'There's no perfect word to explain how unreal this dude is': Josh Allen's receiver reveals what happens every single game that leaves teammates stunned

Nothing seems to be impossible when this guy plays.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir still can’t get over how good his quarterback Josh Allen is at making impossible plays happen. Even after watching Allen for years, Shakir says the star QB pulls off miracle throws multiple times in every single game. You’d think his teammates would get used to it by now, but they haven’t. Shakir recently said that even Allen’s regular crazy plays leave everyone shocked.

A recent game showed exactly what Shakir means. The Bills were losing by two scores on a snowy afternoon in Buffalo. They faced fourth-and-4, a must-convert situation. Allen rolled right while defenders chased him down. Somehow, he threw the ball between two Bengals players and hit Shakir perfectly for a touchdown. That play should have been impossible, but for Allen, it’s just normal.

According to Sports Illustrated, Shakir put it simply: “There’s no perfect word to explain how unreal this dude is. He’s amazing.” Because Allen makes these wild plays so often, receivers can never stop trying during any play. Shakir explained that it’s the receivers’ and tight ends’ job to keep moving and find open space when plays break down.

Allen’s magic happens so often that teammates expect the impossible now

“Our job as receivers and the tight ends is to scramble drill,” Shakir said. They try to get open and make plays for Allen. The team knows they have the best player in the league, and he’s going to make “unreal throws,” so they need to stay ready for him.

Other Bills players feel the same way about Allen. Cornerback Christian Benford has said Allen’s plays look like something from the Madden video game. Coach Sean McDermott says Allen has that special “it-factor” that can’t be taught. Allen’s athleticism goes beyond just throwing, as he recently broke the NFL rushing touchdown record. Shakir mentioned this happens every week.

“The stuff that he does every single game – and it’s multiple times a game – every game that you’re like, ‘Oh, that might be his best play.’ And then the next play happens, you’re like, ‘No, that might be it,'” Shakir said. Every time Allen plays, he does things that drop jaws and make people wonder how he pulled it off.

Shakir didn’t join Allen until 2022, when Allen was already a top quarterback. But Shakir knew about Allen’s talent from college. Shakir played at Boise State, which competed against Allen’s school, Wyoming. He remembered his defensive teammates being relieved when Allen left college. They would say, “Thank God that quarterback is gone.”

Four years later, the Bills drafted Shakir in the fifth round. Like Allen, who was also a fifth-round pick, Shakir felt Buffalo was the right place for him. Getting drafted by Buffalo meant playing with Allen, which excited him.

“When I got the call that I was coming to Buffalo man, I was just excited,” he said. Watching Allen’s magic in person beats just hearing stories about it. Some analysts have even compared Allen’s skills to Patrick Mahomes in recent debates. Now, Shakir wants to help Allen and the Bills win their first Super Bowl championship.
