I am thinking that some player ratings need to be inflated to place the team, as a whole, in a position to play in Madden to a level somewhat resembling their NFL likeness; essentially because the AI is not capable, and the playbooks are not setup well enough, to call a game like something Belichick would call, and what I believe truly makes the Patriots a great team, more so than just having a roster of above average players.
He should be above Janoris Jenkins - and that's coming from a Giants fan.

Overall doesn't mean anything. Never understood why guys get so caught up in the numbers. Look at the individual attributes, then complain.
So what you are saying is a cornerback who is overall 85 but his man coverage attribute is 93 will play better than a cornerback who is overall 95 with a man coverage of 88?

Yes.....? in man coverage at least. the two 94 rated CBs have, if I recall, 97 man rating both of them...both with be extremely competent cover corners (as they should be...)
We shall see, I shouldn't have to adjust the A.I. pass coverage and defense pass reaction in order to get my overall 96 corner with 95 man coverage to lockdown WR'S who are overall 82.
It seems as though if you don't tweek those 2 A.I. settings, your corners(regardless of attributes) will get eaten alive by average WR'S.

Man was broken in 17 after the first few tuners but you seem obsessed with overall ratings. Those effect nothing in game.
Example:
WR 78 overall 6'1 200 pounds 91 speed 93 accel 90 catch 90 route running
Vs
CB 93 overall 5'8 170 pounds 88 speed 88 accel 99 awareness 83 man coverage
That CB will be dominated by that WR based on ratings all day, as he should be.
You need to look past the overalls and dissect the actual key ratings of players.

To be fair, we need to fully understand what the AWR attribute actually does in the game. Has EA actually gave an explanation on this attribute and how it affects a player's ability to do their role?
Yes. This is from a few years ago:
Awareness (AWR)*– Increase awareness to raise your football intelligence. Awareness is important in almost every situation. (This rating has a huge effect on the players overall rating. There are multiple aspects of the game this rating improves: Blockers will set-up and react to blocking lanes better, wide receivers will look for the ball faster on routes, defenders react to the ball faster in the air for zone and man coverage, defensive lineman will react to the run and slip screens faster.)

Excellent thanks. So my next question would be based on the example you gave earlier:
Vs
CB 93 overall 5'8 170 pounds 88 speed 88 accel 99 awareness 83 man coverage
In this situation I would think the WR would ONLY dominate this corner on Streak and Go Routes. Long bomb passes because of the speed.
But on curl routes, slants (kinda broken anyway), and other passes where the CB can make plays, wouldn't this corner still beat this WR because of that 99 awareness rating?

It's the same reasons Madden and other games use OVR's to begin with: bragging rights and it's easy to compare players. I agree that they are almost completely useless but people love having something to compare and it's a lot easier to compare players OVR than their individual ratings. It's also a natural instinct of being a sports fan to say "My guy is rated higher!!". It especially appeals to the casual audience.
Personally I would love to see all ratings hidden in sports games and instead just be given physical attributes and scouting reports, that would make franchise modes much more realistic especially when it comes to scouting/drafting.

You assumed I was fixated on overall(I stated in my previous post an example of man to man attribute)
Like I've previously stated, unless you adjust the A.I.'s(in sim franchise mode) My overall 95 corner with 95 man coverage ability will get destroyed on any sort of in cutting route or out cutting route by an overall 85 WR with 89 route running and 85 release most of the time.
Like I said, unless you tweek the A.I.'s.

Absolutely right.
However there is another reason that overall for corners matters less than other positions -- two types of coverages.
Lets say you have two corners, one is above average in both man coverage and zone coverage (85-88ish in both).
The other excels in man coverage (89+) but is below average in zone (<84).
You play primarily man coverage.
Setting aside the scheme feature in CFM,
1. Which corner probably has the higher overall?
2. Which will play better for you?
With franchise player types in mind, if you go in and set player type for any position to something other than balanced it will alter the top position rankings in the league.
He should at least be a 90 OVR with 88-90 press,man coverage and zone coverage.

A YouTube video with highlight plays does not show the whole story. I'm not saying he shouldn't be, as I've never really watched him. But I could show you highlight reels of people who fell out of the NFL by 25, that would say they should rated in the 90s.
Never said it was a highlight video. It was a breakdown of Ramsey being able to play his cornerback position in a multitude of ways. They also shown where he gotten beat on certain plays/routes at the beginning of the season but learned from his mistakes towards the end of the season. So, it just weren't Ramsey highlights reel, It was actual film breakdown and technique breakdown and schematic breakdown.
