How to Update Rosters in MLB The Show 26

Refresh.

Catching up with the latest rosters is pretty straightforward in MLB The Show 26. There are different ways for different game modes. Exhibition games use the Live Roster system automatically, but for Franchise mode, you have to load the latest roster before starting a new save.

The Show 26 has its first roster update focused on transactions, set to roll out Friday, March 27. After that, the game follows with weekly transaction updates through the season. For attribute-based roster updates, they will arrive every 3 to 5 weeks, with the first scheduled for Friday, May 8.

The latest Live Roster is automatically downloaded when you launch The Show 26. Exhibition mode uses this, so any recent trades, call-ups, or lineup changes will appear automatically. There’s no need for you to do anything.

If you want to hop into a quick game with current MLB rosters, Exhibition is the simplest option. The game handles the update side for you, so you can focus on playing instead of managing any files.

Updating Franchise Rosters

Franchise mode gets a bit more hands-on with the latest rosters. To get started, head to Settings, File Management, Load, select Roster, and pick Live Roster. Then, start a new Franchise and make sure you pick the current roster so the save begins with the latest changes.

One thing to remember, though, you cannot fully update the roster inside an existing Franchise save. If you’ve started your save before a roster move went through, you’ll have to start over to see those changes.

Best Way To Stay Updated

For the cleanest experience, load the Live Roster right before setting up for any long Franchise run. If you prefer realism, check the weekly transaction update schedule before committing to a save. That way, you won’t miss anything, especially in the early season when rosters change fast.

If you stick to Exhibition games, you’re already covered. On the other hand, Franchise mode players can build a habit to confirm the latest roster first, then start a save.

Lastly, make sure The Show 26 is connected to the internet before playing. That way, the game can automatically download the latest roster updates. This small step will save you from building a Franchise around outdated lineups, benches, and rotations.
