Just in Case You Are Still Playing NBA 2K18... The Servers Have Officially Been Taken Offline

Attention NBA 2K18 gamers… I mean, I suppose there are a few of you still out there. Unfortunately, for those certain individuals, the servers for NBA 2K18 have officially been taken offline today.

What does that mean exactly? Well… Basically any mode in NBA 2K18 that earns or uses VC will be affected, along with any other online function (such as the MyTEAM mode and online matches against other players).

However, you can still play offline quick games, as well as the MyGM and MyCAREER modes offline. This will let you earn SP rather than VC.

If you created a MyCAREER or MyGM online save file before this, the server shutdown means the data will no longer be available for use and you will have to start a new game in those modes.

RIP.

  1. Let’s give credit to EA when it’s due, this game isn’t even 3 years old and serves are gone. Ya I know the payer base is probably none existent but it still seems fast

Give EA credit? I'm not understanding.

Think he's saying EA generally keeps the servers for their games going longer than 2K, which is I think true on the whole.
I know the community hated this game but I liked it. My 2nd favorite 2K game this gen behind 2K16.
This game had the best Play Now Online format and they left it for whatever reason and it's been downhill ever since.

I thought people liked this game somewhat? At least in comparison to 2K17.
NBA 2k18 was the first game when they introduced All Time Teams? That for me, is as reason to hold on to the game, but I'm sucker for any classic players/ teams stuff... I think the game offline against cpu and with friends is still a good game to play once inawhile, issues aside...

Hated the gameplay due to the snatchbacks and blow-by animations, but I LOVED the PNO format. If only we could back out with a press of a button, and that the "Accept any matchmaking" option was more consistent.

    Gotcha.
I guess I never gave it much thought, because most gamers tend to move on from sports titles quicker than any other genre. However, that would make sense for the PNO/My Team modes, because of the introduction of new players and rookies. As for the MyPlayer mode....I guess it would depend on how many people still play that mode in general.
For example, as much as I think NBA 2K11 was the GOAT of H2H online games, there would be no way that I would go back to playing that game on any regular basis.
