  1. Love that we have a cover athlete, date, and everything that comes with each order in October. Good start. I just got 19 for free thanks to PSN, and I'm glad I didn't purchase it this year as it was too similar to 18 for me. In hoping 20 will have some good content in store for us all!

So the cheapest way to play 4 days early is the $80 edition, right?
You can play 4 days earlier if you get any version other than the standard version.

    Greater customization? Hmmmmm...

The notes include no mention of Franchise Mode...but I guess that could be part of the "future announcements".

The fact franchise doesn't even get a stand alone mention is quite concerning, but not surprising one bit.

The last thousand or so social media posts by the devs from every social media site you can think of makes no mention of franchise mode, but it's wishful thinking.
Yeah, I have no delusions that Franchise Mode is going to be overhauled or upgraded to the point many of us would like it to be.
Seems like the majority of the attention will stay with DD (of course), and any left over development is going to RttS and now March to October.
Cubs don't even make the playoffs and Javier Baez is graced with the cover for MLB The Show 20. What a joke!! Should have at least gotten a great player from a team that made the playoffs.

    Yes please.

Sadly, I highly doubt this means more equipment choices.
Hopefully this is year we FINALLY get Nike catchers equipment.

Hopefully and at least some other obvious omissions.

Customization is always welcome, regardless of the exact form it's in. I hope that the new "flexible" aspects of March to October include the ability to use non-default rosters. Classic rosters, in particular, seem like a great fit for that type of single season playthrough.
Any gameplay enhancements other than a minor footnote on defensive and hitting mechanics that they literally put in every single year? Of course not. Why? Because it's not directly tied to revenue.

Looking at the preorder rewards, I would say you're right. There is not 1 single thing in that offer that I would need since I am a franchise player.
I won't preorder anyway until I see what happens with franchise. I've been pretty annoyed with them taking out Season without telling us ahead of time. I want to see what else is removed or unchanged before I decide whether or not to spend any $.
Updates I would like to see in MLB The Show 20
All grass textures redone so that they don't look all smudged and ugly. FIFA has better crisper, looking grass then MLB the show.
March to October Mode needs to let us edit player equipment and Batting Stances and implement custom rosters
Aaron Judge's batting stance needs to be updated. I know they motion captured his batting stance in MLB 18(He still has the same stance in MLB 19), but he didn't do the stance the same way he bats when he is in an actual game, in real life.
We need dug out and home plate hand shakes when you score regular runs. Not just home runs.
We need better cutscenes of the dug out and players not wearing they're hats when in the dugout. Happens in real life all the time. Why make all the players with accurate hair cuts if you're barely gonna show them off?
Give us a new way to pitch like the mlb 2k games used to have. The only thing that I liked about the MLB 2k games was the way you pitched. You had different analog motions for each pitch and they made sense and felt great.
Make the outfield/infield throwing meter more like MVP baseball 2005 where it would require a longer button press for harder throws.
Make the A.i more disciplined at the plate so that they draw more walks. In MLB 19 I pitch on Legend difficulty and put the user pitch control sliders all the way down and I still rarely ever walk batters.
Implement button mashing running from home to first so that it keeps us more involved in the game.
Change the announce team, they have gotten old and stale.
Let us create teams in offline mode.
Give us legendary World Series teams.
Put commentary in the HomeRun Derby even if it's not a real life announcer.
Give us mini games like MVP Baseball 2005.
More vibration feedback VARIATION, when you get great contact on the ball the controller should vibrate more than when you get ok contact. MVP baseball 2005 had this.
A few new body types. Players like Encarnacion and Gary Sanchez have bigger belly's in real life. I haven't seen any player in MLB the show with a big belly body type.
Include player tattoos. (This one is not that important but would be cool to see)
Wasnt March to October supposed to be a part of franchise? LOL
Seems like the trend to Micro Transaction, DD and RTTS is where the game will continue to head. Not that I am surprised anymore. The weak and lazy roster updates, everything tied to rewards and online play this year. Well seems like the end of MLB The Show for me. IF I had to make a choice right now based on what I have seen in the past few years and their design choices, I would have to say this is a hard pass. Maybe when the price drops at Black Friday next year.
    Disappointing.
At this point I would just be happy if they made it so the base runners ran when I hit the ball in the gap and I didn’t automatically draw 6 plus walks a game or score every game on a wild pitch. Won’t happen but I am sure they will have new ways to collect baseball cards or fantasize about something else. 2 thumbs down 👎 at this point, all I need is it to play a better game of baseball personally
People I wouldnt get super excited about anything The Show may add next year
Holidays of 2020 PS5 will release and Im sure they already have started to design that game
With that being said the 2 BIG thing I look forward to hopefully next yr is the ability to edit Hair and Facial hair on all players and new face scans for guys like Baez, Grichuk and alot of others!
How about a new gameplay engine altogether in which comeback logic isn't so obviously a factor on harder difficulties? When the game first released, it played well, organically. As more and more patches were released to appease the damn tweenie demographic, the gameplay started feeling more and more like last season. It's gotten to the point where I honestly feel like they intentionally make the later patches feel like previous years so they keep you yearning for enhanced gameplay. The latest patch literally feels EXACTLY like show 18. The rubber band logic on legend difficulty has literally made me shelve the game for the year. I can literally PREDICT what's gonna happen 90% of the time. Get a runner on first and second with less than two outs - try it out. 90-95% of the time it will be a line out, pop out, strike out or shallow fly out so the runner can't advance. It's honestly about as inorganic as you can get at this point.

Excited to see some info about The Show 20, it’s going to feel like an eternity until we get new info after this. Probably not until late Jan - early Feb.

With release date being 2 weeks earlier, maybe we get info mid January instead of starting after Super Bowl? Idk just spitballing.

Staying clear of all sports games next year with the next generation looming.  Every single developer will have part of their development team dedicated to move their games to the new generations so I reckon it is almost guaranteed we'll be getting watered down version next year.
I'm also curious about the mention of "updated player development" in March to October. Curious what that is and if it carries across to RTTS and Franchise.
Guess we'll find out in the coming weeks/months. :)

Based on what evidence? MLB 14 was the first release on PS4 and it introduced Online Franchise in both the PS4 and PS3 version.
Most games last gen to current gen were nothing more then ports of the lesser version with some graphical improvements.
I am passing without changes and improvements to franchise. My wife bought it this year for me and I have hardly touched it. Feels too familiar and doesn't hit any of my wants.

I feel like it usually takes 2-3 years for sports games on new generations to really come into their own. Sometimes a series will completely face plant while transitioning. The early NHL games for PS4 were genuinely bad.

Keep in mind that the PS4 and PS5 is built on the same architecture so the transition in theory should be seamless. The downside of releasing the full potential of the PS5 version will be that they have to cater to the PS4 version at the same time. Once all their focus is on PS5 only then will you see it really shine.

Sadly I'm afraid you're right. I'm so dying to finally get home/road equipment. I also hate how on the Braves when you wear the navy jerseys the long sleeves are red. That is so wrong. The long sleeves should still be blue. But with the way The Show's system is set up as team color 1, 2, and 3, that is what happens.

Not paying 20 more dollars to pay a couple days earlier. They can chase themselves. I don't play DD so all the extra stuff is useless

That’s what I’m deciding on too, I dont play DD. I don’t know if 4 days early is worth 20 dollars, especially when the game comes out 2 weeks earlier than normal.

"chase" wouldn't be my word of choice, but we're on the same page.
