  1. I like that QB intro uses in game assets now. Hopefully that's not just a Thursday Night Football thing. It's gonna look cool seeing drafted QBs have the same thing as stock QBs. I hated that blank graphic from years past.
Everything in the Jordan Reed touchdown catch was awful. Being ruled a TD, going through the wall for the celebration, the instant replay clearly showing he dropped it... Ya, I know it's early footage, but...

Completely agree. Couple of years ago Deuce and I mentioned this in some threads. It's way better than actual video. Especially for rookies or if a qb gets traded.

Yea I’m hopefully chucking that up to just early build stuff. Besides that leading up to gameplay looked good. The gang tackles move with the momentum of the back which is nice . I love the qb animations during pre snap . Saw some new camera angles and the qb assets are awesome .

7:43 is a TD????? Also what is with Tiburon's obsession with showing the coach after plays? Three times they showed closeups of the coach's shoes, come on EA I mean really?

I think I remember hearing when you select a Coach (as opposed to owner in franchise mode it showed the coach more frequently.

That is understandable if you assume people are playing the game as it was designed , ie as a sort of RPG
In reality however many ( most ? ) people just pick their team and opt for the coach over owner so as to avoid all that silly ' set your hot dog price ' nonsense , and thus the constant emphasis on coaches grates , as it doesn't represent well a real NFL broadcast
Thank God for Player editing, the TKL rating when rated high causes a lot of “Suctioning” into these interactions.
    - at least its correctable through editing
Lastly before I hit me some “Church”!!!!!
    1) DL “Pursuit” rating must be lowered, a little too much hawking by the chunkies for my taste.
    2) If you’re like me and don’t like those “insta-disengages” by DL when RB gets to their side, give all OL 20+ pt Delta on STR rating vs DL
    - DL will reach TKL attempt more w/out disengaging from block interaction.
    Just some of my impressions
The QB intros are pretty good this year.
I don't know why that patty cake animation is still in when introducing the offense. It just looks dumb.
That Reed touchdown was just terrible and I hope that kind of thing gets fixed before release.
Why is it still easy to kick FG's. He misses the box completely and still makes the FG. I think if you don't get the marker inside the box then the kick should either go towards the right or left depending on where the marker lands.
Looks like Madden slowed down with better animations which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Looks like the running game has the potential to be fun. O-LINE looks the same. Seems the QBs animations and footwork received zero work. It's so far behind the rest of the game. I seriously hope it's overhauled for 20 as that's probably my biggest issue with the game.

Similar play happened in the cpu vs cpu patriots vs eagles video. Agholar drops the ball at the 1 as he was going out of bounds and they called it a catch. Wonder if it’s a bug or just maddens interpretation of the new catch rule. Hopefully it’s a bug that is fixed and not a bad interpretation. Both are just bad.

The patty cake animation on super manly, no frills lineman is one of the dumbest things ever. Imagine Joe Thomas or Taylor Lewan doing that. Silly.
I watched the Seahawks/Texans video and then as far as the Jordan Reed “touchdown” in this one.
I’ve seen enough. I’m not even going out of my way to redbox this game.
Watch 12:12 in video and CPU man defense vs the double drags and corner route. Great man defense with limited separation. Only reason 1 drag was wide open is LB got caught... I have to say I love the man defense by the CPU in these videos I have seen so far...
Edit: UH OH! 13:55 Out & up vs man defense has CPU stuck in mud again like last year...
the clipping and morphing going through walls is very troubling.
especially the going through the wall after a TD is jaw dropping. if they can fix that maybe they should use a different cut scene or something.
game play looks good, graphics also. game is a bit slow. is that a gameplay setting, cause the play by play seemed to be affected by it as well. the commentary seems a bit sluggish as well.
Sad that we're still seeing such generic football presentation. NFL and ESPN licenses mean nothing, we get a simple Thursday Night Primetime wipe to differentiate from all other games.... and the same old score widget across the top from the last 3/4 years. Presumably the presentation blog this week will just be the new celebration and QB stuff we've seen in this latest round of videos.
I was watching a video by Litzout, a competitive player, and he said game play has been slowed this year which will need getting used to.
Also, already talk from him that the competitive crowd won't like the new QB animations pre-play. His comment was, doesn't care how the game looks, only cares about how it plays.

Interesting..How it looks matters a lot because without an audience that prize money decreases in value.
Madden requires a balance of appearance and gameplay.
Streams of competitive games have live commentary over them. They also cut away to get reactions from the players in between snaps, so long as it's in HD I don't see it making a big difference.

I personally love that they did this with slowing game down! It was way too fast and unrealistic in years past imo. It has always animated better like this and because of RPM it's necessary to see the foot planting. BUT when edited and put to slow in past games it was very similar looking. I'll be interested to see the speed and acceleration ratings as it also seems to have been scaled in looking at some gameplay. People will get used to the speed and adjust. Then they will go back to 18 and be like WOW that was bad and way too fast. I also think for defense vs the run it is better and more realistic in reading gaps to go and make a tackle. Before if playing the MLB on fast it was almost a guessing game as USER would be in turbo from the handoff.
I just don't understand how the game can look so similar to how it did 4-5 years ago. Barely incremental improvements after years of development cycles. The change to the Frostbite engine was supposed to bring a big difference...we were excited about it for two years in advance. Where is it?
Other developers take 1-3 years and create entire new engines, systems, animations, worlds, and characters to create unique, mind-blowing games. That's not the way sports game franchises work, I know. They work on an established framework, usually flawed. Even The Show has legacy issues that fans complain about. I get that.
I just don't get how one company, for more than a decade, can hold the most lucrative exclusive license in sports gaming and do so little with it. I know competition breeds innovation and EA has little reason to go out of their way to take risks since they're basically printing money...but aren't they embarrassed? They don't seem to be.
Tbinking about it more. I'd have to imagine the WR drop and counting as a catch will be removed. Imagine the competitive guys losing 50k on a play like that. No way that happens. That will be fixed. Its ugly to imagine it's in the game at this stage but I bet it's gone by release.

its all about the bottom line. EA isnt willing to risk that by making huge gameplay changes. IM sure the producers and developers all have great ideas and huge aspirations. However there is a disconnect between the production team and the financial folks.
The one area where money is clearly spent is on marketing/pr/ and advertising. It seems that every year they find ways to rebrand things that have always or had already existed in the game in previous installments of Madden.
anyways Ill be getting the PC version this year, regardless. havent brought a Madden game in 3 years. Ive played the last 2 versions sparingly at my relatives house and I borrowed 18 for a couple of weeks thats it.
I don't see how anyone can say the player movement doesn't look better. The running animations are clearly improved and you can see RPM to an extent but I think when we actually feel it it will be such a breath of fresh air.
You can make an argument that the QB movement is still pretty bad though. Doesn't seem to match the RPM of other players. Drop backs need to be slowed down. But the PA looks pretty good. Maybe this will be fixed in the retail version.
    I seen improvement to:
    - The player movement, lot of instances where it will shine.
    - DB play in man was good. I seen the star CBs playing aggressive and I liked that.
    - Tackles are a fresh breath
    - game flow of players felt good
    - enjoyed the post TD celebration cam
    - seen positives and I do too get a 2k vibe with the new motion especially on kick offs.
    Cons/negatives :
    - The catch rule? Gotta be fixed
    - Safeties? Where are they what do they do. Seen to much easy Streaks and post routes converted. Dbs would be good but some plays you would expect safety help and they are MIA pretty much used as safety tackle valves. (Last man methodology)
    - Commentary makes me sick "down he goes!!" "Dropped for another by ___"
    - Maddens rating system is not set correctly for how the game functions. I will be working on a full make over roster. With very widespread ratings.
I want to see more FOOTAGE OF CPU SCRAMBLING QBS MANEUVERING IN POCKET WITH RPM AND THROWING PASSES

To me the updated player models and movement remind me a little of the 2K series. Did EA hire some of the *animation staff from Take Two?

I was thinking the same thing. Player models have that tall square-ish NFL2K5 look. Seems to have taken a step back.
