Best Ways to Go “No Money Spent” in MLB The Show 26

You don't need to open your wallet to have fun.

Every year when MLB The Show 26 launches, a big portion of the community begins the same challenge: building a competitive Diamond Dynasty squad without spending a single dollar. Some do it because they don’t want to spend money on a game, while others take it as a challenge.

The “No Money Spent” approach has become quite popular in the MLB The Show franchise. Instead of pouring money on packs or Stubs, players prefer grinding out the objectives, completing missions, and slowly building a roster that rewards that grind. Not to mention, MLB The Show isn’t as money-hungry as other Ultimate Team-style modes, so you can achieve a 99 OVR time just by grinding and playing smart.

The good news for those players is that MLB The Show 26 may once again be extremely friendly to that playstyle. Programs appear packed with rewards, World Baseball Classic content is everywhere, and there are multiple ways to earn Diamond players simply by playing the game.

If you’re planning to run a No Money Spent team this year, here are the best ways to achieve that.

Start With Programs Before Anything Else

When you are starting from scratch, it’s very important to start with the programs. MLB The Show 26 launches with several Programs that are designed to give you a good foundation and quick head start. Completing these programs will set you up quickly for the future. Here are the programs that you should focus on first.

The Starter Program is the obvious first stop. It’s meant to quickly build up a new Diamond Dynasty roster and provides early Gold cards of players like Felix Hernandez, Albert Pujols, and Troy Tulowitzki. These won’t carry your team all season, but they immediately make your lineup more playable while you begin working toward bigger rewards.

However, MLB The Show 26 is emphasizing World Baseball Classic programs, and you should focus on them as well. These are programs associated with the World Baseball Classic international tournament.

Each of these programs focuses on a different pool of teams and is loaded with content to unlock. Some of them even contain Diamond players that can be easily earned through completing gameplay objectives and missions.

In fact, several of these programs feature a couple of Diamond cards each. That means players could potentially get a lot of Diamond players just by completing the launch programs alone. Headliner rewards include players like Nolan Arenado, Bryce Harper, and Didi Gregorius, which is a massive boost for anyone trying to avoid spending stubs.

Even the Gold cards within these programs shouldn’t be ignored. Many of them are useful early-game pieces that can fill out bench roles.

Stack Missions And Play Efficiently

When you are going for the NMS route, it’s important to be efficient with it. Just grinding non-stop is a waste of time. You do this by stacking missions and playing efficiently.

Diamond Dynasty offers a huge number of objectives, and you can get many of them to overlap if you build your lineup correctly.

For example, you might play an Events game using players tied to a specific program while also progressing a multiplayer objective and earning Team Affinity stats at the same time. When done correctly, a single game can push forward progress in three or four different places.

Events are especially useful this year because they allow players to grind online without committing to full-length ranked games. They’re shorter and easier to jump into, which makes them perfect for players who want to complete missions quickly while still earning rewards.

Events also contribute to additional programs that feature players such as Bryce Terang, meaning they serve multiple purposes at once.

The key takeaway is simple: build your lineup with program missions in mind. If every player in your lineup contributes to some objective, your progress will move much faster.

Team Affinity And Offline Modes Still Matter

Team Affinity once again looks like a major part of the early grind. In MLB The Show 26, each MLB team appears to feature two Diamond rewards, one pitcher and one hitter. These can be useful for making your foundational lineup.

For players who enjoy building theme teams, this also makes it easier to create competitive lineups tied to a specific franchise.

Offline players still have plenty of content to explore as well. Conquest returns with its usual hidden packs and reward spaces scattered across the map, making it one of the easiest ways to earn free items early in the year.

The new Diamond Quest mode also offers additional challenges that can reward items and cards that can either strengthen your roster or be sold for stubs on the marketplace.

One of the more interesting additions this year is a World Baseball Classic-themed Mini Seasons mode. In this mode, players compete through pool play before advancing to a knockout-style tournament, similar to the real-life event. The rewards include players like Cal Raleigh, giving No Money Spent players another opportunity to earn high-quality cards simply by completing content.

All of these modes combined can easily help you build a capable squad, as well as help you get Stubs much more easily.

Parallel Mods Could Be A Huge NMS Advantage

Parallel Mods are a new feature in MLB The Show 26. Piggybacking on the previous Parallel system, Mods allow players to tweak and enhance attributes on their cards, which means a player you enjoy using can remain viable longer instead of constantly being replaced by newer cards.

This system encourages players to parallel their favorite cards and invest time into upgrading them rather than chasing every new release. For NMS players, that’s a big deal because it means a card earned through programs could stay relevant well into the season if upgraded correctly.

Why MLB The Show Still Works For No Money Spent

The biggest takeaway from early MLB The Show 26 content is that the game still seems built around rewarding gameplay rather than purchases. Between the massive number of launch programs, the World Baseball Classic content, Team Affinity rewards, and multiple offline modes, players have dozens of ways to earn strong cards without touching the in-game store.

For No Money Spent players, success usually comes down to patience and smart grinding. Focus on programs first, stack objectives whenever possible, and prioritize guaranteed rewards over pack gambling. If the launch structure holds up throughout the season, Diamond Dynasty should once again be one of the most rewarding Ultimate Team-style modes in sports gaming.
