Additionally, MLB The Show will not be coming to Xbox One either. It looks like Sony is moving on from this generation of consoles, which is frustrating for a whole group of gamers. MLB The Show has also announced that The Show 25 will not be a part of Xbox Game Pass. So this means that users will have to buy the game outright.
Why Is MLB The Show 25 Not Coming To PS4 And Xbox One?
There has been no official statement by the developers, San Diego Studio, as to why MLB The Show 25 will not be on these older consoles. The biggest point that has gamers stumped is that MLB The Show 25 will still be released on Nintendo Switch. This rules out any processing power issues, as the PS4 and Xbox One are more powerful than the Switch.
This could be due to the limitations of designing a game for next-gen and older consoles. San Diego Studios may have had to spend more money figuring out ways to push technological advancements while also keeping within the restrictions of the PS4 or Xbox One set.
It is unfortunate for a range of baseball fans and could also be detrimental to game sales. I’m sure they have done the maths, but only releasing on next-gen consoles could massively reduce the amount of game sales MLB The Show 25 gets. It would be interesting to see how much of an effect this has on the game’s success.
On one hand, people are angry as new games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will be released on PS4 and Xbox One. So it doesn’t mean that these consoles can’t handle new games (I know THPS 3+4 is a remake but they are making the game from the ground up.) On the other hand, people are saying that these consoles are now five years old. They claim this is an accurate time for developers to stop considering old consoles and look to the future.
