NBA 2K20 Franchise Mode Developer Blog - MyGM 2.0, MyLEAGUE & More

Here’s the new NBA 2K20 franchise mode developer blog on MyGM 2.0, MyLEAGUE and much more. The blog was brought to you by the NBA 2K20 franchise team, led by Dave Z: Tim, Leftos, John, Ash, Yu, Brad, Vlad, Michael, Jeff and of course special guest star Erick ‘SimBaller’ Boenisch.

Hello, world! It’s the franchise team here, ready to give you a sneak peek as to what MyLEAGUE has in store for NBA 2K20. We do our best to comb through sources of feedback from all over the net – Operation Sports, Reddit, Twitter, the 2K Forums and more. We can feel the passion that fans have for the NBA, and for NBA 2K and every year we try to respect and honor that devotion with many hours worked and sleepless nights. Every year we strive to make that year’s franchise the best it’s ever been, and 2K20 is no exception.

One of the difficulties we face on the franchise team is that how do you improve something that, for the most part people really love? Do we play it steady and make sure that the formula we’ve worked on stays safe, or do we swing for the fences? We think that the answer is always swinging for the fences, because we all want the same thing – for the fans to have as much fun in MyLEAGUE as possible. We’ll never stop working to keep improving what we’ve already done, and never quit on innovating the series to make sure that we always surprise and delight all of our fans.

We’ve been hard at work all year to polish the roster-driven action you’ve come to love since it was called the Association, and we’re excited to share details about the biggest new feature of the year – MyGM 2.0. We’ve reworked a ton of how MyGM plays to try and give fans a brand new experience, and feel like we’ve really made our mark on the next page in quality franchise gameplay.

MyGM 2.0

MyGM 2.0 Overview

MyGM was the cornerstone of the revitalized new era of franchise, dating back to 2K14. We delivered to our fans the first-person experience of what it’s truly like to be a GM; to be at the helm of a team in one of the most prestigious sports in the world. There were goals to complete, rosters to build, and conversations to have in a variety of environments. The fans loved it; overall it paved the way for MyLEAGUE in 2K15 and the storylines present in 2K18 and 2K19.

The fans were clear; they liked the conversations, for the most part. There were a few minor annoyances; hearing from your 6thman for the thousandth time that they wanted to be a part of the starting lineup could get a little old, but overall being able to actually talk to the players and staff made a huge difference in how the game felt.

Yet as the years went on, the focus clearly shifted as MyGM was no longer the new kid on the block – the fan base loved the sandbox nature of MyLEAGUE, and a lot of the major elements of MyGM were the same year-to-year. You’d still have the same conversations, still have the same goals and STILL have that sixth man that wants a starting spot. When asked to describe MyGM to someone not familiar, the most common description was “It’s like MyLEAGUE… but with conversations.” That is accurate, but we want more. We want to have MyGM carve out its own identity, and to really make it feel like a distinct experience from MyLEAGUE. To do that, we completely overhauled the system to what we call MyGM 2.0.

Here’s a quick overview of some of the new features contained in MyGM 2.0:

  • Action Points
  • Score and leaderboards
  • Skills, featuring a skill tree and an updated leveling structure
  • Completely new task system
  • Revamped relationships
  • Sponsorships and branding

MyGM 2.0 – Everyone is Welcome!

We’ll talk more a bit later about this, but one of the most important things we strived for in MyGM 2.0 is to make the mode more accessible to all NBA 2K fans. We’ll be talking more about the new features soon, but for folks that don’t normally play franchise but are giving this a read please know that MyGM 2.0 was built with YOU in mind! We’ll explain a bit later on how this works exactly, but for now let’s take a quick look at the overall design philosophy behind MyGM 2.0…

MyGM 2.0 – Design Philosophy

We feel that one of the fundamental signs of good gameplay is that there’s a high number of meaningful choices made. Tic-tac-toe is a fun game at first, because there are strategy elements uncovered with each passing game. Yet with time, the ideal strategy is found and each game results in a boring draw. You don’t make meaningful choices, you simply react in the optimal way.

Yet say we’re no longer playing tic tac toe, we’re playing chess, bridge, go, or any other high-level strategy game. Now we require both mechanical learning of optimal play in predefined conditions, and the creativity to see moves ahead of time. This offers great variety and challenge to the experts, so can we claim that those games are superior to tic-tac-toe? I don’t believe we can, because without a doubt some people would prefer tic tac toe. It’s simple to learn, and easy to share with someone that’s never played before.

So how does this aside into classical games relate to NBA 2K? Because they help clearly display the two driving philosophies behind MyGM 2.0:

  1. To increase the number of meaningful decisions made by the player.
  2. To make the entire system more intuitive and fun for new and old players.

After pondering on how best to make point #1 happen, we moved to the new heart of MyGM 2.0…

MyGM 2.0 – Action Points and the Overview

A shot of the new MyGM landing page

We’re adding a brand-new overview landing menu, along with a new system of Action Points (or AP) that drive interactions in MyGM. Every day you play in MyGM, you’re going to have to make a conscious choice on what’s the best thing to do to help turn your team into a winner. Do you want to spend time trying to make the team better via a trade? Do you want to spend time having chit chats with the players, staff or other GMs? Do you want to take control of the team directly and play a game on the sticks? Now, all of the core actions will now take an AP, causing you to make meaningful choices about how the best and most efficient way is to build a winning team.

The hope that moving things over to an AP system is that it will help drive the decision-making and relationships to offer different GMs a different path to carve out their legacy in the NBA. Players that feel confident that the path to victory is by controlling the team from the sidelines can play games to get an edge, or the analytics gurus can constantly churn trade assets to try and build a monster out of a rebuilding team. Different difficulties will offer different amounts of AP per day, so all fans can feel the thrill that makes decision-making seem fun rather than stifling.

All of the classic landing menus are still present in MyGM 2.0, so feel free to throw players up on the trading block or list your next superstar as untouchable – the core of the mode should still feel familiar enough to veterans of the series so your next journey into the world of MyGM is only a click of the sticks away. Yet how do we separate the newbies from the juggernauts when it comes to the world of MyGM? By the newly revamped…

MyGM 2.0 – Score and Leaderboards

Every time you take the helm of a new franchise, you’re going to have to pick a difficulty – Easy, Medium or Hard. The harder the difficulty, the longer the scoring period is and the fewer AP you’ll get per day. Generally, most of the actions you take will fall under two categories:

  • Things that help improve your team will earn you experience.
  • Things that help show off your prowess as a GM will earn you score.

We’ll talk more about experience a little later, but let’s dive in a bit more on what score means in MyGM 2.0. Every time you prove that you’re a great GM, you’re going to earn points. These are generally represented by winning games, making the playoffs, or having players win various awards. We lower the amount of score you receive from players that were inherited when you started the mode, but as time goes on and more of the signings are completely yours, the score you earn will continue to grow. You can’t simply choose a stacked team and expect to crush the leaderboards; you’ll need to make sure that you’re constantly moving and shaking the roster to be your own perfect vision as to how to win chip after chip.

MyGM 2.0 is now global. It’s not just about taking your team to the top, now the name of the game is to do it with flawless efficiency. To get to the top and stay there. To outplay, outdraft, outwit and outlast all of the other sim rivals across the world in our brand-new leaderboards.

An early look at the leaderboards.

With the leaderboards, you’ll be able to see how your team is faring against everyone else in the same difficulty, and judge them against the greatest of all-time, or just filter it down to the month. You can even filter it down to just you and your friends to compete for local supremacy and bragging rights over who can build the best team. Rep your favorite team on top of the leaderboards, as everyone will get to see the team that YOU chose to make a splash with in MyGM 2.0.

Depending on the difficulty, you have a set amount of years to try and increase your score before your time is up for leaderboard progress. Five years for easy, ten for medium and fifteen for hard. Beyond that, you’re welcome to keep playing the full eighty years of a standard MyGM. We’ll still let you keep playing and racking up the score; though only the initial portion will count on the leaderboards.

Well, that sounds neat and all; we get score by winning. Yet what do we have to help us build a winner in the first place? We get some help by looking at…

MyGM 2.0 – Leveling

The leveling system has been revamped heavily from MyGM 1.0. Back then, you would gain experience tied to your user profile that gave two main benefits: facility upgrades and purchasing persuasive pitches. These boosts tended to be pretty overpowered; giving +5-10 across the board and boosting potential made it easy for anyone to simply walk in and simulate their way to a championship. We tried to figure out what the coolest parts were about leveling, learn the lessons of what worked with the previous system, and fold it together into the new MyGM 2.0 leveling experience.

Each save starts from level 1.

Some people liked the OP 1.0 facilities, some people didn’t. Now you have the luxury of picking them if you want, or don’t – but everyone’s going to be competing, so you’ll want to leverage every strength you can to try and be at the top of the leaderboards.

You gain experience by making the team better.

The primary way that you gain experience now is by winning games and completing tasks. We’ll touch on tasks in a little bit, but the basic idea is that by completing goals randomly generated throughout each save, you’re going to be taking steps that improve your team. Winning also gives experience, as chemistry and morale are building blocks to a dynasty, but don’t forget that you’ll get a lower amount of experience for players you haven’t signed.

Each save will end up around level 20.

Experience is tuned to try and make it so that you’re about level 20 when you finish the portion of the save that score counts for the leaderboards. The goal is to try and make meaningful decisions as you progress, and that your own managerial style can come through strongly by the choices you make as you level up. What kinds of choices? Well…

MyGM 2.0 – The Skill Tree

The start of the skill tree.

MyGM 2.0 features a brand new skill tree. You can pick your general style to start with at level one, then you can move along any of the starting five trees or to any adjacent skills. Here’s an overview of the five trees:

  • Leadership (L) – A man of the locker room, a leadership-focused GM is better able to build the trust of those around them, gain boosts for playing games, and lower trust loss in press conferences.
  • Diplomacy (D) – A way with words, a diplomatic GM can build trust by having chit chats with several different groups, can help improve revenue and help sign more big name free agents.
  • Insight (I) – A deep sense of understanding, an insightful GM can understand what affects the mood and trust of those around him, access the trade finder, or improve scouting.
  • Finance (F) – An eye for the bottom line, a financial GM can improve revenue, sign players for less and gain additional sponsorship slots.
  • Facilities (FC) – A man with the plan, a facility-oriented GM can choose from a specialty facility for a permanent boost to one of five areas, can help boost players on game days or turn high attendance into improved relations with sponsors.

The five different trees offer differing styles on how to best construct a team. The goal is always to win the championship and forge a dynasty, but how you get there can vary greatly. The hope is that you’ll have a fun time figuring out the right build for every team, and that you’ll enjoy experimenting to see what is the optimal route to take.

You’ll also gain passive benefits with each level; as your experience grows, you’ll gain more AP per day and the ability to bank AP from day to day. Once a month, you’ll also be able to ‘respec’ and reset the skill tree, so be bold! The skills were designed so that most of them would try and change the way that you play: to make financials more important, to give extra ways to save or spend AP, and to allow more chances to boost relationship values. We’ve touched on them a bit, but let’s discuss…

MyGM 2.0 – Revamped Relationships

The user ruminating on what currency actually means.

A goal of MyGM 2.0 was to help make the relationships you build along the way matter more. In addition to a more comprehensive overhaul of the Morale and Team Chemistry systems across all MyLEAGUE modes, now users are able to have relationships with all of their players, the team staff, the governor and even opposing GMs.

Keeping up good relationships with the organization will be critical in order to access the full suite of menus now; the head coach will keep his in-game strategy locked down until you’ve built (and kept!) your relationship with them sufficiently high enough that you can access the Coach Gameplan menu directly.

The idea behind the change is to A) help simplify menus for newer players, and B) to make it really feel like you’re actively working to build up your control over the franchise. It’s not all going to be there for you day one as a general manager; you’ll need to earn the trust and improve the mood of everyone around you if you want to gain full control from the top down.

Having chit chats is an easy way to spend extra AP to improve relationships, but the biggest way to improve your relationship is with the new…

MyGM 2.0 – Revamped Goals and Tasks

In MyGM 1.0, only the team governor would give you goals. Now, anyone in the organization can give a task – the governor, staff members and even the players. Echoing the pressure of the real-life general managers, sometimes the requests will not necessarily be for the best interest of the team. You shouldn’t be able to just turn on the autopilot and complete all goals as delivered; you’ll have to use a discerning eye to figure out which goals actively help the team, which ones are suboptimal but worth the relationship boost for completing and which ones you’ll simply have to salvage.

You shouldn’t be completing every goal, and part of the skilled GM’s toolkit also involves knowing how to handle relationships when tasks go poorly. Pick the right style and you’ll soften the blow for failure, pick the wrong style and you’ll turn things into a disaster. Learning the quirks and preferences of your team and staff will become essential to navigating the new task system.

MyGM 2.0 – Everyone is Welcome, Redux!

MyGM has been an experience that our core franchise fans have enjoyed, but there’s always been a huge barrier to entry to new fans. If you took a random person that’s never set foot in franchise before and had them play MyLEAGUE, odds are pretty high that they’d be lost without some type of previous roster-management experience.

One of the hopes of MyGM 2.0 is that someone completely new to franchise can jump right in and start playing. Even though MyLEAGUE and MyGM have the same goal of building a winning team and creating a dynasty, MyGM now features a heavy emphasis on score and experience. This lets newer player see a clear cause and effect, that taking steps that improve the team and will help get them to the heart of franchise gameplay.

In addition, on the overview screen we’ve got an Assistant GM panel where we help make recommendations on things you might be able to spend AP on. Savvy GMs will still be able to do more advanced moves like making trades and signing free agents on their own, but players that are still getting their feet wet in franchise will always have a fallback so that they never feel lost.

The hope is that we both lower the learning curve to make it easier for new players to jump in, and increase the skill gap so that the best of the best will be able to duke it out at the top of the leaderboards. We’re optimistic that MyGM 2.0 will have something for everyone, and that MyGM 2.0 is the next mark in our tireless effort to give you the best franchise experience possible.

Additional MyLEAGUE-Level Features

Staff Card

We’ve had player cards and team cards for years; now it’s time to add staff cards as well. They’re pretty simple and carry over a lot of the information you expect, but now we conveniently group everything into one location.

Revised Morale and Team Chemistry

We touched on this a bit over in MyGM 2.0, but we’ve tweaked the morale and team chemistry formulas to make them a bit more dynamic. Now they’ll continue to trend towards an equilibrium point every day, and the makeup of your team matters. Having greatly different work ethics will lower the equilibrium for your team, so putting together a winner should be a little bit more difficult, but more rewarding for those that are able to handle the system well.

New Personality Badges for Max Players

One thing that’s always tricky to get right is to determine how max players move in the offseason. We’ve all seen how crazy the 2019 NBA offseason was, but for the most part, all of the star moves seem logical – Kyrie and KD in Brooklyn, AD joining LeBron in LA, those types of moves make sense. Yet it’s hard to replicate two star players meeting up and discussing their future together in the simulation logic, so how can we help make more realistic star player moves in the offseason? Well, we’ve added a few new badges that should help add more texture to where players go if everyone can offer a max:

  • Media Ringmaster – This player thrives in front of the cameras and prefers to play in big markets. Pretty straightforward, you should expect players with this badge to be more likely to sign to a big market team.
  • Warm Weather Fan – These are for the beachgoers that would rather play in warm, temperate climates and avoid the really cold home teams.
  • Finance Savvy – These are players that factor in the tax rate in where they want to go in the hopes of really making the most out of their money.

Of course, not all players have these badges and these badges don’t necessarily mean that a max player would take a $10M discount to play somewhere they really like; it’s more of a tiebreaker to help make sure that the player movement feels a little more authentic.

History and Records

We can now pull the player models or portraits when viewing the team history page. Not a huge change, but we think it looks pretty neat and helps give an even better sense of history as you progress through MyLEAGUE.

Improved Draft Class Authenticity to the Current NBA

The NBA after twenty years of auto-generated players should look more and more like the current NBA, in terms of attribute progression and badge growth. We’ve run simulation after simulation to try and tweak the numbers so that if you’re using autogenerated draft classes, that it feels like the NBA during your entire MyLEAGUE experience.

Improved Player DNA

We’ve added a lot more functionality to Player DNA to try and make it easier to find the players you want for your draft classes. Overview of revisions and new features:

  • Tabs that display all downloads, new / hot downloads and previously downloaded items.
  • A button to filter out to just things you’ve created.
  • Columns that show the date created, date modified, OVR and age.
  • The ability to sort based on columns.
  • More upload slots for Player DNA creations.

We know that the franchise fanbase’s passion is unmatched, and we want to continue to give you bigger and better tools to really enjoy the most out of our sandbox modes.

LT / RT to Quickly Scroll

Whenever you’re adjusting sliders or numbers in pretty much any franchise menu, you can hold LT and RT to make scrolling go that much faster. Tweaking progression sliders, making a contract offer in MyGM or tweaking values in Edit Player – chances are high LT and RT will help you make the changes more quickly. This has been in some places in the past, but we’ve seen enough requests for faster changing of values to know that it’s something that our fans could really use.

Option to Force Winners

Now when simming games in MyLEAGUE, you’ll have the option if you want to set one side to win after simming. If you enjoy crafting storylines and creating elaborate situations, or simply just want to see what happens after making a team win all 82 games in a season, we’ve got you covered.

Closing Thoughts

It’s hard to believe another year’s flown by as we wrap up this blog. We spend every year discussing how best to put together your feedback along with what we think would make each iteration of MyLEAGUE the best version ever. We’ve put a ton of time and care into improving the franchise modes and once again we’re excited to see how everyone enjoys all of the changes this year.

We’d like to give a special thanks to all of the fans that play and enjoy the game, year after year. Ball is life for a lot of us and there’s no way we could make as many fixes and improvements without your help. We read your feedback, we see your bugs and we see how much passion you have for the game. We hope that you can feel our passion with 2K20 too, and that you have an absolute blast with the new MyGM 2.0 other fun features.

Special thanks to the franchise team led by Dave Z: Tim, Leftos, John, Ash, Yu, Brad, Vlad, Michael, Jeff and of course special guest star Erick ‘SimBaller’ Boenisch. Everyone worked hard to deliver something special, and we hope that you’re as pumped for 2K20 as we are.

As always,

The Franchise Team

  1. I feel like MyLeague players got absolutely nothing out of this article. Is there going to be a separate article for MyLeague features at some point or is this pretty much it? The only feature from this article that could even apply to MyLeague is the max player thing.
So,still no sign and trades. No info on new rules you can change in the offseason, etc. MyLeague has gotten a lot of love in the past, this article makes it seem like an afterthought, have they finally run out of ideas?
This sucks if it’s just what we got for my league i like the force winner when simming but man surely this can’t be it this is what a madden dev blog would pull with these little amount of features
2K obviously made a typo, putting “myLeague” in the title of a myGM article.
Can’t wait for the full length myLeague article I know they’re going to put out :) :) :)
Kidding...partly, but as a myLeague only guy, 2k spoiled me with the last few myLeague blogs, and this one left me wanting a bit more.
I’m a huge MyLeague guy especially last year since MyCareer wasn’t that good imo. But nothing about this blog excited me.
The new personality badges could be great but with 2Ks history of free agency this might be a mess. Also did I miss the part on if these badges affect teams trading for max players?
And 2K always talks about how they redone the draft classes but they end up being nothing special.
    Ummm...
So I see that the focus this year was to attract people who have no clue about basketball with a bunch of video gamey additions to MyGM, that's nice.
My expectations were very low this year and I would have been almost satisfied with "improved QA testing and fixed x,y, and z bugs in MLO"... but I can't even tell if there IS a MLO.
The only thing that excited me from this whole blog was being able to force win in sims offline, something Madden has had for years.
This honestly a kind of slap in the face for hardcore MyLeague and MyLeague online users after all the crap we went through during 2k19 which wouldnt even have improved if not for Brian Mazique and JoePat here at OS. I'm extremely disappointed and am already angry about the incoming non basketball related bull**** that will be added to and focused on in the Park/Neighborhood, (as long as dodgeball works jokes will live on I guess. I guess they figured we're all getting into our 30's and older now so we're almost dead **** it.
I know my MyLeague is the most robust franchise mode out there but I was expecting more. At least something like coaches and GMs having badges in MyLeague.
That being said, I really hope they addressed all the bugs like Gleague progression, Mentorship and the historic classes. I also hope presentation took a big step up, too.

Wow, that was not what I was expecting. Very weak.

well My League is still way better than Franchise Mode in Madden 20.. Madden's Franchise mode missing alot features : coaching staffs, positon battle job and other one i forgot
This is all we get for MyLeauge? Swinging for the fences? More like a weak pop fly.
    Damn this is disappointing

Anyone else misses the option to see how many games did someone play against the cpu in my league online? Kinda like in Madden. Here, a player can quit and quit until he wins against the cpu. Quitting vs cpu should count as a lose, or show how many replays it took to everyone in the league.

well. still way better than Franchise Mode in Madden games and NBA Live games

well. still way better than Franchise Mode in Madden games and NBA Live games

This isn’t a comparison to those games. It’s disappointing because of the plethora of information and added features we’ve gotten the past few years.
No one is dogging myleauge , we all know it’s the best franchise mode experience on the market. This blog is hella disappointing this year.

I feel like I should be upset as a myleague guy, but man seeing how a game like Maddens franchise compares to what we have in 2k really just made me appreciate what we already have in myleague a lot more. Never been a fan of MyGM way to much reading and my eyes are already bad enough. But this is basically the end of the current gen so I will give 2k a pass on the small amount of Myleague additions because its still 10x more in depth then any other sports title out right now.
Nothing spectacular here, but there are a few good common sense changes that make a huge difference for offline MyLeague players.
    - "Whenever you’re adjusting sliders or numbers in pretty much any franchise menu, you can hold LT and RT to make scrolling go that much faster."
I've probably wasted a total of 100+ hours of my life in 2K19 holding the stick up/down in player edit menus or contract offers.
    - "Now when simming games in MyLEAGUE, you’ll have the option if you want to set one side to win after simming."
Again, wasted a week getting the 2018/19 season playoff standings correct in MyLeague for 2K19. This saves time.
    - "More upload slots for Player DNA creations."
Good for the custom roster and draft class community.
    - "New Personality Badges for Max Players"
I was hoping for a new 0-100 player motivation attribute to determine large market bias, but this is a good addition even as a badge.
The rest was MyGM focused and good luck to the 2K team if they think they can make that mode easy for a beginner to pick up. If you want to simulate being a GM of a professional sports franchise, then you need to take the time to research and understand the business of the sport. Twitter is full of armchair GM's that don't understand the basics of the NBA's CBA. That mode should never be tailored towards casuals in my opinion.
Well, I really do hope auto generated classes are improved as I primarily use those.... was really hoping for more accurate player progression as well. Being able to force a winner in MyLeague is cool but I don't know if I'll ever use it to be honest. If accuracy is improved in terms of a realistic league forming in the distant future that's really the primary problem I've had with MyLeague. Every year they add a lot of features and it seems as if some of them don't work properly and my primary want was just eliminating the bugs we had last year but to be honest I'm not sure if that was a focus either.
MyGM did get some love from the looks of it, I've not really played MyGM a lot because in the only year I did I was constantly aggravated about playing time from various players so if that's been dwindled, along with the new features, it does give me a bit more incentive to look into that.
I hope they fixed stats disappearing from player cards when using custom draft classes in MyLeague. However, the changes for MyLeague is definitely a letdown comparing to previous years.
I'm disappointed there wasn't many new features for my league however I'm also relieved they didn't change things up a whole lot because I absolutely love what they already had in place. I always wanted to try that myGM mode, looks like 2k20 will be the perfect time to jump in! I think it's going to be another awesome year of 2K basketball.
One gripe I have that I wanted to share was I dont like how playing games uses up action points, thats just a core part of the experience it shouldnt use up points. Especially as a cpu vs cpu player, where I wont gain any advantage by 'playing' the games instead of simming. Love the new badges and coach cards and stuff though.

Shouldn't be expecting major improvements when the new generation of consoles are coming out next year... They're saving all of the big improvements and innovations for those consoles... We're firmly at the end of the xbone and PS4 era

Same here. As a MyLeague only guy, this really leaves a lot to be desired. If the Staff Card means coaching records, then that's something I've been requesting for a couple of years so I'm happy about that. The other stuff sounds decent enough but none of it is really mind blowing like years past.
It sucks but MYGM was due for an upgrade so it looks like that got the majority of the focus this year. MyLeague has been the main focus since like 2K15 so I guess we had to have a year like this sometime. Hopefully, there's at least some nuggets that they didn't include in the blog.
I just hope they fix the issues with the 99 inside shot tendency, the G-Leaguers jumping up 10+ overall points and the broken mentorship feature... Also the trade and roster building logic too... Doubt it considering how bad it's been for years... I would love not to have to do manual housekeeping to keep things somewhat realistic... Rebuilding teams should not be going after aging vets in the trade market and free agency and contending teams shouldn't be blowing up their teams with stupid trades for draft picks... Also teams should be signing their second round picks to at least 2-way contracts instead of releasing them immediately after drafting them... CPU teams never sign their second rounders... Those are just a couple things off the top of my head
The title of the OS post is misleading. This is strictly a mygm blog and not the usual all inclusive myleague and mlo blogs. Looks like the devs will be doing a separate blog for each mode within the overarching franchise modes. Looking forward to the mlo blog most but there are some interesting features in mygm that I hope does and does not translate to mlo. Namely the free agent destination badges. They should keep those badges offline so as to not predetermine fa outcomes based on the badges. The team chemistry and morale system would be a nice addition to mlo that has previously been confined to the offline modes. More DNA features are welcomed as it literally saved my multi season 30 man mlo that went a total of 10 seasons and is still going strong! Lastly.. Why did it take so long to add force winners to offline my league. This was mind boggling when I found it was missing in offline myleague all this time.
Can't wait for the mlo blog. Stabilize the servers, ensure a gltich free offseason and we are good!

Your mlo wish list post is legendary. If the devs read that list and implemented and addressed the issues you outlined alone, we will be in good be in online franchise mode heaven. This looks to strictly be a mygm blog so keep faith as we eagerly anticipate the mlo blog. I'd be shocked if this is all the focused on out of the 3 franchise modes. The title of the blog says it all.. It's simply pertains to mygm only.

Agreed on all accounts. I've been saying for awhile now that MyLeague could use a year of just cleaning up everything. Obviously, that's not a "sexy" to put in a blog but the things you listed continue to be overlooked year after year.
It doesn't seem logical to continue to add new things when other things haven't been corrected since they were introduced. It would be nice if they fixed those things and just didn't mention it in the blog.
ummm you all do realize MyGm and Myleague are two separate modes? Before jumping to conclusions and assuming this MyGm blog covers Myleague let’s just wait and see what other content get released.

I was really hoping to see the return of the NBA.com homepage or something equivalent. I hate getting league news through tweets. We need a centralized location for the league.
Would have loved both of these ideas. A lot.
    youALREADYknow

    - "More upload slots for Player DNA creations."
Good for the custom roster and draft class community.
    - "New Personality Badges for Max Players"
I was hoping for a new 0-100 player motivation attribute to determine large market bias, but this is a good addition even as a badge.
I liked both of these additions.
That was probably about all I could pull from the article that really registered on my interest scale to any degree. I also liked the idea of the improving the historic stats but I didn't quite understand what they meant. Are they saying when you hover over, say, the highest single-game scoring effort of all-time now you'll see a picture of Wilt Chamberlain and not just his name?
Either way, like others have said, 2K's Franchise mode has been so killer for so long that when you see an underwhelming list of improvements you kind of have to check yourself and remember where the mode stands and how much they've done over the years to propel it into orbit. That said, we're always hungry for more, so it can also be tough to see that not too much has been added.

If you know what a "sneak peak" is then you would definitely agree that there will be more daily blogs released (not to sound condescending).
They know MyLeague is the Cream of the Crop so they'll save it for last. They didn't address MLO as well so those blogs should be compiled together.
Notice near the end of the blog they implicate "Additional MyLeague Level" features for the new MyGM, but did NOT substantiate a section for MyLeague/MLO alone.
That's unorganized and it just doesn't make sense.
Like everyone is saying, hopefully there is a separate MyLeague blog, because if that's it, I'd be so disappointed. We've been spoiled for years, sure, but there's still so much potential to be added to MyLeague that if this is it, I'd be crushed.

For at least the previous two years, yes. Here's 2K18's: https://www.facebook.com/notes/nba-2k/nba-2k18-myleaguemygm-blog/10154749630982267/
I stand to be corrected but from reading the 2K20 article Steve posted today the tone is such that this seemed to be the blog for both MyGM and MyLeague. I see folks jumping on the line, "Hello, world! It’s the franchise team here, ready to give you a sneak peek as to what MyLEAGUE has in store for NBA 2K20" but the inference I pick up on, particularly when reading surrounding text, is that the "sneak peak" meant "before the release of 2K20", not "before an entire other blog comes out only on MyLeague".
The entire article referenced finding ways to improve the entire franchise system as a whole, and they seemed to think the best way of doing that this year would be to focus on the MyGM subsection.
But again, I stand to be corrected.

if not then that's fine with me. NBA 2k's franchise mode is still way better than NBA Live's Franchise Mode and Madden's Franchise Mode too. i like new badges about max deal and their own personality like that
I wasn't really expecting big changes to MyLeague. They haven't really added much to MyLeague since 2k17. But at least we are still at the point where the mode isn't shallow. The mode still has vast depth and important core features.
I'm not expecting big changes until next generation. My hope is that they down tear down mode and rebuild mode like most sports games do in new generations of consoles. Hopefully with the consoles having same architecture as current gen, that it allows an easier transition to next gen. Where they can just build off of what they have already
    jetsman92
Shouldn't be expecting major improvements when the new generation of consoles are coming out next year... They're saving all of the big improvements and innovations for those consoles... We're firmly at the end of the xbone and PS4 era

Honestly...this shouldn't be an excuse....majority of people will NOT buy a new console when they become available, and NBA 2K is not console mover game. Typically, people will either wait for the new console, and buy NBA 2K at that time. Or, they'll NBA 2K for their current console, and buy a new copy when they get the new console.
"Saving" features won't increase their sales. Some people would argue that NBA 2K6 and 2K14 were bare bones when compared to their last gen game counterpart.

I always assumed it had more to do with the team moving more of their resources over to the next-gen product and the prep work that goes into that, not so much purposely withholding cool features on the current gen.
I'd also wonder if the team is cognizant of whether they might try to avoid the bare bones situation they hit at the last console switchover. I'd assume that'd take even more manpower.

My experience thus far is that the first game that appears on the new consoles is barebones, then the next game has all the bells and whistles while the previous gen game basically becomes a copy/paste with refinements.
I was just trying to avoid the narrative of "They're purposely withholding features to boost sales for the next gen console.".
I'm disappointed and confused. Disappointed because although myleague has lots of customization it gets boring. There is no immersion. All the editing draft classes ect. gets boring. Would be much better if you could auto generate and superstars and bust come into the league without editing shot tendencies and potentials ect.
What I'm confused about is why have the Nba 2k20 wishlist thread last year? We wished and nothing was granted lol
    https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/nba-2k-basketball/940954-official-mygm-myleague-mlo-2k20-wish-list.html
I'm happy to see this blog post, as I was hoping to avoid buying 2k unless there was a new feature that was game changing. However, this gives me a perfect excuse to keep my Myleague going.
Funny thing is Czar was doing one of those late night livestreams a few days ago and I mentioned the next-gen games and he said how it was going to be a rough year because they will have to make 2 games.
So, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they've already started working on the next-gen games as well, hence the apparent lack of new additions to MyLeague.
What an absolute snoozefest. I’m talking most boring blog I’ve ever read from 2k. It’s a good thing I don’t just buy the game for MyLeague because this is very disappointing. I feel bad for everyone who was really banking on significant changes to that mode. Y’all got abandoned this year.
definitely was expecting more from this blog. Not really much to get excited for...my hype just dropped as this was what I was waiting for the most. Maybe something else will peak my interest like create a player upgrades or something. I still fully expect a good product but just a bit of a let down
Not sure how I feel about online rankings for MyGM. I have this sinking feeling that eventually users will be able to boost their scores with VC purchases.
Also, so long as MyLeague is available then MyGm is just a waste of space anyway.
    JohnnyCash2015
I feel like MyLeague players got absolutely nothing out of this article. Is there going to be a separate article for MyLeague features at some point or is this pretty much it? The only feature from this article that could even apply to MyLeague is the max player thing.
So,still no sign and trades. No info on new rules you can change in the offseason, etc. MyLeague has gotten a lot of love in the past, this article makes it seem like an afterthought, have they finally run out of ideas?

It literally states, in the very first paragraph of the article, that this is a SNEAK PEAK at MyLeague. Does nobody read the entire article before commenting anymore? So quick to outrage and dev insults around here with this game.

Nah I def think you're misinterpreting it, and its simply a sneak peak of what is to actually be in the game, not a sneak peek of a future blog. There would be no reason to talk about myleague as they did IMO and they've traditionally released all the info together and theres no mention of another blog coming. I hope I'm wrong though because this leads me to believe MLO has been removed.

I expect this is it. I don't expect another blog from this team. They did a year's worth of development work on MyGM in this piece. Last year the big lift was MLO. The year before ML offline got a lot of attention.
If all they do with ML offline this year is clean up draft classes, do these other menu navigation and other tweaks, and hammer out the bugs from last year (like the mentor system and whatnot), it's not great but it's more or less ok I guess for me as an only ML offline user. That is, as long as the game play is not borked and is improving at the expected rate. Also, as long as they don't try to turn ML into some kind of VC casino again.

I agree it is going to harder this time around. With 2k14, next gen released a month and half after current gen. So it might have been easier for them to focus primarily on next gen. But this time around there most likely around 2 and half months between release, they still need to put enough development into current gen to hold off until next gen game releases. It should be a rough year of development for essentially 2 games. So we should expect another 2k14 for 2k21, where we will see a graphical and audio upgrade and maybe MyCareer focus, but maybe stripped down modes

It's not unclear. They very clearly state this is a sneak peak at MyLeague. I'm not sure why you guys would expect them to mention MLO when this is, once again, very clearly a MyGM blog with very minimal MyLeague items.

Maybe because MyLeague is mentioned multiple times and they essentially bid us adieu in their closing thoughts and hope we enjoy 2k20. If anything it seems more clear that this is it. They essentially laid out that the biggest new feature was MyGM 2.0 but here are some additional MyLeague items. No stay tuned or anything like that. This was presented as this is what the franchise team has produced for us this year.
Again, I'll wait and see before I further express frustration.
So considering some of us see it one way and you and few others see it another way, yes it's unclear lol.
And the reason we'd expect MLo to be mentioned in this blog is because that's how they've done it, even when we were upset that we got a mere paragraph dedicated to MLO, guess what, it was in this blog.
So one last time, yes it's a little unclear, but looks more likely than not that this is it. I do at least expect the bugs that were present the entire 2k19 cycle to be fixed. Hell, I'd be pretty ok if in MLO I could quick edit multiple players without their height switching smh.

They always drop MyGM, MyLeague and MyLeague Online in the same blog.
The blog is mainly MyGM focused because that's where they focused most of their attention this year. ML and MLO got some improvements but not enough to warrant another entire blog.

MyLeague is one of the best aspects of 2K and has been for years. Maybe we're not getting a bunch of details because there's only so much they can improve, or they weren't able to get to certain things in this dev cycle.
I think a lot of members of this community are way too quick to go into "torch and pitchfork" mode because they don't hear exactly what they want to hear.

They've always released one blog for mygm and myleague so I don't think they will deviate from that UNLESS there is something big in store for myleague in particular which is highly unlikely with the new PS5 and Xbox coming out next year... Also why even mention myleague at all if it were getting its own blog? That makes no sense either... We're at the end of the cycle for these consoles so I'm sure the vast majority of developers are already working on the bigger innovations for the next gen consoles... Next few blogs will be blah...if the MyLeague heads were underwhelmed from the blog.
The force wins addition is huge for those that want to play MyLeague with a custom roster and still catch up to where the league is at whenever they start, I've wasted so much time in ML trying to get certain teams to win during 30 team MyLeagues or playing with a classic roster. Other than that, this is really disappointing if that's it for the mode, it is in a really good place as is, but it still had things to be fine-tuned as well, I just don't think MyGM is ever gonna catch on.
Personally, I'm not that disappointed about the lack of new MyLeague stuff. The bigger thing for me is whether the bugs were ironed out. If so, I'll be happy.

Technically microtransactions are already in MyGM... I mean you can buy levels AND use VC to buy the team if you so choose for around 50k VC... It's not as intrusive or inhibitive as it is in other modes but micros are there in the mode... It's just a matter of whether or not 2k is sleezy enough to expand on it... And considering what 2k recently did with the unskippable FX ad earlier I wouldn't put it past them 🤷🏿*♂️
2K has never released separate blogs for MyLeauge and MyGM .. ever.

Serious question as someone who didn't play 2k19 but considering 2k20: What are some of the major MyLeague changes people wanted and didn't find in this article? I'm not saying they don't exist, but MyLeague is light years ahead of other sports games franchise modes. It's understandable over time, they would start having trouble finding things to add. What are some things people wanted / were craving that still aren't here?
Okay, went into this blog high hopes but that was quite a let down. Almost nothing new in regards to MyLeague, and not one mention of the player progression/regression and G-League bugs. That was, to me at least, the biggest problems in MyLeague 2k19. Quite worrisome!
I’m a bit confused as to how these new preference badges for max level free agents will work. First of all what determines if a player is a max level free agent? Is it their overall? Is it their potential? Is it their statistical production?
And what about created players and draft classes? Will we be unable to assign them these badges? I mean per default they are not max level free agents, so will the badges not be available for them?
The mode is pretty maxed out IMO. Im just hoping no weird bugs, maybe some added celebration content (Winning the Finals is weak as hell for a 2019 game).

The only thing I can think of is more accurate simulated stats. The biggest thing has been FTA, where the league leaders generally average 6-7 per game. IRL usually you have to shoot 10 or more to lead the NBA.
If this was the MyLeague blog, its a HUGE letdown. Literally the entire blog aside from 2 paragraphs is about MyGM, which will never be up to the MyLeague standard.
If this is it, I hope they at least give us the option to incorporate some of the MyGm specific things like owners and coaches and staff having badges. That alone would add immense value for me. As it is, there is nothing dynamic about staffs at all.

If this was the MyLeague blog, its a HUGE letdown. Literally the entire blog aside from 2 paragraphs is about MyGM, which will never be up to the MyLeague standard.

They’re very adamant that they don’t want them to be competing against each other, but making them completely different modes.

This news is a dud. Its like going out with a bad female you've been wanting to get with for a long time...and at the end of the date you lean over to kiss her goodnight and her breath smell like dooze!!! Come on man!!!

I think a fairer analogy would be going out with a girl and she doesn't give it up on the first night.
I hope the point I'm trying to make is obvious.

The stuff in the Spoilers tab I included is a lot more than "2 paragraphs" and a lot more than we should expect from a MyGM blog with a bad title and a poorly worded opening. This is a "sneak peak" people and mainly used to focus on a new, revamped MyGM. Not "here's literally everything new to MyLeague".
A lot of this stuff was fluff to me.. I'm really hoping for more NBA related content..
    - G League games, Sign and trades... something!
Will there be more stuff to do in the offseason.. things like that.
    Im hoping..
TBH I'm hopeful that the reason there was so little huge mode improvements for MyLeague is because they spent the year making sure that the features from last year actually work now.
    Injury History did not work
    Mentor System did not work
G League call up rating bumps did not work
    Simulated stats did not work
    Player history did not work
Generated Draft Classes did not work
So honestly if they focused on making all of those things work properly this year that is literally enough for me to purchase.

This is something the guys and I in our Sim league discussed often was that, if there aren't any awesome new additions, that'd be ok and not the end of the world, as long as server stability was AT LEAST on par with how it's been the last 3 months and the 10-12 bugs that significantly plagued both offline and online ML were fixed.
I also at least hoped MLO, considering the claim last year to have "everything that offline does except in season training" to actually have everything that offline does except in season training. Maybe at least 2way contracts
History and Records – We can now pull the player models or portraits when viewing the team history page. Not a huge change, but we think it looks pretty neat and helps give an even better sense of history as you progress through MyLEAGUE.
Can anyone tell me what this may mean? We can remove the roster pics?

my understanding is when you look at your league history (award winners, stat leaders, etc) it will now show the players picture instead of just his name.

IF the generated draft classes work as advertised and IF the bugs/glitches that plagued MyLeague in 2K19 are fixed (especially the Shot Under The Basket Tendency glitch that gave every player in the League a 99), then I'd be ok. But you got to be real cautious with 2K. If the mode don't generate money, those dudes ain't really serious about it.

    That does make sense
So I hope that finally they fixed some myleague online Bugs:
    - injuries occur even when injuries are deactivated
    - realfg% cannot be used
    - some Controller and Coach settings do Not stay when starting a game
Hopefully they worked on the sim engine a bit, and made it so coaches really change the play style of teams.
It is already a really good mode that I sunk over 200 hours in with 2k19, just needs some polish and some added features.

I literally played about 5 games in total between Mygm and My league.  This has been stale for years and with little to no immersion.  We ask for a weekly highlight show like  2k5 or college hoops 2k8 but no go. Hell even co-op online my league would be great. But I'm sure I'm in the minority, but this year is a pass for me for the first time since 2k6.

They don't have to add huge new features (they're already the most robust in the industry by far), but some tweaks/tuneups to the current in-game functions would have definitely been appreciated. There's a lot to name specifically but the draft, free agency, and team management in general are all areas that could use some practical upgrades
    MavsManiac4Life
The force wins addition is huge for those that want to play MyLeague with a custom roster and still catch up to where the league is at whenever they start, I've wasted so much time in ML trying to get certain teams to win during 30 team MyLeagues or playing with a classic roster. Other than that, this is really disappointing if that's it for the mode, it is in a really good place as is, but it still had things to be fine-tuned as well, I just don't think MyGM is ever gonna catch on.

Plus it will help with those who want to tank and do a full on rebuild with their teams. The only thing now is being at the mercy of the lottery system and hoping it goes your way and you land in the top three draft slots.

After re-reading last years blog on Myleague, I now realize that half the features advertised and introduced in 2k19 didnt exist in a particular mode (ML Features that didnt port to MLO), didnt work properly as in the case with the mentor badge transfer system), and wasnt mentioned at all for fear of over promising and under delivering (the MLO offseason glitches/Server Stability during peak 2k season). I have revised my thinking to believe that MyGM 2.0 is the feature the worked on most as the "flashy" marketing reveal poster child of franchise mode. Last year MLO was the big reveal upon revisiting last years blog. The Prior year offline, was the big emphasis. I wont be dissapointed as long they picked the low hanging fruit of slightly upgrading MYGM, with a low key deeper emphasis on completing the full unification of offline and online myleague with all the bells and whistles that are found offline including: in-season training, the chemistry/morale system, user controllable season awards, all star game, summer league, the G league and 2 Way contracts.
If they would've reiterated the above feature sets, it would've been universally panned as them regurgitating last years promised additions while also reminding the community of the botched roll out of those aforementioned features, some of which were never addressed via patch all cycle long, inspite of extensive feedback from the MLO and ML communities.
Again after reading this blog from year ago, this is all we will get this year with the focus being MYGM 2.0 with hopefully an extensive ironing out and addressing of the bugs and glitches and missing features that plagued an otherise fabolous iteration of myleague in 2k19, bar none Visual Concepts greatest iteration of the mode to date. Inspite of all of the angst, 2k19 ML and MLO will go down as an all timer for both online and offline myleague fans.

Agreed. This will be the last game on this generation of consoles so hopefully they took time to iron out and fix bugs over splashy marketing gimmicks to hype features that are half baked and poorly implemented. The foundation of a great MLO mode is there. We just need it to work as advertised. This tweet from mazique below is literally all that need. SERVER STABILITY.

Awesome yeah, the mode is already very deep especially relative to most games franchise modes. Just need bugs ironed out, would've liked for a few additional features, like ability to specifically set the salary cap season to season but overall its great and just needs to work.

I'd 100% be ok if they just delivered on the "everything from offline is there for online" promise from 2k19 (2way contracts, G-League, all star weekend, end of season awards, Summer League, etc) fixed 5-7 major bugs (multiple player quick edit height switch, player waiver cap hit disappearing etc) and improved server stability.
Still disappointed. They can add all the features they want to MyGM but at the end of the day things will still most likely become pretty unrealistic, and MyLeague will always be the favorite of the two.
The problem is 1) barely any new myleague features, and 2) none of them move the needle except for force winners. Especially improved draft classes because so many people start with custom rosters so youll end up having to, at the very least, adjust ratings of generated players. And of course, still ZERO improvement to the arena and uniform creator.
I hope they fixed the alternate jersey bug so it actually works this year since its been a bug for atleast 2 years now, also hope they now give us the chance to turn on or off the nike logo so we dont need the extra image slot.
I still don't understand the point of the nba 2k20 myleague/mygm wishlist thread last year. It wasn't made by a operation sports forum member. A 2K EMPLOYEE POSTED IT!!!! So why no wishes granted? They could at least have told us if the myleague bugs were fixed. Draft class improvement??? Anything???
A max badge and forced wins. Not knocking forced wins but COME ON!!! No pre and post game stats, no score ticker during games, more stat overlays during games. Maybe a nba home page with news and stats instead of "twitter". Something small and more interesting. But hey I can force a win now. My basketball itch has been scratched.
How about the commentators talk about the nba champion when you play them or if you are the champion. Not all that uninteresting repetive gibberish. People keep saying myleague is the best franchise mode. Maybe but its not alive and immersive. Still feels like playing season mode to me. A score ticker during games would have helped alot.
When a team whens the nba championship do you even remember or pay attention to them the next season in myleague? Watching the nba you always know. Little things can make this mode explode.
Back to my original point. Why did 2k (employee) create a nba 2k20 myleague/mygm wishlist thread if no wishes were going to be granted? I just had to rant cause although myleague is amazing at customization some of its features are filled with bugs and I personally find it boring.

I completely understand your frustration, especially as a MyLeague only offline player. However, they have followed the wish-list here since 2k15 so (sadly) MyLeague users were due for a year like this. I'm still holding out hope that there's some news in there that we they didn't fill us in on. I know in the past that they have said that some things are expected to be worked every iteration and that's why they don't mention them in the blogs.
My guess to your question about why the thread was created was probably just to continue getting ideas (even if they aren't implemented). At the very least maybe they get put on the board for consideration in a future game. Not that you're saying this, but I don't think it's fair to say that they didn't listen to us if they miss one year out of five... I'm not saying this as a way to take up for them as much as I am just me realistic about the situation.... With that said if next year is the same then I would be more concerned.
Regarding MyGM, I can be happy for those users since that mode hasn't gotten a ton of focus over the past few years. I'll probably never play it but if they eventually let some MyLeague control leak into MyGM then I'd love it. I know it kind of goes against the spirit of the mode (MyGm) but I'd love more life in MyLeague with conversions, demands, goals, etc. However, I like to micromanage things too much to ever lose all control. The modes being combined (at least somewhat) was on my Wish-list last year and will go in it again.

Oh yeah, I know... Basically, we're in the same boat but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Again just my guess, but I'm willing to bet that the suits have more say than the devs in regards to what makes it in each year or maybe they just collectively decided to have a heavy focus on MyGM in 2K20. Whatever is the case, I think that the thread was created with good intentions and the passed few years have shown that they do use the wishlist... Unfortunately, (unless they surprise us - which I'm not holding my breath about) it just didn't work out for us this year.
It is a weird feeling because normally the MyLeague Blog knocks my socks off and I'm so hyped and ready for the new game. But as of right now, 2K20 just doesn't look like a purchase for me. Part of the reason is because I'm actually still playing my 2k19 MyLeague almost daily and I don't want to give up on it yet... if something from 2K20 gives me something to be excited about, then I'd move on but it that doesn't appear to be the case... at least so far.
I liked what I read about Franchise mode, especially that we can pick who wins the simmed games. Ive been wanting this for quite some time, because I like my Association to follow whats going on IRL. As long a it works right that is, and it dont screw something up, as they occasionally have a knack of doing with this game.
What I want to hear before this game comes out, is gameplay has been fixed, and both you and the CPU will actually take charges at a realistic rate. In 19, it was basically non-existent.
Also, I want to know that shooting fouls on jump shots, especially on 3pt shots happen at a realistic rate, as this too has been non-existent for a couple yrs now.

Yeah, charges were one of the things they "overfixed" in 2k19. Getting a charge was ridiculously easy in 2k18 if you know how to, in 2k19 the cpu nearly always gets that escape animation...

I'm excited about the new MyGM features.Sponsorship and branding sounds nice, this will add more manager atmosphere. Hopefully they fix mentorship and third jersey glitch for new teams.
I was hoping for them to totally revamp the Progression systems. It’s pretty basic now and adding something like a custom curve for each player would have been cool.
I’m sure we are going to find some good stuff in there, but I will wait a bit to hear what you guys say. I’m still playing my 2K19 franchise as well....

I'm pretty excited about the MyGM changes. For MyLeague, I might pick the Pelicans and trade Jrue Holiday, Lonzo Ball, and Brandon Ingram for more picks as soon as the game allows or trade them closer to the trade deadline for more picks. I'll develop Zion's jumpshot.
For MyGM, either the Grizzlies, Pelicans, Bulls, or Magic look like interesting teams to mold into my vision of a Pace and Space five-out offense. I plan on getting rid of expensive contracts for draft picks and young players that fit my playstyle, if possible. I like the Insight GM upgrade path.

This sounds way to focused on new players for my tastes

I had the same thought, and as a hardcore MyLeague guy i'm okay with that, because the more new user engagement MyGM attracts then the more resources 2K will throw at it in future developments, which ultimately will benefit MyLeague by association.
With that said, as a hardcore ML guy, looks like 2k20 is a year i can pass on and actually be a productive human for once. There's just nothing there that shows it has progressed to a level i can be excited about. A few nice add-ons, but it looks like it'll be the same christmas tree this year with a few new baulbauls on top.
On the bright side, it's nice to not have my expectations raised to unrealistic levels for once. I can peacefully skip 2k20 with calm confidence
See you in a year fam!

Im a bit different. Im perfectly comfortable if ML is only given a polishing of bugs. Ill play the **** out of it.

I would be comfortable with that too but since there's no indication that any bugs were polished them I'm going to take the "wait and see and let other people be the guinea pigs" approach.
I'll check in closer to the start of the NBA season. If things do look good, then hopefully there will be some decent draft classes and sliders out by then... not to mention uniform/court updates. I'm hoping for the best though.
This reads like the devs forgot MyLeague was even in the game until a week before they needed to publish this article.
First time I can remember reading a franchise mode dev blog and feeling completely disappointed. No mention of improvements to AI trade and free agency logic? Are we just all expected to play 30-team control and micro-manage every single move for every team?
If this dev diary was just "We Fixed All the Bugs and worked on the A.I. team building logic in MyLeague/MyGM" in large letters I think most of us would pre-order in that moment.

I forgot which 2k it was but a few years ago they didn't touch association mode. Left all the bugs in. It was before myleague. They didn't fix big men shooting threes. All centers would jack up threes and hang out by the 3 point line. Although nowadays that happens lol

Bugs sure, not worth a mention.
AI improvements though? Good AI is really hard to make. If they've got real AI improvements they should blog about it because it's a lot of work and a big accomplishment.
There are more than a few games where they could release a sequel where they say "Just like the last game, but we partnered with Google Deepmind to make an amazing AI" and I'd absolutely pay for it.
I know this thread got buried but has anyone heard anything about if they tuned draft classes, fixed under the basket bug, trade logic, g league progression ect. I know myleague didnt get anything added which is unfortunate but I'm hoping they have at least optimized it. Has there been any communication about fixing bugs and improved draft classes?
Will there still be Relocation/Expansion in Mygm...there was no mention of it in the Blog.
Would hate for it not to be included this year but they kept it hush. I dont see why not but just curious.

How emphatic he was in that video suggests that 2k really addressed the MLO server stability. Also confirms that nothing new was added to offline and online myleague so stability and bug fixes were the main things they focused on for this cycle which is more than enough to be honest. The mode is great so let's hope for the best. Mazique is an unassailable journalist first and foremost and is not one for hyperbole so him being that emphatic in the clip is reassuring!
