Available to download for PS5 too

Is it the full playable game or just a small file placeholder?

gameplay is solid, graphic look great, animations look good (some new animations).. Franchise Mode is trash especially stats are not accurate like Cam Newton has 51 passing TD with 13 ints, Top Elite RB has very low stats : around 200 rushing attempts with at least 1,100 in 16 games they played. Come On EA, go tweak stats more accurate like real life.. no way, Cam Newton has that kind of stats like real life.. Cam Newton playing average this year for Patriots

i did it for you. Allen and Diggs didn't show their next gen stats in their pregame

The foot planting and animations are so good.
The new foot planting and smooth running is what I've been asking for, for years.

You seeing the foot planting from offense & defensive players? Specifically defensive guys in coverage?

Yep. Seems to be everyone on the field. It's fantastic. Reminds me of PS2 movement, but better.
You can ever see how fast a player accelerates. Seems like some accelerate faster than others.

Downloading it now, does it look visually better than the current generation version!?

Yes, but don't expect to be blown away by any major change to the graphics themselves, but the lighting is a massive improvement.
Also, hitting a cutback lane feels great. No foot chopping causing you to be tackled when you should already be by the defender.

Thanks man, would appreciate any video if anyone posts too...looks like it’ll be awhile before I get my hands on a ps5

New to Xbox. I have a series s, can I DL the next gen update while my system is off? Gotta go to work but I'd like it to be ready when I get home, but don't want the system on all day.

not sure if Xbox series S has same one like PS5 have Rest Mode while game is downloading when people go work or go somewhere

So, sidelines and environment (crowd). True to selling points?
Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk

some Yes, some No.. Franchise Mode can be selling point if EA improve it more deeper. i guess online H2H is also selling points.. Gameplay, Presentation are more important to people
The receivers routes are so much more realistic looking. You can see how when they turn it's not on a dime. It just pretty much looks like real player movement
Also it really seems like acceleration matters and speed parity feels great.

Love the sound of this but it's funny hearing it lol. "Reminds me of movement from 3 generations ago!".
Just played through a full game, Carolina @ Seattle (in light rain), and noticed a lot of new things:
    1) DJ Moore on a third down purposefully “pushed” his route passed the first down mark. I can’t remember receivers in the last generation ever being this aware of their surroundings.
    2) Maybe its just the newness of the game, but graphically the lighting adds so much. The pop of the silver on Carolina’s helmet, the way the matte blue of Seattle’s helmet reacts so differently is incredibly impressive.
    3) Body types feel reworked. I don’t know how to explain it, but players feel distinctly separate from their pads. It’s very noticeable in the folding of cloth on players’ jerseys and the way that pads sit on LBs and defensive lineman. With that being said, lineman across the board look substantially smaller (could be nothing though).
    4) Playing on all-star, the secondary lit me up. 5 picks, and I’d say three of them were the defense baiting me into bad throws. Safeties (could just be Adams in general) just felt so much more impactful than in the ps4 version.
    5) The controller on the ps5 is simply wonderful for this. A big back navigating through the trenches just feels right.
    6) Receivers like Anderson finally feel like the speedsters they should. They don’t just feel like a turbo boost, but they feel as they should when running routes across LBs. There’s a parity that just hasn’t existed for some time now.
That’s what stands out immediately but overall an improvement over current gen.

Yeah theres a standby mode. I found out one day when I was at work and still able to remote play, and download games via the app. Theres an option to manage and download games via the app. I just checked my Series X remotely and it's already started the update.
    munky1307
Where did you download it from? Or did it update automatically?

I've got the disc version...if you go onto the PS5 dashboard for the game you'll see on the right hand side there's an option to upgrade to PS5 - just select that and confirm the 0 price and set it away to download.
Finished one game on All Pro default sliders, the best thing about the game is the player movement, it looks and feels really good, overall gameplay is better. To me the graphics aren't that much better than current gen, players skin and pants are just shinyer, the crowd looks better. The side lines are better but not anything special, everything outside of gameplay is copy and paste.
They don't do a good job at capturing the feel of an NFL presentation, everything is rushed, at the end of quarters and the two min warning, wipes come in before a tackle is even fully completed. I really wasn't that impressed, I see why its a free upgrade.
This feels amazing so far on the install game. The cuts and feel are a drastic improvement over the previous generation. Graphics aren't a huge leap, but the details are greatly improved.
Only issue so far is that it seems cut scenes and replays are still doing 30 fps. I was really hoping for 60.
    PhillyPhanatic14
Ya.... sitting here reading impressions while knowing my xbox won't be here for 3 more weeks lol.

At least you have one coming. I can't even find stock to buy one...
Sidelines are deff improved, at the end of the play they showed an assistant coach I’m assuming and it was a woman, I was shocked to see her, then I went to replay to see if she was actually there and nope she’s not there so she is just a cutscene. I was playing as the rams btw

I’ve always felt the PS2 movement was so much better than PS3 and anything since then. Players had weight and I felt it gave you more control. This interests me. Maybe I will have to check out Madden again! Of course EA Pass wouldn’t let me play it last time due to a bug on their end.
I'm seeing a lot of new animations. Before the play, defensive players do little mannerisms, and I just saw a completely new fumble animation.
I know I've said it, but player movement is all the difference in the world. It creates so many new things. Like you don't even have to hit juke because if you make a cut, the animation is so good you can get by defenders sometimes.
I was also able to make a few nice punt returns and it's definitely because of the better player movement.

That's what it feels like, only better. It plays a huge part in the running games, especially for cutbacks, and WR route running is thing of beauty.

I play with QUICK presentation ON
The washes and graphics are horribly VERY MUT influences rather than TV and i can not stand them

having a full 60fps throughout ps4 version im wondering how they could have not gotten it to the same esp when the graphics are ONLY marginally better.
I’m lucky enough to have both systems, I tried the Ps5 version first because it downloaded quicker. I saw improved. Animations, better crowd and sound, slightly better player visuals on players. You can get cut scenes at 60fps but you have to turn your console screen video output to 1080p which sucks. I hope they find a way to get cut scenes to run at 4k 60fps like gameplay.

I said the same thing when Madden 21 dropped...The presentation is just not realistic. The pregame is WWE, arcadey, MUT influenced...However you want to describe it. It is just bad...And actually MUT intro with each teams top 3 player cards is better.
Why do they insist on showing highlights from a game that hasnt even been played yet in the pregame montage.
The wipes are also just horrendous....Whoever his in charge of that department probably hasnt watched an NFL game
    1st impressions...
Graphics are improved but not a major difference
    Player models are better
Player movement is much better! Way more realistic. The pace of the game flows better. Players feel like they have weight to them & momentum seems to matter. Not seeing the twitchy robotic movement we're used to. This is the biggest improvement by far!
The running game has never felt better! Noticing some nice subtle new animations. You can run see the running lanes a lot better due to the new player movement
CPU QB play is much better
Inaccurate passes happen more often on default sliders which is nice
Sidelines look better but not to the degree I was expecting. They still have generic player models mixed in with actual on field player models smh. Really EA? Still much better than what we've had to deal with for decades. Going forward the sidelines need to react to the action on the field in real time.
The audio definitely pops out at you
Playing with the PS5 Dual Sense you can feel the game. Very nice!
I'm digging the new play call menu
The trenches need improvement. Players still warp & get sucked into 2 man blocking animation sequences especially with double team blocking. This has to go!
Still a lot of clipping issues post play with players clipping through body parts, stepping through players bodies after tackles, rolling through the legs of lineman who are engaged in 2 man blocking animation sequences, etc. This is a HUGE eyesore & kills all immersion every time I see it smh. This has to be cleaned up for Next Gen EA! Collision detection is a must for immersion! I really hope EA focuses on polishing the game. Madden will never have that Next Gen look until these clipping issues are addressed. It really holds the game back.
The ball STILL ghosts through stadium walls! I can't stand this! It kills all immersion every time I see it. I understand the ball ghosting through the crowd but at least stop it from going through stadium walls. You have to fix these type of details for Next Gen EA. As the game gets more realistic, these type of immersion killers stick out even more!
    More to come later...

2k is a lot better than Madden but the videos of the teams playing each other before the game are horrendous too.
I had to stop playing for now. But I am really looking forward to playing it later. I usually don't feel that way about games anymore.
The graphics are a slight improvement, but the lighting is where you see the big difference. There are also new body types. Now 6 in total.
That was something I wasn't allowed to say.
    munky1307
Do you have to have EA Play on PS5 to update? I currently have PS4 disk playing on PS5 but don’t see download option anywhere. Appreciate it all!

If you're on the PS5 home page, hover over Madden 21. Look to the right, you should see a box with Lamar in it that says, "free PS5 upgrade"
Scroll over and click that box.
Or, go to the Playstation store, scroll all the way down to PS5 games and it should be there as "free upgrade"

Just loaded up a quick game on the XSX.
Immediately noticed the player movement difference with ball carriers. It's impossible to not notice it. Turning finally feels realistic. This has definitely been the most notable improvement for me. There are some new animations sprinkled in as well which is nice.
Graphically, it isn't a huge step up but it looks cleaner. The field looks noticeably better, the lighting has improved quite a bit. Jerseys still look painted on (hopefully they get a touch-up next year).
Next Gen Stats (albeit it's early) are actually kind of cool and make sense for a video game. New play call screen is nice too (pretty big, but functional).

oh your xbox series x won't be here for 3 more weeks ? you mean you not able to find one to order it ? blame Ebay scalpers for order more units whenever it restock in stores like Gamestop, Walmart, Target, Best Buy beside Amazon.. Online is awful for people to order it due to stupid bots
Played 2 games, it finally feels “good”, players actually have weight and momentum, Julio Jones routes are crisp and precise compared to lesser wrs. The next gen stats while a good idea are implemented poorly IMO, the replays feature cuts to like 4 or 5 different angles which looks bad. Wish ea would just watch an NFL game and copy that presentation.
Also noticed we are back to no mouth pieces
Graphically bot a big upgrade but the game already looked decent.

yep gameplay is solid especially movement, foot planting. i am disappointing with Franchise Mode especially player stats are ridiculous awful like Cam Newton has 51 passing TD with 12 ints.. Elite RB like Derrick Henry and Dalvin Cook had less than 200 rushing attempts with 1,000 rushing yards

Sorry if this has been answered, but I was able to get a Series X and my buddy I play franchise with hasn't yet. Will we be able to continue our franchise with me on next gen and him on One X?

I tried this on Series X. The cutscenes are still 30 fps.
Im still at work, but I have watched a few videos...The Next Gen Stat Replays are off to me. It seems to cinematic...Like the opening zoom in and out before the ball is snapped between the o and d lines. Then the different angles cut and pasted together...Why not show one continuous shot and then show the same play in whole from a different angle
    On PS5
    QUICK ONE HALF IMPRESSIONS
-players feel like they have weight to them
-running w/ball reminds me of 2k foot plantings amazing
-route running by a TE/WR is diff, well done
    -sidelines/crowd is well done
-nextgen stat pop up is cool
Everything else the same but foundation improved
    ehh
Is it also good for CPU running backs or do they still stutter around and do silly things instead of running in a straight line when they have a huge hole?

    no herky jerky BS
guys have weight to them now
In terms of visuals, honest to god you could tell me this was Madden for the PS4 and I’d believe you. (Take this with a grain of salt as I’m playing at work and haven’t had a chance to try it on my 4K TV yet)
Where the game really shines for me is the players weight, feel and the way they move. Everything seems more fluid and “controlled” when moving with your player. I’m loving the route running by the receivers and how smooth it feels to pull off moves in open space.
Other than that, I’m glad this was a free upgrade cause I’d be pissed if I had to pay $70 for this. I’m going to enjoy it for sure, but it’s not a huge leap at all.

I'm noticing all of these next gen stat graphics are based on the 2019 season. For anyone that gets a chance to play CFM, can you see if these same 2019 graphics appear in 2021? I assume they wouldn't refresh for 2020 stats and that they would just totally remove them in CFM, but i'd love to be wrong.
It takes you into the Ravens - Chiefs game with snow. Intros are cut scenes, like the stat popups, gameplay definitely feels better with respect to player movement.
Clicked on franchise and it asks if you want to convert, which goes very quickly.
Going to play a franchise game soon on default AP just to see how it plays vs playing with my adjusted AM sliders.

So anyone with a PS5 care to comment on people saying Series X looks better?
Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk

I’d love to play (servers down) but idk how anyone could comment unless they have both.
Blessed enough to have both the PS5 and Series X, I played the PS5 version and the visuals def. look better, sharper, cleaner on my LG CX. The sidelines are better but could def use work still. Especially jarring is seeing two identical twin cameramen standing next to each other. I guess in EA's "living world" twins also take the same career paths.
One thing I love is the foot planting and movement. Definitely a huge improvement there, players have a weight to them that was not there in past gen. Also really like the QB calls and big hits coming through the speaker on the Dualsense controller, although hearing Rodgers say "huthuthuthut" before the snap on every single play is a bit tiresome.
Currently DL the Series X, so I will update and see in my opinion which version is better visually.

I may be in the minority but am really enjoying the upgrade. Will definitely hold me over until next years game comes out but it seems like they got a solid start.
Graphically it isn't a huge leap over last-gen, but that should be expected.
First game on a new console tends to not have significant graphical upgrades. Graphics tend to get better once the devs are able to unlock more of the console's potential.
And also, we are pretty close to the law of diminishing returns on graphics. Each gen, the graphics get closer to being less of a bump. It's just the way hardware is nowadays.
And Madden is already a very good looking game. But I'm sure they will get better just as they did last gen.
Haven't played Madden in 10 years but got a copy of the PS4 version for cheap just to try out the PS5 version and I'm glad I did. I was not really impressed with the PS4 version, although I thought it's definitely the best looking football game I've ever played, I couldn't stand the erroneous and sloppy player control movement. I was constantly making cuts I did not intend to make. This may be attributed to my lack of Madden style gameplay. The PS5 version is worlds better in every aspect of gameplay. It feels so much more organic and player control and movement is much tighter but not twitchy. The haptics and trigger resistance on the dualsense is sublime, being engaged as a lineman and "feeling" the resistance is damn cool. Being strictly an offline franchise guy, I hope the CPU AI holds up. Full disclosure I'm a NFL 2k5 Stan, hopefully I can finally let it rest in peace

I'd be inclined to agree if NBA 2K21 on next gen didn't look leaps and bounds better than the current gen iteration.
Don't get me wrong, next gen Madden looks great, but I guess I'm a little selfish with wanting even better graphics lol
Side note; The snow does look absolutely amazing.

I’ll say this, I played 3 games on regular Madden last night and thought the game looked good.
Playing the “next gen” version and visually there’s almost no difference. From screen shots it looks like player skin yokes look better but in a bubble there’s no difference visually.
Now gameplay wise, it feels AWESOME. Player momentum feels better, players running routes and cutting feels superb. This also makes the running game feel good with the cuts and acceleration. Only player one game. Need to play more tonight.
Watching the Packers/Falcons stream and it seems like the new momentum/foot-planting/weight of the players has eliminated most of the really bad DB movements we see on Xbone/PS4. Hopefully this is a sign that pass coverage will be way better next-gen. No more CBs doing a 360 vs slants for no reason or reacting a full 1-2 seconds late on a cut from the WR.
It does seem like WRs get a little bit of a boost on cuts that DBs don't get but I need to see more gameplay.
Just one game but Matt Ryan (CPU) is 4/11 passing and I believe all 7 incompletions have been thrown away out of bounds. Also an awkward long Gurley run where he goes for about 25 yards in space and he's covering the ball with both arms the entire way. I imagine that's a pretty easy fix for the devs.
This was an awesome thing to wake up to this morning. Downloading it now on my Series X. Question for everyone who has it downloaded already. Did your console download a completely new file? Bc I was expecting just an update to the original game but it's downloading a whole 47GB file. Looks like I'm gonna have to delete the regular Xbox One Madden!

Yeah EA isn’t using smart delivery so like Cold War there are two versions of the game.

Are any of the little bugs still present in the gameplay, like the A.I. QB dropping back forever?

Do I have to copy Madden 21 from my Xbox One to my Series X to then get the new next gen version or will it just allow me to download it knowing I bought the digital version on my One?
I am in a 32 user cloud franchise so want to keep the game on the One X without jeopardizing it. Thanks.
Can those who have played on both systems comment on the DualSense controller? I know the PS5 will be behind slightly in graphics but I think the new controller could really offer something special if utilized correctly. Thanks!

The cadence and running audio also comes out of the controller which is kinda cool.

Haha but that is Madden though my man.
Another play I had was Madden in a nutshell. Beautiful 80 yard run by Rojo, awesome replays, next gen stats. The announcers acted like I scored a TD (I didn't lol).
Glad to hear most people are enjoying the upgrade so far. I was watching a game from the broadcast view and it looked really good. Honestly it would be almost real if it weren't for the secondary pre-snap.
The secondary pre-snap needs a major overhaul, DB's are not robots that just point from their stance occasionally. Safeties need to roam around more and they usually aren't even in a base stance before the snap unless they are in man. A lot of them stand up tall. But CB's are the worst, why are the corners always facing the line of scrimmage from a base stance even when they are playing 5-10 yards outside a bunch formation. They should be turned toward the WRs. I think after the snap zone turns look good and even man-man but dang, this would be like all the DL being in a 4 point stance every play.
I have the digital version of Madden 21 for PS4, but I can’t get the upgrade on PS5. It’s telling me the disc is required???
    Anyone else finding this?

Graphically it isn't a huge leap over last-gen, but that should be expected.
First game on a new console tends to not have significant graphical upgrades. Graphics tend to get better once the devs are able to unlock more of the console's potential.
And also, we are pretty close to the law of diminishing returns on graphics. Each gen, the graphics get closer to being less of a bump. It's just the way hardware is nowadays.
And Madden is already a very good looking game. But I'm sure they will get better just as they did last gen.

This is something I've been saying since we first saw next gen footage (not for Madden but any next gen game). The improvements are going to be more subtle and in the details than previous gens, especially early on in the console cycle. I'm sure over time we'll see more substantial improvements to visuals, as with most console generations, but right now it's more about minor improvements that make for a better image overall. Things like better lighting, more details on the sidelines and in the crowd, better weather effect, etc. Hopefully next year there will be bigger improvements to graphics overall.

    Try deleting the PS4 version.
    Go to the Store.
    Filter by PS5 games.
    Select Madden.
    Add to Cart.

Thanks, but tried that and still the same. Tried on the PS app on my iPhone and it says unavailable to purchase.
Maybe they took it down because of the online bug?
I dunno if it's the lighting or what but the game graphically looks a lot better to me. I really dont know what else could really look much better.
Player movement is the star of the show for sure. The crowd has been the worst in any sports game so I really like how improved it is. Thought I wouldn't really care but the sidelines add so much to the atmosphere. The presentation all together is still pretty lame though IMO. I hate the wipes and general theme they went with.
I didnt get to play enough before work but real early impression is the cpu running back was a threat and QBs had errant throws. Not sure about coverage yet but those were my 3 game killers on past gen.
I'm so glad I stopped playing last gen in early september in anticipation of this game. If those things i touched on gameplay wise work out, I'm going to get a lot of play out of this.
Because I like many don’t have either console, I’m just relying on the feedback of those that do have one.
With that, Mod’s is there any way of separating feedback/impressions from just watching videos vs feedback/impressions from actually having/playing on a Next-Gen console?
I am not expecting a big leap here but for those who have it, I am really looking for this:
"Is EA heading in the right direction with the series?"
We all know that this game is not on par with the other sports titles but I am seeing some positives with the new and frequent patches.

The power of next-gen consoles allow enough memory for vast amount of data that is necessary each game, to use and pay off the Next Gen Stat integration. Thousands of new movement animations, etc.

Can you edit shoe color from the edit player screen in Next Gen?

Unfortunately not. Was really hoping for this in next gen. So tired of every player wearing the same shoe colors. Some guys wear TC shoes. Some white. Some black etc. madden is so far behind when it comes to equipment

For sure.. cuts to the fans is nice and I really love the sideline interactions, I ran out of bounds with my RB and my punter put his arms out to stop my momentum. Just seems more immersive and the sound seems much better.

    ugh
Series X - I'm liking the improved lighting and sidelines and crowds but damn, the frame rate really took a hit especially in between plays where it looks sub 30 fps. During the play it's improved but doesn't look 60 fps. Definitely not as smooth as the Xbox One version. I'm not sure about the animations, and the ball trajectories seem different as in for the worse. Bullet passes seemed to have more arc to them. I did notice more errant throws though.
Playstation 5 - played it briefly and just on initial eye test it looked better and ran smoother. There's the haptic feedback too.
I dunno man, last gen Madden (xbox one on the series X) was pretty much perfect for me. I'm probably going to stick with that for my franchise or with Playstation 5.

Yep. Just move to the ... and press X, and the option to play the other full version is there.
    Yoyi121784
    \]
Update: So I don't know if it's just my TV, but the Series X version is alot darker while the PS5 version is super bright, along with the dualsense haptics, I am preferring PS5 version at the moment. I also could not see better detail or graphics in the Series X version, even zooming in while in replay mode.
I am very very happy with how the player movement feels. Gameplay feels so good I could see myself playing this online for the first time since ps2.

Given what I’ve seen in my albeit short time with this version I’d have to say yes. For once I feel like I’m not squinting to make it feel like real football. Don’t get me wrong, legacy issues are still here, but this feels like a substantial step in the right direction.
My biggest concern though is the lack of commitment to one vision for the series. Next Gen Stats for example is a great little feature that has room for massive improvement. The one thing that feels “off” is the fact that the game insists on using these ridiculous camera angles to setup the moment. The game feels at odds with itself. On one hand its striving for real football while also catering to this overblown, loud, bombastic presentation that really doesn’t exist in the NFL.
    Still though, I’m optimistic...

After 1 game the biggest improvement to me is the player movement. The game plays the same to me as sliders are still a must but the player movement feels weighted and more realistic. The new player models are better too.
Okay so I played one full game, Cowboys @Lions. Graphically it looks a little better. More crisp and I think that has to do with the lighting. Even in an indoor venue like Ford Field the lighting was fantastic. I'm in the middle of an outdoor game right now and day games are finally bright! Anyway, back to the first game I played. Player movement and cuts.....holy crap......this has made all the difference in the world. I took a toss to the right with Swift and he took the corner by the sidelines so naturally and smooth. I was able to gain like 40 yds on the play. That NEVER happened before. Usually he'd make some weird hop cut or run out of bounds. Receiver route running is just a thing of beauty to watch. Sideline interactions are drastically improved. There was a play where Ezekiel Elliott was tackled by the Lions sidelines and 2 of the Lions players helped him up. That was really cool to see. As far as replays go. Can we please have normal looking replays from here on out?!? More realistic broadcast like replays would go so far. Right now the camera is wayyyyyy too close and has been for years. It's not realistic at all. The only other negative I have is that cut scenes and replays are at 30fps instead of 60. Not a HUGE deal but it is a little jarring when the gameplay is smooth and then you get that drop in frame rate as the cutscenes or replays kick in. Overall, this has been a very good upgrade in my opinion. The player movement alone makes this upgrade a success for me.

It looks nice but sub 60 fps kills it for me. There's no way the XSX, given what's under the hood, should be that jittery. Hopefully this is something that can be patched.

I just played a full game and its solid during gameplay. Cutscenes drop back down to 30fps which is pretty jarring.
The player movement is so much better. I was able to complete passes without superman db's or linebackers as well. Had a long td when I split cover 2 which would not happen in last gen. Usually that pass would be completed but one of the safeties would turn on a dime and make the tackle. Game feels much better from a momentum and movement standpoint
Broadcast cam looks soooooo good.EA needs to take a cue from 2k and give us the option to turn off all player indicators and video game crap. This games too pretty for all that doo doo. lol

I was able to pick it up this morning from Target for $25.32. It was already on sale for $29.99(both versions), then they also had a target circle reward you could apply. This was for the ps4 version, but worth a shot for Xbox.

After the snap it looks like it gets up into the 50s at times but not that solid 60fps I enjoyed with the backwards compat last gen version. Everything before and after that is like you said, jarring.
I'm gonna dive into the PS5 version.
I only got to play one full quarter of the exhibition game while it was downloading. It's a game for people who already really like Madden. If you hate it or feel that it's just okay then it's not going to move the needle for you.
I expect Comp players to complain relentlessly and probably get movement tuned and ruined.
In the one full quarter that I played I didn't see any instances of AI controlled players doing anything that looked out of place due to poor animations triggering or the AI get hung up not knowing what to do. Obviously I have to play a lot more to see how this holds up.
I will definitely have to start from scratch on my All Madden sliders, the pass rush seems to be much better on default now. Default defense seemed much better across the board.
I imagine that graphics and presentation enthusiasts will be disappointed but for me they are great.

I don't think there are any settings that will resolve this issue as it's not your tv, it's the game. I've seen these types of drops in past gen games on both consoles and it's something that EA has to fix via a patch.

PS5 version downloading now for me. As you can see, given my internet speed, it's gonna take a while.

Off topic I guess, but something I've noticed between both consoles and having speeds up to 1TB is that the PS5 appears to download games quicker. Idk if it's supposed to be that way, but it's something I've noticed from my own personal experience.
    Mixed bag for me
Gameplay feels better, a lot better, and the graphics are a little bitter. The lighting is a lot better, the Raiders home game bizarro world lighting is fixed.
Had I not played NBA 2k21, I would probably be impressed. But the reality is Madden dev team is simply not as talented, and the unacceptable frame drop during cut scenes is a big thing to point and wonder, how?
I've only played very little though, so, I can't exactly write this off as a failure. We're going to have to see what they do in Madden 22, but this all begs the question, how can 2k studios pull of such an impressive next gen product and the madden team cant?
I think the Madden dev team isn't in crisis mode... they're just mediocre.

Honest assessment hot take is it basically what current gen Madden 21 should have been. Smoother gameplay and motions, better play calling system, next gen stat stuff. I do not notice ANY graphical upgrade. Imagine the rest of the modes outside of the Exhibition start up game are untouched from Current Gen.
With that said, I will accept this years version as a solid game during a global pandemic to get me through til MAdden 22. If this game doesn’t improve MAJORLY next year, from basically breathtaking graphics, to a complete franchise overhaul that mimicks NBA2K and The Show, a presentation overhaul, this is going to be the death of simulation football in the new console era. This is nothing but a slightly above average PS4 game. Madden is the most complacent franchise I’ve ever seen in video gaming, and people aren’t going to accept complacency in this new generation.

This is almost 90% correct, and I would echo the thoughts here. If Madden 22 isn't significantly better and addresses new frame issues on XSX, NBA will be my new go to sports game. FIFA makes this game look like a last gen game, it's totally unacceptable.
It makes a lot of sense why there was zero hype from EA about this game. It's what the last gen should have been.

Also, is anyone familiar w ea play on ps5? I’ve never used it but I hear it’s $5/mo. I wouldn’t mind paying $5 to try it out.

That's how it feels, but with better foot planting and physicality.
Also, yes. EA Play, $5 a month. I just downloaded NHL 21 to try it out the other day. Not a bad deal if you like to play a lot of EA games.

The game plays pretty well. However, playing other games on this new console have me less impressed by this one. I went back and forth between the current gen download and the new one trying to discern major differences in appearance. Besides the lighting, they seem negligible to my eye. I've been reading a lot of the posts here and wondering if I was playing the same game. For me, it's a marginal upgrade, at best. This game feels a lot like playing the current gen on the new console (series X). Cutting is better as well as the general smoothness of the game. It's just super disappointing when you see some of the same issues from last gen still here. I really hate to still see AI players running out of bounds instead of turning up field for larger gains.
Having directly compared the two, the PS5 version looks and plays better than the Series X continuing that trend of third party games performing better on Sony's machine despite having lower specs.
And here I got the Xbox Series X for third party games and Playstation 5 for it's exclusives.

My question is how come they get a pass because of the pandemic?

Yep. Seems to be everyone on the field. It's fantastic. Reminds me of PS2 movement, but better.
You can ever see how fast a player accelerates. Seems like some accelerate faster than others.

    FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek::eek::eek:
Can't wait to get the PS5!!!

I'd never knock Xbox, as I wouldn't ever get in to Console Wars....but the haptic feedback PS5 has, it's been a game changer.
I didn't notice extreme graphical change(Wondering if PS5 bug is causing a certain patch to be downloaded?), but instantly felt the change in the controller. Tackling actually FEELS thru it. So glad I got a PS5, it adds such a new element to games.

Sorry if this has been asked, I downloaded the game, but are you guys able to connect to EA servers on PS5, it keeps telling me they are down?
PS5 servers have been down apparently. Reports are that it's a bug that needs to be fixed I think.

There's a bug on PS5 for it to be online, so no servers yet, waiting for a patch.

Playing on XSX and can also confirm the dips in fps during cutscenes and celebrations. Frames during gameplay are fine, but like others have mentioned, it is jarring when you see the dip in the cutscenes. Hopefully this gets patched and can any PS5 users confirm that this is happening with them?

There is a dip during cut scenes and other non-gameplay on PS5 but not a pronounced as XSX and the actual gameplay seems is at a higher and more stable framerate.

Is the AI any better with things like playcalling or adjustments, pursuit angles?

Playcalling and decisions I've seen no improvement whatsoever. Still had the AI calling timeouts while I'm taking knees and such.

The issue with 3rd party games is that MS finalized the Dev. Kits late. The issue with the PS5 performing better won't be an issue in 6 months.
    Things will be patched.

It's hard to tell right now, but what I am seeing is that since everyone on the field has the new footwork, some players who accelerate faster in real life will beat their man off the ball quicker.
The differentiation between acceleration and speed is more noticeable now.
In the couple games I played, the CPU actually seemed to understand how time works at the end of a half or game.
    Played it. Not impressed.
The new movement looks good...BUT, when the movement transitions in to the same old terrible madden animations, it's more jarring than ever.
Graphics aren't a big leap. I expected more from the weather effects.

Never had an overall issue with the graphics more so the face scan tech that made every player look bizzare. Overall proportions were never right.

Dude that sucks so bad lol.
My wife and I talked about moving to a suburb of our city and the first thing I looked into was internet quality. It wasnt good and I told her hard pass. I knew for sure we were meant to be together because she immediately understood. No additional conversation was needed lol.

Off topic, but I’ve lived in the city my entire life and now for a few years in the suburbs. No way in hell I’d go back to living in the city after having all this space, peace and quiet and quality of life.

The new faces in next-gen FIFA are incredible. I know they wear helmets most of the time, but if they can get them to that level, that would be much more immersive. And maybe show more cutscenes of the players faces up close, even in the helmets.
How do I know if ps 4 or ps 5 version is loaded. I see all my roster moves are still there, did they port over from 4?

Could never live in the city. Don't understand the appeal. Maybe if you're someone that likes to go out all the time, but other than that, terrible.

I barely play fifa but also purchased on sale a couple of days ago at Walmart. Would you say it’s overall more impressive than madden?

Did anyone saves transfer over from ps4? Mine haven't. I'm wondering if it has something to do with servers being down.
Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
Well, I got it downloaded and played through the exhibition game which felt nice, from what I could tell the movement seemed just overall more natural vs the last gen version. Hard to have a real impression because that exhibition was clearly on easy mode even after I set my experience level to advanced. Not really willing to play more until I can connect to the servers and update the rosters though, since I only play franchise and don't want to start with the launch rosters.

More in Madden NFL 21
