NBA 2K20 Patch 1.08 Available - Patch Notes Included
NBA 2K20 game update 1.08 is available now. Unfortunately, 2K doesn’t include the details on what the many, many more fixes are, which is disappointing. With that said, check out the official patch notes they released today, and let us know what you’re seeing.
- Improved performance for PS4 Pro users.
- Improvements to the MyPLAYER Nation feature in MyCAREER. Help lead your team to the title!
- Fixed an issue that would sometimes prevent users from joining their friends in the Neighborhood, and/or would sometimes load the invited friend into the wrong location.
- Many, many more fixes included to improve the overall experience of NBA 2K20.

ALL OF THESE ...
Plus MyPlayer Nation controller glitch fix as well.
Also, "Many more fixes". How insulting is that?! We deserve so much better.
They don’t for a reason anymore, if they claim something is fixed and it’s not people start making post about suing 2K.

Exactly plus with people complaining about patches, can’t say I really blame them.
Lmao that's no excuse not to post in depth patch notes. 2k needs to get it together.
Back to the topic. I'm happy for the PS4 pro users. They finally answered yall prayers lol.

Did you even read the post about developer-OS relationship???
That’s what I was talking about, nothing bout patch notes.
And this is a good example of why we don’t get visited anymore.

Majority of the feedback is coming directly from Twitter. OS nor Reddit is getting much love nowadays since Twitter is an easier way to reach people it seems. I'll say it again regardless of a thread or post. 2k lacks transparency. No one is suing 2k for not fixing something. Many more fixes just isn't gonna cut it.

Take Two is worth billions. I’m sure they’re not worried about some 15 year old scrub on Twitter or Reddit threatening to sue them lol.
What does that have to do with anything, not to mentioned the numerous YouTube videos that will be posted accusing 2K of lying.

So maybe don't say something is fixed if it isn't? Lol that is a terrible excuse for this. Other games list out detailed patch notes all the time, I've not seen one company get sued over them
Do you think they would say something was fixed that was not, I am not going to pretend that I have all the answers but something clearly did not transfer from their version of the patch to the retail version.

That's true and I'm from the old school when out the box you got what you got lol so they're appreciated. But they really could use an extra month. 8 patches in 2 months is a bit excessive and now they've broken other stuff so now a hotfix is needed.

Agree with your comment %10000. I was actually able to play decent defense online last month when i locked in. But i tried to play three games online this morning, and my great defenders in MyTeam were getting cooked. Just had to turn it off before i broke a controller. SMH

I am glad they continue trying to improve the game, as long as they dont screw something else up, which they have been know to do, and it usually is the later patches when this happens.
Ive been enjoying the gameplay since the previous patch, so I really hope this patch hasnt screwed something up for us offline guys. Because IMO other than the issues I mentioned, the gameplay was smoothest its ever been.
Look at any game, especially 'competitive' games. Even Smash Brothers finally came around to giving detailed patch notes and changes so competitive players could adjust tactics accordingly.
Yet 2k gets a pass because people are going to complain anyway??
Purposefully lacking transparency (thus accountability) is nefarious as hell. They already adjust VC earnings in MyCareer without any word. This just seems to be the way they run business now and it's a damn shame.

I always after a patch go back to default slider settings, just to see how it plays, so I know it wasnt do to my sliders settings.I dont know maybe I just got remarkably better at shooting overnight:smile:
Not trying to start a PC/console debate but I made a mod in about 5 minutes that got rid of all that on PC. It is literally as easy as changing text in a SCNE file so ya, they could patch it. Easily.
I am just not a child, who can think beyond 2K is lazy and I can do it better than they can, more people should try it.

... No wait... Here is the ending to that play....
I have another one....
Here is the second time it happen....
people have been crying about hands up defense since launch this is 2k's solution.
IRL you gotta jump to contest a layup not just get your hands up and think that thwarts everything smh.
Omg...2k has got to be kidding smh
I dont get why you guys are in here acting like they would specifically tune the offense to have bigs bringing the ball up the court.
Yall know good and well Czar aint about that.

The bigs bringing up the rock has been in the game since before this last patch..I thought that the ball handling slider was too high and lowered it..whether the czar is about it ir not it was or is in the game..
Not something Ive seen at all
Even in feedback threads I didnt see a single soul mention it either
Either way, its being talked about here like its new and as if it was intentionally done
I doubt it, but we've been told the consequences of patches plenty of times
Has it been reported to the right people is the actual question..

My man I can tell you that its happened to me before this patch I chalked it up to an anomaly in the game since it didnt happen every game or frequently which is why people probably didnt report it..Im in agreement that czar probably didnt knowingly tune it but there are alot of things czar isnt about that are still in the game such as lack of charges shooting fouls etc that have been reported directly to tthe right people..but lets just hope the bigs bringing up the rock gets fixed as a starting point..

It's existed since day 1. I see it all of the time in the Pro-Am and Rec Center. After a dead ball or timeout it'll place the PF or Center as the primary receiver for the inbound. Makes no sense and has never been adjusted to prevent it from happening.
EDIT: just to clarify, I have noted this on reddit. I prefer submitting feedback there.

Was in the game since day 1.
Made a big and it had me take it up the court at times.
Personally appreciated them to give me the ball from the start rather then me spamm pass the ball lol

I've only played offline this year, user vs user with current teams and cpu vs user with classic teams. It almost happens every game.
The computer may not have blown my timeouts as easily in this one game either. 3 point shooting seemed higher but just one game.
Lol my man I just thought you might want to include those other things in their since you seem to have the ability to report them..inter netting on the forums?..I hear ya chief.
I was looking for a comment mentioning this. I was going nuts getting blocked like crazy on every single drive last 2 days, until this morning KAT blocked my layup from the weak side by swinging his arm near my player, and later on blocking it with the armpit jumping 2 secs before my player started the layup. I was like - what the heck.
I play on default superstar with some foul sliders up... had to -5 CPU blocks, seemed a tad better, but have to test more to see if it's ok now.
It seemed to me that they boosted defensive awareness and defense is kinda better, but they really need to fix this blocking situation ASAP.

my observations, taken with a grain of salt since I'm playing an expansion team and both games were against the Clippers (the scheduler in 2k LOVES home and home series). I had a terrible time finishing around the rim. I went from finishing too well to not being able to hit any layup that had a player near me. Ton of shots blocked. And Kawhi was insane on D. Marcus Morris literally couldn't dribble against him. You would have thought he was Manute Bol with how EVERY time he got near Kawhi he lost the ball. He was virtually useless when Kawhi was on the court.

I've seen it a bit. The bigger issue I've seen with bigs, both before this patch and after is strange matchups on D. I'll have times where after a timeout or if I switch back from zone to man to man my 4 is matched up on their PG. Not in transition or anything, but actually after a side out or made basket. And my 1 and 2 stay swapped in who they guard.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
the perimeter defense was unstoppable. Hard to drive, normal driving layups or dunk animations would become heavily contested or blocked. Thought I was going insane because i literally was getting dominated and it was so hard to win games.
Although I didnt like how the defense man handled me I am glad that I couldn't just blow by defenders and dunk on them all game with Tmac.

This....100% this....
Why does 2k do this? I was loving this game offensively. yeah defensively (as always) it was a struggle and needed lots of work, but offensively this version was amazing. And now? Not so much. Overpowered defenders who you can't dribble within 3 feet of with anyone but PGs, poor finishing in the paint, and too many blocks. Now mind you the CPU finishes just fine and the jury is still out on blocks (might be slightly overpowered for me but it also might have been poor decisions to challenge Baynes and JV with smaller players).
I'm hoping they revert back to previous versions.
Speaking of updates, anyone else had it with having to go back to the main menu for updates? near as I can tell as an offline myleague player, none of these have anything to do with me and are just myteam updates and ways to keep offering me specials on myteam I have no interest in.

I found it pretty easy to get a blow by animation with previous versions but this current defense of ALWAYS recovering on defense and making the shooting percentage in the mid to high 30s is a bit ridiculous lol

Why the **** did they change this

They screwed us. The gameplay is ridiculous now. Just making a frigging layup is a struggle again
Away from the game for about two weeks and a patch (or an update in between, whatever) switches up one of my favorite playing 2K's ever.
The freedom of movement is gone and we are back to the glued on defenders...
I hadn't had this much pick up and play fun vs. the CPU in a long time and now it's gone. Really disappointed.
I get it from a strategy standpoint. My AI teammates are so awful getting back and picking up in transition, the most efficient way of playing is to constantly race down court as fast as possible. Then you add in reaction time. While I'm missing a shot, my defender is already turning and racing down court, and my teammates certainly are going to fail to pick him up properly. And on turnovers I've noticed on the countless replays I've run (after I get beat in transition AGAIN, I often run it back to see what went wrong. I'll admit many times it's my controlled player that sets it in motion, but there is a lot of others stuff going on) that CPU controlled players can be facing the other way from the ball, yet take off in transition on a turnover WITHOUT turning to ever see the ball was turned over. And without time for a teammate to shout something. Their reaction is instantaneous. They are guarding one of my players with their back to the ball. Pass picked off or steal and as the CPU gains possession, without turning or anything, the CPU takes off down the court.
You can't defend this stuff. I realize the limitations of a video game in that respect. Which means the programmers need to realize the challenges AI defenders have getting back and picking up in transition and nerf the CPU desire to constantly exploit this. It's the equivalent of what online players call "cheese" IMO. Exploiting something the game does poorly and you as a user can't control well enough to stop.
Strangely enough if I play zone, the CPU doesn't run nearly as much. It's as if my AI teammates are better at running to their zone, than picking up a man (or even better running back to protect the basket) in transition. But I hate playing zone because it ends up being a game of "can they hit threes" and if they do, they win, if they keep clanking them, I win.
I have another one....

I don’t really agree about the layups being too hard. There are definitely more blocks on them but I’m in the minority that felt layups and close shooting have always been too easy on default. NBA teams shoot 60% at the rim and I would guess if people check their season stats most people on default would have been way higher. But again, offline sliders can help too.
😂😂😂
NOPE!!!!
MyLeague looks hella ugly rn don’t want to play it as the 5v5/NBA mode has been completely neglected this year - worse than previous.
No attention to detail or any of the little things that typically make 2k such a great game.
I would hope it’s because of the incoming Next Gen consoles but it’s still not excusable imo.
Won’t buy 2k on this generation again and I typically wait a year before moving to next gen.

This patch has turned defender back to the cheese when the game came out. I’m getting blocked from behind by Lebron after AD gets the offensive rebound and I’m going straight up. Standing vertical block once the call is out of AD’s hands an inch from the hoop.
I’m getting blocked by Kyle Kuzma from behind as I am going up for a 2 handed dunk (goes up 1 handed) and Kuzma jumped before I even went up - blocking me on the way down.
How do I share video clips like you do? This is literally in the game I just played now in PNO.
Kuzma is playing lockdown defense on Lebron and making AD miss in the paint.
I’m actually done with this game after this patch.
It’s a joke.
You just start to enjoy it and hope they patch the legitimately BROKEN things in the game and then just break it even more.
Who the **** asked for unrealistic blocks and lockdown defense from bad defenders???
Last I heard people were saying that scoring in the paint was already a myth unless in transition??

actually most of the community has said paint defense was a myth all year. It just comes down to the people in these devs ear have no bball iq...they dont think you have to actually contest layups. There were also a lot of blow by complaints by people who clearly never watched NBA basketball.
I noticed what you said 2 weeks ago when in my career anthony davis suddenly had issues scoring in the paint. This recent patch made it even worse cause everyone can affect layups now and block you when they're steps behind.

lol played a game in JRC last night against a squad and this was pretty much all the offense.
got called for a few fouls as well as i tried to get around the moving screens.
pretty much seems to have to invest in pick dodger.
people are greening from well beyond the 3 point line.
not sure what the issue is with steals and fouls.
seems like you get a steal rather then a foul when you just run into a ball handler.
this patch makes the game like last years only with defense on the perimiter even more handicapped....
dont think im even going to try my big as **** seems fked up to.
After the VC grabbing, and the mess. 8 patches and still glitches galore, and still money grabbing at users. Not to mention the lies that were told about the game prior, I have officially decided to retire 2k20, and just pick up Madden next year.
It's truly sad. I love basketball. As long as they update rosters, as long as they are nice, and honest in their dev/marketing team, and as long as they don't money grab, I will be back. Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of lies, and apparently they aren't doing any more patches? They did 8 patches and there are still several flaws.
Yes, we are frustrated because when the game is starting to give you a glimpse of real NBA and sparks some joy, it gets patched for some obscure reason (no patch notes given) and suddenly it gets worse. And the same cycle happens EVERY-SINGLE-YEAR. And add legacy problems that persist for years!
Sometimes I wonder how this game could still be endorsed by the NBA, because it's so full of micro transactions and other stuff that in the past put in trouble triple A games (just look at what happened between Disney and EA on Star Wars Battlefront, where pay-to-win logic has been cancelled at the end) and here is shifting all the attention away from the real game. And the NBA is such a great organization, maybe the best out there, that in my opinion it deserves more.
Being an NBA fan and an (almost) old-timer who always loved this game (the offline part ONLY), yes, I'm frustrated at how the game is being represented in the last few years
Nah...it's worth $30. As consumers, we have so many expectations for the game that we turn anthills into mountains. Personally, I stopped taking the game "serious" and treat it for what it is...a videogame. I don't worry about the little things anymore nor that it's not living up to its claim as a "sim" game. I play PNO, MyCareer, and Rec, and I've having mostly a good time. If anything, my opponents and random teammates are the things that frustrate me the most about the game.

Maybe I'm getting used to it, but I upped the sliders for inside/layup/close and lowered the CPU block slider and now I'm getting some solid games. Plenty of threes from the CPU. I've recently played games where i've held teams to 95, 107, 110, and 123. So I've had a nice variety.
I’m seeing so many players trying this cheese consistently in the last 2 days and I barely saw it after one of the earlier patches.
Either I have just been unlucky and came across at least 10 people doing this cheese consistently in the last 15 hours or there’s a rumour on the street it’s a viable strategy again.
They shoot about 50/60% off these shots and as they are trash they don’t care about playing losing basketball - speaking about the Rec and Neighbourhood specifically.
Seeing slashing/finishing builds doing it no matter the size, from PG to C.
