Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football 2019 game update 1.02 is available now for PlayStation 4, while the Xbox One update may not be available until Monday.

Read the patch notes below. If you have reported an issue, and it’s not on the list, the report has been received. However, some issues require more time to address, so this patch addresses other critical fixes.

  • Fixed an issue that would cause the logo selector to pop up under the platform keyboard.
  • Fixed a memory leak in customization mode that would cause a crash.
  • Improved the reaction time for DB’s. DB reaction time is based on the player’s Intelligence rating.
  • A field goal or PAT attempt that goes between the uprights after hitting one of the uprights, now properly records the score.
  • Adjusted the lead blocking once the ball carrier has crossed the LoS so that a blocker will not bypass the closet defender going down field.
  • Added Overall to Red shirt list.
  • Corrected column help for Red shirt list.
  • A player tasked to field a kick will no longer jog towards the ball target if he should just let the kick bounce out through end zone.
  • Added additional error handling to the coin toss routine.
  • Updated player position display (on depth charts, player cards, etc…) to display position terminology based on the selected rule set. SB(12 man) == TE(11 man).
  • Fixed a bug with Canadian Dynasty Mode not loading the default bowl game logo properly.
  • Fixed a US College Field Goal Rule issue that would always place the ball on the 25 yard line regardless of where it was kicked from.
  • Improved performance opening/closing the logo selector.
  • Fixed an issue with Roughing The Passer being called too often.
  • Fixed an issue that would prevent the QB from snapping the ball if you called a time out after putting players in motion.
  • Fixed an issue with fumbles that would occur on specific plays if they were flipped in execution direction.
  • Corrected an issue that would prevent you from exiting customize if you cancelled out of editing a specific player.
  • Updated the stock logo collection.
  • Updated first name database
  • Fixed an issue on XBox that would save an older version of a 130 team dynasty file on top of a newer version (resulting in undoing edits)
  • Corrected an issue that would prevent overtime games in US College mode from progressing to the next turn if the first team with possession scored.
  • Fixed an issue that would reset the second half kickoff team if a team ran a kickoff play to end the first half.

A few additional notes:

They’ve made a few adjustments to DB and WR play. The goal is to shut down the cheese deep passing. It’s still possible to get assignment mismatches, putting a LB on a WR will get you burned. But hopefully, this stops that problem.

The hope is that it doesn’t completely shut down the passing game. They understand that a lot of people like defense, but a lot of people also like to be able to throw downfield. It may take a few tries to find that balance.

Along with the DB and WR end, they have toned down the defensive line rush a bit, in an effort to get QB’s a little bit more time in the pocket. Like coverages, defensive pressure is something that needs to be balanced out.

  1. For those looking for a new column with overall rating under the Redshirt Players section, don't make the same mistake I did.
    The overall is now located next to the position and star rating part of the screen.
    Also, it might be just me, but I was unable to load up my previous dynasty save file without the game crashing. I even shut down my PS4 Pro and started it up again.

    We are being told by Microsoft that the update for XBox will not be available until at least next week. Sorry for the additional delay but once submitted, the process is out of our hands.

    Thanks for this. Are you looking at fixing the running game (blocking and QB/RB handoff collisions) for a future patch? I know these notes mention improved run blocking once the LOS is reached, but having a defender in the backfield before the handoff occurs prevents the runner from ever reaching the LOS. Also, is it possible to map a stiff arm or tackle break to the currently unused Y/triangle button? I'm waiting on starting my dynasty until after gameplay is cleaned up a bit. So I'm hoping further improvements to the running game are on your radar.
    Any impresión on how DB play? My biggest issue is how DB let the wr get deep so easily. This is holding me in buying.

    The DB play is much better for both man and zone. Seems they fixed the CB reaction time (and perhaps speed), so CBs keep up with the receivers much better. I still don't see a lot of safety help over the top from the AI, but that might be a positioning issue-- they hug the middle of the field a lot. In any event, the CBs are at least there to challenge for the ball or make a tackle on deep throws. You can't spam streaks or go routes as you could before, but they are still slightly over-powered IMO.
    They also fixed a big issue with run blocking. OL weren't blocking linebackers at all. They do now, and running is a lot better. Some of the run plays still don't work because the animations are too slow, but there are a few run plays that work.
    It's a more playable game now, but it's still pass heavy because the run animations are too slow. The AI has a real tough time running on every mode.
    We are looking into the run play design to see if we can speed up the handoffs. We are also looking at adding gameplay sliders to one of the future content updates.
    This is why everyone should support this game. YES, it has issues but this development team truly cares about their product and they put the big triple A companies to shame with their support. They could take a lesson from them. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this game.

    Agreed. That’s why I had no problem giving these guys 30 bucks!
    So first of all I want to thank you for all the hard work it has really paid off I'm playing on the PS4. Now since the update there has been a few little issues watching the computer play each other one team kicked a field goal and was not credited with it. On another field goal that was missed the ball rolled out of Bounds at the 6-yard yard-line . The next play instead of me getting the ball where they kicked from. they started from their own six which resulted in me sacking them for a safety.
    Also I have experience several crashes after two or three games and recruiting not sure if it's memory loss seems as though that's the case. Like I said before hot routes would be a good thing to add or maybe a flip the play at the line of scrimmage I also feel defensively you need to add a deep Zone or a blitz feature for individual players but great job so far I'm having a lot of fun with the game you also need some sort of award for the end of the season maybe a trophy case so we know how we've done io0n the past I do like how you can archive the stats from past seasons but it doesn't show that I won a national championship or what bowl games who has won Heisman things like that are important thanks for all your help you are definitely my favorite football company creating greatness keep up the good work
    Something must be done to the simulator all the teams that have the best players do not win as well as my team being better than most that I play almost never end in a win if I simulate please update this with the next content update so the teams with the best players can have the statistics that are similar to if I actually play the game maybe some sort of system that can mirror the play calls from past games or some sort of different method and applying all the factors once the depth chart has been edited and the best players are added 2 defense I've been using two-way wide receivers as DB's either way if my team is rated 10-15 points higher then the team I'm playing there should be a lower percentage of upsets
    I just want them to add more styles. That is what makes the college game so intriguing and fun in my opinion when running a dynasty. One week you may be playing a spread option team, the next a pro style, then a triple option.
    Can we get some sort of elaboration on what the defenses are supposed to be and what their assignments are? The CPU got an update to “Reading Cover 2 Coverage” and yet I don’t even know what defense is supposed to be Cover 2.

    You can also go to your installed games - press start and then look for file/game info and it should list 3.0.50 as that's the most recent version on Xbox.
