  1. I'm someone who's always muted the soundtrack in 2K and just played my own playlists, so these reveals have never really been huge for me.
Anyways did anyone else notice in the recent video 2K put up when LeBron asked Travis who he played with, and he replied "my homies". Like no sh*t he obviously meant what team(s) lol.
Cool I guess. Will last long than Madden 19 soundtrack outside the bubblin and T.I's track on there.
At least the children will learn who Mike Jones is.....

I don’t see much mumble rap in there.
Happy with Stir Fry, one of my favourite Migos tracks. Nice selection but I’m surprised at no Jay Rock considering they used WIN for a trailer last week.

I guess mumble rap is the direction all these games are following now.
Three days grace finally got some love though!!!

There’s 1 “mumble rap” song on there. Folks gotta stop just labeling everything as mumble rap
Lmao at all these current rap songs and then Outstanding by Gap Band towards the end, wish there was more of a mix of genres, but the artist-curated playlists are always a bit one-sided.
I must be old...I recognized like 3-5 names, and one of them was The Gap Band, lol. I might be killing that song :59: .
I thought Spotify was integrated into NBA 2K somehow?

Sorry I'm old school & everything from 2010 on forward sounds the same.
Dre, Snoop, 2Pac, Biggie, Eminem, 50 Cent, & everybody from those times were distinct and original.
I Wanna Be A Baller! OK!
"I Hit the Hwy, make money the fly way, but there's gotta be a Better way... a better way...a better way Yeah ahh"
Favorite Rendition was Big Tigger and Mos Def singing this in the Basement!

I would love some old-school aggressive sounding rap in the soundtrack...man, to hear "My Ambitionz Az a Ridah" while posterizing someone, lol.
Surprised to see Still Tippin, Game over, wanna be a baller and Outstanding from the Gap Band lol
Overall do not think I like but as usual it’s a unknown song that gets me hooked. Usually something I would never listen to.

Not surprised at some of the choices seeing that he's a Houston native....will definitely be rocking...still tipping and wanna be a baller lol

I’ve only heard of like 7 songs on this whole list.
Whatever happened to the soundtracks in 2k13 and 2k14 where they actually played songs that people know and like

    Who.......?
Honestly, this sound track is severely lacking a lot of what makes hip hop. I don't see any Meek Mill, 6ix9ine, Jay Rock. Im cool off listening to song called Mo Bamba. Its 2018, why is Mike Jones on my soundtrack? The last game he was on, Vick was still on the Falcons. We need to do better 2k.

I don't know most of these tracks, which I used to dig because that meant I might be exposed to some new music I might like. But I'm a little skeptical with the Travis Scott curation on account of not digging his music and thus wondering how I'm going to feel about his own personal recommendations.
If I can carve out a playlist of at least 10 or 12 reliable tracks, I'll be content enough to not be driven completely crazy by December.
I miss being able to load my own music onto my XBox like the previous generation. Are there any apps or workarounds for that that I'm missing?

I actually think the best ones were when it was a lot of names we or I wasn’t used to.

I like old school as much as the next guy but I can't lie I'm enjoying the flow of this soundtrack. Sometimes unfamiliar is a good thing and I'm loving the beats and vibe I'm getting listening to this. Besides it's fresh and new which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I can imagine lounging scrolling through the menus just relaxed listing to NBA 2K19's soundtrack. Great job Travis Scott and 2K!
Well this definitely isn't the sound track for me, think there was about 6 songs that I think I could deal with hearing multiple times with Gap Band Outstanding being my favorite and Baller and Driftin also being on that list.
I was scrolling down going through them on Spotify and saw song title Rock It, i'm like oh snap that's going on my list...was thinking of a Old School song....and that wasn't what I was thinking of.....oh well. Lol
I've honestly only heard of like three artists/bands on this list. Not saying that's bad, but it just makes me feel old lol.
At least there are 47 songs on the soundtrack though. It'll be easier to play without hearing the same songs constantly.

While playing spades or dominos...get it right Young Buck, lol.
Northside Houston native so I love every Houston song he put on there. I like most of the other songs too, Migos will probably get muted but most the songs I’m happy about. Glad they didn’t let Lebron do it agai cause 2K14 was unbearable. Pharrell did 2K15 and had “Mama Used to Say” on there which admittedly is a jam but isn’t a basketball song lol.
I’m talking down on those soundtracks but I play around so much in MyLeague and Roster editing that I end up knowing every song anyway.
    No songs from Astroworld huh
Also Three Days Grace, in 2018, on a 2K soundtrack....Sure
I love BadBadNotGood, Dua Lipa, Travis, Uzi, Trippe, and like a lot of the songs by other artists or at least know who they are musically
Pretty good sountrack, even better than the Madden on
I won't listen to it since I play my Spotify during it(which has a lot of these artists on it) but pretty nice
I don't understand why sports games don't just go out and copy MLB The Show....its been long enough...somebody could have stolen that feature by now
    Incoming RANT!!!
I wish 2K/VC would forgo curation of a soundtrack and pay for the copyright use of in game arena sounds. So my replays could have some f'ing sound. Who gives a ish about what this dude likes. I hated it when you did it with spike and others becuase it's stupid use of resources.
For those of you saying "I don't know most of these tracks" just remember that NBA 2K was all about having songs you never heard. I refer you to 2K5 and 2k6 where it was largely underground and obscure.
Game Over being in an NBA game is something my middle school self would've been all about back in 2003.
Some of this is kinda going in...not gonna lie(haven't heard Alot of it before)..this g herbo song bumps and this dark Knight dummo song imo also this speaking gently song is different yet funky.. definitely gonna mute finesse tho(heard it too much already)
This Song Chanel by this Asian group has me rolling....never thought I would hear mumble rap like this lol

Co-signed. 2K5 I still think had the best soundtrack with Bukue One, Aceyalone, The Heiroglyphics, Del The Funkee Homosapien...
2K8 introduced me to Dilla. The soundtracks used to be like a carefully woven tapestry and when combined with the UI, it put you in the mood for balling. You know that feeling where you almost feel like you're getting high off the music? (Although that might be due to a combination of factors like staring at a screen for too long and not eating in a long while LOL) Nowadays, I see the soundtracks as just a collection of random songs just smushed together.
Honestly contrary to what I think most people in this thread think, I like most of the soundtrack a lot. Bishop Nehru, Sheck Wes, Anti, I reallly like it. I’d just wish we’d have the option to delete or mute the songs we wouldn’t like to listen to from playing
The Black Veil Brides makes no sense on this soundtrack whatsoever
EDIT: I’d probably delete more than half of the soundtrack I just went through it throughly don’t like it much

Hold up - I can't be the only one that noticed that 2K put out an official press release and forgot to replace the "lorem ipsum" Latin placeholder text with a real Travis Scott quote.
Unless Scott now speaks fluent Latin.
I wish they would accommodate the old guys like me with a few 80s and 90s songs. When they had Phil Collins on 2k14 I knew that soundtrack was going to be great. A great blend of old and new. They're catering too much to you youngins. No disrespect. Just not real music to me.

I think a neat idea, especially this being the 20th anniversary, would have been to have 2 or 3 tracks from the previous iterations. Could have Back Home from 2k5, One Day from 2k10, those Failsafe songs from 2k11, Under the Cover of Darkness from 2k15, the Stokeswood song from 2k17....that woulda been cool. Of course it'd still leave people complaining about what was left off.
    Man I just love music.
My playlist goes from classical, country, to trap...lol. We all have a preference end of day, but I think people get too stuck in time periods/genres and dont let themselves evolve. It's all music!

    Anyway,
    I dig the soundtrack.

Sports video game soundtracks are a tough nut to crack, I imagine. A while ago I realized every time a soundtrack came out, the first thing I'd do was scan the list for artists I know. But then it dawned on me pretty quickly that any songs I'm familiar with are probably ones I'd grown tired of a long time ago.
It's like, my instinct when I saw Outkast listed on a soundtrack (as was the case in 2K17 and 2K18) was to get excited. But then I realize I'd already overplayed "Ms. Jackson" and "So Fresh, So Clean" almost 20 years ago and I probably wasn't ready to hear them a million times over the course of that year's 2K cycle.
I think my soundtrack sweet spot is one of diversity, and that's probably why I always end up going to the 2K10, 2K11, and 2K12 years when I think about soundtracks that resonated. Those years seemed to hit a lot of genres, featured a lot of then-unknown-but-talented artists, and still included some classics. I reckon that's also why Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtracks always tended to go over so well. Lots of diversity, and even when using big names, they kept you on your toes. They'd include Sublime but it wouldn't automatically be "What I Got" or "Santeria". They might hint at some N.W.A. but have it be a D.O.C. solo cut.
Anyway, too early for me to tell anything about the 2K19 soundtrack but I'll be curious to see.
I kinda know uzi so I dig his music a lil bit..
Travis Scott (old Travis Scott) was influenced CRAZY by Kid Cudi and Kanye West...I mean they both been in 2k before but I'm surprised not on again.
Travis has a couple hype songs that i would've expected too..but..I mean who knows lol
Happy Herbo's getting some love but yo my man Denzel Curry had like the album of the year imo wish he could've been in....
But we'll see..I usually mute whatever gets super annoying to me and I never expect a 2k sound track to by what I want it to be lol

This soundtrack has really aged me or shows me how out of touch I am with today's "hip-hop" because everything sounds the same and is complete trash. I ain't know who Travis Scott was until now and definitely will be avoiding his "music". I feel so old now since I wanna say back in my day we actuality had artist, creativity and actual music when I only in my mid 30's. Smh all those songs and I'll have to mute all but a handful.

Rock = racism is genuinely your own take on the matter so you can’t pretend that anybody else is saying that.
Madden had ****in confederate general Yelawolf on the other year, go at that if you want to claim racism, not a genre of music that isn’t presented in the soundtrack.
Anyway, as always, there are alternatives to a bad soundtrack.
As for the new rap vs old school stuff I’m seeing in here, it’s some elitist **** as it always is. I didn’t expect to see it on an NBA 2K forum though tbh. But if people wrote off the likes of Pac before giving him a chance we would’ve gotten nowhere in hip hop. And I’m saying this as somebody who has given new age hip hop a prolonged chance and I’m still not hugely impressed.

    Man look
I've come to accept there is a giant gap in how OS views everything and how like...normal people view things
I attribute it to age mostly and the fact it's of course insulated here, you see it with the reaction to MyTeam/Ultimate Team, the No Coach Mode no 2K thread, reactions to the music, all that.
Also if you want recs for newer rap/hip-hop hmu, I got a wide berth of taste when it comes to it from the lyrical flows to ignorant bangers, to all of it. I just love the hip-hop we got today man, just the innovation behind the production and how many new artists can be found making decent to good sounding music is just nice.
Yea man a lot of rap these days heavily relies on the music itself, beats and atmosphere...vocal effects...it's evolved from just dudes spitting over beats to songs and almost like pop music in a way...
Don't mean it's bad..cuz I find a lot of old school rap boring..I appreciate the level of mic skill but as a whole, the song itself, is lacking. Beats get outdated and hooks are different..it's just the era you grew up in..doesn't mean it has to be trash and garbage if you don't like it.

When I was younger, I used to really only like artists who were technically good rappers, your Eminems, your Kendricks, your MF Dooms, etc
Then I started to realize, it don't matter how good your rapping skill is, if the beats stink. So I started to get way more interested in artists who make good music, bangers, chill, all of it and my favorites are those who can do both, like Kendrick, Kanye, Outkast, etc

Yeah, I was trying to avoid the era battles in this thread, lol. I'm 42, so I already know that I got a bias preference in music. Most generations think their music was better than the generation after them. Me and my old man got into a discussion about Jodeci vs The Isley Brothers before, lol.

Exactly..it's music not freestyles or battle rap lol
Just because you enjoy hip hop as a whole genre doesn't mean you're ignorant to who has technical abilities...
    Basketball example...
Who's more fun to watch Tim Duncan or Anthony Davis? But obviously Timmy is (at the moment) the better more accomplished player..
Enjoying one but also respecting and acknowledging the other doesn't take anything away from either one
