  1. Would’ve preferred Altuve, but this is cool too. I like the fact that they brought them in for a photo shoot vs. using an action shot. Change of pace.
Wonder why they choose to go with a SnapBack style hat instead of something more like a ballcap. I just simply can’t wear that, unfortunately, so I’ll probably just get thit regular edition, or maybe MVP.
So it doesn't matter which version I get as long as I get it from either GS or the PS store I will get it 4 days early? Also I know it says download it or pick it up on the 23rd but I'm hoping for those that pre-order on the PS store that we will be able to pre-load it sooner.
No surprise they went with Judge imo. Young guy, huge star power, #1 market etc., I wouldn't be surprised if we see boosted sales of 18 compared to previous versions. Griffey, Donaldson, Puig, Cabrera, McCutchen (can't remember back any farther) are all good baseball players but with the exception of Griffey, none of them really transcend the sport the way Judge did this year (being in NY has a lot to do with that), SDS just trying to jump on the hype train.

Live in AZ and Diehard Jays fan!
Sucks cant get the Stroman cover down here in AZ!

I'm in Canada but refuse to buy physical media. Wish I could change the icon on the dash to the Canadian version. Love the Stro Show.
Thank god for custom covers. And I'll be grateful to save a little money not buying a steelbook this time.
Wish Marcus Stroman was just the cover athlete for the whole game, especially after his performance in the WBC earlier this year.

Whats up with the Cubs avatar.....

Born and raised in Chicago, entire family lives in Canada
Cubs are my NL team and Jays my American
Would've rather had the guy who just hit .350, and won a World Series on the cover. At least Judge actually had cover worth numbers unlike the Puig.
Does SDS know something we don't? Most baseball fans think Altuve should be the MVP....
Yet Judge is on cover and there will be an "MVP Edition" release....
I am not saying he is on the cover BECAUSE he is (or is not) the MVP...he is simply the most marketable player right now (see HR Derby and all the hype that weekend).
But I feel like they released the Aaron Judge cover news early, made public appearance in conjunction with ESPN, and then releasing an MVP Edition with him on cover.
The votes were in before the playoffs, so someone "knows" who the MVP is already. I wonder if SDS got whiff of some of that info?
...also I know the "MVP Edition" is just the naming convention used for their different tiers, but still....

I think you are over-thinking it. Its a combination of marketing and cost. Judge was a guy they wanted to get for what he would bring in attention to the game, and they were able to afford his price, so there you go. Maybe Altuve wasn't interested, maybe he cost too much, or maybe there marketing team didn't believe Altuve would bring the same hype as Judge. Who knows!

I have to imagine this is purely based on the fact that he’s a young power hitting Yankee. That’s like marketing gold for casuals.
