  1. Am I just an old fogey, or is anyone else kinda disappointed that it's been years since they've acknowledged rock music? I don't dislike hip hop, but good lord, it's not the end all be all.
I guess I am an old fogey because "back in my day" there were rock tracks predominantly featured on the soundtracks as well as hip hop. And it was cool, because it got people turned on to things they may have never discovered on their own. Now it's just boring.
It's not that important, just something that mildly irritates me.

I hear you. I even listen to rap/hip-hop probably 50% of the time I listen to music. I hate that there is zero variety. I hate country music, but even some of those songs were catchy enough to get me to listen to it outside of the game. Good news is that I will just play Spotify through my stereo when in the menus etc when the songs get old.
I'm 21 and I don't know any of the artist besides Snoop Dog. So if you're older and haven't heard of any of them don't feel bad.
They did say the songs were tailored to the NFL with lyrics and such. Ala Madden 2004.
Just a friendly reminder the ps4 and xbox1 can play spotify over your game audio.

I'm a huge hip hop head but I wouldn't usually classify much of what is usually on the Madden 20 soundtrack as hip hop. For pretty much any video game I play, if I want some music in the background I pull out my phone and fire up a playlist on spotify. Outside of the Joey Bada$$ and Token tracks on 20's soundtrack I probably won't listen. With my taste in music though I don't really have the expectation that any newer video game will have a soundtrack that I'm really in to. I don't ever go in to a game expecting to love the soundtrack because I tend to listen to more obscure artists and bands. Obviously from a business standpoint there's a reason games go with the soundtracks they do.

Update: Seven songs in and it's laughably bad. Worse than you could imagine.

Props for getting through 7 songs. I'm gonna hit up that nfl films playlist again this year on spotify.
Garbage. As always, I'll turn all of those off and only play the NFL Films tracks. I just wish they had the classic NFL Films tracks without the modernized beats dubbed over them.

Nah not an old fogey at all you have your taste.
Hip hop/Rap is music’s highest selling genre and one of the largest exports they’re just going where the cash is most likely.

Was just getting ready to post the same. There is a huge difference between hip hop and rap music.
The Show does let you import your own on PS4, but it's clunky.  You have to ferry the file over on a USB drive, but yes, it can be done.
Why CD's were nixed for PS4 is beyond me.
Another year where all the music fits into one genre and because there's only 22 of them you will be sick of them by September. I always hope this will be the year Madden will deliver a soundtrack that rivals Fifa's, which has nearly double the tracks and features more than just one style of music. I don't hate rap/pop, but that's not all I want to listen to when playing football.
Another year where I'll mute it and play music on my phone/bluetooth speaker

This is true and false. Hip Hop/Rap and Pop is music's most popular streaming genre. In terms of physical/digital album sales Rock and Pop are more popular. And in terms of concert revenue/attendance Rock wins out. In other words, there really is no one most popular music Rock, Pop and Hip Hop/Rap are all the most popular genres.
Madden's audience probably skews more towards Hip Hop/Rap but it's probably not that wide of a gap.
I've gotta say, though, I didn't hate it like I thought it would. Ever since like 16 or 17, I've had to mute most of it just so I didn't drive myself crazy trying to fill my ears with concrete so that I didn't ever have to hear again.
I'm not the world's biggest fan of the genre, but I've yet to hear a song that was so awful it made me want t break my laptop in half. This year I've just kind of bobbed my head along with it or forgotten it was even there.

The biggest insult of all is you didn't even notice it, LOL

I'm 49, I remember the good ol' days when rap was just about poppin' a cap and drinking liquor..nowadays it's just about dancing and mumbling about money or something
I know some of the artists on here being a big music guy especially rap but not many
    I know
    Snoop
Denzel Curry amazing but not the right song to pick of his
    Wiz Khalifa
    Jay Park
    Lil Skies
    Desiigner
    Dillon Francis
    Rico Nasty
    Joey Bad***
There isn’t really anything spectacular here I really like Denzel Wiz Snoop Joey and Dillon but it’s not even there best songs so...

I'm 35 not sure if that qualified for the old fogey club lol. But yea I can't stand mumble rap today, it's so painful to listen to. I gave this soundtrack a chance, there was 1 or 2 songs that weren't bad but the rest was hot garbage.

YOU KIDS N UR DERN RAP MUSIC! BACK IN MY DAY WE HAD GOOD CHARLOTTE, BLINK 182, AND THE ALL AMERICAN REJECTS IN OUR MADDEN GAMES! I remember each year I would walk to the game store, EB GAMES WE CALLED IT! we walked in the brutal heat, NO AIR CONDITIONING! it was 10 miles up the mountain, WE USED TO PUSH A HOOP WITH A STICK - STICK HOOP PUSHING WE CALLED IT! hehe~ I remember old Johnny Smith JOHNNY BOY WE CALLED HIM! hehe well, old Johnny boy fancied a young gal down tha road and decided he was more interested in gals than his buddies and madden. I never saw old Johnny since that day. Some say he was drafted into the army and died at Gettysburg, a southerner got him... CONFEDERATES WE USED TO CALL THEM! Hehe, well, I hear the old triangle ringing from across the way, guess thats mama tellin its time to turn off the old lanturn and put away the typewriter for the night... You darn rascals
I would much rather prefer a mix of genres instead of all hip hop. 2017 had a good mix and they all usually did but what's with the all hip hop the last two games?
I'm an old man at 43 who's never heard of any of these songs or artists. Let's have a feature where you can load your own taste of music in the game. Give me music from the 70's thru the 90's.

    The sountrack is still trash.

Its along the lines with the game still isnt what it could be. M20 still has a ways to go to catch up to what it used to be. I do like the game play in 20 but everything else is still stale and needs revamping. Soundtrack included. Ive no idea why they cant have a mix of genres like they used to.
This game seems to always include the words "used to".
Soundtrack is ok, better than last yrs I think.... I normally just turn on the classic Madden themed music. Already heard the Snoop song 3 times and already annoyed.
Would be nice to have some variety with different types of music instead of rap, but it's Madden (wasn't expecting much in this department).

if you have amazon music, not sure about the other music apps, but you can play your own music with that app while the music is playing Least on XBOX one I know you can. I play the NFL Films music by Sam Spence and play that when I play.

Actually, I was bored and felt like doing some creative writing - I dont like the new soundtracks and I havent for quite some time.
Madden 03 was far and away the best madden soundtrack ever. 04 was alright, and it was either 07 or 08 that was pretty good as well. Once they made the hard switch to the x360 generation of consoles, it was tie to mute the music and listen to mp3s on the computer.
If we had to discuss best soundtracks in ea EVER - NCAA football 06, NCAA MVP baseball 05, and Madden 03, in that order. Not much rap in any of them, and the rap they had was actually decent.

Yeah that one you linked is terrible,. I'd rather hear the rap I don't even like rap
Maybe I'm old now (even though I'm only 28), but I've got no clue who 90% of the artists in this Maddens sound track are. What is worse, I can barely stand listening to half of it. Thankfully you can turn it off.
At what point will they go back to a healthy mix of genres?
