  1. And this is why I waited. I knew this game would go below $30. Didn't think it would drop this low the 2nd day of October though, I was thinking around Black Friday. Holy crap. Game must not be selling well for it to be half off this fast.
I was thinking of getting this game, I only play Franchise Mode and I'm kinda just exhausted from 2K. Would you guys recommend this ?

franchise mode is very, very bare bones. Gameplay is really solid this year, though, IMO.

I don't get that much time to spend crazy times on the other stuff of those modes but how is scouting? Drafting rookies etc? Negotiations ? Trading ?
I'm missing Live's Gameplay, I like to play more shooting then driving to the basket.

I play 90% franchise and am enjoying it for what it is.
Everything other than playing games and trying to win a championship is the mind set you need to go in with. Franchise mode is pretty terrible in every other regard if I’m being totally honest. No injuries to user players unless you sim games. No trades by Cpu. Scouting is a waste of time.
I personally went into it with a one year, don’t sim any games and try and win a championship type mentality and I’m loving it. Playing every game should hold me over till next year.
You guys are lucky in the States we can only buy from the PS store in the UK at full price! £59.99! So no discount here sadly think EA have binned off the UK and Europe when it comes to live I bought 18 last year and enjoyed it immensely

Enjoying franchise as well so far. They fixed my biggest issue by having the salary cap work well enough. I'd like to be able to edit numbers at least but we will see.
CPU does trades in this game so that's a plus. Also, I think their get offers is pretty good as well and I'm sticking to trading in that way.

Very much enjoying THE One mode. Tons of games to play and no VC for cheap upgrades. Each court is harder then the next and skill points have to be grinded out just like the good old My Player 2k days until they got greedy. I bought both 2k and this and haven't even touched My Player 2k after 1 day of playing. That hole mode is pure garbage now. My Player is now a animated movie only. All the time and energy was spent making the 398 cut scenes but yet the game keeps declining in everything. I see myself playing The One mode for a good while still.
What sucks is I just bought the game last week lol wonder if they will credit me for it?
Thank you OP !! I just got my $30 back from PS4 support. I had bought the game a week ago and they refunded half back to my wallet.
Anyone else that bought this early hit them up via chat and they will refund to your wallet.
    Cheers
Price drop this early? NBA Live 19 is* a pretty good basketball game and EA is on the right track. All of you should jump on this game at this price. It's a no brainier IMO.

Can you set how many games to play in a season?
Glad I held off buying the game, will purchase it when I get home.
Do wish they would have done more with the game than basically just working on the 1.
My biggest grip is No editing in Franchise mode?
Common EA its 2018, you need to add that ASAP

Here's a sliver of hope. The last reply is from an EA dev for NBA Live.

I actually hate to see this, it is good for consumers but not for future. When you drop the price 50% on an NBA Game Before the season starts it is not a good sign for the sales of your game or the future of the series.
If there is a Live 20, maybe they will realize to have a successful NBA game, you have to focus on the NBA parts.

My thoughts exactly. Anyone that has paid attention to the series since the current generation of consoles should have known Live 19 would receive a sale price within two months of it's release but this still came sooner than expected.
Great price for the game but if it's already this cheap after less than a month after release I can only imagine it will be even cheaper come Black Friday/holiday season. I'll grab a copy then if I'm still interested.
    DBMcGee3
I'm 100% with you on that. I got it for $35 on XB1 but damn I figured it wouldn't drop like this til Black Friday. Yes I would be PISSED if I spent $60...but i d ok not think I'd ever spend full price for live again. I only jumped on it this year because of the discounts as well as it dropping earlier than 2K.

Shame me thrice, shame on me. Three times EA burned me at full price to cut in half a month later. Pre-season?! Last time. This is bad karma in burning your repeat customer base.
I love this game, but I’m not a charity.
I’m enjoying Live more than the other game this year. Not sure if this is a marketing strategy or a white flag situation. It sucks because the game has improved from year to year during this “3 year cycle”. The franchise mode is barebones, but the one, live run, etc are all legit and worth $60 imo. I’m a little mad I paid full price not even a month ago but It is what it is.
This should've been the price at launch. EA needs people playing this game and they just aren't going to cut into the market at full price, imo. Stinks for people that did pay full price, no doubt.
North America only? I was excited because the game isn't even in stores here yet but its still €70 here in Belgiums PS Store. Stupid Benelux region is always playing the red-headed step-child of the Sony family. Some games never even make it here.
I knew this was going to happen. I'm glad I decided to wait because EA did the exact same thing last year.  I pre ordered Live 18 for $39.99 last year and less than a month later, they dropped the price to $29.99. If I can remember correctly, they also said that would be a temporary price drop, but it never did go back to regular price.  To me this is a total slap in the face to people who actually try to support the game by paying full price or pre ordering and getting a discount.. It also tells me that this game is doomed and I can't see this franchise being around for too many more years, which is a shame because 2K definitely needs some competition.
I paid $79.99 here in Canada and I can say without a shadow of a doubt That I have got my money’s worth. Not only that I’m glad My money can hopefully help future development.
I can 100% percent understand people being upset at this though and it’s a weird move that has me a little baffled. Like others have said, the nba season hasn’t even started yet so it feels like desperation.
Whatever the reason though, anyone at all who considered this game should buy it now. That price is a steal for a game this fun.
Sports games go on sale faster than they have in the past. Where I live Madden was on sale for 2 weeks which ended on Sunday, it was only a few bucks more than NBA is. You should always wait a month after a sports game releases, almost all of them go on sale

Anyone that paid full price hit up PS or XBox support. As I noted earlier I got credited $30 without even a question. Not sure how many days they can go back to credit but my purchase was from last week. Hope this helps.

EA should just back to college hoops

no...even that game was stale and boring. animations were pretty much canned and the same - no real player uniqueness. 2K8 is still the college basketball game of choice.
People acting like this is the apocalypse. What's going on is, Live still isn't at the point where they have some lofety sales expectations. They are still just trying to get the game in as many hands as possible. All the people who were gonna jump in right away did so at launch for $60. Now they are tryna get the game in more hands by doing a sale. C'mon nobody really expects this game to sell well. The game was gone for 4 years while 2K built a juggernaut not just in the sports gaming industry, but in the entire gaming industry. It's gonna take time for them to build a fanbase. The only way to do that is to put the game on sale and get it in as many hands as possible. Although Live was king back in the day it wasn't as big as 2K is today. Live may never compete with 2K from a sales perspective ever again unless 2K falls flat on their face like Elite 11 did.

They are freaking out as if it wasn't available for $40 for preorder. Less for ea access.
If you bought for $60 you knew it was coming. About 3 weeks ago I saw madden on sale for $40, way more popular game but went on sale nearly the same time.
This is pretty normal and a good thing to get the game in more hands.
If you buy physically from a store, many credit cards have price protection. Citi double cash has 2% cash back, and price rewind, so when you buy an item, you simply upload the receipt and the info on citipricerewind.com and if it goes on sale anywhere within 60 days you get your money back.
I got money off of madden that way when it went on sale. It went on sale for $40 not too long after it came out. That's okay. Items go on sale at random times, months of NBA Live hopefully made things better for you

They better do the discount on XBOX too, baffled it’s only PlayStation. Def worth buying for $30 no questions asked.*

    This sale not on Xbox?

I'm in Canada, and I saw that from October 8th, the new price for Live 19 will become 39.99 CAD. And the picture showed PS4 and XONE versions
Good thing price doesn't affect the quality of the game.
I was happy to get it for 40 pre order and I ain't mad dudes can get it for 25. All my friends I told to wait til it was on sale got a mass message on psn last night haha. Dunno. Dudes just gotta play the game. It's good. I dunno how u can be mad if people pay 100 plus vc to play another game and that a 60/40 gm is dropped to 25.
Like I said sales are good. You go to a store and you get something good on sale that's a good find. Doesn't mean people who charge more than full price for a gm have a much better game than a game that's on sale.
    Get it. It's 25. It's worth it
The only thing it needs is more people online. I wanna be able to get full games all times of day.

It's almost been a month but I do understand what you're saying. However, would you have expected Madden to go on sale just a little over a month after release? I mean, its Madden , it usually tops the sales list for sports games, so games being on sale quick is kind of the new thing now. I'm willing to bet the sales numbers for Live aren't that great but something like this should help it out. At least I hope so, because more competition is always better

They tend to stagger deals between the two. I wouldn't be surprised if NBA Live goes on sale for xbox next week. You see stuff like that happen between the two.One week you'll see 1 game on sale for xbox, the week after its on PS4 etc
Looks like the price is back to $59.99, definitely shorter than the original note on the page said, which was 10/16 at 11:00.
Maybe it comes back, maybe not. Strange though, guess it was a mistake.

Well that sucks. I was suppose to buy this on sale and then they pulled the plug. They couldn't even wait for the 6th like they advertised. Mistake or not, it was just for a few days and they could have acquired many players for their game with this sale. EA you suck.

And to add to that, they listed the game on sale until the 16th. They should have honored that price until that date IMO, or at least have another EA Sports title be a replacement for it. Just my .02 cents.
    Bought it yesterday for $23.99.
Worth it. Less (to essentially no) defensive frustration than the other game. Solid defensive player awareness. Haven’t seen any defensive head scratching moments other than potentially being able to abuse the pick and roll on default superstar. What’s EA response to the pick and roll?

$39.99 starting next week at ebgames Canada.
I’m picking it up. Can’t go wrong at that price and getting the game before the pre-season.
I could wait longer and most likely get it for $19.99 but when ? Late November, or in 2019 or when the season is basically finished......

You won’t be disappointed and in case you didn’t know already, Kawhi is a beast in this game. :)
It's a shame, this is the biggest failure in the franchise and just when it looked like they were turning a corner.
They're not the other company but they also have the ability to lean on things the other company doesn't have like Ultimate Team and they didn't.
I wonder just how long they can keep this going unless they take resources from somewhere else and build up Live.
They need a scenario like the WNBA where the league is trash but the NBA gives its money to them so they can keep it going. If Live just had one year of quality where it could add in animations and gameplay and modes and then it could just tweak those for a few years going forward.
The game this year is just lacking in every possible way and it's going down the drain. You can't sell enough copies so you have a smaller staff, that staff can't produce a top shelf game so you can't sell enough copies. Rinse and repeat.

This is the biggest failure in the franchise? Worse than NBA Elite, Nba Live 16, NBA Live 18? Even if you consider 19 a bigger failure for the Live team than those games you can’t surely believe it’s a bigger failure than the numerous games that were canceled?
    You kinda lost me there.

    I do.
All those games (and the ones that weren't) were about "turning NBA games upside down" and "new and exciting ways to approach the game". They were starting out from zero and trying to introduce something that was totally different and revolutionary.
NBA Live 19 is the second game of the "back to basics core NBA Live experience" style of games. The foundation was laid last year and this was supposed to be a big year for the series.
You also had the other company taking hit after hit because of the bad business practices they had. Negative stories were written about them in the mainstream press, not just specialty sites like these.
This was NBA Live's time to strike, chances like this don't come for most companies but thanks to the course of events from last year they had a chance to gain real ground on the other company while also looking like a hero. Things like not having pay to win and no contracts were supposed to be the cherries on the top, not the only reason to play.
This is what I mean about getting the people making the game more help. This release should have been able to go toe to toe with the industry leader and if not unseat it at least give users a choice without losing quality.
NBA 19 isn't a bad game but things like animations and game modes are significantly worse than their competition. If it was an indie release of something like cricket that's understandable. This is one of the largest game companies in the world making a game featuring one of the largest sports in the world.

I get what your saying now. I don’t necessarily agree with you on the animations and I definitely don’t think I’d compare it to an indie title. If it’s the modes your talking about, surprisingly most indie titles have better single player modes than Live 19. Lol gameplay though this is a AAA title IMO. You can argue that some things animate better in 2k but there are things that animate better in Live. What Live needs badly however is more signature animations.
What I would agree with you entirely on is that the time is right for live to go for it. Gameplay isn’t the biggest concern anymore. Sure it needs some improvements but it isn’t the biggest problem like it has been for 9 years. Put money into face scans and signature animations. Put money into a bigger team to really offer a fully realized franchise modes and start making some real head way on 2k. If your just gonna do what they are doing honestly as much as I live this game, just pack it in.
Bought it the last few years and, was not impressed when the sale dropped VERY quickly...thus avoided it this season. It is hard to justify full price for a game that has a long established history of being a bargain bin game by the time the actual season tips off.
I am all for a bargain, but EA need to either protect the game's value much longer OR simply make this $29.99 on release day.

It's funny how different people are.
I guess it is lives time to shine cuz the other game has a micro crisis but that's not gonna change. I really feel live is close. Need more contact animations inside. Footplanting on dunks.
Like if you make a max size max wt guy he actually moves like you'd expect. Rebounding and defense are animation tied. Not a lot of "live" balls but I think that's one way to level the tallest guys being the most op. I should not be rebounding and standing dunking with my 6 4 wing defender tho. I do expect w his str to be able to go back up and finish tho.
I am not sure if I like the patched inside scoring. A lot of things need work, but the framework is laid. This framework is so much better than live ten or even imo the other game. It's just about putting work in. And I dunno how anyone can think this game isn't a big step from last year, and I am ignorant cuz I didn't get them but from elite to 17 the thought of buying live for even 5 bucks was lulsy. If they hadn't offered a free online demo of 18 I might not have bought that either. I have faith. They are doing things the right way, slowly.
It's super bare bones but the frame work is solid. In the same way someone bumps you and you pick up the ball, or you enter a blow by animation, they need a contact radius around people inside esp on dunks but also lay ups. And they need to remember that with str, initiating the contact is a good shot. Just little things.
If you gave me like the live engine and a dev team I'm confident I could make the game good in a year. Sim game play at least. I think dudes wanting more than that are asking too much at this point. Deep franchise etc.
Differentiate between 3v3 Street and pro am more. Make pro am Sim. Add clubs or whatever and track records. That's the next step. Street crew, pro am crew. Let us unlock and choose Ai teammates too cuz we know live has a pop problem.
I can't say I am disappointed with live. I paid full last yr and 40 this yr. A sale is a sale.
I just don't see how this is the worst game of the series. It might have been the most disappointing to you, and that sucks. But it is what it is. I'm gonna stay w ea and have faith. Cuz other things aren't changing. They might.
    -Smak
I think what a lot of people coming on this year or late last year miss is that some Live supporters have been on the "solid foundation" train for years. This is year 4 for them. They have gotten past the "this isnt 2K" aspect a long time ago and now look at the game independently. So when certain aspects of the game havent evolved or have even devolved within that amout of time...its a little harder for them to be optimistic. Now, some have enjoyed every bit of the ride, which is perfectly fine, but there's a reason why some feel the way they do.

Yup, year 2 of 3 every year it seems. That's why I got frustrated and still am. I purchased the game, but literally have nothing else to do. The NBA season has even started yet. :-(

I think the other thing that should be mentioned is that a strong argument for Live always seems to be the lack of micro transactions compared to 2k. I have zero doubt that if and when EA gets a better market share that won’t be the case. I’d like to give EA the benefit of the doubt but I just don’t see them choosing to make less money.
The lack of microtransactions should be seen as a result of circumstance more than the goodness of EA in my opinion.

I agree with this whole heartedly. As one of the few that really liked 16 I was super frustrated that 17 was cancelled. I was then pretty massively disappointed with 18. I’m sick of believing in the plan.
The thing about it for me though, and maybe I’m dumb for this but 19 makes me believe we are finally there and ready to build onto it into the future.
The gameplay first and foremost has to be right and they just couldn’t get it there. I think 18, although I hated it was the actual real promising start point but it needed a lot of ironing out. I think they successfully did that this year. The gameplay needs some work but it doesn’t need the massive changes or improvements as it has in years past and I think they can finally focus on the rest of the game.
Again maybe I’m a sucker but I really think next year will be a big jump.
I agree with both of you guys.....your both right.....
    - Live is getting better (little by little) from live 16 to now.
    - Easports is huge/major gaming company and live is minor leagues game within thier portfolio it’s not a triple A title (madden/fifa) type game. Ea has to put the resources and money into live like they do with other games in order to slay the beast and take back the crown.

    Disagree.
EA has all the hockey market and the MTX is only on ultimate team.
It doesnt pollute the my player or my career at all.
NHL 19 has lootboxes but they arent purchasable at all. And you level up by playing. Period.

Ya you could be right. I guess I always think of the Battlefront fiasco and it’s hard for me to trust EA. Lol

Yea I mean I saw live before. I've enjoyed both gms but really developed a distaste after elite. I kept an eye on 16 but someone told me there wasn't net play or something like that, and the other gm was pretty good that year.
It's not 2k. 2k is 2k and to me also has big problems. I can deal with the live problems more because I don't feel like I've got some big weight around my neck. I took all the players off my court and replaced them wnba players last night and someone immediately took my court. It's funny cuz it's not been taken but maybe once before. They put on a wack rule set and wack stipulations and I was already tired so I was like whatever.
Point is, it's not that serious. I think 2k fans are serious because it requires a serious investment. As such they have a tinge of elitism. There are parts I don't like about live but it's consistent. That's the framework. I don't feel angry, if I don't wanna play live nothing is lost and I just turn it off. That's a video game.
When I do feel like playing it, it's fun. I've put a good amount of time into it. I got a bunch of dudes and I've played LG with them all on different teams and it's fun to a point. I now know how to get the cpu buckets so it means I can win in both lg and pro am when everyone quits. Is it realistic, no. Did I play 1 v 1 pro am vs someone who dropped 90 and the whole gm consisted of me holding double team and playing middle field. Yea i did. Did it piss me off? Not really.
I know if I had my wing defender I would have killed dude. It is what it is.
Games are games. I've been playing games a long time. Of the crowd that doesn't have the time or energy to grind, it's a amazing they don't appreciate a game like live. It's not grind at all. It's not micros, it's grind and the sheer, arguably intentional frustration that is free from live that makes it good.
I wanna see more. I always want more. But I stand by what I said. I could probably fix this game with just some new ideas. I could probably make it play the way I wanted with sliders even, tho some areas would still be lacking, but since you can't use sliders in the modes I play or online it's like eh. I mean, that's what most patches are anyway I think. Slider changes.
Sucks dudes were in it with 16 and feel the progress from16 to 19 isn't as significant as it should be, but you can do it back wards too. I feel the progress from 18 to 19 is enough that there's no reason to expect it won't be much better next year, if it keeps taking 18-19 incremental steps. I think another mistake is people want ea to retake the crown or whatever. I doubt it'll ever be like that. They need to finish their game. I've played indie games and had faith in them and I think it's true live is more like an indie game.
We'll see in the end. If 20 looks like trash I won't buy it.

Double post : so I mean it's like lives virtual currency is more like damn I almost got a million rp again I should buy some clothes. I'd love more slots to make more dudes. Like I said people are different and they want different things. Live works for me to play alone and online. No complaints. 8/10 for me. If in two years ill be like Augh live sucks we aren't moving forward at all like I said I got mad bball gms I can play, old gms. Can buy a manager Sim or whatever. I just love bball and I don't want my hobby to be exploited. I want to enjoy a game. Life is hard. Live isn't. New slogan.

    “Life is hard. Live isn’t”
    Perfect
I guess that goes without saying for me. Last time I was stressed about a video game I was a teenager scared to walk down the hallways playing Resident Evil 2, lol. All fun and games end of the day.
Feedback is just about improving that experience even moreso.

Not a sucker at all man.
If you're enjoying the game, which is the most important thing, there's a reason to have faith....
I go back and forth between Live and 2k every year. Since I don't play franchise this is the one year I won't go back. Love no micro transactions and love the rise, live run, and the gameplay.
From my gaming perspective, I really just think they need to add better franchise and a few more things, and they are there. So I see the potential.
But my realistic side sees 2k continually raking in millions. Players give them Free advertising constantly. Just days into Live 19, a brand new game and I was struggling to get 3 v 3 games or 5 v 5 in matchmaking. I was even struggling to find some head to head opponents. I'm sure a few months from now, I won't be able to find head to head opponents at all. And we will 100% be restricted to 3 v 3 due to lack of players.
This game SHOULD make huge gains. It has the POTENTIAL and is a couple steps away from being game changing, unfortunately, I don't trust their marketing, and 2k seems like an unstoppable beast. I just can't get on the micro transaction bandwagon. I just hope and pray Live can have better sales this year than previous and make a Live 20
I gotta say I've been having enjoying Live 19. I also enjoyed Live 18, didn't like Live 16. The rim physics improved in Live 19 whereas the commentary is just plain awful. I turned that off. I gave Live 18 a chance because it was a statement to 2K regarding their approach to VC and micro transactions even though I have never spent money on that and NEVER will.
This year I bought 2K 19 as well but so far so good if you take the game in stride. I had one weird bug show up in a game where the opposing side became invisible and you only saw them dribbling the ball. This happened right after a TO and the only way to fix it was to call another TO.
But yesterday I played a game between the Magic and my Heat and the results were pretty realistic. I won the game 104-98 with 12 min qtrs. The only thing I wish this game had was a Season Mode, why in the hell have developers forced us to use Franchise Mode? I also wished this had a Play Live Now mode which is something MLB The Show does as well as Madden and NBA 2K where you can play along with your teams real schedule.
But I don't take the bugs too seriously including the invisible team. I should have left it that way as I was actually playing better without seeing them, LOL.

Was going to give it a try for $23.99, but will wait now for the $5-$10 price range during the holidays.

Same here, I saw live 18 for $10 last year, so I learned my lesson.

Last night it was $40 with gold on Xbox. Now this morning it’s back to normal price. What’s going on EA.?

Getting ****ing annoying ain't it? Both times its gone on sale has been the evening before a patch. Don't think its a coincidence at this point.

Yeah just teasing. Almost bought it last night. Now I kinda regret seeing, that it looks like their support and them listening to the community is really strong with live 19. Almost seem like the game is being built this year listening to players and feedback.

You better believe the second EA feels like they're BACK...oh most DEFINITELY they will go HEAVY in the microtransactions route

I see Live 19 is $59.99 on the PS Store, but on Xbox Store it is still $40. I thought the sale was good until the 16th, what is going on?

On Xbox it’s going back and forth - last night it went back to $40.19 so seems like some strange error is happening. I hurried to pick it up for 40 before it went back again.
