NHL 22 Reveal Trailer Coming August 19 (Teaser Added) - Any Expectations or Predictions?

EA has announced plans to reveal their NHL 22 trailer on August 19 at 11:00 AM ET. If the upcoming trailer and possible announcements are anything like previous years, we could get the official NHL 22 cover athlete, release date, screenshots and a few other details as well.

Nothing but the NHL 22 trailer is set in stone, so we could simply see a schedule of events for NHL 22 feature reveals and other announcements prior to release. The NHL 22 technical test is just around the corner, so we could get further details on that very soon.

With that said, let’s hear your expectations and predictions for the NHL 22 trailer here!

UPDATE: (8-17) The team has posted a teaser for the upcoming NHL 22 trailer.

  1. Not holding my breath. If smarter AI and revamped goalie play along with Franchise improvements are in the initial bullet points, I'll be intrigued.
Otherwise, it'll be a pass for me yet again (for the 8th straight year).

Excited to see what they reveal, but not holding my breath for anything substantial - but here's hoping!

am expectation is low to moderate, but I do suspect 1 setting will be definitely in NHL 22, that is shot attempts stat, cause if FIFA 21 had shot attempts so will NHL 22, as they kinda follow the narrative both equally, now I also suspect in all-powerful expanded approach for be a pro and goalies too.
looking interested into gameplay refinements too.
again low to moderate expectations for NHL 22
Expecting to be disappointed again. Same team working on the game. Expect the same. Like nddurst, I've passed on EA NHL for the past 7 years. Just not a fan of the team working on the game and series anymore. I wish we had competition and another hockey game to look forward too.
i just wish the hitz series would get on ps4.
tge goalies alone in that game make it more enjoyable than any ea game since nhl 93.
goals are exciting and different. goalies do not seem scripted. lots of fun and different goals
Looking forward to the reveal. Still quite skeptical. Also highly curious of the release day choice. They had the expansion draft and entry draft on the NHL's big return to ESPN and instead chose a random Thursday in August at 8am, when the big Call of Duty reveal is a few hours later.
What worries me,(and I really hope I’m wrong) is that they will start bragging on world of che or hut, please let it be about gameplay ,allowing us to control more than one team in franchise.Heavy neutral zone pressure, smarter ai on cpu and human teams.

Maybe they'll announce that Rammer is retiring, in order to run for a seat in the Canadian Parliament?  He'd make for the perfect back-bencher.  Hey, we can dream, right?

NHL Hitz goalies actually have to plant their feet to move unlike in this game lol...A game from 2001-2003 requires goalie foot planting which inevitably leads to more realistic desperation than a game from 2020...classic EA

Shot attempts have been tracked in FIFA for well over a decade if not more. Shot attempts is one of the main stats in soccer (along with shots on target) whereas it's more of a secondary stat in hockey.
So that stat being in FIFA 21 was not new or something that means anything for NHL 22.
The Winter Classic & Stadium Series games/venues would be welcomed.
MLB the Show 21 was able to patch in the Field of Dreams stadium so it would be nice if EA stepped up with NHL.
Expectations are incredibly low from me. New gen and new engine so I'm expecting a lot of bugs, glitches and missing features.

I think everyone on this thread right now could be my best friend. Ever since Rammer took over and really started to put his stink on the game in 2013 the game has been trash. Don't get me started on the first two years on PS4 . Guy is clueless. I skipped last year. Year before I regret buying it. Trash on PS4.

There are the same number of years between NHL 94 and NHL 08 as there are between NHL 08 and NHL 22, which is crazy to think about because NHL 08 and NHL 22 will probably pretty much play the same

Seems to be a leak that says next-gen consoles will have Frostbite engine and Superstar X-factors like Madden.
    Teaser trailer - https://twitter.com/EASPORTSNHL/status/1427661742688063499

This was on their page and then taken down. I didn't think Madden improved with Frostbite, so I'm not that excited about NHL. I like the sound of the Superstar X-Factor found in Madden
“Superstar X-Factors lets you feel the personality and power of NHL superstars with an all-new ability system that unlocks the unique skills of the league’s most elite players,” the page continued. “Authentic to real player skill and style, the stars of the NHL truly come to life in EA SPORTS NHL 22 making their time on ice more influential than ever.
Means that Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner will disappear in the playoffs.
OH and the fact that this is how they chose to word the X-Factor spot on their page:
“From HUT to World of Chel, Superstar X-Factors brings new class based strategy to every game mode. EA SPORTS NHL 22 is an all new game for a new generation, giving you more ways to play and compete than ever before. This is breakthrough hockey.”
Guess Franchise and franchise players can go **** themselves.
How about all-star weekend in franchise mode? Outdoor games? More uniform templates and logos for custom teams, not to mention the arena name around the center circle in custom arenas? A refined coaching carousel?
    Hoping for some. Expecting none.
Franchise improvements, neutral zone pressure, improved board play, improved net front play. Less contrast north south gameplay. Have a legit sim setting. Real coaches. The additions to scouting were great last year. Draft day improvements. Would love classic teams not just classic players.  Improved end of period and game broadcast elements. Would love a weekly wrap up show but that isn’t happening. Most importantly players playing like they do in real life. More need to be done to separate top liners from 4th and top pair d me. From bottom pair. The only difference you feel in certain players is skating speed or shit speed. Also I just want franchise mode to feel alive.
Does that mean that offline franchise players won’t have x-factors? I hope it’s for franchise to and not just chel and hut.

It says it will be on all game modes.
I just had a pickle moment, my expectations are now set too high and a lot higher. upon seeing a little video at EA Sports forums. including my rating for next-gen just went up to high and higher.
I kind of hate the X factors in Madden and am not looking forward to how they break NHL.
Again. If your underlying gameplay and ratings worked to begin with you wouldn't have to resort to over the top abilities to make players feel different.

I dunno. It could be fun if it gives another wrinkle to the gameplay other than dangle, cross-crease, one-t

The first year of the X-Factors in Madden they were way overpowered, but it’s better now. It does show player separation, though I could do without them flashing during play.

Honestly, I like the sense of dread an active X-Factor inspires, like when a superstar has gone into a zone.

I don't know... I mean, NHL 2K10 had player separation and they didn't need X-Factors. Only Ovie could do the behind the back shot while falling. Only he was able to celebrate his 50th goal by doing his "stick is too hot" celebration. Superstars would be able to do certain moves depending on their stats while run of the mill players couldn't... And if you got them to do it, it was a fluke, just like in real life.
Over on NBA 2K, Atentokoumpo has individual dribbling, size ups and shooting animations that sets him apart from other players. Same with Curry, or AD or about 100 of the top stars in their league. You can tell who they are just by how they look and move on the court. And you won't see a bench warmer rack up 50 points a night.
I don't know. It is EA we're talking about. Yeah, 2K lately has been just as greedy as they are, but at least NBA 2K is miles, miles ahead in terms of gameplayl. When EA's NHL plays 50.... Nah, even just 25% of what NBA 2k does. Then we'll call it a win.
I'd like to be more optimistic, but it's been almost 15 years we've been let down by EA. Until then, this is just another EA trailer. Show me gameplay, EA.
