The studio confirmed that Game Update 4 is in development and will focus heavily on addressing these issues, with multiple fixes already being tested and prepared for release. Not only are they going to be server updates, but also a lot of client-side fixes that should make the experience much better.

This comes after what has been a difficult first few weeks for the game. Since launch, players have encountered repeated server outages, matchmaking failures, and bugs affecting core modes like Diamond Dynasty. There are countless reports of users being disconnected mid-game, losing progress, or failing to even access online modes have been widespread.

An issue regarding prospect pipelines in Franchise mode was also addressed, though only briefly.

In some cases, the problems have extended beyond simple connectivity. Players have also experienced UI glitches, crashes in modes like Mini Seasons, and inconsistent matchmaking systems. All of which resulted in a frustrating experience.

Despite this, San Diego Studio emphasized during the livestream that fixes are already rolling out incrementally, with Update 4 expected to deliver more meaningful improvements.

While full patch notes have yet to be revealed, the developers made it clear that Game Update 4 is being built with stability at the forefront.

The focus appears to be on improving server reliability, reducing disconnect frequency, and addressing backend issues tied to online progression and even client side fixes. Given how central online modes are to MLB The Show 26, especially Diamond Dynasty, these fixes could significantly improve the overall experience if implemented successfully.

If Update 4 delivers meaningful improvements, it could help stabilize the experience and restore confidence heading into the heart of the game’s lifecycle. But if problems persist, the game could lose a lot of players at one of the most profitable points for the game.
