Madden 20 Mods - Installation Guide From That Franchise Guy and Best Mods for Real 2020 NFL Season

The best part about Madden 20 was that it was on PC and was eventually able to be modded via the Frosty tool and a dope community of creators. There is no such tool available as of yet for Madden 21 (but there’s still a general belief it will eventually happen) — by the way, this is another area where the EA team could do better supporting creators by making it easier to get up and running on the new game. Regardless, if you want to know how to install Madden 20 mods, that’s partly why I’m putting together this video. It’s obviously much cheaper to just play Madden 20 if you’re on the fence about Madden 21, plus there’s still people actively supporting Madden 20, which is the added bonus.

How To Install Madden 20 Mods

Thankfully, it’s really not that hard to mod Madden 20 if you want to go down that path. That Franchise Guy walks you through how to do it in the video below.

Best Madden 20 Mods

As for “must have” mods that’s really all up to you. The Revival gameplay mod from Sabo is very popular. It was last updated at the end of August to include a version that just changes playbook/logic changes and leaves out gameplay modding. This means you get things like:

  • New gameplay scripts like no-huddle urgency, two-minute logic, timeout logic, ensuring AI uses more of playbooks, changing Chargers and Panthers to more updated playbook styles for 2020 season

This means you can use your own sliders/edits rather than be locked into Sabo’s mod. Otherwise, the normal gameplay mod has been mostly the same since early in the summer and that can still be downloaded.

Version 2.5 of the “Start Today” mod from Sinthros and co. is now live as of September 17 and, as the name implies, makes it so the 2020 NFL season is better re-created in Madden 20. This includes additions like:

  • Adding new field for Atlanta and Denver, updating Falcons’ uniforms, removing NFL 100 logo from helmets, updating tweets/news section, updating rosters and importing @Eli2Manningham’s 2021 NFL Draft class

We have previously highlighted college football mods for Madden 20, and moving into Madden 21 that will mostly be consolidated down to one mod (the two main ones were the CFB 20 mod and the D105 mod). There is no complete college football mod for the 2020 season as of yet, but D105 did put out their final update at the end of August (download link), and you can use all 108 of these teams online in friend vs. friend mode, which is a cool touch.

One other cool touch comes from aholbert, who has worked on putting out updated “stadium experiences” for Madden 20. Basically, he updated banners in the stadiums, updated the jumbotrons, re-did certain ads, touched up certain aspects of some stadiums and so on — most of which help update the game for the 2020 NFL season as well. You can see this mod in video form below:

This news post will also re-direct to an OS forum thread by aholbert that highlights links to various mods and tools that have been discussed here (and others I skipped for time purposes).

Lastly, I would say don’t be intimidated by this process if you’ve never modded a game before. I promise it’s not as scary as it may seem, and you can make this work if you really want to update your Madden experience. However, be warned, once you mod a game and realize how much better it can be in this form, it’s tough to go back to the old ways.

  1. Last year was my first time ever playing on PC with mods to a game. Definitely improved the out of the box experience.
Thank you for getting them all in one place!
Is there any compatibility issues that could occur, such as gameplay Mod X doesn't work with Stadium Mod Y?

Aholbert, feel free to add my enhanced render settings from the discord. I think it’s truly a must have. Can’t even play without it now LOL.

This right here saved my life LOL Must have!

I need you to post them on OS or somewhere else because I cant link the files on the discord to this thread.

Thanks for this. Was planning on buying Madden last year for PC but decided it was better off to wait and finish my last semester of my Masters Program.
Even one year off and not reading things up I feel lost with Mods and the like. So I appreciate this.

    No problem. Love the username.
The one in the OP is where most of the betas.. discussion happens. I will say, compared to last year, we’ve made a valid effort in helping people learn more this release than last year. Lots of people coming in with questions and getting their answers. :)

Added my fields and Tomba's roster to OP.

I plan on updating the roster to reflect beginning of the season but i had to get gameplay right first via attributes.
Right now my roster is perfect for play now just to get the real feel of football games and player movement. sabos edits are good for game logic but overall game speed and animation control is handled by my edit as well.
I try combining both but theres a disconnect between player speed and triggering of animations as the hard coding that sabo does conflicts with what i have sometimes but works wonderfully with his playbook logic edit though
PS4 user here..Gave up on Madden 20 some months ago as ..Ballcarriers Jukes were taken away...
Qb scrambling vanished ....and of course they removed game speed options in 20 version leaving a very sped up hyper “online gamers “ delight version which had me making roster acceleration and speed edits for every team if I wanted a product that vaguely looked like Football...
Could you give me some insight on how pc may make this game better...I’d love to play Madden as a somewhat realistic sim...I’m interested ...I’m also a Cpu vs Cpu guy ..especially since there is no more True coach mode as Madden remains entrenched in having you as “coach “ so your forced to physically use your joystick to kick field goals

you had me at ps4 user here...
I too want to know this, but I also want to know if I can get this game to run on a macbook pro
I think it needs to be said that between Sabo's Revival Mod, and the Start Today mod, you guys did more work than the entire EA/Tiburon Franchise team did for Madden 20/21 franchise mode.
Those mods in tandem provide a deeper experience than Madden 21 Franchise (pre-mods for 21). Great job guys
Are there any Playoff Expansion MOD‘s on either Madden 19 or 20 that allows you to add the new 7th Playoff team, thus adding 1 additional Wild Card Weekend game per Conference?
Greetings! I'm new-ish to Madden, very new to modding, into franchise mode player, and this is my first post in the OS forum -- so go easy on me! 😉
I'm looking for a way to edit rosters and edit player info/ratings (and maybe even create players?) in a program other than Madden with its clumsy UI. Does an app that could do this exist?
Unrelated to that, is there a way to download rosters into a spreadsheet (and ideally vice versa, though that's probably unlikely) other than exporting from the franchise mode via Madden Companion App and then grabbing them from MaddenExport or some similar site?
Sorry if this should be obvious to me, but like I said I'm a newb and am pretty overwhelmed by all the juicy stuff in this forum. Thanks! :)

There's a lot of tools for a lot of things. I'd advise you join the main Madden discords, we have all available tools/mods easy to find in these servers.

Thanks, sinthros! I was looking for the discord info, but it was posted incorrectly in another thread. See you around! :cheers444
