In Pokémon Champions, the doubles format is the official tournament and competitive format. Which is exactly why putting together a Meta team is important. However, if you’re used to the traditional battles seen in games such as Legends Arceus, the singles format will be more familiar. Much like the doubles format, singles also require methodical planning. It also turns out that some Pokémon that struggle in doubles can thrive in singles.
The battle starts in a classic one-on-one format, where your ultimate weapon is smart switching. The idea is to use the Pokémon that puts you in a favorable matchup, avoid lethal hits, and preserve your momentum. Mega Evolution adds significant power in ranked games, letting Pokémons transform mid-battle for amped up stats and abilities.
Currently, the meta revolves around the balance of hazard control, bulky stalling, and high-speed offense. With that in mind, here are the best singles teams in Pokémon Champions.
Team Hippowdown

Hippowdon and Garchomp are widely considered to be some of the strongest Pokémon in the game. Pairing them with four more resourceful Pokémon makes them even stronger. This team focuses on hazard control, type coverage, and flexible switching.
- Hippowdon
- Garchomp
- Meowscarada
- Archaludon
- Mimikyu
- Hydreigon
The team revolves around Hippowdon as the unbreakable core. Upon entry, use its Sand Stream ability to summon a sandstorm so that you can deal constant damage every turn. The perfect pairing would be with Stealth Rock to plug away at switches, Yawn to force enemies into sleep, and Slack Off for consistent recovery. If you’re up against aggressive players, Hippowdon’s Ground typing and high Defense will be the best against them.
Garchomp will be the main sweeper and Mega candidate. Even without the boost, it has brilliant base stats: Rough skin to counter contact moves, and an extensive move pool. It already has enough speed to outpace neutral threats, but the real fun starts with Mega Evolution, turning it into an absolute threat.
The primary speedster is Meowscarada, delivering unbelievable speed and Protean for adaptive STAB on every move. Use it to set hazards or pick off downed opponents with strong priority coverage. However, due to its fragility, it requires careful switching.
Serving as the Dragon wall with excellent defensive typing, Archaludon, has only two weaknesses and ten resistances. Utilize Stamina or Sturdy to tank hits and set up Stealth Rock without stress. Additionally, toy with your opponents with Mimikyu’s Disguise ability, which absorbs one free hit and sets up Curse or Swords Dance safely. Against weak attackers, it is one of the best cleaners.
To complete the balance of the team, Hydreigon is the perfect pick for a special attacking threat. If you want to avoid Ground moves, make use of Levitate, and if you want to deal insane damage, use its Special Attack or Dragon STAB. Hydreigon provides important coverage against Fairy types that wall physical attackers.
Suggested 3v3 variants:
- Hippowdon + Garchomp + Hydreigon for strong balance and hazard control.
- Garchomp + Mimikyu + Hydreigon for late-game sweeping potential.
Team Greninja

This build emphasizes high speed and unpredictability while having a defensive backbone. To fully abuse the power of this team, preview the opponent’s team for slow, setup-heavy compositions.
- Greninja
- Meowscarada
- Garchomp
- Hippowdon
- Mimikyu
- Archaludon
The Pokémon leading the charge is Greninja with intense Speed and Protean, switching its type after every move for flawless STAB and coverage. No matter its base form or Mega form, it will strike first, forcing switches and picking off low-HP threats. The real benefit of using Greninja is its versatility, making it impossible to predict in Team Preview.
Pairing beautifully as a fellow speedy attacker, Meowscarada doubles the Protean threats. This pressurises your opponents to keep guessing your next coverage move. Greninja and Meowscarada together generate unbreakable momentum, especially against bulkier builds that can’t keep up with the speed.
However, speed isn’t enough sometimes, and to provide the physical power needed, Garchomp is the perfect selection. Anchoring the team once again is Hippodown, offering sandstorm chip damage and hazard control. Having a reliable core is the idea of this build, as opponents can easily outlast your glass cannons if you’re a speed-focused build.
Mimikyu and Archaludon also once again appear in the list. Use Mimikyu to revenge kill with Ghost/Fairy moves, keeping the Dragons and Grounds safe from threats. As speedsters might be fragile against some opponents, Archaludon will act as the defensive safety net.
Suggested 3v3 Variants
- Greninja + Meowscarada + Garchomp for triple speed threat
- Greninja + Hippowdon + Mimikyu for balanced offense and control
