This is obviously not the NFL 2K news we had hoped for today, but the NFL, NFLPA and 2K have announced NFL 2K Playmakers, a new non-simulation tactical card battler is available now for iOS and Android devices. Players who install NFL 2K Playmakers and set up an account prior to May 7, will receive an exclusive launch bundle, featuring a Player Card for Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud.
In NFL 2K Playmakers, players can gather NFL player cards to construct rosters for offense, defense and special teams. Users can enhance their card collection by advancing through various game modes and exploring features to include the following:
- – Red Zone Drive Mode – In Red Zone Drive, decisions made on the field matter. Apply your NFL knowledge, call strategic plays and watch your team execute on the field. Draft a custom roster of NFL player cards as you chase the win and earn rewards across different regions.
- – Seasons Mode – Build your dream team and lead them through an NFL season on your way to a Super Bowl victory. Join an NFL season and earn your way into the playoffs for a chance at becoming a Super Bowl Champion.
- – Leverage Real NFL Results – Starting this upcoming 2024 NFL season, make predictions about upcoming real NFL games to score points for a chance to win in-game rewards. More information will be available at the start of the 2024-2025 NFL season.
As a few have mentioned in the community, this could serve as laying the groundwork for an upcoming console release, but as a non-simulation football game it really isn’t going to excite too many OSers. The real hope is that the NFL and EA don’t extend their exclusive partnership, that goes through 2026, then we can really get excited.
