  1. Ramone must have been giggling inside when he said on the stream today that they had an internal date for 1.10, but couldn't announce it. :lolabove:
    “Increase line drive success rate”
It may be in my head but I swear patch 1.09 decreased my line drive success rate so I’m already like patch 1.10 lol

a month in between patches, and now 2 in 4 days. I dont know whether to look for the next one next week or next month

Usually major patches are followed quickly by an update tweaking ancillary issues to the major ones from the patch coupled with minor adjustments from community feedback on the patch notes and results immediately after release.
Why MLB and Sony released a large, significant patch as V1.09 instead of V1.1 I have no idea, but I'd treat this patch as 1.1 and assume there won't be major changes to the game for quite some time, possibly around or post All-Star break.

That's weird, I actually went up another level in dynamic. Just got to AllStar. Still find it a little too easy to hit still.

wow i ain't see it lol not much but ok ill take it, they have to fix the base running sometimes my player would dive back to the base after a base it, it has cost plenty of games sometimes I have to hit and run to avoid those issues

Hmm havent downloaded the last patch for fear of the reduced timing window, but the admission that the line drive success rate was a little wonky is enticing. That's probably something I've noticed since day one that line drives probably find a fielder a little too frequently.

Sounds good. The gameplay doesn't need a major overhaul, just minor tweaking.
Not a game breaker but I’d like to see a fix to the FA contract signing so that it displays the correct total value of the contract.

Line drives are definitely more lively. Jury still out on how I feel about this patch.
Something funny is that I'm seeing more swings and misses. 7 of the first 18 outs of the game were strikeouts on swings and misses. No backwards K.

Thru 4 innings at Coors Field
    Combined:
    9 hits
    4 homeruns
    2 doubles
    1 triple
9 strikeouts (all swing and miss)

Coors Field isn’t a great place to gauge sliders. I abandoned the Rockies season I’d started because the ball just flies all over the place. It wasn’t fun to pitch there and hitting was way too easy. Everything seemed to be an extra base hit.

Is that for both teams? I know striking out the Cpu was an issue on default for a lot of people before the last 2 patches. I’m trying to gauge if I want to go closer to default or not now

did you try Contact 10, Power 10, Vision 10 playing with a team packed of Legends vs a AA team in Rookie mode ?
Seeing even more hit variety with this new patch. Actually got an infield single on a high chopper to third. Previously that would have been a routine slow grounder to third for an out. Hitting overall to me feels very smooth.

I like stats to have some semblance of realism. After my one game (not a fair sample size) and looking at CB’s results, it looks like xbh% is a tick high. Just some quick looking at MLB teams from this year and last year it seems that the top teams have approx. 12% extra base hit %. So far during my franchise season this is in line with what I’d expect to see irl.
Hopefully I just had a really good game against subpar pitching. I didn’t get much going offensively until I got into the Royals pen (which isn’t very good) and then railed them in the 8th; so that can very likely be the case. I have a series coming up against Boston later in the week that should be a good test.

I wish I’d taken a video of it. I got severely on top of a pitch and it bounced in front of the plate then took a very high bounce to the third baseman who made the throw but too late. Earlier in the game I had one similar but more towards the foul line and not as high. Third baseman tried to barehand but missed and was charged with an error. Seems you really have to time these slow rollers and choppers though because I had a slow one to my SS in the 9th inning and he booted it which led to a blown save. I tried to preload the throw and he dropped it.

Don't forget folks to tip your waitress and bartender. Caulfield will be here all week.
I was hoping they would have fixed the issue where the pitcher and batter names and stats on the bottom of the scorebugs for themes 1 and 2 disappear and does not come back after the camera follows a foul ball.
You should not need to hit the pause button to get that info showing again on the scorebug.
    Please fix this SDS.
What's the workaround for the pitchers in the DH spot when it's your opponent that has the glitch? This is the stupidest goddamn thing i've seen since the days in Madden when your punter would end up at center if you had injuries.

I just user control the other team I’m playing against to start the game with. Switch the pitcher out at the lineup screen. Then when I enter the game I switch back to my team I’m actually using a franchise mode with.

Well this patch has made me do something that I hate doing....I lowered solid hits for both myself and the CPU to 4.
The ball was/is just too lively for my tastes with this patch. I already lead the league in triples and was top 15 in doubles, and top 10 in homeruns. I've played 5 games and the ball is just jumping off the bat like a rocket. Made me feel like I was playing MLB Slugfest to an extent. Balls banging off walls, going through the infield with what I feel like should've been flames behind it, just everything felt as though it was hit hard. Even when off balance or off the mark, hits felt to be too lively.
I've now played 2 games with the sliders adjusted (damn I hate that) and it feels like it did pre-patch 1.10. Hard hits, screaming liners are happening, but at a much more balanced quip for my tastes.

I’ve only played two games. The first I won 10-2 with a few too many base hits for both teams and the second game I won 1-0 with only two extra base hits for both teams which were two doubles. This is default All Star hitting and default HOF pitching.

Personally I feel hitting is much better with this new patch especially with solid hits slider at 4 for both teams. Getting a nice variety of hits. Extra bases and homers are also very well balanced. Definitely more rewarding now when I hit a liner in the gap or down the line, or hit one out. And FWIW I hit on AS and pitch on HOF.

I finally played the new patch on default and there were 3 ground rule doubles in the game lol.. I don’t like the adjustment.. something feels off now where hitting felt perfect for me on 1.09.
The ball has no weight now where it really did before imo

I personally felt hits felt a little weak after 1.09 but I could live with it because at least stats were still realistically in line with real life. What I don't understand is why they nerfed hitting with 1.09 only to re adjust it almost two days later. Was their telemetry data in fact telling them that balls were being hit to weakly?
The Solid Hits slider definitely needs lowered after this patch. I wish they'd just stop with this nonsense. The game was really OK before this latest patch, and now all I'm seeing are rockets hit 80% of the time. I'm also now seeing my outfielders taking some bad angles because of this new power that batters have. And yet again, more slider adjustments.
The whiners complain on twitter, and then they over-react. I just think I'm possibly getting too old for this video game stuff anymore. And...get off my lawn.

The global changes in 1.09 modified the timing window, which seems to be a change to increase strikeouts (and swings/misses).
They didn't "nerf" hitting in general, they just tuned the balance on two parts of it in these two patches - increasing one and decreasing the other.
The DD-specific tweak to the line drive region is another story - I'm not sure I understand how that goes along with 1.10's changes. But I assumed that we weren't talking about that since it's DD only.
Also, guys, when they talked about "combatting the meta" in the weeks leading up to release....this is what they meant. Nobody should be acting surprised that this is happening. I get that that doesn't always mean the best thing for the offline user who's happy with the game as is, though.

If they’re on a hot streak? The game is too easy and it sucks. Cold streak? Game is too hard and it sucks etc.

Lots of people around here just don't realize that the best players in the sport only get on base 40% of the time, or less, and that the best teams in baseball lose around 40% of their games.
Baseball is beautiful because it's unpredictable (CoMeBaCk CoDe!!!!)
I’ve noticed I strikeout much less than before. Man this is frustrating, I want a choice to go back to a gameplay patch of my choosing.
Hitting too many home runs and have given more ground rule doubles in 3 games vs cpu than I had since release. I want them to hit against me, but there is clearly too much power behind the ball causing the abnormal amount of ground rule doubles.
Game has been tuned to be more arcade 100%. Don’t care what anyone says as it’s my opinion. The guys on show nation are happy cause “they are hitting tons of bombs now” .. their exact words.
I really think it’s time to find another hobby lol. Patches for all the good they can offer, have ruined sports video games. By the end of the games life you end up with something that is vastly different to what you had purchased.
Personally I didn't like 1.09, for me it took the hit variety completely away, everything either became a line drive or a pop up. 1.10 I'm seeing that hit variety that I saw out of the box back again, bloopers, infield hits, shots down the line, etc. Obviously YMMV based on sliders and the like, but I'm liking 1.10 far more than I did 1.09

Are you still using Default All Star for hitting?
Woah! What happened? Finally got to play today and it's like they flipped a switch to arcade mode or something. It feels like a pinball flipper. Even when my timing is off the ball is just shooting off of the bat. I wasn't a fan of the last patch but definitely prefer it to this situation. So from reading prior posts I guess he concensous is turning the solid hits slider down one, correct? Also, what is everyone doing for power?First game on the new patch and I had 4 homeruns through 5 innings. I had to quit out because I didn't want to skew my franchise stats. What's everyone doing for power with this new patch to get it back to pre-patch power numbers?
I hope a helmet fix is included in the next update it should be open so if you pick basic you should be able to pick no flaps that's for every player please open it up
    Positives through 4 games
    - missing pitches in the zone even with good timing (directional). Maybe the vision stat is actually playing a part finallay
    - with solid hits at 4 getting really nice hit variety
    Negatives
    - I am connecting for hits way out of the zone again. Hit a 2 RBI double on a sinker a good foot below the zone
    - so much for the strikeouts with the timing decrease. All star default sliders with only solid contact reduced to 4 only 4 strikeouts total in my last game between me and the CPU. Way to many 9-12 pitch at bats because of foul tips out of the zone.
    - way too much power. 12 homeruns just by me through 4 games.
All in all it seems like with the all of these patches bunched together SDS is TRYING, at least trying to find a positive and at least that's a good thing. Gam definitely playing better than after 1.09 with solid hits decreased by 1. May have to lower by 1 as well.

Are you still using Default All Star for hitting?

Yes. Default All Star Hitting and default HOF pitching has been my sweet spot. My runs allowed are a little low but hits/k’s/so’s all seem to be reasonable. I was hoping it would level out somewhat but still trending a little too positive for me in that department.

In the past, I've tended to bump solid hits up a notch so I like the feel of this patch at default. I've found that the CPU nibbles a lot more at the mid difficulties this year (All Star), and they don't give you nearly as many meatballs down the middle compared to last year...so when I do get a good one...it's time to grip it and rip it.

My experience has been just drop solid hits slider down one from wherever it is now and hitting will be back to pre patch 1.10
This just eliminates the “boost” they gave to line drives
    Nothing drastic

I despise adjusting sliders, but I have to admit, especially right now I'm glad they exist.
Playing several games with this patch at default I felt the ball was too lively off the bat. Now thanks to the ability to "counter their adjustment", I lowered solid hits slider by one and this game is playing beautifully again. Everything feels "normal" for me again. :)

That’s the beauty of this game over other sports titles. The slider adjustments actually work and you can notice subtle changes. Other games I feel like I spend more time chasing sliders all season than I do just playing and enjoying the game.

Yeah, I agree that solid hits at 4 is a must (no matter which difficulty setting one uses). The irony is that they put in a tweak to lower line drive frequency in 1.09 but it was just for DD - to offset the higher ratings. If they had put that tweak into all modes, I don't think any slider adjustments would be needed. (It's not that big of a deal....I just fine it amusing that they made the tweak for the audience less likely to appreciate it...)
Just had my most satisfying at bat post-patch. I’m losing 4-1 to the Phillies in the top of the 5th. I load the bases with no outs with an infield single, a solid line drive single just over the head of the second baseman and a hit batter. Cespedes hits a weak fly ball to center not allowing the run to score. Conforto next up gets behind 0-2. Striking out is not an option here with bases loaded and one out. I proceed to foul off the next 7 pitches barely making contact on a few of them. Finally on the 10th pitch of the at bat I get a hanging curveball on the outer part of the plate and and hit a low liner over the left center field wall for a grand slam and a 5-4 lead that I would never give up. I added some insurance runs late and won 11-5.

Try dropping the power slider by one and see how it feels

Looks like more patch tuning for me... hooray!
I’m considering deleting the game and going back to out of the box settings.
U think I’ll still have the vlad jr scan if I use the new roster I save?

    I'm honestly not sure.

I'm just going to go on and say that strikeouts are no longer an issue for me.
no but now Rosenthal is an issue now. I'll trade you a box of rosin bags & a Molina to be named later for him :)

He's definitely in a slump right now. 2nd blown save in as many attempts.

I guess you nixed a Molina for Rosenthal deal. Probably a good idea, the only Molina I have is Alfred

    What changed your mind?

    1) The more I played the more it seemed that my slider adjustment to drop solid hits to 4 for both me and CPU that it was having an effect to where the solid hits/extra base hits/homeruns weren't there. I moved back to default and it is playing fine. I think it was a knee jerk reaction based on 5 games.
    2) Honestly....it bothers me to not play at default. I don't know why, but I keep thinking the adjustments I make are having an adverse effect on the gameplay. So I keep "watching" to see that the game isn't adversely effected by the slider changes versus just playing and being in tune with the situation at hand.
