When you say we can edit team info, does that include history?
Can we set it where Indiana Catholic has won 11 national championships, etc?

    Dude....?
We should really prioritize what we would like to have in this game. Here's what I would like to see:
    Free of bugs.
    Slightly better graphics.
    Better free flowing animations.
    - RBs pushing off the OL.
    - Spin moves that have a juke incorporated into (more realistic looking). not a figure skating type move.
    - Better Pass defense animations that go beyond the defender turning and jumping with both hands in the air.
    - WRs/Defenders catching balls mid-stride of a pass instead of stopping dead in their tracks.
    Better customization
    - More jersey type. Not all QBs have loose sleeves. At least not in the U.S.
    - File/Roster sharing.
    - Multiple logo options for jerseys and stadiums (LSU's tiger eye for midfield / tiger head + "LSU" letters for helmet).
These are just a few things. Not whether I can add to my teams history or not. That should be important to what we all want in a college football game.
Hey I just saw the trailer it was excellent 👍 definitely a day one purchase so much was put into this year's game it's mind boggling that such a small team was able to pull it off in a one year cycle. Spear you and your team should d be very proud of what you guys did so far I know this is just another step in the process and you are now where near your goal but still thumbs up. Quick question will we be able to change the field size from American to Canadian size also will a full tutorial be available. Thanks
Great stuff. It's very encouraging that Canuck Play is stepping up and offering an alternative (and pretty cool to hear The Arkells!)
The only thing that seems to leap out at me in any critical sense is the way the camera tracks the ball on passing plays, though after rewatching it seems like less of an issue. Otherwise, the animations seem like they're a tremendous leap forward from (and much smoother than) Maximum 18.
Nice touch on the real-time post-play animations and "SACK" graphic on the score bug.
I'm willing to be lenient and understanding of what the developers were able to accomplish. What they did accomplish seems very impressive, especially with all the customization and Dynasty/Career options. It's evident that a lot of work went in, and I'm looking forward to next month!

    Right.
And I, as someone who understands this is a really small dev team (compared to say, EA Sports), am simply asking if there's an editable team history section, not requesting that one be put in.
Not improved graphics, intricate animations, file sharing (which won't happen because of the EA/NCAA business), etc.
I personally have absolutely no idea what Maximum Football 18 was like. But tons of people are saying this game is a huge improvement from last year. So let's focus on that.

It's almost as if he said that the only thing he cares about is whether or not the team's history is editable.
    TripleCrown9
    He caught me.

Team history isn't editable, but you can change the Indiana Catholic name to Notre Dame or whatever else you want. You can change teams names, colors, city etc...... Total customization when it comes to that.
This is a proud day for you, Spear! I bet you've been waiting to show this off for a long, long time! It's really shaping up, and it's incredible what just two people have been able to accomplish within a year's time.
Definitely want to see and hear raw gameplay footage at some point.

Yeah I got that, just wanted to check how far the editing goes.
No big deal, I'm still buying it.

Year one man with a small team.............you know how it goes. As the sales grow so will the game. Have to give it some time obviously. People just have to be open minded. Glad to see you're buying man. Welcome aboard.

    Year 3, actually.
Year 1 was Canadian Football 2017 for XB1 & Steam
    Year 2 was Maximum Football 2018 for XB1 & PS4
    And now were here.

Ha. Thanks for that! Also branding, trailer, trolling people on Discord...
Feedback has been very positive so far. We know we can't compete with AAA games and we are not trying to right now. We are focused on improvements each release. We are very proud of what we've accomplished together in a short amount of time.
Graphics are ehh which is what I’m looking for.  However, the effort is there. I’m in to support the team and hard work overall. Great work to get this to where you have.
    Spear
Thank you for all the support guys! Together we will continue to grow our game!

Looks good. Great job all around over there.
Wow... trailer looks amazing, day one purchase for sure, the jump from last year is insane, I just don’t even have words to express how impressive it is especially when you consider the size of the dev team. Extremely impressive guys.. Cannot wait to pick this up!
This looks great. More than happy to support these guys for their hard work. Haven’t purchased the other game this year so I’m happy that this looks so promising. Congrats guys.

Buying this as soon as it's available. Love the customization! Look guys it's not Madden and in a lot of ways that's a good thing. This is a small indie company with just a few people working on it. They don't have the budget of a big company like EA but if we support them they could someday grow to the point where Madden will have competition and that will be good for us gamers. For a small company I can tell they worked their butts off to improve the game so much from last year. So you get my respect and support and applause for a job well done and in time this game will be awesome.
Purchasing two copies for my teenage boys for their PS4's. I would pick a third copy up for myself if there were a PC version. Is a PC version being considered down the road? I really hope so.
I have been emulating NCAA 2011 and/or 2006 for PS2 on PCSX2 for years for my dynasty fix. It would be great to one day have a PC native college football game.
Regardless, the game is looking fantastic, especially the dynasty mode. I will show my support for what you are building here. I am looking forward to having several living-room battles vs my boys on PS4 version of Maximum Football. I wish you guys success. Go Kentucky Wildhogs!!

    Looks great, guys!
Any chance at all of landing on the Switch in the future?

Applied to be on Switch but Nintendo declined us.

Really liking what Im seeing so far. Congrats!
A couple minor details I noticed that could be fixed rather easily (i'd assume)
    1. On game scoreboard, only display rankings of teams #25 or better
    2. Add some padding to the text in recruiting ("Soft Sell", "Hard Sell")
Another note, like seeing the speed of passes are reasonable where user defenders can actually react!
THanks for all the effort and hard work!

I will be purchasing day one. Do we have a release date yet? Any advantages on Xbox one over regular PS4?

Most likely end of Sept. We recently resubmitted for cert so we should know the exact date soon.
No advantage between the consoles. Game will naturally play better on the PS4 Pro on Xbox One X

What was the trailer footage captured on? A base console or a premium one? Or was it through your computers?

Happy to support this product on PS4, though. Can't wait to play some college football again.

Through Josh's computer - I don't think anything was captured at 4K. The game looks amazing in 4K though.
    Example:
    Spear
Most likely. I've been trying to capture some but I don't have Adobe Premiere or another editing tool.

DaVinci Resolve (from Blackmagic Design) is a free editing/rendering tool, and is personally my favorite one. I have the $300 studio version, but you likely won't need it for anything you're attempting to edit/render (I need it for color-grading and filtering/effects purposes, plus it helps running supermassive files because the studio version runs off one's GPU, and mine can take it). You won't get watermarks or anything like that unless you start actually changing the look of the thing. I highly recommend it.
The only thing it can't do (and I don't think Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas can do this either, though Wondershare Filmora can) is read MKV files. So if your file type is MKV, you'll likely have to re-encode it to MP4 or something else to get it to recognize it.

Thanks I’ll give it a try. Do you know the output resolution?

Only thing I don't like about this game is that I understand there is no commentary, is this correct? I fear without the game environment may seem dead. Any plans on adding some play by play commentary or is it something that can be added in a patch? Not going to stop me from purchasing but really wish it had it.
    Spear

You can output up to 2160p @ 60 FPS.
One thing though is once you add a source to the timeline, you'll have to set your resolution and framerate at that point. You can't do it afterward if you so want to. You can either change it beforehand (and when you add a file ask not to change it), or when you add the file, request to change your settings to match that of your file.
Looks OK... Good to have options but they need to clean up some animations. Juke looks stiff and I see some catch animations that seem like they are going to override defensive logic. Tackles look good... I'm hoping the are showing this for hype purposes knowing they have some cleanup work to do... I don't want a good attempt, I want a good game. I'm not wowed but am looking forward to seeing what the final product will be.

not sure what he suggested, but OBS and streamlabs OBS could do the trick.
also, i have another question. what determines the initial rankings for each team? is based on the teams overall average rating?
    Spear

Oh no, DaVinci Resolve is not for capturing video, it’s for editing. Someone suggested OBS, but I max out bitrate and rendering on that and the quality is still subpar. I have an elgato HD60 for my PS4, but I can’t use that for my PC. I tried another one on my PC (forget what it’s called) whose quality was better than that of OBS. I’ll check it out and tell you what it is, but OBS is overall such a better program... if only it wasn’t for the output quality.
EDIT: It’s called Bandicam. The free version has a watermark on top and 10 minute max recordings. I think the paid version is only $40, which I’ll likely buy. Much cheaper than an elgato 4K capture card.

I can capture with OBS and then do the editing in the other software. I have some other stuff that I need to work on with the game before I get to capturing footage.
Would you rather me spend the next 3 days trying to capture footage? or try to add in more plays or help Ridin on rosters.

I’ll likely defer to others, but game excellence should probably take precedence here. I say focus on the latter.

i'd rather you polish the gameplay.
don't take that as a jab. it's not intended to be. i'm pretty excited for this game. i feel the gameplay is what will make or break the success of this game. and based on the trailer, it's going to be good.
i'm just not too sure about the WR/DB interactions and how smooth it will be based on the trailer. it looked like for every pass play, the WR had to stop to catch the ball instead of catch it in stride.
from a defending standpoint, it appears the only animation for him is to stop as well (just like the WR) and jump with 2 hands in the air. i hope that's not the case.
i would suggest a 5 minute "dev diary" that kinda goes into the new animations/interactions, but that would dig into the "capture footage" option.

Gameplay is always being worked on. I just used the above as an example because that’s within my scope of work, gameplay is not.
I won’t give an example next time. Lol
Josh will work on clips of receivers catching in stride.

i think i found a bug int he gameplay trailer. look DT or LB to the left of the running back. the OL whiffs on the block leaving the DT or LB open for the tackle for loss. however, he just stops. the OL # is 54 i think. the clip from the trailer is at the 1:12/1:13 mark.

also, i mentioned it on the Patreon page, but the button emblems shouldn't be shown on running plays. i was told that it's only shown on draw plays, which is fine, but that don't look like a draw play. at least not to me.
It looks great, I can't imagine what it's like only having 2 developers, that blows my mind.
I'll buy this just to support your effort. If I have fun, that's a bonus.
I actually skipped Madden this year so I'll redirect my money.

Old build so stuff like that happens with that frozen player.
I looked into it further, the receiver icons are there on a run play until the RB passes the line of scrimmage. It's the first time I noticed it until you pointed it out ot me on the Patreon.
What is the difficulty of recruiting? Are bad programs able to secure forgotten 4-5 star recruits ala NCAA or will said bad program need to win on the field to get the star players?
Overall, interested in hearing more of the inner workings of recruiting. Thanks

It'll be harder for bad programs to get 4-5 star guys. It's not impossible, but difficult. As for the forgotten guys, I'm sure you can pick them up with some effort.

Roger that! Really liking the UI from screens posted. Im in favor of more of a challenge in regards to recruiting as it adds to level of immersion.

If you have a poor school and the recruit isn't interested they won't even field a call from you. They hang up before you can pitch. So if you are ranked #100 and are pitching for a top recruit it just isn't going to pan out for you.
There may be instances where a top recruit is really interested in location and your school is in his home state which may impact it though. But within reason. So don't expect a top 25 player for your bottom of the barrel team.

Great timing. I actually recorded a clip for this exact thing and we posted on Patreon. I defer to Spear when we release it here though.
I am recording quick gameplay, single play, examples that show some of the concern people have isn't a big deal. In the clip, the CPU QB picks up a blitz and throws to an open WR in stride for a first down with a quick release of about 1-2 seconds.
I have another with DBs playing defense and stepping in front of a WR route for an interception (and also me as a player controlled guy jumping way too early trying to get the interception...).
