  1. Loving that the UEFA competitions badges are on the kits. Hopefully these change dynamically based upon qualification, as well as for cup competitions.
So by 'stand alone' are they saying UEFA CL will not be an integrated aspect of any career mode they have? From what folks have said about the WC being a separate DB from the career mode, might it be you'll only be able to play the upcoming CL or some tournament mode modification but won't be able to use the same engine when you bring your club to the CL in career mode two or three years into your career?

This would be a detail that might have gotten some love as a result of this, and I'd be happy if it means in Career Mode we'll see league badges change with relegation/promotion.
Derek Rae!! I love his commentary and pretty much watch any game he's calling. For those that remember when ESPN had the Champions League rights in the USA, he'd call the games with Tommy Smyth.
It may sound insane but I'm more excited about that than the CL being included lol

No champions league will probably be part of the career mode and there will be a separate tournament version of it. It'll also probably be part of the Journey too.
I know it's usually some of the last stuff we learn, but I hope we finally get the Chinese Super League this year. It will lessen the sting of losing Russia, and the likes of Zenit, CSKA, Spartak, etc... Maybe we could get the Ukrainian league as as a replacement in Eastern Europe

    OK thanks for the info
Has EA confirmed that the Russian Premier League won't be in FIFA 19? KONAMI may have the rights to the licensing for PES, but it could be like the Italian Serie A and B situation, where EA can use the team names and player likenesses, but don't have the rights to the leagues name (i.e. FIFA fans have been forced to accept that Serie A and B have been called Calcio A and B the last couple of years).
On a side note: I read in an article here, that EA may have obtained the full Serie A / B license this year - not sure if I saw this posted on OS?
If EA is going for the authentic Champions League / Euro League experience that they seem to be touting here then one would assume that all the teams that are already qualified for the group stages will be in FIFA 19. If we exclude teams in the major leagues that were in FIFA 18, then these teams should be included:

    • Lokomotiv Moscow (CL)
    • Shakhtar Donetsk (CL)
    • CSKA Moscow (CL)
    • Viktoria Plzeň (CL)
    • Krasnodar (EL)
    • Vorskla Poltava (EL)
    • Jablonec (EL)
EA made some Champions League games for the 04-05 and 06-07 seasons and they were both really good, hopefully they use it well in FIFA 19

Konami have explicitly stated Russian Premier League is exclusive to PES. I should say I don't know what that means exactly. I suppose it's possible, like you said, that the RPL isn't a single entity license, and the licensing just applies to the league branding itself and not the clubs.
Why is NBA Live being released 3 weeks ahead of FIFA when basketball season doesn't start until late October and soccer season starts in August?  These release dates are getting ridiculous.

It’s even 10 days after Match day 1 of the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. Haha
    Sept. 28??
Why does FIFA continue to release so late?
All other sports release at or near the beginning of the real life season which is August for most of the big soccer leagues.

I never really understood their decision to release late september / early october.
An early August release, when everyones super excited for the new season would make sense, both from a business perspective and for the fans/players.
Of course they need a year for the full development cycle, but there have hardly been any changes in recent years and it looks like FIFA 19 won't be much more than a slightly updated FIFA 18. So reducing the development cycle from 12 months to 10 months should be doable....

Blame Madden it has a lot to do with that as they can't have two sport titles compete in the same month span.
Never had a doubt that Champions League would be their major selling point. I'm glad it's finally in, but I can almost guarantee that we won't get Creation Centre back or any real improvements in Career Mode like we've all been asking for. With Read Dead 2 and Fallout 76 coming out in the same time frame, I'm seriously thinking about taking a pass, this year. They'll have to change my mind with something substantial.
The summer transfer window is open until August 31 at least, so I can understand that there's some work to be done. Otherwise you might even get stuck with Neymar in a Barcelona shirt for your game cover :D
Still I agree that they should maybe try to release much closer to the start of the season. I'd be ok with early September as opposed to the end of the month.

You WOULD THINK that EA addressed the issue with league patches not changing since they took the time on the Champions League patches. You would think........

Perhaps EA will include the top Russian teams in the "Rest of World" section?

I'm pretty sure Live and NHL release within the same time frame. :)
Worth noting that the new commentary team is ONLY for Champions League games. The standard commentary team is still doing the rest of the game. It'll basically be the same as how the world cup always had its own commentary team.
The Title is a bit misleading and gives the impression that there's a new commentary team for the whole game, which just isn't the case.

I think the later release has to do with gamescom (late August), where fifa officially allows gameplay footage to be released to the public. Maybe, EA relies on the feedback from this event to make some adjustments.

EA has 3 sport titles releasing in September. NBA Live, FIFA, and I'm guessing NHL will be squeezed somewhere between those two.

New commentary team is GREAT achievment. Bravo, EA!!!Great job during whole year.

Again, ONLY for Champions League. Same team for the last billion years is in every other game (besides world cup)

Something to build on I guess... I too originally thought new commentary team for the entire game.
