Next-Gen Madden 21 Snow Gameplay: AI Vs. AI Game - Bears Vs. Ravens

We were busy posting Madden 21 next-gen videos on YouTube over the weekend. We posted a comparison between next-gen and current-gen Madden, and we also posted a full gameplay video between the Bucs and Patriots. One other full game we posted was a next-gen Madden 21 snow game between the Bears and Ravens.

This is another AI vs. AI affair with a wild finish, which is maybe a good thing so you can see how the AI handles late-game situations and if anything has changed between current gen and next gen in that regard.

Thanks for all the support you’ve been giving us lately, and if you want to continue that then by all means continue to like the videos and subscribe to our YouTube channel.

  1. The snow looks awful. Insanely awful. How in the world did they market this as a feature and then ship with it looking like this?
Just a refresher to everyone... Here is what EA says about Frostbite, "Today Frostbite is the core piece of EA's one-team strategy; through the sharing of technology between studios we are creating a shared language for EA developers."
So they can all SHARE easily between studios... Why then does FIFA have better snow? And why does Battlefield have INCREDIBLE snow? How is this tech not being shared if that's the main selling point of their engine?

Still think the game looks better in Madden 20 with the 2080 Ti graphics card. Like to see it in person though, the colors in the video look kinda dull. The snow from afar looks bad for sure I think.

I actually really like the snow and rain in night games. Can’t help but wonder why light snow is the only option, I want blizzard to be an option, as in you can’t see your receivers past 25 yards because the snow is so heavy.

They are similar, but I think that the lighting in the next gen versions gives them the nod right now. Lighting makes a huge difference and the lighting in next gen has looked really good in some things I have seen. That combined with the more detailed uniforms/helmets, etc. make next gen look better even if not by much, imo.
Hopefully the two versions not being drastically different will allow EA to have 22 on the PC match the next gen versions. I know with Fifa they said in the past that they kept the PC version the same as the older versions to allow more people to be able to play it, but I don't think that argument will hold up as much with the Madden base being less global and being in a market with more PC's that are more modern and it doesn't look like the next gen version would be drastically more demanding on PC. PC's were far ahead of the PS4 and XB1 consoles when they released. The new power found in the consoles that has allowed EA to make the changes they've made are more CPU and memory dependent and less GPU dependent, and the average gaming PC these days has the horsepower in those departments to handle next gen Madden already. I'd also imagine a 10 or even 9 series card would still be able to handle the next gen version of Madden, maybe not maxed out, but on intermediate settings at a healthy FPS.

The fact that the only think that leaves marks in the snow is feet, really annoys me

Agree, would make a giant difference to deform properly when multiple players fall to the ground
Cutscenes and replays for the Xbox One X run at 60 fps.
On the "next-gen" systems those interactions run at 30 fps. Really disappointing.
As soon as I booted the game up for the first time on my Xbox Series X, everything has been underwhelming. Even Madden NFL 25 for the PS4 felt better at the time.
I'm happy for those enjoying the micro-improvements to gameplay but unfortunately, they weren't compelling enough for me. I'm on the verge of deleting in order to free up some space. Coming from a long time Madden fan, that's sad.

I know there will be some “hurrrr who cares about weather fix the gameplayyyyy” pushback on this, but honestly, it’s like we’ve been waiting for proper dynamic lighting, field degradation and weather for DECADES at this point, and they’ve cocked around with it for so long, by the time we get it, every single stadium will be turf with a retractable roof or dome and it won’t even matter anymore.
