Assetto Corsa Competizione 1.8 Update to Release in September For PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

The Assetto Corsa Competizione 1.8 update is tentatively scheduled to release in September for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The update arrived last November for PC featuring improvements to the physics, handling and tires.

The new model causes the tires to be more sensitive over the course of a race which can change a number of things with your possible driving style. Scrubbing the tires can lead to increased wear and loss of grip, this will reduce the longevity of the rubber and could result in a drop off in lap times. Scrubbing and sliding are not the only things that can further impact wear. Set up plays an even more important role and adjusting camber can greatly alter the grip of the outside, middle and inside of the tire.

It’s not a simple copy and paste from PC to the new consoles. Unique coding must be applied to every single car, every single corner which includes the curbs, the run off areas both in the wet and dry across every single track in ACC and tested to make sure it works correctly. The team also mentions any DLC updates will be released later into the year after 1.8 is available.

Just started playing this on my ps5 and its amazing.
Humbling as hell, but I'm still having a blast

It's my favorite console racing game on the market. I wish I could manage pit stops a little better. I know myself out of being competitive in 90% of the races because I find the pit controls to be clumsy. About a third of the time I'll commit a pit violation that I have to serve with a drive through, putting me even further behind. I love the racing before the pit stop though. I usually move up in the standings usually.
Anxious to see what they do with this update. I'm surprised they're willing to make such a comprehensive update to a game that's now this old!?

I haven't figured out the stop and go penalies. Got a exiting pit lane too fast violation and was given a 30 stop and go. Well stopping for 30 minutes didn't do the trick

You've just better described what's giving me the most problem... the stop and go penalty. I don't know that ever ever properly served one. I know several times I thought I had and actually finished the race in the top 15, only to find out that I'd been disqualified for failing to serve the penalty!? There are so many cryptic characters on the HUD that I'm overlooking whatever is telling me I have a penalty to serve.
Maybe there's a tutorial video that helps with this? I'm to blame for not educating myself on how this is supposed to be done. Still, there's just an awkward interface feel to the pitting phase of this game.

I consulted the google and apparently the stop and go penalty must be served in your pitbox. Drive through pitlane then chill in your box for 30 seconds

I see... thanks for finding that. I think I've been starting back up as soon as I come to stop in the pit. I'll try this out. I've got the pit speed limiter on, so I'm trying to figure out where it is that I'm exceeding the speed limit? There must be a region short of the line where the limiter goes into effect that I'm overlooking where I could be speeding?

You need to be in first gear for the limiter to engage.

Ah yes... that makes total sense to me now! Most of the time I know good and well I'm still in second gear when I hit the pit boundary line. This should open a whole new world of Assetto Corsa Competizione for me ;) I need to start reading game instructions again!!
