Madden NFL 21 Patch Fixes Some Gameplay Issues and Animations - Patch Notes
A new Madden NFL 21 patch has arrived, fixing some gameplay related issues, exploits and animations. Check out the patch notes below.
Madden NFL 21 (Xbox Series X|S & PS5)
Key Highlights:
- Multiple on-field play and animation fixes
Gameplay Updates:
- Fixed an issue allowing the play to sometimes be incorrectly blown dead If the QB stood still for a significant duration of time.
- DEV NOTE: This issue would sometimes occur in situations where a user on defense would put extra defenders into coverage forcing the offensive user to wait for a Receiver to break open versus the additional defenders in coverage. The play would be blown dead due to logic that was incorrectly detecting the forward progress to be stopped in this situation, which we have corrected.
- Fixed an exploit allowing a user on defense to go offsides and block a field goal while losing and after the penalty was accepted, the half would end without another attempt on the untimed down.
- Fixed an issue causing multiple sideline characters to clip into the walls in the Falcons stadium.
- Fixed an issue causing the Center to sometimes fall to the ground at the snap on under-center plays. This was caused by a detected physics collision between the center and QB that led to a stumble animation, which has been fixed.
- Fixed an issue on the play Gun Wing Stack PA Slide preventing the receiver icons from appearing after the play-fake.
- General stability fixes

I was watching a cpu vs cpu game last night. (On a sim franchise) Darnold dropped back for a pass 3 straight plays. All 3 were sacks were he kept dropping back. It looks like if the ai first read isnt there they are lost on what to do. I have been seeing this since the 2nd patch of the game.
I see this in cpu vs user games as well.
Is EA not aware of this issue? I feel like ive seen it brought up a lot over the cycle.
Result was a 4th and 35.
This was cpu controlled on all pro default sliders.

Are these patch numbers supposed to be reflecting in the "about" section of the game? I'm inquiring because my version states 1.0.0.17 on xbox series x. From the sounds of it, I may just want to keep it at this version if the QBs aren't playing correctly lol. If this is an issue is there a way I can download which patch I want?
I've tried to load the game twice after downloading the patch. Both times the game freezes on the load screen and after a minute or so shuts off my PS4 completely.
I deleted the game and I'm re-downloading now, so hopefully that works.
Edit: Re-installing worked.

CG and NG are night and day from each other!! NG runs so much better and smoother. Really brought the joy back (for me) of playing. So buttery smooth and like you said, animations are so eye popping and clear now.
I always play Madden just to carry over till MLBTS comes out, but with NG, I may skip MLB and just play Madden all year and use MLB 20 as a break.
