  1. First! Lol. Nvmd. I wasn’t first.
But...They really making a lot of money off VC lol.
Side note. Speed With Ball & Speed look like it’s tied to the same rating this year smh. GG
    Jesus christ another forced storyline.
Cool that the G-League is incorporated, and some overseas ball but that's about it. Corny characters, cringy jokes... these guys never learn.
Too early to tell, but I really hope it's not a longshot/journey/spike lee joint, where we're just watching a series of cutscenes happen.
I will say from the different venues and scenario's in the trailer that it definitely shows the most promise since 15. Fingers crossed.
The fact that we’re forced to use a nickname is one thing, but why the hell would they force us to go by the name of an NBA legend? Makes no sense. Total immersion killer
Actually looks pretty nice, the Chinese bit was cool and the G-League is back.
Don't see a forced gimmick yet and the cutscene locations look more diverse. The barn 1 on 1 and the player creation(?) seem cool as well.
Just hope the story doesn't drag out.
Are the skin textures getting worse? Players seem to look extremely anime-like rather than life like. Seeing some screenshots for the other game, and just the details in characters from other games in general it seems like 2k is extremely lacking in that area. And arguably have gotten worse since their initial next gen title.
Meh on the story. But some things did intrigue me. Especially the player creation chart. Looks like speed and speed with ball are combined, and possibly not tied to ball control. Rebound stats are combined, but there's a boxout stat indicator there. Contact dunk is it's own category.
Also, this presentation is interesting. Can't tell if these will be pre-populated based on height+ build, or if we have some modicom of control over them.
Looks like they're forcing situations on us again too, coach screaming at you with 4 seconds left. You have to hit the game winner etc.

Why can't I just make an ordinary player, play in college, get drafted into the NBA and if I'm not good enough, play in the G-League.
What is with all this forced bullcrap just for storyline sake.... my god this actually a joke.

if it's in prelude, that's fine. They've been pretty good as not forcing situations on you after career actually starts rolling (in 2K16 you had the scripted first season, which was a little bit of a low, but they set you free afterwards).
Eh I played longshot for last years madden and this trailer is giving me those vibes. I hate these forced story lines but I'm fine with it if you can skip the cut scenes.

Just dragging this out as usual. I need a Da Czar gameplay breakdown at least. Once the copies leak we will start getting tons of info from them to beat the community at telling us about the game.

Yes, but the G-League is looking forced too. What if I just want to play in the NBA as a top pick? Everything is just so forced, zero freedom at all from the looks of things.

Yup. Leaks need to hurry lol. This info isn't cutting it.
The G-League is worthless to the rest of the game if we can't play as those teams in MyLeage or MyGM. Otherwise, we have the logos and jerseys locked behind a game mode that probably only uses them for a short period of gameplay.
It looks they went HEAVY on the storyline. It looks like it will either take a while just to get to NBA or it will be very short and only last until you get to NBA. But it doesnt seem like a cheesy pointless story like last year. So, I'm not going to complain until I see it for myself.
But the G-League and CBA is a nice touch. That way when they start the player out at 60 OVR, it'll make sense.
Don't like that they still combine ratings. Off/Def shouldn't be combined. Open/Contested shots surely shouldn't be combined. It seems like again that your player has to improve his athleticism just so he isn't slow as a center. Hopefully those aren't all the ratings. If so, it seems like we can't improve On Ball D until we get the badges. I dont see why having a LDD primary and you can't improve On Ball D until you earn the badges. Which makes it harder because you have to improve the athletic ratings first

I wish there was an option to either do the story mode or skip the story entirely and jump right into the traditional my player/my career mode, assuming that's still in. I skipped My Career the last two years but in 2k16 once you got through the Spike Lee story, which was just the first season, it turned into the traditional mode which I found much more enjoyable. Hopefully, at worst, it's the same except with the option to skip cutscenes.
You guys think there's any chance we get to choose our nickname? Maybe we'll be referred to as our first two initials and not forced into being "A.I". (I know this is wishful thinking).
I want to hate it because I typically hate these but this seems like a pretty fun story. I'm sure I'll attempt to play it for a few hours, get bored and never touch it again but it's the first story I actually enjoy and am interested in trying to play out.
On a personal level, I'm more hyped about this storyline than any previous 2K experiences. I could see myself playing this through completion like I did with the Spike Lee joint. Drama, no cheesy dialogues, no racial stereotype bs, and different venues.

Man, you know the answer to this. Of course youll be forced into their lame nicknames. The best will be that no matter what you name your character it'll somehow be AI.

I think its more a story inspired by Andre Ingram and that AI is a generic nickname.
Hopefully we'll get to choose our own.
If not, their whole "they will know your name" motto is baseless and dumb.
Storyline looks WAAAAY better than last year....that's all I got, wasn't "expecting" anything more as far as a MC trailer goes

Seems significantly less cheesy than last year. More "Longshot"-ish with the tone.

That's what's hooked me initially. It doesn't seem corny at all which is a huge upgrade over what we've had the last few years.
I had pretty low expectations coming into this, but this looks pretty good. My only hope was that they would shift the tone and make it not as cheesy as last year's and it seems like they achieved that.
On a side note, I think it'd be pretty cool if they included like a story-less MyCareer mode where it's just you playing games.
Since the tagline is "They will know your name", this might be the first year where we can actually use our real name in all the cutscenes. Like previously commented, I hate that 2ksports give us a name to use throughout the my career mode. Do you know how much I hated being called DJ throughout the game????
    A.I.??? Come on, son!

Agree with that. They're clearly focused on delivering a cinematic type of story and this looks like they're most interesting attempt thus far. Might give it a try eventually but still not a must play mode for me. Wonder if the story is predetermined or if we have some freedom to make decisions and change the way to story plays out. That would get me more interested.
I don’t mind the cutscenes but I do when you’re trying to make a new player. I think 2K should make you watch on your first player but after that, you should be able to skip.

I'm already wanting to shut that dude up talking about "It'll never be my team."...jigga what? We going to see who's team this is.
After watching the trailer a couple of times, it looks like 2K sports is going the opposite direction with the hype of your player. In previous games, you was this super talent coming out of high school and college. In this version, you have people telling you that you ain't crap, and you can't never make it to the NBA unless you change your attitude. This storyline seems a lot more combative to solicit a different emotional response.
The most consistent complaint about My Career was how your overall rating was so low to start, but you was expected be this Superstar talent going to the NBA. Welp, they listened to the community. Basically, your overall going to start low because you're a nobody.
I love single player story mode games like The Last of Us and God of War, but MyCareer has always been a bait and switch where the "story" is a coat of paint on a game mode designed to grind you into VC spending submission as a price to pay for having a player you can use to compete with online.
I don't see how this can really be any different this year, since the structure of how this story feature is deployed within 2k's revenue strategy remains the same. That won't change, as 2k has zero interest in marketing or promoting CPU AI heavy single player type gaming experiences like MyGM/MyLeague. No blogs from OG or Czar this year tells you all you need to know. It's just not in the business plan.
As much as I am displeased being AI when my name is Michael....I will say from the video it makes more sense of a story this year because last year you just randomly played in some basketball game and got picked up lol this year it seems you have to work
Being called A.I. would be annoying, but all things considered, I think it looks great. They hired real actors and shifted the tone to be much more serious than 2k18. I hope for all the people that do not want a story, they can skip cutscenes but I am looking forward to giving it a shot.
    Daddy123
2K fans - We are tired of annoying characters!!!
2K - Lets add Michael Rappaport
Hey...he played the shiesty manager from the New Edition movie on BET. His presence has a different feeling for me . I already feel like I can't trust him.
how can a game so good be so badly marketed?
never was a fan of the marketing for this game ...i mean i dont do mycarreer but geesh these guys could have at least show things you guys actually care about like customizations courts CAP and such....instead they showed a story about a guy name AI and linear situational down one with seconds left situation.......wow
i just pray for u guys that u get what u want to skip the cutscenes and for VC to be tamed...
I still think 2K should transition more towards what MLB The Show has done where it's mostly text-based with a little narration thrown in. I hate the fact that we're forced to have these fake teammates like Shammy and Justice; going to a rebuilding team in 17 didn't actually feel like a rebuild because Justice Young was so damn good. I just want to play with the real NBA players and a transition to a text-based mode would eliminate the need for these actors to be added as teammates.

I love a good single player, story focused game I just don't need it in my sports games. I wonder what the demand is for story modes in sports games. Do people really want a single player, cinematic story driven mode or would they be just as happy, if not more happy, with the old traditional my player/my career where you start in high school/college, get drafted (or go undrafted), and make your way through the league building your legacy.

I wish people would judge this trailer based on what they saw, and not what they didn't get to find out.

Folks already mad about things they don’t even know about.
I need to know how this story line works and if we get a branching narrative of choices on who we get to associate with because after dealing with B-Fresh last year, I flat out refuse to play through a mode that makes me interact with Michael Rappaport.
That aside, it still looks very heavy handed. Why on earth would we be called A.I.? Hopefully that's customizable because it makes zero sense to steal an established HOF player's nickname, but it makes even less sense in a game whose tagline is #TheyWillKnowYourName
I'm really excited for the D-League/Chinese League integration, I just hope it's not some glanced over segment where we play a few games with scripted outcomes. That would really be a letdown.
Speculation: This seems like it's getting further and further away from what people actually want in a sports career mode. Just like Madden's Longshot. Nobody wants to be bogged down by celebrity cameos or cut scenes to sell me cereal and chips. We just want to start off as a prospect and work our way to the league and enjoy the payoffs of a reasonable grind. The neighborhood is cool, but it feels like these story lines are getting more and more contrived. I wonder if they'll ever split the mode from the story like MyGM so I can just play through it similar to how 2k10 was.

The latter for me; They could always inject story into that. I guess with a game that comes out yearly though, it could get repetitive.

I don't think people are mad because of what they dont know...I think they're mad because they feel 2k doesn't listen to the fans and for 69.99 or 99.99 they should listen a lil more
me personally I'ma wait and see type of guy and I enjoy MyPlayer but the preset nickname and the increasing amounts of VC you have to spend yearly does bother me a bit.

If the storyline is well written, I can play any single player mode in any genre. Personally, I don't want the cliche high School, college, draft, and play a bunch of NBA games gameplay. That's boring to me.

They really should poll fans to see if fans actually want these story driven modes because they could save a lot of time and money by focusing on a traditional my player/my career type mode. Just looking at this thread alone it doesn't seem like anyone is anxious to play the mode. I could be completely wrong but I don't think 2k would be losing fans or see a drop in sales if the story driven focus of my career was removed.
Cutscenes really need be skippable. On a whim one night, I wanted to start a new MyPlayer (my original character got hit with the glitch shortly after the release and I abandoned the mode)... basically it was almost two hours of unskippable cringeworthy cutscenes I had already seen before I could get to play a game in Park mode
2K could learn from Madden in one aspect... respecting the players time.
Madden lets you breeze through games, whether its the intro/end of plays/timeouts/quarters/game. The amount of button presses you need to get through all that bs in 2K is unreal/unnecessary.
People has been complaining about scripted stories not original!  Yes, in the earlier version but this is something that "possibility" is happening to guys who don't get drafted and force to play overseas in another country.  Props to 2K to give us the other side of the coin.
I won’t comment on the AI nickname until we get news. History tells us that our name will be forced and it will be AI.
BUT seeing as there’s an NBA legend that goes by AI already. What if AI is just the place holder as in “Artificial Intelligence” and we can actually change that?
    Probably wishful thinking tho lol.
If it is a premade name it’s gonna suck. I don’t understand why they just can’t use generic nouns like dude, man, bro instead of an actual name. But whatever.
Here’s to hoping AI is a place holder. Whatever the case may be. Hopefully we can still earn badges in the Park. But knowing 2K they’ll probably take that out because that’s just what they do when they have a good thing lol

    Jesus christ another forced storyline.
Cool that the G-League is incorporated, and some overseas ball but that's about it. Corny characters, cringy jokes... these guys never learn.
Looks like they at least went out and got people who can act. MBJ was really good when he was casted as Justice. That leaves me with some optimism for it to be tolerable.
I'll say this again. EA have actually done story modes in sports games correctly by making them short tight narratives that are more like interactive movies in conjunction with a mode that gives you total freedom like Fight Night and FIFA.
2k are trying to give the players freedom to design their character and traits and play as many games as they want all while going through a forced narrative that randomly shows up every few milestones, time or certain number of games. It's so messy and awkward.
If 2k are so insistent on putting a story in every game going forward then have MyCareer be a completely linear experience that lasts a dozen or so hours and then have MyPlayer be the traditional experience from last gen we all know and love.
I will say that the writing and cinematography from the trailer looks much, much better than years past but we're still being served the same dish with slightly different ingredients.

For example, no one noticed how you can adjust the sliders on your character where you can select if you prefer to hit more open shots or contested shots.

I dont thinkt thats a sliders menu its more like you can select the height of your player and this bars shows you what will be inscreased or decreased based on what height you choose.
    ksuttonjr76
For example, no one noticed how you can adjust the sliders on your character where you can select if you prefer to hit more open shots or contested shots.

How you figure that you can adjust those sliders? And it just not another UI for the "cap breakers"
Like everyone, I'd love to have a career mode where I have the freedom offline to create the player I want skill wise, choose his path whether it be undrafted longshot or top pick, and keep the skill caps and restrictions for a separate online park/neighborhood mode.
However honestly, we all just need to accept that this is the way theyre going. What I do like is that the story has a much more serious tone than the last two but not overly dramatic. It seems like a good basketball story, and that's what it should be. As much as I hate being restricted to only being good at 2 things, at least the story fits and doesnt pretend Im the next LeBron.
Ive only played one MyCareer since it became a thing in 2k, this might be the 2nd. At least for the story because my hopes arent that high that the MyCareer gameplay will be any better than its been.
    ksuttonjr76
For example, no one noticed how you can adjust the sliders on your character where you can select if you prefer to hit more open shots or contested shots.

I don't think that's what's going on there. I think that's basically just the same ratings screen we had last year when we chose our archetype and whatnot. It seems that they've simply made it so your contested/open shooting attributes will be identical.
I highly doubt that they're forcing you to move a slider to determine if you want to be able to rebound on the offensive end or the defensive end and the idea that they're sliders doesn't really make sense for any of the other ratings besides the couple that have multiple ratings within them.
Edit: See this tweet. This is all I think it is personally.

I gotcha. I just wonder if they were to scrap the story mode in the future and just do traditional my career would it be missed? To me it's a cool option, the more modes and options the better, but it's not must play and if it was removed it wouldn't bother me one bit. There are plenty of games each year that scratch that "single player story" itch. It just seems like a lot of time and money to commit to a mode (the story portion of my career that is)) that might not appeal to a large portion of the audience

That's a plus then. This is pure speculation obviously, but that would mean based on your build that your ability to hit contested or open shots will increase or decrease dramatically.

How you figure that you can adjust those sliders? And it just not another UI for the "cap breakers"
There's a slider tab above the attributes. I'm surprised the art people didn't see it. Plus, it just seems odd that the open and contested attribute would be the same line.

Anything is better than 2K18's story. At least there's some real narrative. I'll be interested in seeing it first time around. Hopefully they're skippable on replay.
Don't like the fact that I didn't see free throw on that trait chart. The mechanics to increase free throw shooting in the last two games have been dumb (especially 2k17). Hopefully, it's something better than get fouled a bunch in-game/work on it at practice (which takes away my ability to work on other badges).
    ksuttonjr76

To me, it seems like those earlier rumors about how we build may be true.
If I recall, there was speculation that you'll attributes caps are pre-determined up to a certain rating (80?). After that, you get more freedom to place your points where you want them.
That would make sense given that screen.
I'm excited that the G-league and Chinese teams are in. But I am kinda disappointed that it looks like we're going to be forced to go that route. I'm excited that it's in but our play during the pre draft stuff should determine if we get drafted or not. Not the story.
Also what happens if you buy a lot of VC during the story and max out your player? Will you get called up immediately?

Yep, looks like A.I it is.

I think that carnival looking place, the barn, and cornfield are the new neighborhood. They could be changing it from an urban neighborhood to a more rural looking one.

It doesn’t make sense to combine attributes.
If they want player diversity, they have to stop pooling attributes together.
    I hate it.
On a side note, 2k is, IMO, doing the worse job they have ever done at getting people hyped up for the game.
    I am underwhelmed at best!

Honestly why does 2k still make these cheesy storylines. Instead of making cinematic cutscenes, give the the chance to play three or four college games, maybe go to the draft combine, and then if you get drafted, great. If not, then you go overseas or you play on the g league, if you play overseas you make a lot more VC for your my player but will have less exposure and less options when joining a Nba team. If you choose the g league, you’ll make much less VC but youll upgrade badges a bit faster and you’ll have more exposure to NBA scouts so you’ll be able to have more NBA teams offering you a chance. These cutscenes are useless, especially since they always have a dumb nickname for us, and our MyPlayer looks the same height even if we’re 5”6 or 7”3

Yep, looks like A.I it is.

Actually, there's a possibility that we might be able to change it. It's just a sticker on that sign being held by the driver.

Small observations. Hopefully you'll have your true height in the cutscenes, and I like this voice so much better. DJ's voice was so annoying sounding.
Yeah it bugged the hell out of me looking up at someone when I'm supposed to be 7'3. Last year was just straight up sloppy...

I haven't watched the video. I wanted to read the comments first and when I saw this I came to a complete stop.
My god. Please tell me you are joking. PLEASE TELL ME THAT IDIOT ISN'T IN THIS

Story appears much more fleshed out and mature compared to 2k18 so that's a plus.

About to watch this but if this story has Michael Rappaport, then this isn't possible
Anyways, the forced story was never my thing. I just hope the cut scenes are skippable.
As for Rappaport, his first cameo made me think "Well maybe it's not so bad if he's not acting like Rappaport" and the second one sounded much more like him. ugh lol

That's a plus then. This is pure speculation obviously, but that would mean based on your build that your ability to hit contested or open shots will increase or decrease dramatically.

Or what Brian Mazique said in his video. Where it might look like you have to do drills to determine out how you start.
I just want to be able to have a say how I start outside of archetype. I don't like starting with piss-poor athleticism. No better gets substantially better at athleticism coming into league, especially when our weight and build is locked. I just want to be able to start out with Average/ Above Average athleticism and one good skill, so I have something to start out with and a lot to work on

Yeah it bugged the hell out of me looking up at someone when I'm supposed to be 7'3. Last year was just straight up sloppy...

It doesn’t make sense to combine attributes.
If they want player diversity, they have to stop pooling attributes together.
    I hate it.
On a side note, 2k is, IMO, doing the worse job they have ever done at getting people hyped up for the game.
    I am underwhelmed at best!

I think it's better to combine attributes, because it'll force more defined strengths and weaknesses. Also, it'll create more diversity, because players will have to give more thought to their attributes and play style.
Let's pick on the Sharpshooters with the open versus contested shots. You can choose whether it's a even blend, lean towards more contested shots, and lean towards more open shot.
If you like open shots, that would mean you'll have to be open to hit your shots at a high rate. The player would have to utilize off ball screens and spot up to be effective. As result, you mainly get gold badges like corner specialist and catch/shoot then bronze on deadeye. I could see them getting higher dribbling animating to help create some separation.
If you like contested shots, that would mean that you could hit contested shots at a high rate and gold badges in deadeye then bronze in the other badges. The advantage would be that you could a bailout ticket for late shot clock possessions or a possible shooting a game winning shot. Also, you're not as impacted by defensive builds.
Obviously, I'm making stuff up, but I could see how it could create more diversity.
Passing on this forced storyline stuff and will continue to do so until MyCareer is more like The Show with more choices and less story.
Still extremely excited for the new MyLeague stuff. That’s my main mode anyway
One thing I hope returned, but really doubt it, is the ability to start with custom rosters. I think it was in last gen before we had story lines. Last few years, I waited until at least opening day or way later, because I wanted up to date rosters. But I recalls don't like playing with 2k rosters. They have a tendency to overrate players. I just want the ability play with more realistic rosters with players with accurate tendency ratings.
But, I severely doubt it. I think they stopped it in current gen because of storylines.
    Thrustie
Someone said it earlier but they probably didn’t combine attributes. It’s just this year’s version of this screen

Nevermind...now that I'm on a computer, I can see that it's not slider tab above the attributes. I was viewing the picture on my phone earlier. My bad.

I think it's because of the storyline that requires NBA players like whatever that DJ stuff with Lillard was about in 2k18 and the forced cameos. With custom rosters theres nothing stopping someone from playing with a historic roster and that would mess up 2K's cheesy story.

Personally I could do without a story. I'd be fine with press conferences and endorsements like we had last gen in 2k11-2k13. Having my player speak was one of the things that made me play my career compared to career modes in other games.
All I really want are multiple voice options.

Thats what I thought. With historic rosters, it would ruin their story having a cut scene with Giannis but he isn't in the roster.
Even with the forced storyline, at least it looks like its basketball focused and not some stupid *** crap that 18's was. I stopped playing MyCareer in 18 30 mins in when you got immediately picked up by whatever team you wanted after playing a 3v3 tournament and you had to watch unskippable cutscenes of your roommate making corny jokes and shoving paid advertisement in your face

Nothing I can say that hasn’t been said already.
I just wish they would take the money they’re spending on real actors and pick up the licensing for a hand full of colleges.
I’m sure they can afford it. The way you get into the league is so convoluted and unrealistic.
You guys don't know squat about the storylines or the choices yet. You may be able to take different paths unlike last year. The cut scenes and storylines are a nice welcome. G league is back, another nice welcome.
Stop assuming everything is forced down your throat.

In 2k18 We had to sit there for over a minute to watch a B Fresh commercial every time we wanted to just change clothes.
They never let us skip cut scenes.

I'm in the middle when it comes to Career modes. I don't a full cinematic mode like Longsoht, but at the same time I don't want there to only be play games and advance because I would be better off playing Player Lock in MyLeague. I just want the full player experience, depth outside of games, to make choices that will a true cause and effect within mode.
But this looks to be my favorite story. Didn't play 2k14 on next gen. I liked 2k15, but a lot of NBA players were terrible voice actors. I didn't like 2k16. I liked the high school, NCAA part, but I didn't like FoF part. 2k17 wasn't bad, but whole Orange Juice/Fresh Squeeze seemed corny. 2k18 was flat out pointless. The whole DJ part wasn't necessary. The main purpose was to shove advertisements in our face. It seemed like they did all that just to pay for all the voice actors they added this year.
2k19 seems to have a purpose. An overseas player, who doesn't get drafted, have to earn his way in G-League to get called up. Doesn't seem cheesy like previous years. There doesn't seem to be a B Fresh type of character. Since Michael Rapport is a GM in the mode, I don't see him having the persona he is perceived to have. Least isn't a cheesy nickname. But I still don't like A.I. For obvious reasons, but if the theme is "They will know your name", then I want it to be a name I chose. At least give us a choice of nicknames to choose from.
The fact that its 2018 and ppl still have to guess and speculate so much is what makes 2k's marketing so terrible. If u wanna know something u should be able to find it. I personally like to wait and be surprised on some aspects, kind of old school mentality. However, some questions in this thread should have been answered thru marketing weeks ago. That being said, the story does seem to make sense, which is a step in the right direction since we are stuck with this formula moving forward.
Side note: I agree with 24th, I had a chance to meet Rappaport when Big 3 was in Chicago and he's a really nice guy. His acting is hit or miss, and with 2k's sense of humor he probably will end up being worse than B Fresh aka Lil Tasty 🤦🏾*♂️🤦🏾*♂️

On one hand, I like the idea of playing in the G-League and the story mode of MyCareer is essentially the only reason I play that mode.
On the other hand, this looks like it's just a cliche sports story. "Guy works hard and becomes great". It's essentially the basketball version of Rocky. Plus, you're nicknamed A.I.? Might as well just call me "Air Jordan" or "Shaq". Huge swing and a miss there.
I'll definitely give The Prelude a go and see how it is. Unfortunately, 2k is coming out right when Spider-man and the BFV demo are as well, so it might have to be purchased at a later date.

That I agree. Let us skip cut scenes, but that wasn't what everyone is up in arms about. It's about being bottlenecked and forced into a path. People seem to only want to just create their player, go to a college, play in a few games, then play in the NBA and that's it. I mean you could almost do all that with the "Create-a-Player" function. I would honestly rather have the cut scenes and the story. Makes it more immersive.
And people are assuming ALOT of things without a blog released yet or actually playing the game yet.

While I don’t fully agree with you I also don’t fully disagree. However, as I said before, I don’t think it’s an either or thing. I think it’s more likely that they will be tied together, example 85/85, not separate so you can choose one or the other.
So, if you can choose to be better at one than the other, I’m with you, if they are tied together I don’t like it.

I agree. The whole underdog storyline is getting old. A.I is better then Pres, Freq, and DJ, but come on. I understand it will be hard to use a lot of nicknames in voice acting. But there are a lot of other suitable nicknames or initial that would be better.
I agree. I will definitely play Prelude. But theres several other games that is coming out next month. Most likely, I will buy it early especially if I get a trade in deal for NBA 2k17. But most likely won't play until Opening week of NBA anyway. Because so many other games I want to play first
The fact that skipping a damn cutscene was such a big deal and caused so much uproar is just flat out ridiculous. This should have NEVER EVER been a thing...
That works out for everyone. For those who want to see cutscenes, they can. Those who don't want to deal with cutscenes or just play online, they don't have too. And those when they create another player, they don't have to sit through whole thing again.
I can imagine if you have to play the prelude or get through the prelude section, to skip it with your second player. Where I can see a lot of people creating a dummy build, just so they don't have to sit through prelude at all and just create their main build with the 2nd player

I imagine that after we play in G-leauge, we get offered a spot if a team has a open spot. Least that is what I hope. While it was good having a control of where we start. If we are playing in G-League, it'll be more realistic to not chose where we want and have to go to a team that offers us a one year deal.

Good for those who wanted to skip cutscenes. Once again, 2K Sports is showing that they're listening to the community minus the art direction which I think is subjective anyways.
PNO had little news about the online pausing which was good to hear. I just want to hear about the VC model now...
I imagine they’ll just let us pick our team like they did last year. If they’re letting us skip the Prelude, it makes even more sense that you get to pick since it obviously wouldn’t be dictated by your play. I would guess how well you play might effect your minutes when the season starts whereas not playing the Prelude probably gets you a standard 8 or something.
I hope I’m wrong and you’re signed based on your play/position as I find that more random and fun but I suspect that’s not the case.

At this point that’s where I am with it. That A.I. Nickname will forever annoy me if they can’t say anything else but other than that I like this. As long as we can face scan and all that stuff (positive we can) I’m good and as long as there’s a good amount of basketball with these cutscenes.

I don't have that concern. Besides the A.I stuff, I think this will be a good year. This story has a purpose. In last 5 years, once you actually get to NBA, there isn't that many cutscenes. And the story only last for the rookie year. This isn't Longshot, so that is a relief. Creating a mode like Longshot isn't worth it unless you are making it a full game or DLC. It has no replayability because there isn't any deviation from story and not much gameplay.
I just hope they don't refer to you as a rookie after your first year. I didn't like being in 3rd and 4th year and still being refered as a rookie.
I don't mind the story. It looks decent imo.
I just can't get up for anymore zero to hero stories. We went the undrafted route in 2K15 and 2K18. I want to be a player that had a ton of hype coming up and is living up to it. I know 2K16 and 2K17 had that. But I'm thinking more along lines of, you're now a established superstar in the league. You're the real deal but now it's time to win. The pressure to win is just as high as the hype. Similar to LeBron. You also have to navigate thru some off the court stuff and try to keep your image intact. You are also recovering from injury, which explains why you need to build your player back up.
I'm still willing to give this a shot. It does look like it has potential.

If people are complaining about not being able to skip cut scenes the problem isn't that you literally can't skip the cut scenes. The problem is that the cut scenes are "cringey" and unbearable.
Giving your customers the ability to skip part of your game experience, and they celebrate it, isn't an accomplishment (in my opinion).
Maybe they are going the Hulu model... They torture us with cut scenes until we purchase a premium, subscription service whereby we can skip the commercials (er... I mean cut scenes).

This story is forced and it shouldn’t be. I just want to take my player from high school to college then the combine. Then have my draft stock be determined by how well I play in the combine. Also my career shouldn’t be a forced story. Your choices should really dictate how your career evolves. Bad chemistry or rapport could be a result of how you answer post game interview question, and definitely need to be a result of your play on court etc.
Nice trailer, it looks more interesting and less forced than 2k18, and with better actors. Skipping cutscenes is HUGE, about ****ing time, especially for those who make several players/builds. If only 2k toned toned down the VC stuff that was borderline scam last year, I think I'd be satisfied. And improved gameplay, of course.
I dont really get into MyCareer, but outside what I assume is a predetermined nickname, it does look kind of neat. Definitely more believable than last yrs story line anyway. I thought it was funny that coach speaking some foreign language and the MyPlayer saying, what, I cant understand you, lol.

Isn't going from high school, to college, getting drafted, then playing in the NBA a form of a story?
Too many people set the difficulty to Rookie, and then start so they can get a high draft pick. I'd rather have the story lead me in a direction at start, then I can make my own history. Besides the actors are way better this year. I'm looking forward to the story.

    Yup, but its your story.
A player being in the NBA is a story in and of itself. Give the user the ability to create one of those stories with a MC mode that is essentially a player-lock ML with perks (agent, contract negotiations, being traded, endorsements, etc) and you have a hit.
Giving the scripted story is what hurts it at times.
Edit: Not saying this story is going to be bad, but I just don't see it as necessary. MLB The Show 18 starts you as a low rated player, gives you a shot, you're going to be drafted late - then it's straight RPG.
To me, that's the way to go with these.

I forgot I did see someone mention that, I'm tired of thin online leagues. I never understood why they're such an afterthought seeing how popular fantasy sports are.

Better get your copy of #NBA2k19 to see what it’s like to play for the Mad Ants! #MadAboutBlueFort Wayne Mad Ants added,

So I don't see any other G-League teams tweeting about 2K but Fort Wayne. Don't think it's good sign for any of us that we'll be able to choose the G-League team we land on.

Don't think its a choice. But we did see Charlottes and Lakers affiliation in the trailor
    Two things.
    1) I like the addition of g league teams, hopefully it just isn’t the mad ants.....I’m a fan of all teams being the game, the more the better, classic, euro, g league. I want them all.
    2) I know I’m an old cat now but I have absolutely zero interest in his mode, zero. Lebron is the cover guy. Give me some lebron classic games (like Mike’s in 2k11), that’s what I’m talking about.......but this stuff, zero interest, none, zip, nadda.
I can skip the cutscenes!?!?! I will now definitely  play this mode this year. Didn't touch MyCareer last year after The Prelude for this exact reason. Thank you 2K for finding a different means of generating ad revenue or whatever compromise it took to make this happen.

Some good news on that stupid nickname...maybe.

Big if true. It makes sense because "AI" it would be one of the first nicknames. But my only doubt is that they will still call you A.I. during cutscenes. Don't see them having multiple names in cutscenes. But I do see names on Jerseys and signs

He's just a random youtuber. this confirms nothing..

    He has a million subscribers.
He was invited to 2K's hype events along with Chris Smoove and Mike Korzemba.
    You?

yeah, the event was last month. they didn't even show MyCareer at the event.
a million subscribers doesn't make you a developer. lol
he has to beg for a info through the twitter if he wants to know, just like anybody.

If this is accurate, which I assume it is because Shakedown wouldn’t say something like that without either a good gut feeling or knowing for sure, then I’m getting the game without question. Still wanna see more mycareer info.

No driving layup, no post scoring stats...

That's presumably not all the categories, just the ones affected by height which is the menu its showing

Yes, but the G-League is looking forced too. What if I just want to play in the NBA as a top pick? Everything is just so forced, zero freedom at all from the looks of things.

Yeah, thats what i don't like too.
When NBA 2k16 was released with Euroleague and College i thought
Men, if they introduce the D-League it would be really great. Playing College and get drafted (or not) depending on your College Games.
And the option to play Euroleague instead of College and get drafted as guy from overseas. That would have been the perfect Career. A few Cutscenes in it and boom. Best Sports Player Career of All time.
