NBA 2K21 Sliders From schnaidt1, Plus MyLeague Setup

The most popular set of sliders for the NBA 2K series last year came from schnaidt1, and he’s back this year working on a new set of sliders for those looking to find the sweet spot either in standard CPU games or a deeper MyLeague scenario. 2K is a bit rougher around the edges this year out of the box, especially as it relates to AI. When factoring in the multiple patches, it means honing sliders is a trickier process this year. That being said, schanidt1 is putting in the work, so let’s go over what he’s got so far with these NBA 2K21 sliders.

How To Setup Your NBA 2K21 Rotations For Your Roster

One bonus piece knowledge that can help make your rotations work properly is explained in schnaidt1’s last video. The key settings to have first and foremost:

  • Player Minutes: Auto
  • Substitution: Auto
  • Substitution Method: Rotation

From there, he explains how to do 10-man and 9-man rotations, and how to setup minutes so they stay consistent throughout the year. In short, you have to think about things in five-minute chunks, and then he chats about how to allocate starter minutes and such for both versions of your rotation.

By all means give feedback on the sliders if you end up using them. He will continue to tweak these sliders throughout the year, and he is going to have NBA 2K21 on PS5 as well so there will be a next-gen version of all of this at some point.

    With the first major patch finally here, Ill finally be able to get to working on my gameplay sliders and myleague settings, which I'm super excited for with the new progression system they released in today's patch!!
    I do not have an official timeline for you guys, however, I can tell you that Gameplay sliders are easier as they are less time consuming than doing 5 year sims 40+ times. Plus I always get to use my previous years sliders as a solid base
    I have not played anything but mycareer so far.
    With that being said, those of you who have played any myleague or myGM games, can you please comment below issues with the gameplay you would like me to look at and hopefully address.

    Yeah I did a My League with your 2K20 sliders just to see how it goes and progression was a mess, which affected contracts. I went two seasons and it didn't have the balance clearly.
    Played some myleague...the drives to the basket are almost impossible to stop and the help D rotations on drives are completely non existent, and 3 point shooting % too low, those are some of the things I noticed that need work. I played the Rockets and Westbrook was literally unstoppable on any difficulty. Thanks for your work!

    I'm worried that some of those concerns are not slider fixable. Stopping drives and help D are problematic. For example, stopping drives may require changes that have their own side effects. Since I mostly play offline vs. the CPU I'm approaching some of this through roster tendency adjustments. Not a great answer...so I'm open to suggestions.
    For stopping drives maybe increasing Body Up Sensitivity, lowering Driving Contact Shot Frequency, and increasing Lateral Quickness.
    Lots to experiment with.
    I appreciate your suggestions, and will try them, I am a offline vs CPU player as well and I think a lot of the issues are due to roster tendencies. I thought of maybe trying your 2K20 sliders for 21 and seeing if it helps until your new set is done.

    I create draft classes and I have been testing them out with multi year sims and I keep running into an issue and I'm not sure if it is a glitch or a progression issue. I have ran this class through multiple sims with the default progression 2k sliders, as well as your 2k20 progression sliders.
    I'm seeing a massive drop in potential after year one for every single prospect. I'm talking they drop from 99 to 81, 89 down to 74. Just insane crazy drops. At first, I thought it was due to the dynamic progression and maybe these guys suffered an injury, but one one of the sims, the #1 pick averaged 22 points per game, won ROY, and won finals MVP as a 5 seed upsetting team along the way. His potential dropped from 99 to 83 the following season.
    He was 19 when that happened and he wasn't supposed to hit his peak until later than that, so I know thats not tied into it at all.
    Let me know if you have any questions about that, or would even like to use my draft class in testing.

    Using your 2K20 sliders in 3 separate MyLeagues (just to mess around a bit) and CPU shooting is off the charts. Routinely they are shooting 70% or better.
    That’s my two cents. I will look to provide more details.

    Yeah 2021 shooting sliders will start off much higher than 2020. My base is in the low 50s with 3 PT Shooting at 58. It'll take some new experimentation to get 2021 where we like it.
    I have to say that I like 2021 so much better than 2020 in terms of overall player and off ball movement out of the gate.

    Right I hear ya. I was more concerned because it did it on those sliders, as well as the default sliders too. And even with that, I don't feel like there is a slider that randomly lowers potential of players.

    Inside: 42
    Close: 44
    Mid: 48
    3pt: 56
    Lay-up: 40
    Getting some realistic percentages. The 3pt is a big one though - I had it set at 53 and it just resulted in games where both teams would combine for like 5/40.
    But it's just what I'm testing. I post anything i deem as an official set. But I'm not going to post everything im testing and every time i make a change.
    It looks bad. Like i released an unfinished set with a bazillion updates
    It's also a lot of work as i might make several changes alone during a game im testing.

    Season opener with Lakers. Test sliders, 48 game speed, Real % Shot & Free Throws. Should also state I call plays 90% of the time and make manual subs.
    Was a great game, really back and forth. Both teams led by double digits at points and both teams led at end of quarters. My defensive strategy of starting Bron at SG on George and Davis at SF on Leonard seemed to payoff as they didn't combine for even 30 points.

    I'd take a look at User post scoring success, couple times I had Davis inside against Williams or such completely bullied down to rim for a little turn post score inches away with no coverage and missed more than I made.
    Nothing atrocious as I did score on post moves in game, but a few too many gimmes were missed imo.
    Other than that possibly CPU contact shot success, they seemed to succeed at that fairly much better than me. I know they had Kawhi/George but I also have Bron/Davis and it was more the other guys doing it with regularity while my guys couldn't.
    Again not atrocious but noticeable.
    I'm actually starting 2nd game of the year now at home against Utah, so I'll post results and feedback after it as well.
    Edit: Just wanted to add about contact shot success, I think CPU making less to even it up makes more sense than user making more.
    Oh I forgot to mention the CPU committed a Falgrant 1 in my game, and my guy fouled the CPU on a 3 point jumper.
    That was my 4th Flagrant 1 I've seen since getting game. Had 3 on my set I was working on before Schnaidt's, but all fouls were just at default.
    Still cool to see, especially the 3pt jumper foul.
    Awesome feedback. I haven't even looked at close shot success yet because of focusing on jump shots so this is a big help.
    I'll def lower cpu contact shot success as it could lead to more free throw attempts by reduced and1s.
    I'll look at making it a lil harder to bully the cpu in the paint until point blank range as well.

Weirdly though, when I select a player with that little checker tool in the slider section, it seems correct. Like VanVleet’s expected contract in the salary checker is 15 mil per year-ish with your 2k20 sliders, but in the FA screen he only expects like 6-7 mil.
    Seen anything like this on your end?

    It's all good. I totally get the impatience and frustration with 2K out of the box. He's working on them so that's good. There will likely be a few iterations as we all work out the kinks in our sliders. Then we hope 2K does not create too much chaos with patches.

    No no no, those were just edits I made to default Superstar to get fairly fun results waiting on Schnaidt to start testing.
    They are in no way related to Schnaidt, I mainly put them here for PC/Xbox guys that can't DL the test set.

    Game 4 Lakers vs Grizzlies. Was a pretty good game for 3 quarters, but LA dominated the 4th to coast to easy win. Something to possibly lookout might be CPU double team tendency. Them seem to double Davis or Bron soon as back down from any spot on court after they score 15 or so.
    When they do it from so far tho makes way easy to make counter passes.

    The amount of double teams is a core engine feature. No sliders or roster updates to change that behavior unfortunately. 2K's gotta change that.
    Man, how are you going to work around the defense after 1.03? I don't know about anybody else, but I play player lock as point, and defense is virtually impossible for me now. The help always comes so late and there is no staying in front of my man. Dudes are driving at will. The double seems delayed. It was so good out of the box, I don't know if sliders are going to do it, but maybe. Your sliders play great for my style. I'm 58, bro, a real old head and I don't have the reflexes or skill for fancy, high flying run-gun ball. Set 'em up and knock 'em down, take what the defense gives you. That's my speed. Anyway, your sliders worked great for me last year. Good job! Looking forward to your new set. Did you make any roster suggestions last year? Who's set is going to bring it?

    Having the same exact issues here which has led me to look on this forum for sliders. I typically try to avoid sliders but I am really having a hard time finding balance with this game. Every game is so offensively driven. Going to try and give these sliders a shot tonight because after watching schnaidt1's gameplay vids it seems we have the same style of gameplay so hopefully these will be a good set for me. I'm terrible at coming up with my own set lol.
    Also, worth mentioning that I play on broadcast CAM against CPU. I do feel defense is a bit more challenging on this view than 2K cam. But you are right about rotations being slow and corner/wing 3's being left wide open.
    I also feel that my players (defensive) reactions are slightly delayed in general. The response just seems a bit off from the time I'm pressing the button on the controller to the time I am seeing it executed on screen. Anyone else feeling that? Just a disclaimer that I am new to ps4 and this is my first game on this console. I've spent the last few months on xbox 360 playing nba 2k11 where I felt no such delay, so maybe its a little easier for me to feel that.

    Defense is much better which makes gameplay fun again. You can pick up your man again and stop the drive. The jury is out on threes and shooting percentages, I have to play more games. I'm having a hard time scoring but I can get my team going pretty good. So far so good. Fun is a good place to start. Thank you, sir.

    I ported Celtic’s ATD 2k20 over to 21 for the Warriors (who I play as) and the Mavs, just so Id have a matchup with better tendencies, badges, etc. so I can experiment to get the game playing as best as possible. Your sliders have a nice feel to them, but one thing I observed was too many late shot clock heaves. I do User vs CPU but generally play off ball on D, so what I was observing was the Mavs offense not being to get quality shots against my CPU teammates.
    Small sample size, and Ill play / explore more, but just some feedback for now. I did restart the game using my own sliders (which include 100 off/def awareness and 50 off/def consistency for both sides), and the Mavs didnt stagnate against my D, so maybe awareness is a factor?
    Test this playing on ball D for me could you. To see if it's isolated to playing off ball.. because i haven't seen that personally

    Just a tip for everyone, some might like some may not.
    But what I always do is whoever took/made the shot for me on offense is who I take back down the floor and play with.
    Feel it really lets the sliders play and you can see what all your defenders are doing plus play a good bit of on-ball D like Schanidt said.
    Also finally started my Eastern Conference MyLeague with Miami. So be playing next 4 games with them to catch up to my Lakers save.
    About to play Miami game 1 vs Memphis now with official release set. I'll post up the results when done.
    Nice i do a 30 team my league custom simulation. Creat next draft classes and all. Mostly do cpu vs cpu. Which his sliders work for both. Wish i would see them run some more plays but some of that is on the coaches. As they not as good
    Here's Miami's opener vs Memphis. Good game really close 1st qtr, they led by 10 or so at a point but we had 4pt lead at half. We pushed out to around 10 or so but mostly had a 4-8pt lead. They closed it down and tied it mid to late 4th but we took back control on some timely threes to seal it.
    Honestly I didn't see anything that really stood out to look at, but something may appear over a few games. But good job man.
    P.S. I also only play Braodcast cam, only way to play.

    Adjust those coaching sliders for the cpu teams. It makes a huge difference. Some teams' run plays slider is set too low. Raise that and teams start to run their series offense and call set plays alot more often.

    The 1st game of my season was the odd ball, phx went 29/30...my other 3 games the cpu shot 90%, 83%, and 78% so it just depends on the team from my experience. User %'s also vary...I shot 83% I think in the game against the Suns. For some reason the boxscore I posted above is pixilated
    EDIT: Schnaidt's slider set is the cure for cpu free throws lol. And make sure you set your defense to play physical. It helps with getting the cpu more free throw attempts. Like I said the Suns attempted 30 but that can vary based off the cpu teams play style.

    First 2 games on Lakers Chise since Official Release.
    Couldn't stop the 3 from Dallas, was almost cheesy in 4th especially. From Hardaway Jr. at that, I can live with Doncic doing what he does, but Hardaway hit quite a few non open stupid 3s in 4th.
    However next game was no threat from deep against Spurs, they couldn't hit and didn't really even attempt them. Lakers controlled by 10 points or so entire game for easy W.

    This is still the widely believed notion. Personally I use 30-team to up all the cpu teams play call tendency. But I just do Schnaidts rotations and don't do them for every team

    Hey Schnaidt,
    One thing I was curious about on your MyLeague settings was the attributes progression. I was looking and you said that you're going with an all default this year.
    In years past, I have liked your reasoning behind certain things like in the decline phase, not declining the shot IQ, passing IQ, freethrow, etc. because even with age, these are things that don't really fall off a cliff like athleticism (speed, acceleration, driving layup, reaction time, etc.). The default sliders don't think like that at all and they have a decline to those IQ stats in their decline phase.
    I also liked certain things in years past where you actually made the 3 point shot, mid range, draw foul, offensive/defensive consistency, etc. go up more in the peak phase than the growth phase. To me, those types of things really hit their stride for guys in the NBA around age 24 and 25, which is when most players in 2k hit their peak start. Again, the default 2k sliders don't reflect this thinking.
    So my question is, have you noticed the default 2k sliders doing a better job of progressing/regressing player in years past to where you didn't feel the need to adjust them?
    Figured I'd ask you guys, since you're offline myleague sim players like me. Worth getting for $35 in your opinion if I have a 2k20 myleague played to 2026? Thanks.

    The reason i didn't do that this year was simply balance. Those years needed a major overhaul to progression and regression. This year it isn't as crazy. I tested my sliders from last year with 2k21 and the results were completely out of wack. The numbers on default were better actually...although numbers still needed help.
    So because i didn't actually go in and set all the sliders, i couldn't create a proper balance for those areas. And because it's pretty decent out the box this year outside of a small hike in years 3 n 4 that balance out after...i didn't feel like going down that rabit hole. Not yet anyway.. Because honestly this game isn't even finished for a myleague. Player ratings haven't changed from 2k20 as the season was still going on when it released.
    I think we will get a huge roster update with badge updates and rating changes to reflect the 19-20 season going into next season after the draft when they bring those guys in.
    At that point it will be worth revising depending on how they adjust the roster. But these ratings were copy n paste from 2k20 for the most part.

    Thanks for the reply. I truly haven't gotten to test out anything in the MyLeague yet as I have just been trying to knock out my draft classes before I start. I like to get a good base of classes together between myself and JB before I start my MyLeague. I'm glad that it's not awful out of the box.

    Because of the challenge. It feels more immersive also for me having to make key adjustments in pivotal moments. I really feel like the coach haha one game against the Sixers I wanted to give Bam some rest but Embiid was killing my Heat team in the post.
    I have the CPU rotations set still so they kept him in for an extensive amount of time because he was playing so well... that led to me leaving Bam in & even attempting to throw in Haslem at him at one point.
    I absolutely hate broadcast cam, but you are right that it's too easy (with these sliders at least) on 2k cam. Do you (or any one else) have any suggestions on how to tweak the sliders to make it more challenging? I really would prefer to use a camera not from the side view- I like 2k low, player lock, etc.

    Pretty sure 1 is what is intended. His sliders had this very low setting last year also.
    But if you don't like it like that, adjust to what fools right for you. Think of these slider sets as ideas to adjust to fit your play style and preferences.
    For example, I keep On Ball D at 25 for the CPU but 65 for the Human. I like loosening up the CPU D so they are not so clingy but at the lower values I have trouble staying in front of my man, especially with some of the quicker guards.

    Correct. All sliders sets should be considered a base. I encourage everyone to consider mine as a base because everyone's skill is different, everyone's team talent level is different. It would be impossible to create a 1 size fits all slider set lol.
    Absolutely adjust anything you need to help make the experience enjoyable. That's The main goal.

    I used to feel the same way, but i forced myself to adjust to broadcast and i fell in love, it's like you are watching a game while also controlling it. Once you give it some time to will fall in love, u promise

    I feel a bit like the game is on ice, so I lowered Attribute Speed for both CPU and User to 48. Now it's playing a little less slippery (if that makes sense). Just my two cents.

    Btw, I have continued to tweak the game speed. I'm down to 43 as my overall game speed rating. And I feel like it gets rid of the ice rink skating feeling. YMMV, of course.

    I'm using them as a very strong base, however with the updated player movement, I've been making some tweaks, same goes for the shooting as that's different than current gen.

    I’m interested why your first reaction was to check Strength. I’m gonna be honest, I don’t think I’ve touched that slider in years and can’t even remember what it controls. You’d think it would affect the low post battles, but I’ve set USER strength to 0 and CPU to 100 and still easily backed down bigs in the post

    I'm using them as a very strong base, however with the updated player movement, I've been making some tweaks, same goes for the shooting as that's different than current gen.
    I do have what I'm testing uploaded if you are on ps5.

    Well, apparently nothing but it, in my opinion.. The higher the strength, the stronger the screens and lower strength = weaker screens that don't do much unless the player has badges.

    Well, apparently nothing but it, in my opinion.. The higher the strength, the stronger the screens and lower strength = weaker screens that don't do much unless the player has badges.

    Ahh, that could definitely be true. I’m gonna throw a few things at the wall tonight and see if something sticks. At the very least it will distract me from the ongoing tedium of trying to fix movement and animations (people seriously underestimate how damn boring and soul crushing it is to test the same thing over and over and over again )
    EDIT: Bro, are 2K monitoring my posts? I just told you how setting User strength to 0 and CPU strength to 100 had no affect on the low post, then 2K says it needs an update on the main menu and now strength DEFINITELY affects the low post as it should.
    Hey 2K, if you’re reading this, fix the sliders menu so that switching back and forth between User and CPU keeps the cursor on the same setting instead of jumping to the top of the page each time
    That's wild!! They also need to fix sliders saving and trying to update them. Plus camera angle never saves.
    For player movement I'm at 52 gamespeed. Acceleration at 40, speed and lateral quickness at 50. And then my player movement sliders i been using. I just switched the other stuff up though and I'm liking it

    After that you can only save changes, 0 place to load them. Weird move by 2k.

    Where do we load MyNBA settings? I can see where I can save them, but can’t figure out where to load them on the Series X version.

    I am not even seeing an option when starting. There is something on one of the menus that looks like it can be done when clicking the left stick, but it is not tied to your MyNBA settings files.
    So confusing.
    So when starting, you move to the right and click the 1 that says shared settings or something.
    There are 4 options
    Mynba, shared scenario, playoffs, and 1 other..
    To get sliders and settings, you get that other 1. Lol
