NBA 2K20 Roster Update Adjusts Player Heights and Ratings Across the League

The latest NBA 2K20 roster update adjusts player heights, giving them their exact height, as measured by team physicians during training camp. Player heights have been off by 1 or 2 inches for years, so this gives the league consistency and integrity. How will it change the gameplay in NBA 2K20? It probably won’t, but feel free to let us know what you’re seeing.

As mentioned by Mike Stauffer, there are many adjustments across the league in this update, including over 165 players with a new overall rating.

2K will provide more detailed information on the latest roster update sometime tomorrow, so we’ll update this post at that time. In the meantime, the following players received a bump, let us know what you’re seeing.

  • Kyrie Irving +1 (Overall 92)
  • Joel Embiid +1 (Overall 92)
  • Luka Doncic +3 (Overall 90)

  • D’Angelo Russell -2 (Overall 85)

So I guess we got the first update of the year today, didn’t see a thread. Nunn and Herro up to 76, Bam at 81, Justise needs to be moved to PG as his primary position. Luka up to 90, Brogdon up to 86, Ingram up to 85, Drummond up to 89, Rose to 84, Marc Gasol down to 79, LMA and DD down to 86, SGA up to 83, Paschall up to 77, Trae at 89 and KAT at 90.
That's awesome! I was about to make a thread this week for upgrades

Oh yes. They also update all the players height according to NBA official data.
Finally the complaining might stop .

Did they updated pictures as well? I see 2001 Lakers Shaq and Kobe got their head shots changed. Shaq was definitely off-season taking that picture lol
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Devin Booker got a jumper increase.
    Young definitely got some badges
Jason Kidd on the 2001 Nets still getting disrespected. Missing all the HOF passing badges his peers have. Can't go both ways on that.

They only updated the current version of players heights. So kevin durant is still his original height on the all time teams compared etc.

Did Siakam get a ball control and speed with ball boost?
    What was it before?

    Oh come on! Lol...
They probably left the models the same height. And just changed the heights to shut you guys up.

I've seen it take a lot to boost big guys handle ratings. I fought to get AD and Cousins to 72 lol. That's because it's already way above for the position. Siakam isn't creating dribble. He's just jabbing and going by them. Maybe a simple size up. But nothing crazy.

Ouch..... You clearly didn't read my post. So now I won't read yours .
Because I'm clearly pissed when people just throw people under the bus with the "you don't watch him" line. I pulled his game. And yes it's should be where it's at. At most should be a 72 handle. He can get by bigs. But not sf. Yeah they are running invented pick and rolls with PG. Because he causes a mismatch. But he's not doing advance size up and hesi lol

This is why we don't have a ratings thread. People don't know how to talk to each others. They just say. "You suck." Or "you don't watch him". Or "you don't know basketball." That's clearly not the way to debate. Just use your words.
So I also pulled all of his games for this season. Still seeing the same thing I explained in the first post.

We’re not asking for him to handle the ball like a a guard but something is wrong if OG Anunoby has better playmaking skills than Siakam. If AD and Boogie get 72 ball control then Siakam should at least be 76-80 since attacking from the perimeter and in the open floor is where he scores most of his points. They gotta give him the downhill badge and quick first step at least. On commentary in 2k20, I it’s believe Doris Burke that calls him one of the fastest players in the league yet the game doesn’t represent it.
    https://youtu.be/P40rae7srYg
In my opinion they’re are scared that if they updated his speed, acceleration, and handles it would make his ovr rating too high for their liking unless they dock his intangibles . Same could be said about a lot of other players as well.
What’s odd to me is this was the first MAJOR Ratings update & it also included more player position updates but there is nothing released officially by NBA2K on Twitter or Facebook highlighting the changes.

And that's exactly what I'm talking about. When Giannis got a dribble boost. It took a damn long time. Because clearly putting into the high 70's would cause huge problems for balancing the game. I know Siakam is one of the fastest player in the league. You can find a countless post of people asking for his speed to get boosted. Which was huge last year. His speed with ball rating needs a boost. But his ball handle does not. At most 72-75. All the videos I've seen of him. He's just faster than whoever covering him and then blowing by with simple dribble moves.

The first changes usually go under the radar for the public. It's during the season when big changes to the overall ratings do they bring public attention to the roster. This is an OS favorite of mine. Rating changes and no one cares. Come Dec-Jan. That's when everyone starts coming out of the woodworks about overall ratings. It happens every year lol

    Yep, 2KHead and 2kmtcentral.

Damn...I could have just asked, lol? I was googling like crazy trying to find that website. I used to use the 2kmtcentral website. I see that site, in general, still have some nice in-depth information.

I still go there. I asked about why they removed it. But still no answer lol

Honestly, it seems like they lost "access" to the NBA 2K "database". When it was working, that site was way too accurate for it to be someone punching the numbers in. When I found the site, I know that I completely stopped taking pictures and comparing them to figure out what ratings went up and down respectively.

Mike handles that website from what I've heard.
There's a huge difference between handling a ball and dribbling the ball. Some bigs (Siakam, Bam, Olynyk, Pau and Marc) are decent with the ball in their hands. They're not gonna break your ankles or anything like that, but they can control the ball enough to do some crafty things. I'm not sure of how that would translate into the different rating categories in 2K. For these types of players, which ratings do you think should impact their ability to not necessarily be a dribble God, but to be able to be crafty with the ball?

Players heights were updated on 2kratings but not the overall ratings, Trae Young still 85 OVR.

It was probably 2K16. They had a special type of card in MyTeam called Dynamic Ratings. Those cards had the same stats as the cards in the official roster, so whenever the official roster was updated those cards ratings were updated as well.

That year was underappreciated. The next year it was gone. And we could see a player's development. I think I cried lol

This is pretty easy to measure as any big with handle is going to post higher PNR and Iso rates
PF/C with 10+ PnR poss so far this year
    18% Jayson Tatum
    14% Pascal Siakam
    13% Danilo Gallinari
    12% Rudy Gay
    8% Giannis Antetokounmpo
PF/C with 10+ Iso poss so far this year
    16% Giannis Antetokounmpo
    13% Jayson Tatum
    12% Eric Paschall
    11% Pascal Siakam
    11% Tristan Thompson
    10% Montrezl Harrell
    9% Danilo Gallinari
    8% Nikola Jokic
    5% Anthony Davis
Post Moves (PostOff) is essentially ball handle for the post.

He just needs to be able to dribble period. His ball handling as it is now is too low to do anything with. As soon as you get bumped you pick up your dribble like he's every other big man in the game. The reason he's so good for the Raptors is because he's a mismatch for the majority of 4's because he's too fast and he's too big for the majority of 3's. Thats why its only guys like Giannis, Green, Embiid who are tall, strong and quick that can effectively guard him (and he still cooked Draymond in the Finals). You still can't play like Siakam does irl in game. All I've been able to replicate are his post ups against smaller guys and hitting him in transition.
Nice. If anyone is interested in exploring some different rosters, I would suggest you check out my spreadsheet below with edited player shots. I will be doing ratings very very shortly and probably even tendencies too.
Have they done anything with accessories and shorts lengths for PNO?
It seems that in MyLeague files and offline Play Now these things translate, or at least can be edited, but for PNO I see Lebron with baggy shorts all the time and most players still wearing white or black shoes.
Would love to see players like Devin Booker look like they do on court in PNO - playing the AI this year is really boring.

Facts!!! I heard another update just dropped. Hopefully they updated the accessories.
Not one of the updated players but can any Hawks fans tell me if Damian Jones is living up to his 75 rating? Judging from his Warriors days that’s WAY too high. Spellman is already giving us way more and he’s only a 74. Also, at 77, Looney is only 2 pts higher when actually he’s head and shoulders above what DJ ever was. Is it more realistic to knock DJ down to 69 or 70? Or has he made a leap?

What’s funny about that is the fact that his ball control on his heat check card in MyTeam goes up to 77 when activated. His speed and speed and speed with ball are never upgraded on the card but you’re still able to do some of the things he does in real life. The moments of the week MyTeam cards like Tatum (92 overall), Ingram (92 overall) and Luka (94 overall) actually reflect what they’re doing this season. This tells me that they know what they’re doing and only want the big name players like Giannis, Kawhi, LeBron, Curry, Harden, etc to be rated correctly.

Hawks fan here, no way is he a 75 rated player. The way he plays he shouldn't even hit the 70 mark. He teases you time from time with his athleticism and mobility but that's about it. He is absolutely awful at boxing out and rebounding, talk about a waste of athletic talent at damn near 7 foot. Don't even get me started on his feel for the game. Let's just say that i'm ready for the Jones experiment to end.
Nice, I see Ice Trae's 3pt rating went from an 82 to a 92, Also Fultz went from a 74 to a 75. I noticed the archetypes changed as well.
Bam goes from a mid-range finisher to a Glass cleaner lockdown. Fultz goes from a slasher to a slashing playmaker. Dragic goes from a slashing playmaker to a inside-out playmaker, and Lonzo goes from a 2 way-playmaker to a 2 way- 3pt Playmaker. Nicely done 2K!!
any tendency updates? I'm not using the default roster but I know for example the three point tendencies were all jacked up with 80% of the players having a three point tendency of 50 plus for right center no matter how they play IRL or where their hot zones were.

Right on queue. They gotta stop playing with my guy Siakam now and give him his handle. Up to 27.8 ppg now.

Literally about to post this lol. Someone please tell me you can do this with 69 ball handle and 64 speed with ball lmao
This is just going to turn into his speed thing all over again. I still think 75 Max right now. Call me in game 20 lol. And I watched that live lol

    75-80 is fine.
    Siakam 2020 (44% On-Ball)
    19% PostUp (32 poss)
    14% PnR (23 poss)
    11% Isolation (18 poss)
    Siakam 2019 (27% On-Ball)
    12% PostUp (148 poss)
    10% Isolation (121 poss)
    5% PnR (65 poss)
    Siakam 2018 (9% On-Ball)
    5% Isolation (27 poss)
    2% PostUp (12 poss)
    2% PnR (10 poss)
    Siakam 2017 (6% On-Ball)
    6% PostUp (15 poss)
    DNQ Isolation
    DNQ PnR
His on-ball Usage is comparable to what Danilo Gallinari has been doing for awhile.
Gallinari continuing to put up historic league leading numbers for wing players offensive efficiency..
    Better lower his rating.
Goes from an 85 to an 84 to an 82 since 2k19 when he's done nothing but stay the same if not improve :brickwall:brickwall:brickwall:brickwall:brickwall
Can we get a accessories update now? Only thing 2k updates is taking Lebron’s headband on and off. Kawhi still wearing leggings from when he was on the spurs, at least update the superstars if you’re not going to touch anybody else.

Lol Jeebs this thread would just be filled with his highlights taking people off the dribble. Hopefully the win over LA with everyone watching + winning player of the week will get 2k to watch some film and rate him accordingly

I'm not saying that's not nice. That just goes up there with what I'm saying. It's not a bunch of dribble moves. It's just catching guys off balance and blowing right by them.
Speed with Ball, acceleration, and maybe some badges in that area.
