MLB The Show 26 introduced a brand new PCI Sensitivity that lets you adjust everything for zone hitters. It’s one of those features that changes the feel at the plate. Get it right, and you will be lining up heaters before you even realize it.
What PCI Sensitivity Does
PCI sensitivity basically controls how quickly your Plate Coverage Indicator moves when you use the analog stick. If you set it high, your PCI snaps across the zone for instant reactions to inside heaters or fastballs. If you dial it down, you will get slower, steadier movement to avoid crazy overshoots. This setting is a first for the franchise, providing a new layer of customization that is much welcomed.
A lot of players tweak the sensitivity depending on their controller and playstyle. It’s all up to personal preference, so play around and adjust it to your liking.
How To Access And Adjust The PCI Sensitivity Slider

Access the PCI sensitivity slider by going into Settings > Gameplay or Controls > Batting. Scroll over to PCI Sensitivity under the Zone interface to adjust it.
Pair it with these meta settings for best results:
- Hitting Interface: Zone
- PCI Anchor: Off (full movement freedom)
- PCI Style: Bat or Diamonds
Save your settings, then head into Practice Mode to test out your new settings. Face a bunch of 95+ mph fastballs and see what the difference feels like for you.
Find What Fits You
Finding the sweet spot does take a little trial and error, as everyone has different preferences. You can set the PCI sensitivity higher if you play online at Legend difficulty, where the game demands quick reactions. If you PCI sweeps past pitches too quickly, dial it down a bit. You want speed for quick reactions, but also control to prevent overshoots
Controller makes a difference as well. PS5 sticks feel a bit firmer, so some people prefer a lower sensitivity as compared to an Xbox controller. Watch your contact quality in the statistics menu post-session.
A good starting point is to keep sensitivity near default and adjust it one or two notches at a time until it feels comfortable.
Practice Makes Perfect
For drills, hit the Practice Mode daily as part of your gaming routine. Set the pitcher in the Hall of Fame with a random pitch mix. Run through 10-pitch sets: five fastballs inside, five breaking away. Try timing your stick movement half a beat earlier on slower pitches.
If you want to check your PCI path accuracy, record a session and review it. If your PCI jumps around, drop sensitivity. If it’s sluggish, bump it up. Play a few exhibition games at your chosen difficulty, then ease the AI down if you need to test stuff.
Mix in Fixed Zone for zone hunting drills. Park the PCI low-away and sit on changeups.
