Super Mega Baseball 3 Video - Franchise Mode, Team Import Tool, New Features & Launch Update

Metalhead Software has just released a new 9+ minute video showcasing Super Mega Baseball 3’s new features, including a deep dive into the new Franchise mode, that contains deep team and player management, upgrades to the existing modes, new content and customization options, and more.

In addition, Metalhead has revealed, that due to the industry-wide changes from COVID-19, there have been some logistical delays in the game’s release. They aren’t ready to announce a change from the April release window quite yet, but they are optimistic that if there is a delay, it will be minor.

The team has also announced their Super Mega Baseball 2 Team Import tool, which is scheduled to arrive soon after launch, allowing users to import their custom rosters from Super Mega Baseball 2 to use in Super Mega Baseball 3.

And lastly, a major online gameplay feature is under development and will be announced prior to launch.

Check out the video below and let us know your thoughts.

Previously announced Super Mega Baseball 3 features include:

  • Challenge your hand-eye coordination or relax and hit dingers with fluid gameplay that scales seamlessly from novice to beyond-expert levels of difficulty.
  • Apply and refine your baseball instincts with a sophisticated baseball simulation featuring new pickoff and stealing mechanics, wild pitches/passed balls, designated hitters, and situational player traits.
  • Take in the sights and sounds of 14 richly detailed ballparks, each featuring unique day, night and alternate lighting conditions.
  • Guide an evolving team to greatness over multiple seasons in the all new Franchise mode featuring player development, aging, retirement and signing/releasing of free agents (1vCPU, 2vCPU, local or online).
  • Compete online to win pennants and climb to higher divisions in the cross-platform Pennant Race mode (1v1, online only, controller only).
  • Create your ideal league with a comprehensive customization suite that includes season length/structure, team names/uniforms/logos, and player names/appearance/attributes.
  • Play or simulate any combination of games/teams in customized Seasons and Elimination brackets, solo or with friends (1vCPU, 2vCPU, 1v1, 2v1, 2v2, CPUvCPU, local or online).

Super Mega Baseball 3 will be released on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam for $44.99.

  1. cant wait.
does the import feature only allow the user team roster, or can we import every team and setup from a custom league.
I see some great improvements, the franchise mode alone is worth it. This will be a first day purchase.
Does anyone know if this game will have the ability to keep win/loss, overall stats on a per user basis that tracks all activity? Similar to how you could back in the OG Xbox era of games.  If yes, is this an option in SMB 2?
A lot of fantastic info there.
Definitely doesn't have any mention of camera angle changes, which is whatever for me but I know a couple of others wanted it. Although sadly, I see or hear no such indication of getting more layers in team logo creations.
I'm hoping to hear in the gameplay video next time about leaping and diving mechanics being addressed for superior defenders (so that they don't over-dive or over-leap on an in-betweener).
Otherwise, I'm definitely stoked. Bring it on!

In a twitter reply, they noted that they added camera angles.
Very excited. A bit bummed by a small potential delay. These quarantines, while horrible, are great for the video gam industry and I’d really love this company to succeed in every possible way. Hope this gets out to the masses ASAP

That's good news. Hopefully we can adjust the height of the camera for hitting. I think it's too high. If we can do most of what we are allowed to do in The Show that would be great.

Is this coming this week or not???

Well, there will be a reveal video on Friday regarding gameplay, so I don't know if it will be released by then or not.
I don't think the guys at Metalhead even know if the game will be released this week. The whole console certification process is more of a mess than ever because of the pandemic.
day1 buy, best new franchise in a long time - although I wish they added a derby/long-ball mode and also hope the devs do a different sport next as each SMB game has super long shelf life for me as it's not anchored down by real people/stats.
I am excited for May 13th. This game looks like the spiritual successor to Baseball Stars for the Nintendo which is still the greatest baseball game of all time.

Have they confirmed how many years Franchise will run for?

It’s a must buy for me regardless but I’d like to know that too, if career stats are shown, and if fantasy draft which I assume no

Unlimited. I forget where I heard this, but I know that I did.

    if career stats are shown

They currently don't, but I hope they have a plan to put that in.

career stats better be one of the first things they put in. Franchise is pretty much useless for me without that.

Without career stats isn't it just a season mode?

Salaries, player aging, etc. take part.
But yes, they really need career stats.
Sadly for a nerd like me, ill be tracking stats in a separate spreadsheet.
Now I know that console players wont benefit from this, but maybe there is a way to mod the extraction of this data from the game, for the PC players?
There has to be potential there and someone cleverer than me could confirm. But I agree the game should have it and the positive noises coming out of their interviews is that they are listening and we may get that in a patch if its something they can do easily.
I mean its a 40 quid game, so its in that premium bracket now and id hope they support this for a while and am confident they will do.
