I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty positive they've added an offline career mode for TGC2.
This does have a career mode as far as I know.
This is from a review back in February:
Nice! Thanks. I'll have to keep my eye on that for more details then. That's one of the things that TGC lacked for me. Not an online gamer here, so for me TGC was just the ability to make courses, play random courses against... nobody. lol
Love to have the ability to play a career mode offline similar to how EA's games did it. I get I wont have licensed golfers/names to play against, and that's fine, but to have some simulated competition in a season offline would be great for someone like me.
Thanks!
I suspect it's just for looks?

Yeah, this is why I am afraid to buy it. I completely agree. It looks good though.
Are you guys playing on PS4 for those who are buying?
Sorry, but JNPG on the easiest difficulty was easier than TGC1.
Can't compare TGC2 difficulty in detail due to NDA, but it is FAR better than TGC1 in gameplay.

I have decided I think to go for PS4 as I think the societies will be a HUGE part of the gameplay. I would imagine more guys here would be PS4 than PC.
Edit:: actually think I'm gonna go PC. They said PC would have a free move camera while consoles won't. I like going around courses checking out ideas of how to do things on course designer etc.
You're probably right but speaking only for myself and how much fun I've had playing Injustice 2 in our OS guild it's actually the main reason I am considering buying the game.
Do you recall at what point this was said in the stream? I only saw segments of the stream on archive when I got home from work yesterday, but I would like to hear in context where they said this.
BTW, from what I've heard Shaun West respond to the question about what the target frame rates were in the console versions of TGC 2, with "we should see 30 FPS on the consoles"; if you have a PC that's halfway worth its salt, you're going to see considerably better frame rates than that. I was in the beta and my PC: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1 GHz, Geforce GTX 1060 3 GB SC Gaming, ACX 2.0, 8GB PC-1600 DDR3 RAM, Windows 10 64 bit system ran TGC 2 at double that speed with 2X MSAA and 8X AF, at nearly maxed out detail quality settings in game.
I hope Shaun was being overly conservative with that comment about 30 FPS on the consoles because this new swing interface really deserves to be >40 FPS to be fully appreciated.

Speaking of frame rates, is this going to be optimized for PS4 Pro and Scorpio?
No. The stream from yesterday, there was a question asking if they were going to patch support for those systems and the answer was basically no from my understanding.
ok, well that would have put me off the fence and preordering but I'm still interested...
Not sure I get this. Societies sound like an awesome multiplayer feature and something that was needed.
The ability to have an in-society leaderboard and run seasons with regular events and majors? I think that's exactly what golf club needed.
Not sure who all watched the streams yesterday but socities looked absolutely phenomenal.

I completely agree, this is a huge selling point. I'm not sure why no one has done it before.
They were asked this at the very end of the stream, and they didn't know the answer at this time. They did say that 'Rami would know' but he was not part of the broadcast. The fact that the producer (Shaun West) didn't know tells me that there's nothing being done special at the outset that the Pro or the Scorpio would benefit from. I don't see why they couldn't at least run at a higher frame rate with Vsync disabled though.
I thought the audio was worse than TGC1 but I'm hoping it was just the stream. Iron shots sounded like a cheap plastic club hitting a teed up golf ball. I couldn't hear the whoosh of the shaft nor the sole interacting with the turf. I would love to see a divot go flying off but that's fine. It just sounded off.
And a minor visual thing but those balls are teed up pretty high for iron shots.
Other than that I am sold.
Are you able to play multiplayer in offline career mode or even a season with multiplayer, being able to sit on the couch with a few buddies and play either offline career or season mode?
I will play it enough and enjoyed the courses people made etc. that I will get a ton of use out of it.
Looking forward to the release less than 2 weeks away.
I saw that Amazon.com has the PC DVD version listed. If you're an Amazon Prime member, you can get it for $31.99 as a pre-order.
