Developers reacting to speedruns of games they’ve made is far and away my favorite regular video feature IGN puts out. This one is a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remaster speedrun, and it involves four developers from the game.
As someone who has been trying to reclaim his former glory in this game and hit new high-score combos, it’s incredible to see some of the stuff being pulled off here, and it’s made even better by the developers being in pure awe of what’s happening as well. Plus, if you care about how games are made, these developer react videos always have tons of insight into the process of how things came together during production.
The speedruns being shown off here are from JoeRandom and George, and the developers from Vicarious Visions reacting are senior designer Andy Gentile, senior level designer Rachel Maille, level design lead Nicole Thayer, and associate producer Stephanie Relyea.
