MLB The Show 25 Predicts the 2025 World Series Champions

The results will surprise you!

All the talk is over — the 2025 Major League Baseball season is now upon us. And already, the predictions have come pouring in. Even MLB The Show 25 developers, San Diego Studio, have gotten in on the fun! To celebrate the 2025 MLB season being officially underway, SDS has revealed some of the results from simming the upcoming season in Franchise mode. And they are bold, to say the least.

For one, Tyler Glasnow is shown to have won the National League Cy Young in 2025, which is quite the eye-catcher considering he plays in the same league as one Paul Skenes and has struggled to stay off the injured list. The game also predicts Aaron Judge will repeat as the American League MVP, which isn’t a stretch if the Yankees’ captain can stay healthy.

But what about who wins the World Series? Well, MLB The Show 25 has spoken. And it isn’t who you think it is.

MLB The Show 25 Has The New York Yankees Winning The 2025 World Series

As it stands, few people have the New York Yankees going far this season. While most have accepted that the Yanks are destined for October baseball, the idea of them playing in the October Classic wouldn’t be what I would consider to be a big narrative. Not only does MLB The Show 25‘s Franchise mode simulate the Yankees being in the World Series, but the game also thinks the team will reign supreme and bring a 28th World Series title to the Bronx. According to the 2025 simulation, the Yankees are earmarked to beat the Philadelphia Phillies in six games.

Obviously, most of the discourse surrounding the Yankees during the offseason and Spring Training has been of losing Juan Soto to the rival Mets, and the litany of injuries to Gerrit Cole, Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Gil, and Clarke Schmidt. That said (and maybe this is the blind optimism of a Yankees fan), it’d be disingenuous to suggest that the Yanks are dead in the water.

Nobody can replace Juan Soto or his 2024 contributions. At least, not individually. But the Yankees have made some moves that have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2025 season. Cody Bellinger, a former NL MVP, joined the team after a trade with the Chicago Cubs, and I expect his lefty bat to find more than a few homers over Yankee Stadium’s notorious short porch in right field. And though he’s obviously in a regression as his career wanes, veteran Paul Goldschmidt shouldn’t have much trouble contributing more than what Anthony Rizzo’s abysmal 2024 season produced. There is also Max Fried, who has been one of, if not the most consistent, pitchers in baseball over the last several seasons. Oh, and they still have Aaron Judge, who is undeniably the best hitter in the Bigs.

Lastly, a few of the Yanks’ top prospects seem ready to take the next step and contribute their fair share. Catcher Austin Wells has a swing tailor-made for Yankee Stadium and is well suited to be a hot bat at the top of the lineup, Jasson Dominguez has all of the tools and can’t be much worse than Alex Verdugo was, and I feel Anthony Volpe still has another gear in him.

It’s certainly a bold prediction, especially with the Los Angeles Dodgers still having easily the best roster in baseball. But should the Yankees make the midseason moves to replace Cole in the starting rotation and maybe add one more bat, the sky is truly the limit for the Bronx Bombers.
