Konami’s eFootball has been in a state of disarray for quite some time now. The once proud franchise hit the reset button back in 2021, yet here we are in 2023 with not much to show. Updates have been slow — to be fair to Konami this has been their overall style since as far back as I can remember — and eFootball has lagged behind FIFA when it comes to an overall product. While you can argue about the actual gameplay on the pitch, the lack of modes, unstable online connectivity, and the graphics being shambolic compared to even eFootball 2021 Season Update are rough parts of the experience.
So now that we’re nearly two years into the making of eFootball, let’s see what’s new with this massive V2.4 update.
EA Sports PGA Tour is just a month away from launch and will be the first EA golf game to come out since Rory McIlroy PGA Tour all the way back in 2015. For context, the PS4 and Xbox One were only a year old when RM was released. Now, we are three years into the new-gen consoles.
The new game also sees the return of Augusta National and The Masters, which has been absent from the series since Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14. With the return of the iconic course that is always in extremely high demand, it will undoubtedly be a fan favorite.
The best way I can describe how gameplay felt in the Tech Test is tight and crisp. For the last several years, there’s been consistent stuttering and lagging when playing online. In the small sample size collected during the Tech Test, online gameplay felt incredible. Legitimately better than any online experience I’ve had with The Showbefore. The in-game menus and activity were lightning fast. Player control, animations and gameplay all felt tight and crisp. Even when matched up against players that were taking their time between menus, the game just feels so much better than last year.
It seems as if after every Super Bowl a losing team just as talented as this year’s Eagles team talks about how they will run it back and get it done next year instead. The Bengals, for instance, had every expectation of making another trip to the Super Bowl this season before running into a Chiefs team that had just missed an opportunity the year before because of those same Bengals. The hard truth of the matter is that there are no guarantees and, even though a team might look like a perennial contender, a championship window can close awfully fast. It’s no easy task keeping the core of a roster intact as players age out of their prime or leave for free agency as their value increases.
The first major change to Diamond Dynasty this year is Sets and Seasons. SDS is extremely focused on team building in MLB The Show 23, and the addition of Sets and Seasons play a huge role in that endeavor. Seasons will be 6-8 week periods that govern the pool of eligible cards that can be used across various modes. Season Squads will consist of those eligible cards, which means you’ll have to rebuild your squad every couple months to maintain eligibility for Ranked Seasons (Solo and Co-Op), Events (event-specific), Conquest (time-limited maps require season squads, permanent maps do not) and Mini-Seasons.
