  1. 17 had to have been some sort of transition year or something. Maybe they didn't have time to implement the new body types, or some glitch happened with the super skinny body types?
Idk man but the leap from 17 to 18 is crazy.
They got rid of that stupid High school body type. Curry has a normal body now and doesn't look like a prepubescent teen. Durant has the right body type too. He's slim but doesn't look sickly like he did last year.

Almost seems like there was special attention given to KD with those hunch shoulders.....or am I imagining things?

I was thinking the samething 2k putting in player posture now too lol their attention to detail is unmatched at times.

Im thinking they knew they would have to change up a lot of things with Nike becoming the new face of the NBA, so making graphical changes in 2k17 might have been putting the cart before the horse. Other then that I have no clue why 2k17 looked so bad lol.
Hopefully we can see a side by side from last year. So far so good. Everything looks great( KD might be a tad too dark). Let's just hope the shorts look good in motion. Years past..players' lower bodies just looked off. Like not enough thigh and butt muscles or something. Shorts wouldn't rise up when players ran, making them look way too long. But this was by far my biggest complaint, and it looks like 2k is knocking it out of the park.

Screenshots are usually just.....screenshots to me...and a good jumping point for discussion of the upcoming game- but I am genuinely impressed by these...

People haven't been this impressed with screenshots since 2k14

These look great, but wish they would add the separation between the leg sleeve and socks. The short shorts looks great though.

What do you mean? They had that in last year's game if you wore short socks. Most guys that wear leg sleeves/compression pants if they wear the mid or high socks wear them over the compression pants/sleeves like KD has there. I assume you mean KD since Curry has a separation between his sleeves and socks/ankle braces.

I have to say i'm impressed and this is far beyond my original expectations heading into 2k18. I thought 2k was done making improvements in areas unrelated to VC.

Created player bodies will stand out like a sore thumb this year if they weren't addressed, but I have confidence that they will be on par to what we are seeing in these screenshots.
The first thing I noticed about the Paul George image is that the frame looked spot on, but didn't know if that was just by chance. Considering this KD pic, it looks like they might have officially answered the call on body-types this year.

This is what I mean. The compression sleeves are either too long or socks idk.
Maybe it's just the way his jersey is but KD looks kind of fat. Also his shoulders look kind of weird but it's better than spaghetti arms
Also, his compression pants are too long
Pretty incredible work by VC/2K. Can't wait to see Kawhi, Andrew Wiggins and a few other wings players. Really making me rethink my decision to wait to purchase.

Wow actually getting pretty hype now. These look really good to me and I now have high confidence my boy Giannis will be fixed.
Hopefully the gameplay makes as good a leap as the graphics.

That is just the "crumbling up" of the jersey in the stomach area. Clearly, KD's model isn't "fat" if you look at his arms, legs (super skinny like IRL) or shoulders.
Yes, Durant rocks the equivalent to knee sleeves in reality but I'm sure they wanted to show off the new (Nike branded) compression pants.
Not a big deal and can be easily corrected...

They need an option for the length of the compression pants then. Cause either those are knee sleeves or a shorter pair of compression pants. Most guys in the league wear the long pants that go down further so when they wear a high sock they wear it over the pants and usually the only time there's any space between the end of the pants and the top of the sock is if they're short socks or the sock get rolled down during the course of the game.

You can see the length of the pant with a guy wearing short socks here

KD typically wears knee sleeves though, which if equipping that in game with a high sock the separation look is possible.

First thing I noticed was the lower body. No more tree trunk calf/ankles? Hooray!!!
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Well I mean KD and Curry never had the tree trunk ankles. It was the muscular players like Dwight and Lebron who had it which is why I was a little disappointed they didn't show off the bottom half of Dwight Howard in his screenshot
looking REALLY good. Yes, the lighting is what it is, but in this screenshot at least, the lighting off of KD & Steph's faces really show off dimension, depth, and detail.
Also, really like how they make KD all legs. And notice how his shorts are above the knee cap? Kudos.
I screened this from KODEMAN's vid on YouTube. This really makes me appreciate the newer models and jerseys even more. Geez 2k17 looks even more ridiculous now that I see side by side.
    MBhoops
They REALLY need to have body types in create a player this year or it's going to look stupid af.

We need to be able to choose from at least 4 different body types

Anyone dying for Bucks to announce their jerseys? :)
I believe Sixers announcing theirs tomorrow....
    These pics are stellar.

No doubt! Got to see how the Greek freak looks to completely put my mind at ease that they are gone. It only looked right on Ingram. Giannis could have sued 2K for defamation of character regarding his model..lol
The problem is the following: how create a player official listed as 6.9 when the true height is 7.0?
In the software should be an option to set the real height keeping untouched the official value.
For example Embiid official is 7.0 the true is 7.2.
got dang! IMPRESSED! Totally hyped for the game... as dude above said, for me at least, screenshots are usually screenshots, but this right here... oh boy..
Outstanding! KDs posture is on point. I was already sold on 2K18 but it looks like they're bringing the heat this year. I'm loving this year prerelease as well. It's only screenshots but it feels like they're feeding the community this year instead of starving us. Everything about 2K18 screams classic.
KD really looks "lanky" finally. Someone else said it earlier - he's "all legs". Which just makes him look.....right.
The shorts finally being cut above the knee adds to it.
Small details like this will just amplify the immersion when playing.....nail this once and for all and then 2K can focus on other stuff moving forward.
I'm sure there will still be the odd player that's an eyesore, but can't say I've seen a bad one yet.
Right direction for sure and that's BIG.
    Awesome stuff!
This is unbelievably on point. Best screenshot I've seen yet. Someone pointed out the lack of reflections on the court. Anybody know what's up with that?

I was just about to say something about that I hope the reflections is one of those last minute additions they make before the game releases, great looking players on a bland court won't look as good overall.
    tatlopuyo
Floor seems to have no reflection at all.

My biggest issue with the screenshots so far. I'm hoping they can still go back and touch up the courts a bit but I can live with it if jerseys and player models continue to look this good.

EASY FIX, just go in to the roster edit and give him knee sleeves connect it to the normal compression pants that stop at the thigh and proceed to close your mouth. LIKE WE ALWAYS DO IT THIS TIME!!!!!
Praise the basketball gods! This shot looks incredible and they got KD’s body on point.
Like others in the thread have said, screens are usually just screens, but these are damn impressive
Sent from my iPhone using Operation Sports
That is a noticeable difference, so hats off to 2K for improving the models -- KD looks spot on, both he and Curry look like men playing basketball and not high schoolers.
Visually, it appears 2K has made strides this year. Still going to hold out the first few weeks, though ... gameplay has yet to be revealed and, even if it's good to great out of the box, I want to hear how they're going to apply patches/updates.
The patching was ridiculous last year and broke/re-broke/fixed things over and over. As gamers, we could never count on the gameplay being the same week-to-week, which made things difficult for those looking for sim-experiences.
But, the visuals looks great -- I'm hoping that effort is repeated in other areas of the game.
Absolutely phenomenal job by the 2k art team here. I can't wait to see Wiggins. Hopefully they have both his dreads and mini fro to alternate. KD and Steph both look on point. Eyes also have life instead of whatever the ghoulish eyes were last year. I love it.

NBA cartoon is back... Maybe in 3 years it will start looking like a next gen game....

Can you explain how you want the game to look? If you didn't notice, the best looking games don't run at 60fps on console and your usually watching more than playing.
Take The Order 1886 for example, it looked really good but was a very limited game and it only ran at 30fps.
Another example is Rise: Sons of Rome. It looked amazing, but even on PC people had a hard time getting it to run higher than 30fps.
Sports games definitely need to run at 60fps so some sacrifices will be made and it's usually on the graphics side.

Yes there is some reflection. You can see a bit of white spots under their shoes.
But I think it's just like last gen: 2K7 had very strong reflections, then every year it got reduced until around 2K11 there were only reflections in the paint (or it seemed like it). They may be going the same route this generation. 2K14 had the most noticeable reflections, then it got reduced a bit since then.
    Long-time lurker first time poster.
First I want to say that KD model looks pretty great. I like the long, skinny legs. Nicely done.
Curry on the other hand.. his legs look way too thick, not to mention too short. As a whole i think they made him too thick. He should be skinnier but little more ripped.
Also not a fan of how the jerseys are bagging/bunching up like they have it this year. That should only happen if they're running.
And I know it's nitpicking, but Curry's arm shouldn't be that long either. If you look at any photos his hands do not reach down to the bottom of his shorts.
Speaking of shorts, I like how they're shorter this year. Hopefully they give us multiple sizes to choose from.
Lastly, it looks like the players are floating/ levitating again. Just look at the bottom of the shoes on KD. There's air underneath it.
Anyways, looking forward to more pics!

Yeah, there is only so much RAM/GPU/CPU to go around so if they are dedicating more of it to the players and accessories, they have to use less in other places
Regarding arm length: I wouldn't necessarily jump on this too quickly until another screenshot is shown of Curry. Don't use his jersey length as reference. Use his actual body part and other visual factors as reference.
Elbow crease and knee location - use those as the reference point in relation to his wrist, waist, hips, thighs, and knees. Secondly, we must also take into account his legs are positioned in front of his body which shortens the distance between left arm to floor height/distance. Looking at his opposing limbs "cross/action" (his left arm to his right leg). They are more in the same plane. Those are probably better reference points - distance height between wrist and knee, and also where the elbow crease is in relation to his waist/logo.

Personally I am more concern about Dwight Howard and big man not having long enough arms.

The following (second spoiler tag) is a comparison between 2k18 and 2k17 Curry and Durant. What I need to see is actually another shot of Durant to truly see that gumby arms are gone. As it stands, initially upon first inspection of the new 2k18 photo, I thought it's completely gone, but through the following comparison pick, I'm still hesitant.
    NewBreed1
Yeah, just for quick comparison showing how long his arms are. Also how thick/short they have his legs.

EDIT: Another picture to "show" the length of Curry's arm depending on the angle. Need more screenshot.

Yeah, I think we need to see more pics/angles to get a true read.
I really wish 2K would give us body sliders like we see in some other sports games.
My biggest worry is still with leg thickness. KD's looks good. Curry's looks too thick. Most players have skinny, skinny legs. Even if they do have a bigger/ripped upper body. Lets hope 2K addressed that this year.
THE LEGS ARENT THICK. HES JUST WEARING ALOT AROUND HIS ANKLE AND THE SHOES ARE BULKY. STOP NIT PICKING AND BE GRATEFUL THEY EVEN LISTENED FOR ONCE.
    NewBreed1

I don't think his legs are short but rather the accessories cover a large majority of it (ankle brace, knee pads).
His arms are hilariously long in the game though.

The legs are definitely too thick.
I'm impressed by these. Some of the earlier shots and the videos were disappointing in terms of facial detail. These are amazing and hopefully they're what we see in the final product.

What 2k18 videos have you seen??
    MBhoops
The legs are definitely too thick.

Look at the size of the shoes (all 4 shoe) as a point of reference
Are you referring to the front or back leg? Notice how Curry's front leg shoe is even bigger than Kevin Durant's shoe. Notice how Curry's front leg shoe is also bigger than his back leg's shoe.
The problem with 2k is that there camera angle seems to bring about some type of "warped" perception. This is why certain gameplay angles make the players look larger, and crowds the court while other make them look much more proportion. Even a body part size seems to "change" as seen with Curry's front shoe, which seemingly "dominates in size.
I don't care what anyone says. Steph is still better than Durant. Averaging great numbers in the finals against a 40 year old jefferson and single coverage does not make you better than the player they game planned against and constantly trapped/doubled while still averaging a near 30pt triple double. When Durant wins a championship without Curry or even can lead his team on a 14 game win streak without Curry in the line up then come back and talk to me. Also everyone says the playoffs though, well look at the playoffs as a whole instead of one series and you will see Curry had better averages and the team played just as well without Durant in the lineup.
''It's 4mm thick!'' ''His legs should have been a little bit longer!''
Guys, there is really no need to nitpick. As a whole package, they look spot-on. Unless you measure the shoulder, arms, legs of players yourself, you can't pinpoint the errors by just looking at pics.
At this point it's all about perspectives and personal opinions.

It's called depth perception. Putting something small in the forefront of the picture makes it look larger relative to things behind it, especially with a low angle shot like the one provided by 2k.
Trying to judge height, leg width, arm length or shoe size is impossible with angles and pictures set up like this.
Here's a fun article everyone should read before they comment on how large/small anything in this picture is:
Also; no one has said this yet but they MIGHT HAVE brought back leg lengths with body types they used to have it and patched it out.......when they first started current gen.

I'm curious how this would work though.
If you make their legs longer, they get taller. I imagine you'd have to make their torso look shorter then?

Wouldn't that basically be torso length or whatever it's called
Is there a legal issue why 2K won't make KD 6'11"? Everybody knows he is not 6'9" the man is 7' on the court with his shoes on. There is picture proof all over the internet.
    DIRK41NOWITZKI

I only just noticed this, but it appears Durant's shorts are pulled up higher on his waist than the usual player (like in real life). There's more gap between the end of the shorts and his knee too, unlike Curry. I wonder if stuff like that is editable this year?
    strawberryshortcake

Just to clarify - I wasn't saying 2K got it wrong (with my Urkel pic). I just meant to say, KD reminds me of Urkel with his high shorts haha.
