When Will Pokémon Champions Come to Mobile?

The iOS and Android drop!

Nintendo has an age-old history of releasing games exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. The newest title, Pokémon Champions, is no different, at least for now. The game was released a few days ago for the Nintendo Switch, however, we’re hearing reports of it also coming to mobile pretty soon. How much truth is behind those rumours? Let’s find out.

Yes. The game will be released on mobile as well; this has been confirmed by Nintendo. Right now, players can only play on the Nintendo Switch; however, Nintendo had this to say about the game:

“Pokémon Champions brings the core Pokémon battling experience to more players than ever before, with both Nintendo Switch and smartphone users able to enjoy strategic battles against each other featuring different Pokémon types, abilities and move selections”.

As for when that will happen, we don’t have an exact date on hand at the moment, but leaks suggest Nintendo is targeting a mid-2026 release date. The Pokémon Champions Korean website mentioned that the game is expected to release on mobile around the 2nd week of June, two months after the game’s initial release on Nintendo Switch.

Fans have backed this up with the fact that previously, Pokémon Unite also took two months to release on mobile after its global launch.

Will The Game Be Cross-Platform?

As far as I know, for now, yes, the game will have cross-platform compatibility. This is so players can switch between their Switch and phones at their convenience. Since a cross between iOS/Android and Nintendo won’t have the same compatibility issues as with Nintendo and consoles, we’re hoping that the bugs will be to a minimum. Plus, most, if not all, the features will be able to remain the same on both platforms.
