MLB The Show 25 Franchise Mode: How Accurate Are the Simulated Stats?

Have you ever played MLB the Show’s franchise mode and noticed that some of the simulated stats are a little off? Don’t get me wrong—MLB The Show 25’s franchise stats are immeasurably better than their peers like Madden and NBA 2K, but there are still some hiccups in the simulation logic.

These are little things that I’ve noticed after playing the game for so many years, but I’ve never been able to quantify them. So I set out to do just that; I simmed the first year of three different franchise saves and tracked all the relevant stats.

MLB The Show has more hits and fewer strikeouts than real life, resulting in higher OBP and slugging, but the total runs are similar to the actual MLB. Runners on the base paths are more aggressive but are thrown out at a much higher rate in The Show, and more runners are seemingly left on base in the game as opposed to the MLB.

Closers are much more effective in the game, leading to more saves and fewer blown saves. Pitchers generally had lower ERAs but higher WHIPs. 

The Coors effect did not appear in the stats despite being advertised as a feature; that may be because it is only for in-game use and not simulation.
