NBA 2K18
NBA 2K18 Gameplay Videos - Knicks vs. Celtics & Thunder vs. Rockets
Blhite has posted a couple of NBA 2K18 gameplay videos (in French). One featuring the New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics and the second video featuring the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets.
Might have been him. His youtube channel is actually great been watching him for years, he is a true basketball fan. He usually gets the game a couple of days early, I don't know if 2K sends it to him or not.
Do you know on what difficulty he play ?
He usually plays on all star difficulty so I'am guessing it is All Star. He isn't the most hardcore 2K player.
* 3:10 — I like the quick trigger from Melo with the pull-up jumper from 12 feet. He had the space to put it up and he took it. It's the type of shot he takes in real life but the AI often passed up in 2K17.
* 3:25 — Rough rookie mistake by Ntilikina, helping off Kyrie from one pass away when Brown had already picked up his dribble at the elbow.
* 3:45 — Nice to see patience and ball fakes from Porzingis as he tries to make the post entry to Melo on the block.
* 5:25 — Here's Melo again going right after Jaylen Brown in the lane. I like seeing the AI — especially someone like Melo — trying to exploit these iso situations where they have an advantage.
* 6:48 — Great bit of verticality from O'Quinn, blocking the shot from the driver exploiting a closeout. Seeing plays like this one (among others in this video and others) makes me feel better about the interior defense in 2K18.
* 6:56 — In transition, Melo receives a pass above the break, recognizes he's open, and takes the opportunity to launch a three. Again, it's delightful to see it, after many years of 2K in which I felt AI stars didn't assert themselves enough on offense, leaving unrealistic usage rates and possession distributions.
* 8:36 — You can see the defensive rotations working as Baker leaves the nonthreatening Rozier in the opposite corner to check Tatum cutting through the lane.
* 10:30 — User-controlled Rozier finds himself isolating against Baker on the block with the shot clock running down and is in no position to really make anything happen. Baker, seemingly understanding Rozier's disadvantage, anticipates the drive and strips Rozier as he goes to shoot. Well done.
* The Celtics grab a bunch of offensive rebounds, especially early on. While my initial reaction bordered on concern, it seems to be more personnel-driven than anything. After all, the AI-controlled Knicks finished dead-last in the league last year in defensive rebounding percentage. Meanwhile, the Celtics appear to have no trouble boxing out on the defensive glass.
* 12:45 — Horford shouldn't hit this left-handed scoop shot against Hernangomez—and he doesn't.
* 13:47 — Here's Porzingis hitting a midrange jumper off the catch after having a few feet of space to take the shot. Again, nice to see an AI star taking the shot when it's there—just like the player would in real life.
* I feel like you can tell the difference between the interior defenders who will mount a strong challenge to drivers and those who won't. But I might be reading too much into it.
* 14:26 — Melo catches the ball at the elbow, posts up Hayward, faces up, jab steps, dribbles around, and pulls up for a jumper. So he's Melo.
Just curious-- Where did you see a post from Czar about a Day 1 patch?

1) Strips down low appear to be one of the mechanics to counter paint spam....i'm def here for it.
2) I love that gameplay is strongly urging players not to spam steal or block lol. #beadvised
3) All of the blocks were off help. NICE.
4) I was concerned about Baynes' offensive rebounds at first--it evened out tho.
5) Luckily the AI's long pass resulted in contact on the catch--clean catches that put players in automatic scoring position are one of the main issues with long passes.
6) Paint Passing is one of the last vestiges of bad gameplay...inevitably someone flashes into the paint, the defender will swing and miss at a pass right by their heads and it results in an easy score. We need more deflections out of bounds so guys can't just get the ball point blank at the basket at will. Guys like Cousins/Towns could break the game if we can constantly get them the ball a foot from the basket. Even players deflecting half of their misses will be a dramatic improvement.
7) FG percentages looked great. BOS 33%, NY 36% 3pt: NY 40%, BOS 18%
8) The Iso at 21:23 was classic Melo. Looked really good.
9) I really wish users got multiple FT angles like the AI shooters do...really shows off the game's good graphics. Hopefully this is the year we see injured players in street clothes too.
10) Fouls in the open court/driving to the basket are well done. Guys like Kyrie/Lebron/Harden/Westbrook will give people headaches this year. BRAVO DEVS.
11) Melo had the equivalent of 33pts, 7rebs, 2asts
Beside the language, you should take a look at his videos, great content (MyGM, analysis etc.)

Thanks a lot for posting my last video here.
The game was played on the All-Star Difficulty. It is the patched version. Had it immediately when I installed the game on my XOne.
I was at the 2K party in France one week ago and I had a very good feedback from the game. I was a little concerned but the different levels of modification made to the AI are great. All I can say is that this first good impression is confirmed. 2K18 is really fun to play from a tactical/realistic standpoint.
You can see it clearly while playing the Knicks for example : 3/4 touches. The ball goes to Melo who plays it ISO from the High Post. Pretty realistic right?
On the other hand, Tatum versus Porzi on the wing. You can see Lee comming from the weak side to pre-rotate (anticipating the help defense) knowing that Porzi would be beaten on his matchup. Really clever.
Well, it looks like basketball. It feels like basketball. It is basketball!

After that luckluster stream from 2K it was pure joy to watch your video. I watched it in its entirety and was grinning during some parts, like watching Melo go to work. Any chance you'll post another video like that with different teams?

Thank you, Rockie.
I'm curious to see how Westbrook game is retranscripted in 2k18. He played so poorly in 2K17.
I'll try to play better too. Way to many mistakes in that "Game 1"

That is a much more interesting matchup. Thanks for the video Blhite, can't wait for the next one

Great video. We appreciate your efforts. For your next video could you bump the difficutly to Superstar? The reason I ask is Czar said the CPU AI is programmed to play "smarter" and more agressive as you increase difficulty.
Superstar difficulty should provide a more accurate representation of what we can expect from the AI controlled Westbrook.

I've started a new one with the Knicks. In 20 min of gameplay, the team was sold (okay why not, I guess Dolan is kind of tired). And the new owner wants to relocate the team to................ Seattle!
It killed me.
Yeah, even in the prelude. I feel clipping will always be in sports games though. There is so much you have to account for that's possible in real life, on court that's not possible with a controller. It's inevitable. I feel like with 1:1 real world physics and a completely live ball, you'd turn the ball over 80% of the time because playing a game can't replicate the "feel" of controlling space against a defender, crossing them over right in front of their face without hitting their shoe or getting snagged on their jersey. I don't mind it as long as it's not egregious and at the wrong times.
Blocks and on ball steal attempts are the two instances that clipping should be minimal in.
Here you go sir, MyLeague (http://forums.operationsports.com/forums/nba-2k-basketball/912078-nba-2k18-mygm-myleague-details-screenshots.html) is the "Dynasty" mode, and I'm pretty sure they still have a "Season" mode where you can just play a 2017-2018 season.
Regarding the video, is it just me or was it odd that Boston wasn't fouling in the closing seconds? I would think the users CPU teammates would have tried to fould be down by 4. Overall though it looked great!

Unfortunately any 3d video game will have some form of clipping (Except maybe driving games). The hope is that it can be minimized to a point of tolerance and not rampant throughout and leading to unrealistic outcomes.
Seriously? Uhhhh ya...plenty of modes to choose from. Very in depth career mode as well

It might be interesting to watch as the overall trend of this game is really different from the other one.

Was this one done on Superstar so you can feel the full power of the CPU?
Russ hyper aggressive....
PG working the mid range
That Russ steal and signature layup was a thing of beauty!

I love that guys on the bench have towels around their necks now, just another touch that adds authenticity to the overall experience.
As a Knicks fan, watching Melo take that 3 at the 7:30 mark was the most Melo thing ever and it warms my heart with the fiery passion of a thousand suns.
Great footage!
23:48 - Westbrook/Harden get testy with one another..love it
25:50 -What is Roberson doing? lol
After watching full video I didn't care much for OKC's 4th quarter offense and i hope 2k will be doing some work on the tendencies. PG13 got less touches than Roberson even down the stretch..Good quality video and thanks for posting
Russell's 3rd quarter was just amazing man....constantly on the attack...

I use to always do ratings and tendency redoes, for myself, but the last few years I haven't felt like it was really worth it. This year I will probably finally go back to doing it.
Next i can safely say that this showed me i didnt mess up by preordering!
that gameplay was simply amazing, even tho the rockets didnt run their offense the way i expect they will, i know u was on the sticks, i am very pleased with the overall feel of the game. U see that crowd get up and go crazy when he missed the last shot to send it to O.T.?
Just beautiful stuff. I see u werent too aggressive with Harden and thats ok, what stuck out to me was Ariza. Back when i was using Houston on 2k14, on 360, Ariza's jumper was MONEY! i prob averaged 20-30 a game just with him using spot up 3's.....
AND it looks like his jumper u got down in this game pretty easy. he was like what, 5-7 or so? only real gripe i had was late in 3rd he was completely alone in the corner after already knocking down about 4 threes and cpu ignored him. what happened? yup another 3! Sooooo many teams i can use now realistically and once again thank u for posting this and thanks 2K for making me not want to touch another old 2k game again lol!
PS....definitely looking forward to using my Sonics the RIGHT way in a throwback league!
Why Roberson is trigger happy ?
Why roberson is crossing half court with the ball after inbound and running offense.
4th quarter and TO where is Simple pick and roll play for Westbrook or George ???
I saw one thing i asked Czar before again this time with roberson.
George had missmatch in the 4 quarter and roberson was in the corner defense gap him so george didnt even make the move he immediately pass to him like he is Klay thompson.
I saw that in prelude with Tristan Thompson a lot....
- my biggest concern was Andre Roberson...as many of you noted, he was launching threes with no hesitation and it wasn't just a one time thing. It stuck like a sore thumb in this great game
- Westbrook was ultra aggresive and it was great to see but my concern is this is the 16/17 Westbrook, while I expect him to be more like 15/16 Westbrook (23.5/7.8/10.4 albeit with a slighty higher ppg average) with PG around this season (and in this game PG shot just 3 times). I mean it's anyone's guess really, but I think it's sensible not to expect the crazy usage rate and raw stats from Russ this season with another top 15 player around.
- Kanter was a beast on the boards, and really dominated Houston's smaller frountcourt, it was awesome to see! (and he looks great too)
- Love the new face scans and player models...PG13, Abrines, Adams, Kanter, Capella...only Russ looks slightly off, for some reason 2K always have problems with his likeness.

He mostly talks about baguettes and gives tips on how to cook snails and such.
Now my concern is, that is not Brad Stevens nor that is Baynes.(Art department????)
AI is on another level. thank god they playing a little bit better wish they can turn up more the star players tendencies.
That Harden/Westbrook altercation should be longer with camera zooming in, and teammates going in or a referee.
Really wish that they can wear random colorway shoes. instead of "away is black and home is white",,coz in NBA someone always rocking a different one. thats why i have to change some players shoe colorway in MY league every year.
Roberson needs to chill. that aint accurate last time i check.
No more random coach talking on time out, thank you Devs.
Other than that Kudos to 2k cant wait to get mine, this might be the best 2k so far.
You know a guy is good when he gets you to subscribe to his channel without even speaking the same language.
I seriously loved what I saw from a gameplay perspective, the AI looks intelligent enough to where it looks like I’m watching a real game on TV.
Lighting in the arenas seem accurate, and the smoothness of the entire thing makes it very pleasing to watch.
I’m sitting at work right now with 9 hours to go until I have this thing in my hands and I’m giddy.

The only thing that irked me from his playstyle was that he wasn't patient for the picks to set up lol
Other than than I subscribed since he get's the game a few days early....so next year we know where we can get our sim gameplay from.
True even though they have a different approach when it comes to 2k. Hes very knowledgable about basketball and 2K and his content is very high quality. Do you understand french optik ?
