  1. The PS4 content update is now available - you can check for the current update by selecting the game on the Playstation dashboard, pressing options and checking for update.
First impressions of gameplay is I'm surprised how good it feels on the sticks. The player weight reminds me of PS2 era EA football somewhat, and things feel a lot more fluid when you're actual playing the game than the footage we've seen. Game plays much better than I imagined it would.
I'm really liking the playbooks as well.
Pretty damn impressed what's been accomplished here with such limited resources. Very happy to support this title, and can't wait to dive in more.

about to purchase, but does the game keep stats in dynasty mode?

I've read elsewhere that it does for each season in the 50 year dynasty. However, I do not know if it does during gameplay.

The playbooks are not something I would call a positive personally. For one, they are a bit hard to read from the play call screen. Defensively, some players in the secondary are not given an assignment. Also, the plays really don’t reflect any sort of realism it doesn’t appear. Especially on defense. Offense does have some concept such as Mesh and Dagger, but also have only 10 combined run plays within all of the Gun formations.

Can you expand on this? Do you mean they aren't realistic in that they aren't really plays teams would run in real life?

Try deleting your old data from the Playstation dashboard and then reloading the game with the 1.01 content update.

Let me start off by saying some players on defense do not have an assignment labeled for them when you look at the play art. So I’m not sure what their responsibility is on plays when that occurs. They may have responsibilities that would accurately reflect a realistic defensive scheme.
However, you don’t appear to have your typical Cover 1/2/3/4 type defenses. Very few plays have a label of Cover 1 or anything like that. It’s hard to tell what the purpose of the defensive play is when numerous players have no play art assigned to them.

A couple of worrisome issues that I’m seeing for anyone hoping to recreate a present day college experience.
    1. You cannot edit the Stadium Facilities etc. that allow for your recruiting pitches. There is not even an option to regenerate the ratings in a random way. They appear to be stuck the way they are now. (NOTE: THEY DO RERANDOMIZE WHEN STARTING NEW DYNASTY’S. LOOKING MORE INTO THIS) Which means although you can edit the player ratings and such, your Alabama’s and Clemson’s will not be snagging the top recruits unless they happen to have top tier facilities and such.
A workaround I had assumed to use was to just find the teams that DID have the best of those pitches and make them the powerhouses, but due to the inability to edit conferences, that would throw the conferences out of whack.
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this as it seems like a deep dynasty with present day NCAA rosters is impossible.
    2. It appears you can only use college teams in Dynasty, you cannot use them in Play Now. Unless I’m doing something wrong.
Not to drop in and be a Debbie Downer but those were two things that stood out to me immediately.

The one bad thing has been it’s crashed a few times on me.
With that said, it’s been fun trying something new. I’m a big fan of the customization. Maybe I just take it on a Dynasty custom run. I appreciate the team tempering expectations. It’s better than last year. It’s definitely not as polished as Madden, but they told us it wasn’t. The key here is there’s some fun to be had.
I’m not sure how much play it will get, but honestly Spear, team you guys deserve my $30 on how you’ve conducted business. Keep up the good work and can’t wait to see where 20 goes. Solid foundation!
Quick thoughts after one half with 5 minute quarters and US pro rules.
-Character models look much better than last year.
-The bands sound good, but they need to continue playing after the plays have been chosen instead of cutting off. In college football stadiums, the bands are playing almost all the time outside of during plays.
-The crowd sounds great during the pre-snap when the away team has possession. The crowd needs to be at that level at the minimum at all times. Then they should get louder like you have already instituted when a big play happens. But when the home team's offense is on the field, it's almost silent and that kills some of the excitement and college atmosphere you're going for. The college football atmosphere is all about loudness, rowdiness, and excitement. That needs to be happening all the time in the game.
-A stiff arm mechanic would be VERY useful. As of now, the ball carrier only has spin and juke moves available. Both of those animations take a long time and are mostly ineffective. Stiff arms are used all the time in real life and would really help with the running game. Especially with how defenses tend to hit the running back almost immediately after he gets the ball in this game, a quick stiff arm animation would do wonders to break a tackle in the backfield instead of relying on a juke or spin that takes too long to perform. In my one half of play, both teams combined for 8 carries with -9 yards total. This was an issue in '18 as well.
-I punted to the CPU and it bounced past the return man and into the endzone. The CPU player dove onto the ball in the endzone and it was ruled a safety. That should be a touchback instead.
With all of that being said, I can't wait to play more later today.

Ridiculous. It’s an impression thread. He’s doing just that. Also letting the Devs know is a great thing. He’s not trashing it. Just pointing out some legitimate concerns. It was very constructive. Wish is all you can ask for.
I think the non-linemen player models would benefit from having their lower bodies and midsections reproportioned down the road. I think the butts might be too wide, large, and long relative to the rest of the body?
Currently am a little disappointed. LOVE the level of detail in recruiting and don’t mind the gameplay. However, in trying to customize college teams the game crashes every couple minutes and I lose all work I’ve done since previous save. I understand it’s a team of 3 and I will still continue to play the game... just this process of trying to get all the teams edited is frustrating as can be currently.

Wait..we cant use College Teams in play now nor can we edit schedule in dynasty??
How would I play a quick game with say USC vs LSU?? not possible?
These posts need to be truthful and direct. Some people will have different opinions. Some people may think something is a big issue and other will think that same issue is a small issue. Both opinions are valid and should be expressed to the Dev. The Devs of this game have been open and very responsive. This is an Indie game and they need as much opinions and issue posts so they can make the game better. These posts are not directed and should not be directed at people. They are just comments about each individuals impressions, which are opinions.

We are trying to replicate some of the crashes in the customize. It appears to be happening on base PS4 units more than PS4 Pro's.

Many people are going to want to get this game with the idea of recreating real life college football, as I did myself. I think pointing out a couple of potential problems that could arise when attempting to achieve that goal, and seeking for possible solutions, is fair.
If I wanted to “pick this game apart” I would go make a bunch of unfair comparisons to games not made by just a hard working three man crew.

There are no custom schedules this year and all the College teams are held within Dynasty Mode. You can edit the 16 US Pro universe as your Play Now teams if you want. So you could theoretically create your 16 favorite schools there.
Lots of info in the FAQ thread that we posted a while back as these things were noted in there too.

I’m playing on a base ps4 so that makes sense
I'm disappointed in some of you guys. How dare you not take the day off to play this game. What's with all this I'll play it tonight when I get off work and out of school? If this were NCAA, half the room would be sick and the other half on vacation lol. The rest would have broken up with they girls for at least a week! Uppidy dudes in here man lol...
Played a couple of games, firstly congratulations guys, glad I made the purchase! I really hope to see this game grow in the next couple of years!
I have been enjoying myself but there are definitely things that I feel are things that can be worked on, my main complaint is passing.
note: these are just my opinions lol
    #1 Passing-

    • Takes too long to for ball to reach receiver even when bullet passing, sometimes passes look and feel really good other times the qb just lofts the ball straight up into the air to a receiver 2 yards in front of him
    • Passing on the run is near impossible
    • The QB pass animation is too slow, if you are being rushed and try to pass nothing happens you just get sacked every single time (I am talking a defender a couple yards away will reach you before you even start the pass animation)
    • sometimes receiver turns to catch the ball way to early and just lets it go over his head with no effort

    #2 Menu-
Can be slow and clunky, just trying to move over to sort by position in the roster screen takes a couple seconds just moving the selection over.
I also do not like how if you edit a player it does not reorder the depth chart, if I make a backup QB 99 overall or something I will still have to set him as the starter.
The global depth chart menu is very slow and clunky as well,
I could not imagine trying to make more then a couple player changes to a teams roster, it would take a long time
#3 I really wish you could edit college teams and use them in play now, its kinda disappointing that you can't
#4 I do wish there was at least another control scheme, at first I was really lost and after a cpl games am definitely more used to it but I feel it definitely is a learning curve..
I also noticed the skip scene button in game is square (on ps4) again this can go with control scheme but every other game I ever played has it at x and I am so used to spamming x after every play its weird having to consciously remember that it is square
#5 is there a way to turn off auto save in dynasty mode? the auto saving every time I go back to the dynasty menu really slows the experience down, I cant just look at stats and then look at my schedule without a 10-15 second save pop up
Those are my initial thoughts, I might have missed some things but I am sure to keep you guys updated with all my thoughts, I really want this game to improve so you can take my money every year
Again this is just the issues I found, there is definitely a lot good and a lot of potential here, but if we aren't honest with the issues they will never be addressed.
    Murph
I literally can not find this in the Xbox store. What am I doing wrong?

You have to actually search for it. For some reason it doesnt appear under New Games yet.
Well after so many continuous years of playing EA’s football games I just can’t seem to play this one. First I can’t figure out the kicking mechanics, I only seem to be able to kick the ball 25 yards. Also any pass play I attempt that is not in the shotgun formation I get sacked in a second, don’t even have time to press a button. The running game however I’m having great success with. On defense I have no clue so I just let the CPU handle it. I guess it’s going to take time to get the feel of the game down. I think when I get to the point when I can move the ball down field I’ll be having some fun. Right now I’m just a bit frustrated , again no fault of the game, I blame EA. lol.
Here's a very limited impression from just one offensive series and the first load up.
    1. I agree it is disappointing to not be able to play as the college teams in play now. I think that should be changed in the future as a lot of folks are buying the game only for college teams and being able to play against friends might be a big deal. (not so much to me, but that's my opinion.)
    2. It is going to take me some time to get use to the control scheme. I'm so use to Madden that some parts feel normal but other button placement will take time to get use to on the game. Not a knock, more of a personal learning curve.
    3. Like the passing. I didn't mix in a run in my short time with the game.
    4. I didn't figure out kicking but once I have more time with the game I'm sure I will.
My time was very brief as I was on my lunch break and that's all I had time for. Looking forward to jumping in and further trying this game out. I'll post more impressions later.

    Few tips:
1.) Kicking: Use the right stick to aim a bit higher and use the left stick as ONE FLUID MOTION (DO NOT HOLD BACK THE STICK).
2.) Try bumping the difficulty down to Easy for the passing and do your best to read the defense on when a blitz is coming.
3.) On defense press "B" or "circle" to switch to the defender closest to the ball. This can help when the ball is in the air or taking over on a run to tackle.
It would be neat if we could remap our own controls for the game. I don’t know if something like that is possible or can be given via patch? Either way I’m happy with the purchase. Fantastic game made by only 3 people, wow!

Ok first thing you need to do is forget NCAA 14 and come in with an open mind.
Graphics for some may not be Current Gen Level but I like them. They remind of a Old Gen games which work great for me.
This game is vastly improved this.year. From the massive leap into College Dynnasty mode to the Major upgrade in CPU AI.
There are some bugs but the Dev team is already addressing them.
Ok so I went into practice mode and spent a lot of time with the passing game. I’ve got the hang of it so I started my dynasty using the Madison Bulldogs. I lead 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. 7:00 quarters
    Me
    Passing 5/8/131
    Rushing 5/30
    CPU
    Passing 1/3/3
    Rushing 7/47
This game is decent once you get the hang of it.
    pitsch911
Is the CPU doing good? Or are they making mistakes? Seems like they are not doing a ton

The team I’m playing the QB has overthrown wide open guys twice. Oth would have been TD’s. Their running game is solid though.

Spear, there are some plays when the rush gets to the QB before a pass can even be attempted due to the slight input delay in triggering the QB’s throw. This sometimes even happens when a guard is in position to make a block. The end just instantly loops around and hits the QB even if you immediately press pass when you receive the ball.
Also, I edited a dynasty team to have a team full of 99 OVR players. The rest of the league has players only has high as 80 OVR. I have yet to win a simulated game. Not one. I’ve done this in multiple dynasty files as well.
Obviously, you are going to have upsets. But it seems very skewed for a team so highly rated to lose so many consecutive games. Seems problematic for those aiming at team building and simming.

This game is about being able to edit, and sadly the editing is like pulling your nails out. Hopefully a copy/paste color will make its way in, otherwise anyone who makes all 130 is going to spend about 80 hours doing it.
As for the gameplay I figured it would be rough, but not this rough. Something feels really off, like either the player movements are not running at the same speed, or the camera, but something is not connecting with my brain. Add to that what feels like controller delay and I don't feel like I have control.
Hopefully my 30 bucks goes to making big jumps for next year because I doubt i get my money's worth out of it.

You can edit all players for the College teams under the Dynasty Edit screen which is Y/Triangle from the Dynasty Hub.

I didn’t notice there was a sim quarter length option to change. So it would be at default I assume.
All on field gameplay came from default teams used in play now. We took literally 15-20 sacks in a game on stream where we were trying to get the ball out almost immediately after the snap. Defenders would just run past defensive ends untouched. The CPU bringing extra rushers left us completely helpless as we could not keep guys in to block or even snap and throw due to input delay.
This didn’t happen near as often with CFL gameplay.

Let me start by saying I have only had a limited amount of time to play today and know there will be a learning curve in controls, so for now I'm not going to comment on the game play until I've got that down.
But, I agree with the quoted post. The playbook is definitely hard to read. (Maybe making it bigger on screen and showing more detail?) I haven't fully explored the offensive playbook yet but the defensive playbook concerns are there. But I believe I saw the team looking for people that have experience with playbooks to help give their input, so I'm encouraged by that.
It's definitely not perfect, but there is huge potential for this game going forward.
Just messing with dynasty mode. While cool, please add in the option to turn off autosave. It appears to be doing that when you are simulating or even recruiting. While it's nice, autosave appears to slow the game down a bit. If we could turn off autosave and have a way to manually save I think that might be a good feature.
Also, I was playing, first run play was a toss, the QB missed the hb, resulting in a fumble and the other team got a safety. 1st play. Maybe something to check on.
Also, I exited the game this happened in to see if I could restart, but due to autosave I'm stuck with being down by 2 due to the fumble.
However, thank you guys for making the game. I know you all have a small team. Glad someone is trying to make these games again.
Sweet. Also, maybe something for next year, but my QB seems to get a deer in the headlights look when blitzed and doesn't want to throw ball if told. Starting to get the hang of it and have the lead in the game I mentioned earlier.
Just leaving a little more feedback. The game in my opinion is a little rough around the edges if you compare it to Madden or NCAA. Which those just aren't really fair comparisons.
However, after playing an hour or 2, there's definitely a lot of good potential. Especially if this game gets support and they are able to bring on more resources.
My biggest things to ask for are these for next year.
    1. Gameplay to be tweaked a bit. Pace of the game is almost slow at times. Bigger thing are things like, for example, was playing, CPU did a halfback screen in the back field. Caught the ball. My db came up and made the hit. Then I was called for passing interference.
    2. Atmosphere. The croud noise, the band. Keep those things going. Also, similar to how you do in spring league where you hear players talking, if you wanted to integrate that into normal games, that might not be bad. But the band playing and crowd cheering like they are rocking the stadium are your big things.
    3. Mentioned above, but the autosave system, please give a way to disable that.
Overall just a few quirks. But ultimately for a team of 3-4 people, excellent work! Thank you guys again for creating this game. I do have NCAA 13, so who knows which I'll end up playing more. But it will be fun to pull out this game. Already looking forward to the 2020 and 2021 versions to see how much they improve as I imagine you all are getting good sales on this one will definitely be buying next year to support if it is the improvement this one was shown to be from last year.
    1. Dynasty simulating. If there is a way to speed this up, please. lol
    2. Dynasty sorting. Could be here, just do not know how, Also if there is a way to have the interest semi known. I know there are 3 teams that it is suppose to show that has the highest interest, but it feels like they are all the same teams.
    3. Game play is ok. I know it will get better, read most of the comments and I agree there is work to be done, but it was still enjoyable. Played a full game. I found streaks are very strong. A lot of times the players just run past the DB and S and catch and easy pass. Stiff arm is needed. Running is weaker, and there needs to be a break tackle animation.
    4. Punts. If I do not call a fair catch the kicking team just stops in front of me. Knock me out please.
    5. Dynasty Simulating. I know it is on here twice, but please. Simulating a season and it crashed halfway.
    6. Punts/kickoffs. I am running these back about 50% of the time. It will get up to 80%+ as I play more. I found if a defender is behind you, just zigzag and the defender will not try to tackle you or fall over another player.
    7. When editing a team and choosing a logo, can you make it so logos already in use are grayed out or not a choice? Made a team and now I have 2 of the same mascot.
    8. Depth chart needs an overhaul. Super confusing and time consuming. Please make it sort able by position, so I can edit a team quick.
Great game so far, I look forward to content updates.
Great game really enjoying it. Am i missing something, can seem to figure out how to take control of my reciever before the ball gets to him. Such as when the ball is off target and i can guide him to the ball. Other than that i'm getting better and having fun. Thanks
Not sure if this is the right place to put this idea but regarding customization, the ability to copy/paste a color from one place to another would make customizing uniforms a lot more user friendly. I love the RGB options that allow me to select specific colors with no wheel or anything but having that easy way rather than forcing people to reenter a code each time would make it even better IMO.
Also regarding selectors like rules, settings, fonts and stadiums the ability to scroll back and forth with the DPad rather than only one direction would be a great improvement for ease of use IMO
Love the great feedback... cant wait to play tomorrow!!
Everyone, do not compare to EA... act as if this is something BRAND NEW which it is... this already is leaps and bounds from 2018.
This team listens to our complaints... give em time. Let continue offering suggestions to make things better.

I can't figure out kicking. Is there something I'm missing? Every kickoff ends up as a squib kick, and extra points are barely making it to the crossbar.

Kicks require a fluid motion.... up and down super fast after you set up where you want the ball to go with the right stick.
My thoughts: This game has a learning curve to it.... but as I've slowly figured out what I'm doing on both sides of the ball, I'm having fun with it. It's not NCAA 14 or Madden, but what's here shows promise especially compared to last year and there's enough to do with recruiting as well as playing every game each week that I don't see myself getting bored any time soon.
Ok , I've made some early comments now that I've put some real time in here are some impressions. My first two games were play now games. Couldn't kick , got sacked practically every play and was ready to throw my controller through the wall. I shut the game off and said F -it.
Then I decided to give it another shot , I realized I had to approach this game as a new game , can't play it like I play the EA or 2K games. So I went into practice mode and spent a few hours just running different pass plays , getting the feel and timing down. Then I practiced a few punts and field goals. Once I felt comfortable I started my dynasty.
I chose the Madison Bulldogs as my team , first game was against Kentucky West. 7:00 quarters, Normal difficulty , Catch Modifier 100%.
First game was a blast I owned the first half but Kentucky made bit of a come back in the second half. I like a lot of what I saw.
1.Big hits - A few times after my player got clocked he'd get up slow shaking his head and you could tell by his reaction he got his bell rung a bit.
    2. Wind - More so than other games I've played the wind really plays a part in this game. I had two extra points doink off the post and miss due to the wind. Had to go for 2 to make up for it.
    3. CPU A.I.- I have to mention this because without it the game would not be worth playing. The A.I. in this game is very good. Example - several times before the snap I moved my MLB over to the right of the line to try and get a cheap sack , the A.I. always picked up my man and blocked me. Also when no one is open the A.I. QB will run with the ball without hesitation. AND this one is big if you've played Madden 20 , The A.I. actually calls time outs at the end of each half , that's right they manage the darn clock , how about that? Another thing that impressed me is I've changed up the way i play defense in this game , in Madden I always use a D-lineman and rush the passer. In this game I've been using the MLB or a Safety. If I blow my coverage the A.I. is quite good at picking up on it and I've got burned deep a few times.
4, Penalties - saw a good mix of penalties called. Holding , roughing the passer , Pass Interference. None were over done and felt realistic within the time settings for the game.
    5. Injuries - My WR and HB got hit hard on different occasions and were out for 3 plays. Nice touch.
I have to say once I got the feel and mechanics down I started seeing the good this game has to offer. I'm really enjoying it. I hope these guys stick with it and continue making this game, it's only going to get better and better.
Game one stats:Note I had two kick returns for TD's, sweet.

    A couple other things:
The game has some big hits but I didn't see any fumbles , only one game but I hope to see some going forward.
Extra points - I had an extra point hit the post and go through but it was called no good. Don't know if that's a college rule or not but in the NFL it would be good.
EDIT: forgot to mention had to stop just before halftime to eat dinner. I was able to continue my game from where I left off when I returned. So glad this feature is in the game.
I have a question , now that I've played my week one game will all the other games sim when I move on to week 2 , or do I need to actually play them all? I definitely don't mind if I do just curious if they will sim.

If you guys came in hoping this would comparable to NCAA 14, then smh...... One full time dev, guys. One.

Comparing it to NCAA 14 is what you took from my post? I’m not sure what agenda you have, if any, but please do all of us a favor in this thread: focus on your reading comprehension, post something that pertains to the topic, and if you’d like to comment (incorrectly) on the size of the team, do it in the dev forum.
Right now, in its current state, the game is not good. The player models are comparable to gen 2 consoles, calling it a college atmosphere is a stretch, the playbooks are cluttered and almost unreadable, the editing options are cumbersome, the controls cannot be mapped to user preference, and many other negatives that have previously been mentioned here.
With all of that said, I applaud the teams effort in trying to give all of us a viable option for college football in 2019. I am glad we are all supporting their effort with our purchase of the game. If, by chance, they are able to develop a sequel for 2020, I’ll purchase that one again. Just like I will year after year to give us an alternative to a modern college game until a legitimate college game can be developed.
As I close this response, pay attention to my exact words. I applaud the Dev teams effort and vision. I will continue to support. I am not selling their effort short. I am not bashing the game. I am not comparing it to another. With all of that said, I will continue to play NCAA 14 for my college football fix.

Sheesh, you would've thought that I actually insulted you with that post. No agenda, was just echoing what others in here have said about not comparing it to other games; you said you'll stick with NCAA 14 so I took that as an indirect comparison . Maybe that's more of a hit on my inferencing than reading comprehension? I'm pretty sure I'm correct in that there is only one full time dev and I can comment on that wherever this game is being talked about.
Anyway, I've derailed this thread enough; if you feel the need to reply with another post that comes off with that unnecessary tone, feel free to pm me.

Exactly how I feel. I'll keep supporting it in hopes it grows or EA sees it's missing out.
Spear, from watching videos and reading Twitter comments it seems the defenders don’t bail on deep zone coverage. The defenders seems to cover their defined zone, so WRs run right past defenders when running streaks. Ideally, take cover 2 for example, the safeties should play behind the deepest man. Anyway, that would be great to implement once the priority issues are fixed.
I’ll be purchasing when I get home vacation next weekend. Excited to follow along this week while I have time.

Loving the game so far. I can’t believe how well thought out it is with such a small team. That being said I think y’all are only one year away from having one of the best college football games ever made if you get a few more people to join your team.
    Suggestions:
Release the game in late July or early August next year when people are dying for some football, this will lead to increased sales
Make graphics the last thing on your list to improve. They are “good enough” to not be a distraction and I’m guessing most of us played TECMO bowl back in the day and loved it. Instead Continue to focus on Game play mechanics and perfecting Dynasty mode
Find a way for users to share rosters for next years game. This is a must for this game to take off into being a mainstream game with a million+ users. Editing one team is tedious enough, Editing the conference uggg, all 130 teams.... no thanks, I’d rather pay a random person some money to use their saved file.
    Also for next year:
    Editable conferences
Editable post season options (I.e. 8 or 16 team playoffs)
Tutorial vids on YouTube (basics of offense, defense, dynasty, customization, etc)
    Editable schedules
@spear Hope these ideas help, and I’m curious to hear your Thought on if Any of these are already in development Or which ones will never happen.
So far so good! Couple of minor issues- another camera angle would be nice the default seems a little to far and a little to low. Also maybe it's my old eyes but the in game substitution screen is tough to see from the couch. Keep up the good work.
    Things I think need attention.
Commentary is missing, some people don't mind that but it bothers me. I did read somewhere it is on the wishlist for next year.
Maybe it's just me but when I pass there seems to be a second or two delay and I try to adjust my timing when passing because of that.
Not sure if it was some sort of glitch but while I was in offence after the played ended I was suddenly on defense and it was only second down. It only happened once.
I once had a player stuck in an animation. He was a running back and the defense kept trying to tackle him but he just stood there. It was quite amusing
I still can't get the hang of kicking or punting. Really the kicking is what more than anything wants me to stop playing. My punter averaged about 20 yards.
I too want to use college teams in play now
The Developer deserve a lot of credit though and I appreciate the effort. They are on the right track with this game and I can see this being a great game in a few years. I hope they continue to work on this.

    .

When kicking first raise the height a bit with the right stick , then pull the left sick back and immediately forward all in one quick motion and you will be kicking off into the end zone if the wind is at your back. I went into practice mode and got it down in there first.
My day off, so I spent the day playing.
In addition to the things I mentioned in a previous post i had these two things happen today.
The CPU connected on a long pass play to my 25 yard line or so and as I went to tackle him the next thing I saw was the receiver celebrating in the end zone.
The other thing I once noticed was when I went to tackle the CPU QB my player went right through him like he was a ghost. This also only happened once and I played 4 and a half games.
If it helps? I was playing on the Xbox one x
I don't post here much but I just want this to be said.
I do not really like this game but I am so happy I bought it. And I'll buy the next one. Any little tuihg I can do to help anyone get an NCAA game off the ground is fine by me.

Bought the game yesterday and wanted to preface this by saying I very much appreciate all the effort and ambition that went into this game. David's been a big name in indie football development ever since his first CFL game and the original Maximum-Football for PC, so to see how far Canuck Play's come since the old WinterValley days is awesome. Congrats on a successful release day.
As I've always said, I'm doing everything I can to approach DFMF2019 with an open mind and as the first step toward bigger things. With that being said, here are my impressions/criticisms after a few games on day one (some of these may eventually be posted/copied into the bugs thread):
    1. It took me a little while to get the hang of the nuances of the controls, but once I played a few games, everything seemed like it was second nature. It's one of the first games in a while where I had to study the help menu to look up controls. I kept thinking to myself "they didn't include (xyz)" only to find that I simply had to look in the menu.
    2. Gameplay, for the most part, is solid. There are details that should be fixed, such as animation transitions, ball physics and ball/player warping, but I expect those to be patched or fixed next year.
    3. On a positive note, some of the animations are great, especially tackling. It seems there's an element of momentum to some hits, as I've run into ballcarriers' legs only for them to naturally stumble at the point of impact. It's a pretty cool hint that there's so much potential here.
    4. Players are often out of position or still on the ground when skipping a cutscene for the next play. I sacked the QB only for him to remain on the ground for a second, stand up and walk to the line of scrimmage, costing the AI around 5-7 seconds off their play clock.
    5. Late game AI logic isn't where it should be yet. In my New York West ( :) ) dynasty, I was up 10 points in the 4th with around 2 minutes to go, and the Philadelphia AI had already used all its timeouts. They continued running the ball and didn't attempt a single pass the rest of the game. I ended up having enough time to score one more touchdown and put the game away. Thankfully, teams trailing in the fourth will go for it on 4th Down, so it isn't all illogical.
    6. Speaking of Dynasty, the ranking system isn't perfect. My New York West team was ranked somewhere in the 100s, but in my first game, I upset #3 Athens by 10 points after scoring 4 passing touchdowns and knocking their starting QB out for 6 weeks. After simulating the rest of the week, I found my team was suddenly #1 in the nation. While that's very flattering, I think there still should be some doubt with smaller conference/lower ranked teams after upsets.
    7. This was probably brought up, but I don't have any tight ends on my team and there aren't any I can recruit. I know SE's are pretty much the same thing, but it's still kind of a headscratcher and I'm hoping it doesn't break recruiting in future seasons.
    8. Recruiting is awesome. I love the concept behind it, as well as the one-line personality profiles. It's just (1) some profiles and menu options have typos, (2) I don't know if this will eventually tie into ratings or what kind of players they'll become and (3) the interest meters don't seem to change for me --- all recruits seem to be very high on schools like Tuscaloosa when I've already pushed some of their interest into "Elite" stages. But it's an EXCELLENT start, and it has the potential to truly be great.
    9. That being said, it seems no matter the location of my recruits, the "Close To Home" field always remains "Good". I'm in the process of recruiting players from California and Wyoming that seem to love how close and convenient Buffalo, NY is to their hometown. Maybe they have relatives there??? (On a more serious note, I'm sure this will be corrected soon)
    10. I'd like to echo some of the responses in this thread about kicking --- I'm just not sure how kicks or punts work. Is it dependent on timing, player ratings or aim? I've tried to compensate by kicking away from returners and relying on bounces to pin a team deeper, but I almost feel like that's cheating.
    11. Teams seem to have different playing styles. For example, Augusta always kicked the PAT, while Philadelphia always went for two.
    12. I really like the added touch of fireworks after touchdowns, but I almost feel like the particles would be better off just flying into the air instead of zooming into the screen like they do. That's a pretty small complaint in the scheme of things, though. Just having them there makes things better when you're playing at home.
    13. I'm also not a huge fan of the clapping crowd animations. I know it's better than having a static crowd without any movement like in the Axis series, but I try not to look at them for very long, and it seems to look much better from far away. Again, another personal gripe that I'm sure will be worked on in future editions.
    14. It's only happened once so far, but the "First Down/Sack/Touchdown" graphic that fills the entire score bug glitched and didn't work for the rest of my game against Philadelphia (it would instead display this garbled static look that obscured the entire score bug until something else like the drive summary went on screen).
    15. I've run into an issue where triggering the instant replay feature too soon after a play makes a player on the ground "melt" or warp. I backed away as soon as it happened and the player model in question was immediately back to normal.
I can't remember much else right now, but if anything comes to mind, I'll be sure to add another reply. In spite of some of its faults, I really admire what's in this game. It's full of potential and great ideas.
With enough post-release care and improvement, I'm sure it'll be up there among some of the better indie sports franchises like Big Ant's Rugby, Cricket and Lacrosse games, Super Mega Baseball, and (hopefully) the OOTP franchise. I've never been a huge Patreon contributor but I'll be signing up very soon --- this is a series well worth supporting.

Not a fan of the depth chart. I guess I just have to get used to it.

Try using the formation depth chart and changing away from the global depth chart. The formation depth chart has a different UI.

    A couple suggestions:
    1. I’d like to see the hand off between the QB and RB be smoother. Often times they bump into each other.
    2. I would make the visuals so when at the line of scrimmage before the snap the icons above the players are not shown unless you view the play art.
    3. The weather is a nice touch but with the limited graphics I would even bother with it. Put the resources elsewhere.
    4. The player with the ball should not just fall down when he is bumped into, it should take a tackle to bring him down.
Really having a good time with the game so far. Also great job with the different teams and how each plays. I can tell when I’m going against a top team or a not so good team.
Couple things after a couple games of dynasty.
2 fun. Competitive games. Both wins.
The hesitation during handoffs bothers me a bit. I feel like it was a smoother exchange it would help run. I get lit up in the backfield a lot cuz the slight hesitation throws me off
Passing feels.....loose? Sometimes recievers tend to do random things. Maybe they are getting bumped off their routes and not recovering. But I feel like I'm anticipating one route and the ball sails elsewhere.
Dbs getting beat deep. So far the only way I've scored is from deep balls (my offense has been anemic haha)
The second game I played I fumbled every pitch. But it didnt happen in the first.
Didnt know how to pitch during option. (Only ran it once tho)
I love the running, just the feeling of controlling the ball carriers feels nice. I wish jukes were a little quicker/smoother ( maybe they are with smaller backs? My rb is a heavy boy)
I do like the blocking AI. Seems like my players know who to block.
Defense AI to rally to the ball is nice. DBs make great plays on the ball (when their not getting beat deep)
Is there a reason WRs routes are different colors on the play art?
Dont wanna make it sound like I'm hammering the game. I understand it's a small group of dev's. I'm enjoying the game so far.

Mixed bag for me so far. I've got to stop comparing it to NCAA14 or Madden and approach it with an open bag. The kicking was mindboggling until figuring it out on here. I love the recruiting and the little quips about each player. The uniform colors are great but the player sizes leave a lot to be desired (yes I know it's a 3 man team)- even Doug Flutie looks like Sean Astin. The player numbers are off with skill position players- I know I can change- but I'm lazy.
The clock seems to drag even with playing at 5 quarters. I need to play more but I do like the passing game. Running game is tough which is a good thing. I've had some weird things happen to me on special teams resulting in turnovers, safeties, etc. I need to give this more time. I will buy this again next year to keep supporting their efforts.

Well college doesn't have the same number restrictions as the pros if you ever watched college football... Plenty of skill position players and even defensive players wear numbers in the single digits 🤔
OL could be better picking up the blitz. There’s times where they blitz and it’s not picked up resulting in instant sacks. Even now I have adjusted and I know it’s coming I hit the button to pass and QB won’t throw it still getting sacked.

True...been a college football fan for 40 years now and I'm just not used to QB's having high jersey numbers in the 20's and 30's. Like I said, I can always edit if it's bothering me that much.

First off, really impressive for being a small team but if anyone is expecting a Madden killer or even an honest excuse to retire NCAA 14 you'll be disappointed. This being a small dev team I won't be attacking things like graphics as I think they did very well considering this is a three man team. This is just a quick brief breakdown after a bit with the game.
    The good:
Dynasty mode is cool and could add for some fun sims. The fictional teams are cool and I do like I can edit ones I don't like.
Customization is cool. While I think more could be added in the future I do like the fact they understood this we very important for a game like this.
    The bad:
The plays feel a little less fleshed out. A good portion of them have more of a Canadian feel to them. It would also be better if a college game had some team specific playbooks like a the wishbone, etc. (maybe too much to ask for in year one)
It appears pitch plays have a random bad pitch fumble. I don't know if this is a gitch but I saw it happen twice in one game. (once for and once against me.) I'd be ok with this if it was an option but since it is just a called pitch it is frustrating.
Defensive backs just let the ball hit them in the chest and don't intercept. I don't know if this is better if I had control of them but this needs to be addressed.
Controls can't be edited to a more "modern setup." For those that have been playing EA football titles for a while this makes for a tough learning curve. This could have been helped just by giving us an edit to where we could put it more like a Madden control.
The player names don't seem like real names. I don't know if they were too worried about auto generating a real player but some of the names are just dumb and not reflective of the real world.
It doesn't appear that once you start a dynasty mode to change the settings. I played a game and due to what I hope is a bug (I'll have more on it in the Ugly.) the game took too long. But now it appears I can't edit the game length. I'd put this in the ugly but for now I am not sure if that's correct or if I just haven't figured it out.
The lack of game sounds hurts the game. I'll give them credit for a great sound when the road team has the ball, but the game is missing bands playing regularly. It also misses commentary. I know that wasn't in the cards this year but if they'd had a little more it might would add to the atmosphere.
    The Ugly:
Depth charts are terrible. I don't know who designed them but they clearly haven't looked at a current sports game. We can't just see QBs on their own and flop around. I can't see why they did it this way but it is terrible. DBs are just DBs and their isn't a SS or FS. WR don't list TEs, etc. This is terrible and not a good way to do it since those positions are in the game. It would be nice to actually put the DBs are CB, SS and FS.
The kicking is terrible. Kicking is too difficult and appears to be that way just to be that way. It really doesn't matter if you have a 99 rating kicker. They made this one really unnecessarily hard.
The clock stops after a first down and NEVER starts again until you snap the ball. I'm hoping this is bug but it hurts the game. If it isn't a bug and a misunderstanding of the college rules this is really, really bad. Know the rules. UPDATE: Devs say it isn't a bug. Sounds like they made it this way due to not having a chains move. Not a fan as it makes the games too long.
The saving after exiting every menu even if you changed nothing is bad. I don't get why you'd save it if I've not changed a single thing. 10 seconds delay after every menu check is ridiculous.
Equally bad, although I can forgive a bit more, is the long time it takes to sim a week. Really it takes a long time and could kill some of those looking to just do sim dynasties. I put this in the ugly but as this is a 3 man indy team I can forgive it a lot more.
But the worst decision by far is not including the College teams in play now. I've seen the devs say each team is tied to Dynasty mode and roster are auto generated with each dynasty but for a game marketed as a college title this is a shame. People want to play against their friends. And doing it inside of Dynasty doesn't allow them to have the match ups against their friends they might want. This was an oversight for sure and one that if it can't be patched needs to be corrected next year.
All in all I still recommend this game. I really like the work they are putting in to fix things and if we want a college football game in the future and this title to improve as well we need to support this studio. $30 isn't a bad price for the game. I think there is a lot to love as long as you temper your expectations going in. This isn't the great Madden killer nor is it trying to be yet.
I've only played a few games and haven't touched Dynasty yet, but I'll give some early feedback.
Playing on Easy to get a hang of things and offense, aside from odd interactions on handoffs, feels pretty good. I appreciate the idea that there are pass plays where you just have to get the ball to your first option as quickly as possible. As for running the ball, I have no clue how to pitch the ball on option plays (I think I've tried every button in practice) and there's a toss play where the QB just runs into the back and falls over every time but other than that I feel in full control on offense. If something goes wrong, it's because I made the wrong choice or just got beat.
Defense, though, even on easy, just feels bad to me. Everything just feels choppy and off on pass plays, run plays seem to be all or nothing, and block shedding feels like I'm doing nothing. It just feels like, compared to playing on offense, I have very few options on defense besides running at the ball and hoping for the best. Sometimes on kick coverage players don't want to dive, I really don't like that the interception attempt button is basically a rocket catch that stops your momentum, and the play art and small playbook feel very limiting. Compared to the other side of the ball, I feel like I have very little control of what's happening on defense. I'm just hoping for a missed pass or a AI defender to come screaming in for a sack. A few more defensive moves and smoother performance would go a long way, but it's not gamebreaking in the current state, just aggravating.
There have been a few odd interactions. I've seen three roughing the passer penalties that seem like the QB was just being hit as he threw (two were on the CPU, one was on me), one extremely odd bug I didn't think to record where the CPU lined up for an opening kickoff on the sidelines, booted the ball and got called for a penalty, and one I did record where the CPU called for a timeout after a touchback:

Overall, on the field, I see the potential and fully plan on getting on the Patreon next payday. Defense and playbooks are rough but it overall feels fine. Very interested to see how things feel 1-2 updates from now.
I haven’t had the opportunity to play that much but I’m probably not going to commit to a dynasty until a few things get patched.
There’s a lot to love about the game though.
I think next year...especially with the funding after this year will make a huge difference.
Gameplay and feature improvements will come in time but one thing I’d like to see that I think will improve overall playability are softer, larger fonts in the menus like roster etc. and a more intuitive system. Improved visibility would make the quirkiness less confusing.
For a game like this, i’d never expect the visuals of an EA or 2k but the off the field stuff should be seamless.
There’s a reason people still play Front Page Sports (prior to them getting the nfl licenses) The coach mode, menu design, play designer, customization, are still better than almost anything on the market the past 20 years.
But it was $30 well spent.

    .

The kicking is actually very good once you understand it. At first I could only kick the ball 25 yards , now I'm kicking off into the endzone. First off use the right stick to raise the height of the kick , then pull the left stick back and move it forward in one continuous motion and do it fast. one extra point I don't need to raise the height but on longer kicks (field goals) I do. Go into practice mode do try some punts and fields goals to get the hang of it.
I find the kicking game in this game to be very accurate once you get the hang of it. They made the kicking game matter.
Spent the weekend setting up my US college dynasty by editing team names, and other minor items to match real life teams. Was not to painful and really no complaints related to the game. I would edit 2-3 teams then back out to dynasty home screen just to be safe and avoid the crash bug. Load times are not long at all so this was a non issue. Looks really nice now with actual team names and I am very happy with the game so far. Thank you for giving us options and letting the customer customize their game!
Started week 1 after the edits above and it felt so nice to be recruiting again. I have missed recruiting since I stopped playing the other game about 7 years ago. Overall recruiting is nice so far with categories and unlocking items. Very limited time spent and option available since only week 1 but it is nice to feel like I am building a team again!
Thank you team for all your hard work and bringing the game back to the fans!

This is exactly what I'm doing. The work people are doing with the logo editor look really cool, but I don't have the patience or skill for that. Just editing team names and using best applicable preloaded logos for the team/helmets. It's close enough and fun to be playing console college football again.
I discovered last night that after you edit the teams in an existing dynasty and then start a new dynasty save file the changes carry over to the new dynasty file. This is huge..thank you
Worth mentioning, haven't played Madden since I downloaded DFMF19.
This an amazing start with limited money and small developer team. Can't wait to see the improvements through game updates. I'm already getting excited about DFMF20 as I hope Canuck makes the needed cash through DFMF19 to hire a team and really tighten up the game. Yes, College Football is back!
I'm having fun with the logo editor, not so much with the game. Running game seems like an afterthought. What is college football without the option? The plays are hard to read. I think I saw the I-formation under formations, but it had no plays. TEs???. To be honest, I'm rather disappointed. I was hoping maybe PS2 NCAA gameplay and animations, but it's not even close. Feels like a cheap mobile phone game (I know...3 guys). I'm glad I gave them my money and they deserve it for the effort. Add more plays, option running game, make the playbook more readable, be able to assign playbooks and formations to teams so they can feel different,
I will continue to do team editing in hopes that the game comes to life in the future. Right now I have the AAC done, UAB, Wisconsin and will work on the rest of the Big 10.
Have only played a few minutes of this game so far. Was pleased to select the "Philadelphia Firebirds" then hear "E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles" chants faintly in the crowd during a game...
I've played three franchise games so far. I'm going to dump some quick impressions and issues here, as it seems the development team checks these boards. I'm playing on Xbox One.
First, here are a few game breaking issues:
    - I found a glitch where I couldn't snap post timeout. I called a timeout to kick a field goal, only to realize it would have been a 50+ yard attempt. I called another timeout to switch to a pass play, where the inability to snap occured.
    - the play called AS strong sweep is broken. It appears to be a handoff, but the play is actually a quarterback sneak that results in an unstoppable 5-10 yard gain on average. One time I called this play and my QB became uncontrollable and scrambled for 40 yards before finally running out of bounds at the 5 yard line
    - sometimes after pausing the game while on defense my DBs will uncontrollably walk across the line of scrimmage pre snap. This seems to occur randomly
    - there is one play that's an HB strong side toss that twice in a row resulted in the QB hurling the ball 30 feet behind him
    - once my defensive play was automatically picked on first down after a field goal
Some quality of life improvements I'd like to see:
    - I can't figure out how to use hot routes. If you can patch in hot routes, it would really open up the passing game
    - it's unclear what pre snap offensive motion does. Sometimes it seems to randomly shift WRs, sometimes it seems to do nothing. It would be nice to have more control, or at least clarity on what's happening
    - I'd love to see work on the option play. Laterals seem to be non-existent. A lateral button, a few more option plays and functional hot routes alone would make offense 100x more fun and organic
    - improved collision detection. Players clip through one another far too often
Also, here are brief wish list of things I'd like to see in 2020 but I understand probably can't be implemented into the current game:
    - play action passes don't seem to be in the game
    - more diversity in the defensive playbooks, and the ability to flip defensive plays
    - offensive line adjustments, and defensive back adjustments. Even a simple option to press or back off the defensive backs would be amazing
    - no huddle offense
    - it'd be awesome if kicking were a bit clearer. I really like the kicking system fundamentally speaking, but it's hard to tell where I'm aiming the ball
    - RPG style player improvements in dynasty mode. The dynasty mode is great, but I feel the one thing that's missing is player development
With all of this said, I'm enjoying the game quite a bit and look forward to the first patch. I believe that with continued support, Maximum Football can definitely become something special!
I’ve been playing play now games on hard, various catch modifiers— trying to see if the gameplay is worth starting a dynasty.
A lot has already been said. Zone is problem on streaks with the CBs and safetys not tracking the receiver, no play action, option plays not working, etc.
Biggest issue for me is the offensive line on run plays. Too often offensive linemen aren’t blocking anyone or the defensive line player easily runs past them. Running plays are blown up in the backfield all the time. Something is wrong with the logic there. Happens when both the user and AI run the ball on hard. Doesn’t help that the handoff animation takes an eternity. The running game on hard is bordering on broken.
I do like the passing game, however. Pass blocking is good for the most part. Occasionally the defensive ends will get to the QB at warp speed. A lot of gripes about the QB throwing motion taking a few beats to kick in— I don’t mind that. Forces you to anticipate and feels more realistic. I also don’t mind that the receiver routes are a little wonky. Not sure if it’s intentional, but in real games, receivers run loopy routes, give up on routes, run the wrong route, etc. Seeing it happen in a game is interesting, intentional or not. Only issue for me with passing is it would be nice to see the ball travel faster and more variety in the in accuracy of throws— I either see the ball hit a guy in the hands or end up short, for the most part. The man coverage calls work pretty well for the user and AI.
Running with ball is really stiff and not very responsive. Controlling a defender is also stiff.
So do injuries happen in-game or otherwise for the user team? Also I'm not seeing any of my players dealing with disciplinary issues... CPU teams deal with them but my team doesn't get them at all

I had zero expectations of the gameplay because I've played the past games and with the budget and small team, that's what you get. But, I can admit I was a bit disappointed that some things in the dynasty mode wasn't polished. The memory leak crash wasn't a big deal because there was an obvious work-around, but the recruiting combine numbers, the three top schools, the clock, the depth chart, a true top 25 poll...things like that should've been checked on before the release.
The depth chart is one of the worst things I've ever seen. I feel MF tried to be different here, but when you're a sports game, sometimes the best option is to be a copy cat and it was a major mistake to not have the depth chart look like every other football game made. A top 25 poll I would think would be one of the first things added to a dynasty mode, so I was shocked when I couldn't find it after looking knowing it had to be there somewhere.
The recruiting things can all be fixed in a CU, but the linemen running 4.2s and WR lifting numbers are backwards or glitched. Also, to make the gameplay clock and sim clock the same was a mistake. I can put up 200 passing yards and 300 rushing yards in 10 minute quarters, so there should be no reason I'm forced to play 15 so the league can sim at 15:00 quarters.
Honestly, all this will probably be patched and fixed sometime in the next month or so, which is why this game was a day one purchase for me. I would've bought it and put it on a shelf to help these guys out, but I was excited to play thinking that it would be a polished sim, just not with exceptional gameplay, but that wasn't the case. Hopefully, since they have an excellent community and even better devs that evaluate and listen, this game is tremendous by December.
    Having a blast with it..
The idea is to be OPEN.
    This isn’t from EA..
    This isn’t from 2K..
You have hella customization options with a big upgrade from last year.. dynasty will get worked on. Those same three schools? Meh, who cares, edit your two star when u sign him.
If this isn’t hitting you for enough college? Make it into a High school football dynasty that you can transfer to your NCAA 14..
So many ways to find the bright aide with this game. It forces us to be creative, and get busy in our own world

FWIW, I believe that it would be a penalty to call back to back timeouts, so the glitch is partially that you couldn't snap the ball, and partially that there wasn't a penalty called.
Assuming I am correct, which I am not certain.

Not true for US college. Team can call as many TO's as they have left back to back. NFL yes this is true, one time out per dead ball.

You have to unlock the prospect's interest in each pitch. The values on the left of the recruiting dialogue display how strong your team is in certain pitches.

Is anybody else seeing no offense at all? Nearly every game for me is a series of 3 & outs from my and the CPU's teams. I play 7-minute quarters on hard difficulty with the catch slider at 100%. For example, the below is from one half of a game and these stats reflect the same experience for all of my games.
    Me
    CPU
    Passing
    3/13--34 yards
    2/5--17 yards
    Rushing
    9 carries for 17 yards
    10 carries for 12 yards
    Net Yards
    46
    29
    T.O.P.
    7:34
    6:26
As you can see, nothing is happening. Is there a trick to make offenses come alive? Also, can nobody else audible on defense, or am I overlooking it?

What I am seeing in Dynasty is very little running in the simmed years for my team, even with a great OL and RB's. I have also noticed something odd with the players and their stats if you edit them. Once you go back to the roster or depth chart their stats are lower for most positions. Is there an issue with the tables possibly being miss-indexed or something? Would that also cause the issue with positions like WR being 5' 11" and 340 lbs? Almost all the players have misrepresented sizes for the positions.
QB is the only position that appears unaffected if edited. In the 3 Dynasty's I have started the DE's and MLB also are almost unstoppable on hard for the run. Even CPU vs CPU is a sack fest/loss of yards. That could also account for low rush numbers, but I would expect average attempts then.
    Spear
Try using the formation depth chart and changing away from the global depth chart. The formation depth chart has a different UI.

How do you pull up the formation depth chart?
Is everybody else experiencing the massive 1-2 second button response delay time I am in the game? QB doesn't start to pass the ball until well after the button is pressed. I run my defenders past or into ball carriers well before the dive animation actually happens. Lots of times changing defenders is delayed or I can't change at all at times. Jukes and spins also are very delayed. This makes the game very hard to play and I really want to. If the button response time were improved the game's playability would be much higher.
Also tried to fair catch with returner and he instead jumped like he was swatting a pass instead of fair catching which caused him to miss the punt.
Can't wait for the first patch to come out!

The patch is really going make or break this game, and perhaps the series. If they can demonstrate that they can fix something like the DB awareness and reactions so that the deep routes aren't left completely open, then we know the build is responsive and issues can be identified and addressed in a timely manner. If all they are able to do is superficial updates, like having the receiver catch a ball when a fair catch is called (it's currently dropped every time), then this game probably has to go on the shelf.
I'm really interested to see what they are able to correct post-release. The developer has been great about acknowledging problems. If they can fix a bunch of them, and give us a more playable game, I will be impressed.
I am waiting on the patch as well. Too many things right now causing crashes and frustrating my playing. Also, not sure if all the issues with the def are causing issues in the sim games too, but I have picked a couple teams during Dynasty that were powerhouses and edited some players. Team should have been unstoppable, but alas, never more than 8 wins. Will give it a fair shot after the major patch. I don't expect perfection, but the sim engine will make it or break it for me.

I did have one question about tiebreakers for teams in each conference. Does it go by head to head result or something else?
From what I've noticed, when teams have the same record, it puts the teams with most Points For at the top.
    Thanks!

The patch won’t “make or break” anything fam. I hope it will definitely improve the quality of games for us which I believe it should improve for sure. I’m sure it may make it or break it to you but there are others like me to find work arounds till the fixes are there.
There will be more things they will add that ppl will be upset about to get fixed even post release haha.

I mean, I suppose it's relative. It's a customizable college football game. There will always be customers for this until there is a better alternative. That said, if you release a football game with broken DB play and then say you are going to fix it through a patch, you better be able to legit fix it through a patch or you will lose people.
I'm not saying that if they can't fix a lot of these issues people will riot. For most, this game has already exceeded expectations as is. For others, paying for the game is as much a Madden protest as anything. What I am saying is, if they can clean up some of these game play mechanics-- like the DBs and second level blocking-- it will be a very positive sign that will reward customers who already purchased the game and stimulate even more positive word of mouth. If they can't really fix many of these things, I can tell you for me, I will not be recommending this to anyone or be predisposed to purchase in the future. Maybe others feel the same way, maybe no one does. But, if I'm a betting man, I'd bet people are pretty interested to see what this patch does.

Very interested. Hell I just want to play one game with my customized dynasty. Cant get past the coin flip with the memory leak issue. Edited all the teams over the weekend so I am all setup to play but just cant play. On a positive note I did get week 1 recruiting in and that was fun as hell. Just on pins and needles ready to play and start building.
As excited as I was for a college football game to come out, I knew to manage my expectations for this title. Boy, did I not keep my expectations low enough!! None of the depth chart/ roster look familiar with American football at all, the overalls of the players is either not there or moved. The stat categories are all weird and they don't explain what half of them are. The exhibition games are all fake NFL teams, not college. The plays to chose from on both sides of the ball are absolutely awful. This game isn't even comparable to the first NCAA 99!!! I knew the graphics were going to be bad, but not everything else in the game!

I feel alittle bit of the same. I"m glad I spent the $30.00 to support them. I'm hoping they get enough support that it becomes like Hello Games and No Mans Sky with consistent improvements and updates.

As someone who spent from about 2006-2009 messing around with Maximum Football on the PC, and then seen the subsequent iterations, I am not surprised with this or all the other justifiable critiques. Unfortunately I just don't believe David Winter is a very good programmer, nor does he really understand football. I don't think anything at this point will save this year's game, and I doubt future versions will avoid the same issues. Frustrating to watch this for over a decade.
That criticism is pretty harsh. I will say I'm slightly underwhelmed but this game was hyped quite a bit. Plus I still have NCAA 13 on PS3. So my comparison was probably unfair.
Personally, the biggest things here for me are gameplay improvements, announcing, and the overall atmosphere in the stadium to recreate the college style atmosphere.
I say that, I mean I think college games tend to be typically more rowdy and rambunctious than pro games. People in the states really support their school. Case in point. I used to be an nfl fan, and could care less about watching nfl games now days. However, college football is different. It's a whole other way of looking at the game.
Case in point, Ohio State vs Michigan. Ohio and Michigan actually nearly fought a shooting war over a town. I think it was Toledo, that the states actually at one point sent their militia to fight each other, and the government had to step in. According to my old social studies teacher.
That's the level many of the rivalries go to. I know it takes time and money to improve, but if doing a college game, you will want to try to capture the rowdy crowds that are screaming so loud even during many of the plays the stadium seems to shake. As the game is now, how quiet the game is makes it hard for me to really get immersed in the game. If announcing is added in a future game, they wouldn't have to be big names. Maybe a couple of guys talking on a made up network, maybe you could have the Maximum Gameday show or something.
While I feel Maximum needs improvement, I do see a few sparks of greatness. I'll buy it a couple of years or so to see how it goes. David and his team seem very committed and are updating it constantly. Definitely have to respect that. I'm holding out hope that over time these games will keep improving.
Thank you guys for all the hard work you've done on it. I will definitely keep checking in as updates come out.

it wasn't marketed accurately in it's current state. this is a CANADIAN football game that has a US college & pro mode. i hate to say it, but everyone should feel bamboozled. no one wants a canadian football game with canadian plays and positions regardless of US mode. canada might want a canadian football game, but i don't think there's not enough support in the market that warrants having it.
the US has been screaming for a college football game and maybe a madden replacement for years now. i don't feel like that's what we got with this year's game.
"the reason the college teams aren't in play now is because the teams are stored in a separate database." that sounds like a lazy excuse to me. have the Play Now mode read into those databases. or is that too difficult?

If I remember correctly, it is that way because they did not have time to implement that if you wanted a fully functional dynasty mode from scratch. I think it is a small price to pay.

Valid points. A college game with the lack of formations and running plays is my biggest complaint. At this stage it just does not feel like a college experience. Hopefully in time it will. I too am baffled about the play now.
I think the playbooks are getting a little (little) too much heat.
The 11 man playbooks have some pretty good Mesh and Dagger concepts within it. But that’s about as far as it goes. The run plays aren’t so great. The defensive playbooks still have me confused. They don’t look to have any organization to them and I haven’t heard on why there is a lack of players with assignments tagged to them.

if that's the case, fine. but don't market this game before release as a US college football game. none of us knew, at least i didn't, that the college teams were going to be locked behind dynasty mode before hand.
and that mode was about 90% of what was shown. they let a handful of youtubers show 5 teams a day for 3 weeks or so getting us hyped up to play with them only to find out they're locked behind a partial mode in the game. honestly, they could've done without a canadian mode and teams and focused on the college part a little more and we probably wouldn't be complaining as much as we are.
and why do we, as players of the game, have to suggest how to structure a depth chart? position filters have been a basic/fundamental implementation in football games since forever. again, this could've been accomplished before hand by sacrificing the canadian modes.
playbooks? i can halfway understand having 1 playbook. developing plays can be pretty in-depth and time consuming. but it's just weird for us US players to be playing US modes with canadian positions. Slot receivers should not be lining up behind the OL with the QB/RB. My quick suggestion here would be to add a filter, behind the scenes, for US, CAN or BOTH to each play and whatever rule set is selected, the other plays are filtered out if the canadian stuff has to be apart of the game.
i still think the college teams should be unlocked. i'd do whatever it took to get them into Play Now and allow roster editing outside of dynasty mode. especially if there weren't major/necessary patches needed to be released. at least within the next month or two.
i should admit though, i still haven't bought the game yet. the reviews have kept me from pulling the trigger. if gameplay increases, i'm gonna be more inclined to get it.

100% agree with this. I still don't like this look when playing. Sorry but CFL is not real and we will never have any desire to play it in the states. Just facts not intended to argue about the two very different games.

That's probably why he doesn't know you can change the depth chart display. I mean, I do not hold the position that you cannot have your views without purchasing the game. However, if you don't know you should ask questions before criticizing because you make yourself end up the fool if you don't know what you're talking about.
It was discussed in the development or QA thread before release how the College teams are limited to Dynasty.

so you mean to tell me people aren't complaining about the depth chart screen? everyone is an idiot in their youtube reviews?
why would i change the depth chart screen from a list ("Global") to the other views ("Spread"/"Pro"/"Six Pack"). those are basically formation subs. not a full depth chart order.
i think i've done enough research to not have $30 invested in the game and still be able to provide feedback on the game.
Hopefully this will be something changed for next year.
    My wishlist for next year.
Graphics could be a little better, but they don't make the game.
Noise level and rowdy college atmosphere
Playbooks with more triple option and a little more specialized for each team (this may take a couple of years though)
    Announcing
In my opinion, the biggest things are the presentation as in the atmosphere noise levels. I think some who've played the ea games, myself included, are used to that. When the game is quieter, I have a harder time really feeling a part of it and get bored after a while. But I know these things take time to develop. Good job so far! Thanks for the hard work. It looks like this is going a good direction.

    You said it, I didn't.

It is. It may not be what you specifically want, but it is a depth chart.
i think i've done enough research to not have $30 invested in the game and still be able to provide feedback on the game.
    That I agree with.
Let me preface this by saying I am a software developer, and the task that the ONE developer they have on-hand is absolutely monumental. It's an achievement itself that the game even works at all with only a single person writing the code...let alone that they have a functioning dynasty mode as well. "Simple" things that some of you are asking for, are not simple at all when it comes to writing the code for the aforementioned feature/tweak. While you definitely should give criticism and offer ideas, just keep in mind that what's simple in your head, can very much not be simple expressed in code.
That being said, the game is pretty unplayable for me in its current state for a few reasons:
    - The UI is extremely unresponsive and slow in some areas (it took me almost twenty minutes just to do one week of recruiting). I'm not sure if this is a performance issue in the code itself, or it's doing an unnecessary expensive operation (For instance, happens whenever you end a recruiting call)
-Simming weeks is slow (my guess is either the algorithm is slow, or the database is getting hammered unnecessarily)
    - Depth Chart sucks, although it sounds like this might have been fixed in the latest update
Even if I don't play this game at all, I still feel good about paying $30 for it. As others have said, it's more of a donation to the team to continue working and improving the product so that we eventually have a college football game again. However, I do understand people being upset about the price tag.
The actual gameplay is quite a bit better than I expected though, so there is certainly some positives with the game.
Keep plugging away and try not to take the criticisms too harshly!
Do I think it's worth $30, yeah. Is it great game, no. It's decent. Since the patch, I've had penalties against me and none against the computer. Even though my defense is better than the offense, their wrs blow by my dbs. Conversely, my wrs get zero separation against their dbs. Passing short is a no go bc everything is congested. Throwing a bullet pass is pointless bc the pass is ends up in no man's land.
I hate the delay when you try to do anything. Maybe it's just me not used to it. I've yet to see a turnover which is odd. All that being said, I bought it bc you could recruit. Even though it takes a while I enjoy doing. I hadn't decided if I want to play every game or not. I did sim one season and only won 4 games. Not sure if it's random or bc of ratings. Im going to keep playing it and see where it goes. One thing that has me pumped is the dev's listen to us and have worked on fixes. That's more than what madden and ea does.
The DB/defensive secondary issue needs to be addressed. I think that is part of the reason why when simulating seasons there are such random results as far as win/loss, even with powerhouse teams. Something is happening and it is probably defensive. I am not playing every game in the season just to get realistic results.
So is there a way to have 2 different dynasties with different sets of teams? I’m trying to do a dynasty for each college league

I apologize if you said, but are you actually controlling the players or doing coach mode?
The results you are seeing with the WR/CB interaction - is that regardless of the ratings involved? This is my big concern. If ratings don't impact play, then dynasty is kind of meaningless.

This was me playing vs computer. Their wrs would outrun my dbs and catch bombs 5 yards past the dbs. Their dbs are stride for stride with my wrs. Doesn't matter the side, both do it. Im not sure matchup rating. I know the team I played was 1 point lower on offense and defense. I honestly think tweaks here and there and it will be a game I want to play a ton.

Well, let the bashing begin. I haven't bought it yet, either. But I did buy both previous versions and the idea that there are 130 teams or so that are locked in one mode only is a little ridiculous for a football game that purports to let you PLAY college football. It's fun for the folks who " bought it so I can recruit". But you could do that with any management type program. I just feel this game should have started at the beginning - solid gameplay, correct rules, penalties, etc., access to all teams in all modes and then the crown jewel of this franchise....customization. Then dynasty, seasons etc. Seems it's built backwards to me. I may still purchase when patches are in, if not for just support, then maybe to customize some play now teams with better gameplay than Max FB 18 had. Right now it sounds on this board like gameplay is not even up to 18's standards, so I' m still playing 18. I truly hope it gets there...keep plugging!

No, it will not change teams in your active Dynasty #1.
However, any change you make in one dynasty file will be there when you CREATE a new dynasty (dynasty 2,3,4, or 5).
I changed the name of Sunflower State to Kansas State in my Dynasty 1. When I go to the "Create New Dynasty" and select it, Sunflower State displays as Kansas State.

The DB/secondary issue has been fixed in the content update that is now available on PS4 and will be on the Xbox next week.
As for simulating results, our default roster doesn't have a massive range between the good and bad teams. We're looking at expanding that in the next content update by putting a new default roster. It's a delicate process because our entire game is based upon ratings and if we put a team of players in the 50s, we will get complaints that they can't do anything against a team in the 90s.
We have a couple community members working on finding a balance with the rosters.
We will also be adding gameplay sliders very soon which will help everybody get the balance they are looking for on the field.

    Ok. Thats cool.
Btw, as far as the US Pro rosters and Canadian rosters, is there any way for either you guys using the correct jersey numbers for all teams? I would just like to know how you guys came up with the ratings. For example, i want to make sure Carson Wentz of Phi is the same as the top rated QB of rhe Firebirds before I edit the team. Im asking because I dont want to mess with the ratings. I just want to fix the team names and logos and just play. Trying to figure out ratings would take way too long for me.
*Also hope your team comes out with periodical ratings updates.

Uh.. unless you’ve been under a rock, it’s been very clear how to access the 3 different leagues (College, US Pro and Canadian). They’ve explained this in the FAQ if I’m not mistaken as well.
And not sure where you’re getting MF19 is behind 18s.. I’m sorry, there’s things that need worked on, but saying it’s not leap years beyond 18 is insane. (This is coming from someone who played a ton of MF18). Maybe playing the game and then giving impressions would be a much better idea.
Hello. Just my 2 cents here. I bought this game for 18 version and then I bought this game last week. It does have potential. However there are too many bugs for me to enjoy it the game crashed when editing my players several times. It seems to me that you can't edit settings once in dynasty like most important time. 15 mins is too long and normal is too hard for me at this time. The gameplay is ok dbs always getting beat deep. Some tackle animations are not realistic. Just simply running into ballcarrier is good enough. Sometimes if I stopped playing mid game and then went back to it I wouldn't get option to resume. It was just say if u start this game you have one in progress.
It's a shame bc game has potential and it's cool to see college teams. I'm also on xbox one so no patch yet. Spear if u can allow to edit times and difficulty once in dynasty and the crashing I would give it another shot. Also are there injuries in the game? Still good work and I'm willing to give this game another shot

Once you get the patch the game should stop crashing in customization. It's already live on the Playstation.
You can edit the Dynasty settings in the offseason. Yes there are injuries in the game.
Thanks spear. Got it. Two more questions. How do u delete an existing dynasty to free that slot up since there are only 5? Also when setting up the season how do u get to select a specific team. I created Notre Dame and I can't seem to get them. I try to switch from cdn college to us college but it never seems to switch to Notre Dame. I keep switching back and forth bc the teams change when I do that? Can u help spear.
Definitely giving this game another shot once Xbox gets patch.

You can load one of the Dynasty saves and "reset" it from the Dynasty Hub.
All College team customization is done within Dynasty Mode itself and the edits will carry over from each Dynasty you start. So you would start a new Dynasty then press "Y" to enter customization.
Hey spear. Thanks for quick replies. Just finished my first game on those long 15 min qtrs. A couple of things. Stats are not being tracked accurately. Once I went to dynasty hub and went into statistics only showed cpu passing stat for qb. Running stats did not include qb. Other stats were ok other than tackles. Tackles did not register for my team accurately. Played these long qtrs and my leading tackler had 3. I know that is not accurate. Kinda not good and deal breaker I like accurate stats. Also when I got to week 2 to check stats. All same
Note my roster is edited to be Notre Dame and I'm on Xbox one

Did you exit the game at any point and simulate? or did you play the entire game?

Played the entire game. But I did save it yesterday and then resumed today and finished it

Hmm okay. I'll try to replicate on my console to find the root issue.
