Good, the way it should always have been if others are allowed to buy their way up in an instant.
Welcome back, difficulty modifier. Not sure why you ever left but your seat's still warm.
Watching the video now. And every single year I loathe the Dragic trade more and more lol. Like the player and the man but he wasn't worth forking all those assets for. And he takes up too much cap space in these games.
+Love the options you can take on contracts. I didn't like being locked into a team for 3-4 years while I watched management make dumb decision after dumb decision.
+Great decision with the drills/XP distribution and not having some be way too easy and others be impossible
+I see 5k points is needed for Bronze and 15k for silver. Anyone see the rest? God, if they cut the grind in half for literally every tier, that is music to my ears.
+"You don't have to go to the lemonade stand to get the 4th one" As Marv Albert would say, yesssssss
    -God damn it. Are we gonna have to sit through every post game interview now ;_;
This year looks very promising. Last year I was so disappointed pre-launch but this year looks way more user friendly and that they actually care about their consumer.
Seems like there is alot more depth in mode outside story. The Team Takeover does sound interesting.
"When team takeover is activated in mycareer, you take control of all 5 players on your team.
Could be great for some harder to grind badges!
    Found on @NBA2KonReddit"
Similar to Orange Juice. I could have used it last year. Had this generated platey who was a all around Star that I would have loved to controll.
Will have to watch on my lunch break.

Good to hear, I figured at the rate I got VC in The Prelude, you could get your player to 85 in one season, assuming you play solid basketball. It will probably be less than that once you figure in endorsements and some of the better (i.e. return vs time invested) Neighborhood activities.
Man its great to see Smoove in Mycareer trailers, especially with this 2K being the 20th. I remember watching his 2k10 and 2k11 and growing fond of 2k because of his commentary and gameplay. This is a great way to show love to the person who really put mycareer on the map
Smoove coming clutch to convince me to buy this game after the disappointing (to say the least) MyCareer experience last year. The offline experience looks so good and it's great that the grind (for VC and badges) is much easier now. If someone wants to "buy" their 85-overall player day one, so be it; if not, people who only play offline will have a fair chance to improve their players. And this time it seems like I'll create some extra archetypes/players to shake things up a bit when I get bored of my PG build. Looking forward to see more videos from Smoove and other Youtubers.
Now I only need a confirmation that the team mates AI has improved in all aspects and 2K will get my 60€ once again, after almost not buying it. Don't disappoint me, 2K! :y16:
Here's my quick notes as I listened through. I've bolded the stuff that I found most interesting.

-You enter free agency out of the prelude. Team's offers will be determined by your play in the prelude and how much they need your position. You'll have some room to negotiate. The negotiation options are interesting. Especially being able to negotiate the teammate multiplier.
-You need "mypoints" to reach the cap breaker. These can be earned in any of the mycareer modes. The gains are increased by having a good teammate grade, beating better opponents.
-Badge progression is a lot faster. Practice drills are 1-to-1. If you pick Ankle breaker in practice, you'll work on a drill to build that. Drills are also reworked. 4 games per practice (and no need to go to the stand). Team practices still pop up randomly.
-Menus reworked. After a game, you can go straight to the practice, the neighborhood, next game.
-Boosts are available right away in the neighborhood.
-Myanimations menu has been re-worked. Everything in one place, laid out more cleanly
-Clothes can be changed from the menu. Don't have to go back to the house.
-Career objectives: When you load up, there's an active objective to chase. For example, it could be...get more minutes, get into the starting the lineup, or get into all-star voting...etc...
-You can become all-star captain weekend.
-Fan and teammate chemistry. There's direct feedback letting you know when you gain/lose friends or team chemistry goes down (video showed an indicator in the crowd showing fan appreciation going up). Could be affected by a play or an answer that you give in an interview or conference or attending events....etc...
-Fans lead directly to endorsements. Smoove says this comes around every 10 games or so. You get in-game incentive bonuses, and you get to choose which ones you want to take. There will be a list and you get to choose which ones you want to add to your contract.
    -There's sponsor specific perks.
    -Marketability matters.
-Teammate chemistry is important. Leads to unlocking team takeover. This will let you control the whole team.
-New VIP stats tracking feature. It will track though all different game modes in mycareer. Leaderboards for you to compare against your friends.
-Daily bonus will also let you get clothes. It wil also give you daily tasks that will get you extra VC...like compete in 5 games in mycareer.

Wow this all sounds great. Looks like I'll be giving MyCareer a serious shot this year.
So from what I saw, we earn attribute points from mypoints. So does that mean we can't improve our players from Play Now Online anymore since (assuming) we only get VC from there?
    zello144
I wonder if Market size impacts marketability. Like playing in NYC or LA would earn you more fans than playing in Utah or Orlando.
Good question but I don't think they went that deep. Good idea though...

I think in one of his streams Ronnie said you earn MyPoints from every mode.

I’ve been watching him since 2K9 and it truly just dawned on me with your comment that he really is the guy who put MyPlayer/MyCareer on the map. Agreed that it’s great they showed him true exclusive love.
After 2K18 I really wasn’t sure about getting this one but now this is an early cop for me and everything looks and feels great so far. Haven’t been this excited for a release in a while.
Based on all of this my 6'10 Two Way Athletic Finisher is definitely headed to the Lakers, they have a gaping hole at C and Ball, Rondo, LeBron will be throwing some lobs with lots of opportunities for highlight plays. 😎
One thing that is missing. How does the G league fit into all of this? In the MyCareer story mode trailer it showed your player in the G league. Now Chris Smoove says after the prelude is over you go straight into Free Agency. Is that we pick a team and then get sent to their G-League affiliate or what? Though it seems like only the Mad Ants are playable.

I believe the prelude presists of the whole Pre-NBA experience. Where the Demo/Prelude was just Chapter 1 of the prelude.
Then when you create a new player, you have the option to skip that whole process and jump into that initial FA
This makes last year feel like it was year one how shallow MyCareer was.
-More direct Practices was sorely needed. There were badges that took forever to obtain during games but you couldn't really work on in practice. What I did last year was focus on one badge at a time, this will make it alot easier.
-The Contract/Endorsements negotiations was something I really wanted for years. Alot of incentives given were things my player couldn't do, so this helps. Love the Teammate grade multiplier in contract. Will make players strive to get better teammate grades. I LOVE adjusting contract years. I hated being locked into 3-4 deals after your rookie season. It would have been nice to get a player option. Like doing a 1+1 but maybe in future. One thing I hope in Free Agency is they show you the roster post draft/mid FA. You didn't know who else a team signed or drafted. I got lucky last year. I wanted to go to a team with #1 pick and got lucky that they got it and it was star player. I want to do that again.
-I like the initial Free Agency thing. Even though people will still pick what ever team they originally wanted, but this will give more incentive to choose the team that really needs you. You'll get more VC and more minutes for joining a team that needs your position.
-I like the ideal of Team Takeover. At points of games, you'll want to switch to a player who is more suited towards the situation. Only thing I don't like is it being available at 50% Team Chemistry. I rather it be a lot higher. 85% would be better. That way you really have to earn your chemistry.
-The Daily Spin could be beneficial. Chance to get extra VC and My points. The Mypoints prize seems more beneficial since it can help speed up the grind.

Dude im Fully with you On this just another Thing of many they have Added imo to make it more Realistic like if you think about it in Real life you negotiate your contract no team tells you your here for 2 years this if you dont like it walk

That's one of the top things for me. Main reason I didn't like the forced 3-4 years contract is that I'm usually around 87-90 OVR. I rather do another 1 year deal and sign a long term contract at a higher OVR for my VC
"I dont know but im thinking chris doesnt have access to that beings that only prelude is out and he is at home and not 2k studios he may have only access to the prelude but i maybe wrong"
2K stated he was given FULL access  to My career.....and here we have it! Thanks 2k and  Smoove for this .....
I love everything in the video. Except for the Team Takeover forcing you to control all 5 players.
Can we have an option not to do that and stay player-locked and still get the boost for the whole team? I’m just not crazy about controlling teammates in this mode and prefer the separation between this and MyGM/MyLeague.
I'm liking the user experience focus and improvements. Making choices play out faster and clearer is never a bad thing.
With the modifier back, it seems to me 2K is at least open to trying to find a balance with VC accrual, which is somewhat gutsy given the model wasn't broken $ wise. We'll have to wait to find out for sure but I'm really hoping this leads to a more enjoyable grind. I guess it doesn't mean the grind will be any shorter but here's hoping. Hopefully it at least means quicker upfront progression and perhaps more of a grind down the back end - people wanting to go to 96 and beyond are probably more tolerant and expecting of a grind, but it was too much of a grind IMO to get to just 90, for instance.
Get me to 90 quicker, and I'll enjoy it far more, be more willing engage with the mode. It's not like more ~90's online will make much of a difference really.

I think the MyPoints are only for increasing attribute caps. VC will still be used to raise the attributes themselves.

Correct, MyPoints are basically XP towards cap breakers ; you still have to spend VC to actually purchase the attributes.

He basically invented what MyCareer is today with his creative story telling in between the actual games in 2K11. I don't watch him anymore but gotta give it to smoove. He was good back in the days.

Not wild about the Gatorade boost being back.

I did see in the video as the player was going back into the lockeroom that it said "Gatorade boost expired" on the top right of the menu.
And since Gatorade training center is back, it makes sense it will return
These are pretty minor pet peeves, I admit, but I still feel like venting about them.
I wish our contract was presented as a $ amount. I get how VC runs everything in the game/mode, but still. It kills the immersion.
Another thing that I was hoping would get fixed but noticed in the Prelude was still an issue was how even if your player is left-handed, in any cutscene that involves shooting your player shoots right-handed. Total immersion-killer! Again, I understand how it probably isn't worth 2K's time/money to shoot all those scenes twice, but it's a total let-down any time I see that.

I'd like them to inflate the numbers of VC so I'd look like real $ only they would have to make everything much more expensive.
I’m glad I can negotiate my contract. Hopefully next year they put in an actual offseason so I can see where other free agents are signing so I can make my choice.

I agree with this. Like make our contract a $ amount, make clothes and uniforms cost that $...maybe let us buy new apartments or something. Then make the progression be whether it's training sessions or games be VC and let us upgrade our attributes that way.
But make our contract mean something.

Me too. First thing I'm going to do is find a team and ask for the max amount on everything and see what I can get away with.
So you start your NBA career in the offseason right after the 2018 NBA Draft right? Like if I wanted to play for the Mavericks, they would still have Doncic so I would likely need to make a SF/PF if I wanted to start correct? Also, do you get a contract from every team or is it just a select few?
From i seen every team will give a offer each team will have different ratios Depending on need of that position aswell for negotiating your contract
I made a shot creating post scorer which I'll grind with and I'll use my preorder VC bonus on my secondary slashing shot creating shooting guard.
Yes I love using shot creators lol

I'm going with a 6'8 250 lb SF pure point forward I feel like going to the cavs so I can fill in after LeBron left.

Man, you will have hard time in getting assists in those Cavs
