NBA 2K19 Patch 1.04 Available - Patch Notes Here
NBA 2K19 game update 1.04 is available, check out the patch notes below, thanks to Forbes.
General
- Updated jumbotrons in both the Thunder and Trail Blazers arenas to match the real-world changes made there.
- Nike athletes will now wear the official NBA arm sleeve containing Nike Swoosh and NBA logo. Non-branded arm sleeve is still present for non-Nike athletes.
- Users can now set a ‘Preferred Shorts Length’ in the Gear/Shoe category when creating a player. The shorts length will then be applied when applicable.
Gameplay
- Implemented the newly approved NBA rule that resets the shot clock to 14 seconds following offensive rebounds.
- Reduced the effectiveness of on-ball steals, especially for low rated defenders by implementing the following: increased foul chances for body-to-body contact, increased ball security after rebounds when both hands are on the ball, introduced a cooldown when attempting too many steal attempts in a short amount of time, more mistargeted steal attempts for poorly rated players.
- Fixed a soft hang where an inbounder would get stuck in an off-ball deny animation, preventing him from being able to check the ball.
- Reduced injury wear and frequency for long quarter length games.
- Fixed a case where the ball handler would sometimes get stuck in a double team animation after he had lost the ball.
- Fixed an issue that was preventing up and under layups from playing properly under the basket.
- Changed the color of the Takeover rebounding reticle for Glass Cleaners to make it easier to see against darker court floors.
- A slight reduction in the effectiveness of pass lane steals that are not manually triggered.
- Adjusted shot contest animations to make them more responsive against perimeter jump shots.
- Adjusted the key zoom camera settings for 2K Low and updated some Broadcast camera angles to more accurately reflect their real-life camera locations.
- Changed the logic for the Defensive Stopper badge to apply against opponents 1 position away from the defender’s natural position or when matched up with someone within a 3-inch height difference.
- Shortened several pass flinch reaction animations to improve responsiveness.
- Bench actors will no longer twitch badly when an injured player is helped off the court.
- Fixed some artificial speedups and reduced clipping by defenders when transitioning into hip rides.
- Reduced the frequency of defenders bodying up ball handlers into backcourt violations.
- Reduced clipping that could sometimes happen when two players were fighting for rebounds.
- Increased the speed at which a defender can move while in hands-up.
MyCAREER
- The Gatorade Reaction Drill will now provide badge points upon completion.
- Addressed a case where the user would encounter a visual issue where an endorsement check appeared blank (even though the funds were properly added to the account).
- The Dunk Contest ‘voting race’ will no longer appear during the in-game presentation after the All-Star break.
- Your MyPLAYER will now represent the proper team in the Rising Stars Challenge (Team USA or Team World) during All-Star Weekend.
- Players who are 6’7 will now have their proper Lateral Quickness attribute.
- Fixed an issue where the rotation would rebuild when the user attempted to adjust their own minutes (once this perk is unlocked).
- Fixed a case where the All-Star Captain story scene would hang when both captains shared the same first name.
Neighborhood
- The Daily Spin prize wheel experience has been improved in the Ante-Up environment. There is now a second exterior door that leads you to a room with a number of prize wheels. This will enable you to more quickly get your free rewards each day.
- Users are now able to place text/logos on the sleeves of hoodies/t-shirts when creating Crew uniforms.
- Users can now view how much VC has been earned next to the spinning VC coin icon in the lower-left hand corner of the screen (e.g. when you score in Red Ball Blue Ball; when you knock out an opponent in Dodgeball, etc.)
- Improved visual fidelity with the Neighborhood football.
- Fixed an inbounding exploit that could be used during competitive games in the Neighborhood.
- The Trivia app is now usable inside your MyCOURT.
- Addressed a case where a player could turn themselves invisible by equipping a select compression shirt.
- Improved camera angles when playing in the far courts in the Under Armour cages area of the Neighborhood.
- Finger items should now properly show up in the closet when only a single finger item is owned.
- Kinesiology tape should now properly draw on other players when viewed in the Neighborhood.
- Fixed an issue where VC Sports Management (your agent’s office) would briefly appear closed when quickly approaching it.
- Fixed an issue in Ante-Up where select members of a squad would experience loss of game control after losing a squad game.
- Jump shot celebrations will now only automatically trigger on “green releases.”
- Fixed a display issue where some users were reporting that purchased tattoos were missing. They should now reliably appear for placement.
- Addressed a rare case where the user would get removed from the tattoo parlor and would not have their clothing items re-equipped.
- General improvements to the Dodgeball game experience.
Pro-Am
- Fixed an issue where players in Pro-Am Team and the Jordan Rec Center would sometimes show up in the wrong uniforms.
- Crowd audio will now be audible during Pro-Am gameplay.
- Gamertags, rather than MyPLAYER names, will now be drawn on the back of Pro-Am uniforms.
- Season rankings for Pro-Am/Crews will now appear correctly upon entering the menu.
MyTEAM
- Simplified the goals for unlocking the Auction House such that users now need to only participate in a Triple Threat Online and Unlimited game rather than win one of each.
- Added the ability to clear the notification flags from inside the Collections menu.
- A Dynamic Duo overlay has been added to the pack reveal flow, in order to make you aware of Duo combos as you receive the cards.
- Updated overall rating formula when viewing team lineups.
- Corrected a display issue where a player’s attributes were not shown as boosted when properly Duo’d with his duo partner.
- Dynamic Duo icons will now visually animate when placed in the same Triple Threat lineup.
- Simulated stats will no longer count as accumulated stats for cards when playing challenges.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
- Added the ability for users to override who the game has selected to be an All-Star with selections of their own.
- Improvement to the MVP, Most Improved Player, and Rookie of the Year award selection logic.
- Fixed an issue where the player ages in historic draft classes would display as invalid numbers.
- Team Card menu informational pages previously missing in the MyLEAGUE Online experience has been added.
- To add to the intrigue, you will no longer be able to sort by overall rating during the Pre-Draft Workouts and Rookie Draft time periods.
- All-Star Weekend events are now properly scheduled when starting a new Start Today mode.
- The results of League Meeting voting can now be reviewed upon completion in MyLEAGUE Online.
- Addressed a case where cut/waived players weren’t properly counting against the cap in MyLEAGUE Online.
- Fixed a hang that would occur when the number of players required to be selected during the All-Star Draft was changed to 13 via a rule change.
- Fixed an issue in MyLEAGUE Online where the finals of the Draft Lottery tournament would sometime get scheduled in the past.
- Addressed a hang that could occur when attempting to review the Expansion Draft/Player Protection results after either event is complete.
Many other small bug fixes and adjustments were also made, game-wide.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves.

BM is saying just about every mode has been addressed.
I hate the fact that the data and stats in MyLeague is jacked up. KD leaves GS guaranteed, KD stats are completely wrong when he leaves and they give him Tobias Harris stats and have his stats from LAC. Everyone stats is messed up. The franchise mode is extremely buggy. More so than years past but the GLeague progression has been the same and hasn't changed
As for gameplay, they need to make it easier to dribble drive. It's damn near impossible like its 2k3 all over again

Maybe you’re joking but expecting to shoot 75% from 3pt sounds bizarre. Shooting 50% would be record breaking in real life. But outside of face scans, theres nothing “real” in 2K.
I wish I could say that I’m fine with 75% against the CPU, but since you earn more xp for badges during NBA games, this magnifies the problem. I bet every NBA GM would kill to have a guy that shoots 75% from deep, but in 2K world, these guys are a dime a dozen.
This coming from a guy who is positive and only plays with randoms so there’s no saltiness and I’m not ‘bad’ at the game. Online gameplay should be more than zig zag behind screens/inbounds and hitting contested half court 3pts.
Sadly a patch cannot fix the issues this game has.

Simulation? If you watch real basketball how can you call this a simulation? Defense, movement and shot distribution are not replicated well at all. Rebounding numbers are all messed up, with bigs getting 20 rebounds every night and guards getting 0. And I don't even want to talk about steals and spacing. Not every NBA team plays uptempo and most of them take 30-35 3s each night, instead in this game every team tries to get in the paint with a passion.
You can say you enjoy the game and I can't disagree, you can say that by tweaking the roster and the sliders the game becomes more realistic and this is 100%. But right out of the box calling this a good simulation? Hell no. Not even close.
Other than that hopefully each mode would get their technical fixes without breaking any other thing.

It's far from it! This is the least sim game 2K has ever produced.
I play offline only since they removed Allstar teamup, the CPU utilizes cheat tactics to win.

As for online, PNO needs a lot of attention. From shooting sliders to reaching, there's some stuff that needs addressing.

They could've done this daily spin thing on your in-game phone. It's a waste of time going into a building, waiting in-line to do the spin, and going out of the building. And the moment you get out of the bulding, I notice that you're on a different server.
Personally, I’m worried about the return of ‘Light/Heavy Contests because I’m within 10 feet of the shooter without having my hands up and not even attempting to contest’ defense.

It's just not consistent enough--especially online. Offline, I don't have this issue.
My main issue on shot contest is the responsiveness online. More often than not, my player doesn't do anything when I pull the right stick up. Never had this issue offline.

I doubt that's going to the be the case unless they patched in Block/Charge Fouls and fixed the Kicked Ball calls to trigger on all lower leg contact with the ball. You could run behind or to the ball side of any active ball handler and force a lost ball steal if you timed it right before this patch. We'll see if that's what they fixed or whether they just lowered the steal success rate.

Ehh. I wouldn’t put it past these patches and updates. When something like this is changed it’s usually to the extreme it seems. Hoping we do not have to deal w/ “dribble gods” while we just have to sit and look at them like the past few years.

Couple of annoying bugs that I know of ....
1. Hiring Coaches in offseason (with 30 team control on), the "sign/don't sign" status changes to whatever the AI decides when you switch teams. Annoying to deal with, though the CPU will just hire terrible temp guys to fill in for 1yr and you can fire all those guys ASAP once you reach the training camp phase or the actual start of the next season.
2. Rebranding of uniforms works, but uploading it to the server only gets you the home/away uniforms -- the alt doesn't upload for many users (though if you go back in and out of ML, there are reports it'll eventually load). Even if you get the alt to load to the server, it may not download into the alt slot (thusly not replacing the statement uniforms) or it may be glitched when it downloads (making the alt jersey look like your design got barfed on there).
3. Contract extensions for rookies doesn't work in the regular season -- even if the rookie has the appropriate years (4), the game will not let you extend that rookie and will display a message that the number of years (4) isn't long enough as the minimum years must be (4). Annoying to have watch all the rookies go into RFA and deal with them there, when you could have gotten a better deal in the extension process.
Those are the three bugs that are on the forefront of my mind, but there are more -- the mode isn't unplayable (in my second offseason right now), but definitely could have used a few more passovers in QA to weed out some of these issues.
Again, haven't played post-this patch.
Did you restart the game or your console after you downloaded the patch, I have noticed the game never plays right going with in after downloading a patch.

I know most wont care, but this is something some of us have asked for for years. I remember playing with a 1988 created roster on 2K9 and thinking, “man this is great, but these present day shorts are killing the immersion.”

Steals: I don’t think anyone needs to be worried about balls going through you as that’s definitely not the case. I still saw plenty of steals but I did feel like there was less superhero steals in the passing lanes with guys lunging 10 feet to snag. It’s only 2 games though so that might have just been placebo.
Shooting: Didn’t seem much different. Open shots from shooters were pretty much automatic. It did feel like most contested ones missed.
Inside Scoring: Standing layups are still crappy from what I observed. Maybe I got some better animations on cuts but that might have just been luck with a small sample size.
This one didn’t feel great but the game read it as open. I guess because hands were down.
Was good while it lasted. Guess we’re back to allowing stupid bail out passes to just fly around the court again. *♂️

I agree with the sentiment, but the scouting reports are way too basic and barebones to be able to justify that restriction. The scouting reports don't tell you enough unique information about the player for there to be intrigue.

now we're back to bad passes not being penalized. i noticed about earlier this week that onball steals we're tuned, you really dont have to use L2 anymore and there were more foul calls when attempting to steal the ball.
there are real issues, game breaking issues like open 3pt %'s and all they did there was buff shot contests which is nothing but a band-aid. all the while award people for bad passes and dribbling in front of people face up.

Actually, they made it easier to play defense with good defenders in one on one situations, per se, while preventing steal spamming in general. HOWEVER, making it easier to play defense is IRRELEVANT if Sharps and Stretch 4's can still splash 3's in your face at a godly. All they did was make it so that those player types can still shoot above 60+%, BUT they won't have 3-7 steals on top of their 50+ points.

But 2k will cater to the people complaining the whole fcking time. Game will become easy again, passes won't be getting stolen, passes will always be successful, but the people will find something else to complain and so on until 2k20 release, rinse and repeat.
I myself, can be now called a old school gamer, been playing basketball games since 2002, 2k since 2k9, and never really got into online playing, I love it from time to time, but my bread and butter is playing against the CPU. If 2k makes a game with a good CPU, I am happy, that's pretty much all I need. I see people complaining about art updates. I mean, yeah, Covington's hairstyle is from like 3 years ago, maybe 2k waits that he starts wearing it again. There are other players/things as well, but guess what, I live with it, I don't spam twitter, OS, reddit etc. with shouting FIX the damn whatever it is. The whole community need to chill.

Lol except passing lanes steals are still there and strong. Why do you believe there’s only 2 options? Everything goes through people or everyone is running around like linebackers? I’m pretty sure there’s a reasonable middle ground out there.

Offline guys just imagine playing Spurs vs raptors but Kawhi has on a San Antonio jersey the whole game lol .
Some of you need to find some other games to fill some of your time so you won't be nitpicking this thing to death.

Updated list of things that STILL weren't fixed from this last patch....
-No fix for extension eligibility for 1st round picks (guys would have an original contract length of 4 years yet a pop up would say that they ineligible due to having less than 4 years) - also affects ML offline
-No fix for RFAs not signing with you even after matching their offer sheet.
-Games are still disconnecting, just not due to the timeout timer running out
-Game results sometimes still won't register, even if it shows up initially, when returning to the league you may see a different score and result
-No fix for age bug in custom draft classes. Prospects being anywhere from -2078 to 15 years old. They only mentioned historic draft classes
-Game still bricks when there's an injury and users are unable to continue the game
-Injuries still occur even with injuries set to off (lmao)
-30 user MLO draft is undoable from what I've experienced. Game doesn't recognize other users readying up. Freezes at start, need to leave and come back. Game will sometimes change users picks. Or if that's not enough, it may just instantly auto draft the entire draft even with users present.
Thats all if you can even pick a team and enter the lobby
-Unable to negotiate with or sign guys via extension in MLO
-Can't boot users (cmon bro)
-Users are sometimes unable to advance to the offseason in MLO
Yeah one was online only but exactly when do they have time to make a perfect game in an 8 month cycle?

If you're going to play randoms online you'll always have to deal with some type of cheating.
I dont care what genre of games you play, they cheat in all of them if they can, and game companies dont have enough time to keep up with how many exploits they spend countless hours on to find.
When they do fix one thing the cheesers will find another one for you to complain about.
If you're going to play online you need to accept the good with the bad because its not going anywhere thanks to your fellow online gamers who probably suck at organized basketball
Now, i just have to tweak the sliders a bit just to lower the score a bit in a 12min/qtr game.

Some of you need to find some other games to fill some of your time so you won't be nitpicking this thing to death.
2K releasing the game 5 weeks before the season isn’t really on the consumer though. 10 percent of the play cycle is already gone. If they fix, let’s say, inside scoring in another 5 weeks, that’s 20% of the cycle gone assuming I play the entire year. For an annual sports game, that’s not great.

I was still getting ripped by players with no pick pocket and low stealing when they only reach once.
I honestly didn't notice much difference in the patch.... just the shot clock changing to 14 for the offensive rebounds.
I tried everything pre-patch nothing worked in the rec to stop this .
But it will cause people to complain about the pre-patch situation like it is the current causing for further changes.
I just hope the gameplay(whether I suck or not) makes sense.

That kinda defeats the purpose of HOF ....
if you want an easier HOF play on superstar.
Now I know HOF is a ridiculous difficulty but it’s just sliders. Your success sliders are turned down and the AI’s is turned up.
You can change the shooting sliders yourself. It just changes the difficulty from HOF to custom

Updated list of things that STILL weren't fixed from this last patch....
-No fix for extension eligibility for 1st round picks (guys would have an original contract length of 4 years yet a pop up would say that they ineligible due to having less than 4 years) - also affects ML offline
-No fix for RFAs not signing with you even after matching their offer sheet.
-Games are still disconnecting, just not due to the timeout timer running out
-Game results sometimes still won't register, even if it shows up initially, when returning to the league you may see a different score and result
-No fix for age bug in custom draft classes. Prospects being anywhere from -2078 to 15 years old. They only mentioned historic draft classes
-Game still bricks when there's an injury and users are unable to continue the game
-Injuries still occur even with injuries set to off (lmao)
-30 user MLO draft is undoable from what I've experienced. Game doesn't recognize other users readying up. Freezes at start, need to leave and come back. Game will sometimes change users picks. Or if that's not enough, it may just instantly auto draft the entire draft even with users present.
Thats all if you can even pick a team and enter the lobby
-Unable to negotiate with or sign guys via extension in MLO
-Can't boot users (cmon bro)
-Users are sometimes unable to advance to the offseason in MLO

I’m convinced that this isn’t my year for the inside game so I’m working with the stretch 4 now lol . It’s so efficient .
That’s a huge win . Those were really my only turnovers .
That is not always the case, there are people looking for ways to break and exploit every game, so this is not just a 2K thing, Live is on patch 8, Spiderman I believe is on 4 or 5, god of war had a bunch as well.

Updated jumbotrons in both the Thunder and Trail Blazers arenas to match the real-world changes made there.
Nike athletes will now wear the official NBA arm sleeve containing Nike Swoosh and NBA logo. Non-branded arm sleeve is still present for non-Nike athletes.
Users can now set a ‘Preferred Shorts Length’ in the Gear/Shoes category when creating a player. The shorts length will then be applied when applicable.
Gameplay
Implemented the newly approved NBA rule that resets the shot clock to 14 seconds following offensive rebounds.
Reduced the effectiveness of on-ball steals, especially for low rated defenders by implementing the following: increased foul chances for body-to-body contact, increased ball security after rebounds when both hands are on the ball, introduced a cooldown when attempting too many steal attempts in a short amount of time, more mistargeted steal attempts for poorly rated players.
Fixed a soft hang where an inbounder would get stuck in an off-ball deny animation, preventing him from being able to check the ball.
Reduced injury wear and frequency for long quarter length games.
Fixed a case where the ball handler would sometimes get stuck in a double team animation after he had lost the ball.
Fixed an issue that was preventing up and under layups from playing properly under the basket.
Changed the color of the Takeover rebounding reticle for Glass Cleaners to make it easier to see against darker court floors.
Slight reduction in the effectiveness of pass lane steals that are not manually triggered.
Adjusted shot contest animations to make them more responsive against perimeter jump shots.
Adjusted the key zoom camera settings for 2K Low and updated some Broadcast camera angles to more accurately reflect their real-life camera locations.
Changed the logic for the Defensive Stopper badge to apply against opponents 1 position away from the defender’s natural position or when matched up with someone within a 3-inch height difference.
Shortened several pass flinch reaction animations to improve responsiveness.
Bench actors will no longer twitch badly when an injured player is helped off the court.
Fixed some artificial speedups and reduced clipping by defenders when transitioning into hip rides.
Reduced the frequency of defenders bodying up ball handlers into back court violations.
Reduced clipping that could sometimes happen when two players were fighting for rebounds.
Increased the speed at which a defender can move while in hands-up.
MyCAREER
The Gatorade Reaction Drill will now provide badge points upon completion.
Addressed a case where the user would encounter a visual issue where an endorsement check appeared blank (even though the funds were properly added to the account).
The Dunk Contest ‘voting race’ will no longer appear during in-game presentation after the All-Star break.
Your MyPLAYER will now represent the proper team in the Rising Stars Challenge (Team USA or Team World) during All-Star Weekend.
Players who are 6’7 will now have their proper Lateral Quickness attribute.
Fixed an issue where the rotation would rebuild when the user attempted to adjust their own minutes (once this perk is unlocked).
Fixed a case where the All-Star Captain story scene would hang when both captains shared the same first name.
Neighborhood
The Daily Spin prize wheel experience has been improved in the Ante-Up environment. There is now a second exterior door that leads you to a room with a number of prize wheels. This will enable you to more quickly get your free rewards each day.
Users are now able to place text/logos on the sleeves of hoodies/t-shirts when creating Crew uniforms.
Users can now view how much VC has been earned next to the spinning VC coin icon in the lower-left hand corner of the screen (e.g. when you score in Red Ball Blue Ball; when you knock out an opponent in Dodgeball, etc.)
Improved visual fidelity with the Neighborhood football.
Fixed an inbounding exploit that could be used during competitive games in the Neighborhood.
The Trivia app is now usable inside your MyCOURT.
Addressed a case where a player could turn themselves invisible by equipping a select compression shirt.

Season rankings for Pro-Am/Crews will now appear correctly upon entering the menu.
MyTEAM
Simplified the goals for unlocking the Auction House such that users now need to only participate in a Triple Threat Online and Unlimited game rather than win one of each.
Added the ability to clear the notification flags from inside the Collections menu.
A Dynamic Duo overlay has been added to the pack reveal flow, in order to make you aware of Duo combos as you receive the cards.
Updated overall rating formula when viewing team lineups.
Corrected a display issue where a player’s attributes were not shown as boosted when properly Duo’d with his duo partner.
Dynamic Duo icons will now visually animate when placed in the same Triple Threat lineup.
Simulated stats will no longer count as accumulated stats for cards when playing challenges.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
Added the ability for users to override who the game has selected to be an All-Star with selections of their own.
Improvement to the MVP, Most Improved Player, and Rookie of the Year award selection
logic.
Fixed an issue where the player ages in historic draft classes would display as invalid numbers.
Team Card menu informational pages previously missing in the MyLEAGUE Online experience have been added.

The results of League Meeting voting can now be reviewed upon completion in MyLEAGUE Online.

Fixed a hang that would occur when the number of players required to be selected during the All-Star Draft was changed to 13 via a rule change.

Another change that is confirmed for the gameplay will make it tougher now to get steals after installing this new patch.

I’m still missing a lot of “late open” standing layups after 4 games. I hope I start noticing an improvement. I was never able to figure out your early release magic. I only ever do it by accident. I think the online latency throws me off.

I have a lock down first shot creating second with a 64 3 ball and I led the league in shooting at 64%. I also broke the record for most 3’s in a season.
If I can do that with what I have, what can a pure sharp do?

Then again these guys weren't 90's and mostly high 80's. I'm just happy that I freaking finally hit 50 wins...now I have a record of 50-90 something lol
Going to try rec later and see how that goes...
Now for OFFLINE...the cpu still likes to force drive and do a dinky layup in your face...I really wish the tendencies get a nice overhaul when the season starts. I don't think its a patch issue with the CPU but a roster one...

It was a totally open layup from 3 feet from the hoop.... even the shot feedback agrees.
That wasn’t a hop step either. My guy just shoved him off as part of the layup animation.
But 2k will cater to the people complaining the whole fcking time. Game will become easy again, passes won't be getting stolen, passes will always be successful, but the people will find something else to complain and so on until 2k20 release, rinse and repeat.
I myself, can be now called a old school gamer, been playing basketball games since 2002, 2k since 2k9, and never really got into online playing, I love it from time to time, but my bread and butter is playing against the CPU. If 2k makes a game with a good CPU, I am happy, that's pretty much all I need. I see people complaining about art updates. I mean, yeah, Covington's hairstyle is from like 3 years ago, maybe 2k waits that he starts wearing it again. There are other players/things as well, but guess what, I live with it, I don't spam twitter, OS, reddit etc. with shouting FIX the damn whatever it is. The whole community need to chill.
The guy here crying about he was losing on all star and how he will stop playing the game. Maybe get fcking better.
The majority of people complaining about passing lane steals aren't talking about the CPU.. they are talking about users being able to hit X which turns them into a MLB/FS on all madden getting a ridiculous speed boost to the ball.
