Konami Announces Exclusive Partnership with AS Roma & Releases New eFootball PES 2021 Trailer Featuring the Team

When EA announced they were not renewing their exclusive license with AS Roma, it was only a matter of time before we heard an official announcement from Konami.

Today, Konami announced their long-term exclusive partnership with AS Roma and posted a new eFootball PES 2021 trailer featuring the team in action. The AS Roma team name, crest and official kits will be fully exclusive to the eFootball PES series.

The long-time home of AS Roma, Stadio Olimpico, will also be included in eFootball PES 2021. Konami and AS Roma intend to take full advantage of their new partnership, promoting Roman football to a global audience through a variety of initiatives, including future involvement in esports projects.

“We are delighted to welcome KONAMI, world-leading company in the design and development of video games and eSports, to our family”, says Giorgio Brambilla, CRO of AS Roma. “Thanks to this agreement we will be able to implement the volume of interactive experiences and the involvement of the new innovations of the Giallorossi fans all over the world. We are already working hard with the new partner to set the activities for the coming months and to support the launch of PES 2021 with various activations. In the Club, we are sure that KONAMI will be the perfect strategic partner for the development of the activities that will involve the AS Roma eSports team, which is increasingly aimed at the public who loves football videogames”.

eFootball PES 2021 releases on September 15 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (Steam). The Standard Edition will be $29.99.

Club Editions for FC Barcelona, FC Bayern Munchen, Juventus, Manchester United and Arsenal will cost $34.99. Each Club Edition comes with the club’s full squad (players and manager) as well as several club-themed bonuses, including an Iconic Moment Series player, a digital kit and more.

Users that currently own eFootball PES 2020 will get a 20% discount.

Konami revealed the official cover for eFootball PES 2021 Season Update earlier this week, featuring Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford and Alphonso Davies.

If you played myClub mode in either PES 2020 or PES 2020 LITE, you will be eligible to receive the Veterans Bonus when you purchase eFootball PES 2021 Season Update. The bonuses you receive will be based on the milestones you achieved while playing PES 2020’s myClub mode, and will be available in-game when PES 2021 launches.

  1. Whats the win for the customer? AS Roma was already in PES 2020, with jerseys, with Stadio Olimpico. If anything, PES 2021 loses AC Milan and Inter (of course easily corrected with OF's) and thus San Siro/Guiseppe Meazza Stadium.
Nice for Konami they can use AS Roma to promote the game, but for us, the buyers/players, there is no gain at all.

The only good thing for us as consumers with these “partnerships” are better scanned faces and ad boards that say “eFootball PES 2021” on them.
