Should be solid again this year.

From the little information, there are things that sound promising. If Mr. Brinkman is held to his word, next year should be a solid game. I still don't know how I feel about this year.

Hype? What hype?

Innovative controls; problematic frame rate; animations need work; lack of attention to details; sloppy overall execution.

Looking forward to it, just not holding my breath. Why no demo? And why so tight-lipped with media outlets as far as movies and stuff? I'm a little worried.

The improvements over 2k7 have been noted - improved hitting engine, new and improved pitching mechanic, improved fielding, and a more robust implementation of sig-styles.

The presentation keeps the game from getting anything higher than an 8.5 in the hype department.

If 2k8 can deliver with their gameplay and improve their presentation and crowd interaction in 2k9 then they'll be looking at a 9 or better in the future.

i think 2k8 will be much better than 2k7, and 2k7 was pretty good...

Just not as high on this franchise as I once was. I'll give a rent before buying.
