FIFA 21 Features Revealed For PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S - Speed Trailer, Screenshots & More Details

As promised, EA has revealed their FIFA 21 features for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S featuring next level audio, visuals and movement. PlayStation 5 players can experience an upgraded feel for the game, literally with the adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller. Gamers can feel resistance in the triggers as the players they are controlling get tired. You can also feel vibrations on either side of the controller, depending on the foot you kick with.

The sights and sounds of FIFA 21 are reimagined for next generation consoles, with the brand new EA SPORTS GameCam, inspired by the look and feel of top-level football broadcasts and LiveLight Rendering, a deferred lighting system that enhances every aspect of the on-pitch experience.

Thousands of authentic chants captured exclusively from the world’s biggest competitions, including the Premier League, La Liga and the Bundesliga, deliver the ultimate EA SPORTS Atmospheric Audio experience.

Next-gen technology powered by Frostbite delivers an unprecedented level of player fidelity. Fans can enjoy deeper definition in player physiques, including flexing muscles after strikes and strand-based hair on some of the top footballers, combined with dynamic lighting that accentuates footballers’ faces and kits for a whole new level of realism. New pre-game cinematics such as team buses arriving prior to kick-off and the buzz of fans entering through the turnstiles have been added to further immerse fans in the total matchday experience. During live games, new contextual player, bench, and fan reactions respond to key match situations, allowing players to feel the explosive passion and intense drama of big goal moments like last-minute winners or relegation-saving equalizers.

New technology enables players to experience more authentic movement with enhanced length and visual quality of player animations, providing ultra-responsive and realistic maneuvers in every situation on the pitch. Off-ball humanization creates authentic character behaviours that enable fans to feel all the emotion of football at the highest level, from a player adjusting shin pads in the 89th minute to one screaming for a through ball from a teammate. Frostbite’s advanced interaction system brings the Real Player Motion Technology system to life as players jostle, push, and pull in battles for possession with more responsiveness than ever before.

PS5 DualSense Haptics

From last-ditch goal saving blocks to in-off-the-bar screamers, a new DualSense controller on PlayStation 5 with rich and responsive haptic feedback deepens the gameplay experience. Sense the impact of shots, passes, and tackles with immersive controller haptics that respond to what happens on the pitch to let you feel the rhythm of the game in your hands.

Push-Pull Physics

An expanded player interaction system brings our Real Player Motion Technology (RPMT) into the fight for the ball. Feel enhanced physicality in the battle for possession during open play and in set piece situations as players jostle, push, and pull with more responsiveness than ever before.

Sights & Sounds

With thousands of authentic chants, captured exclusively from the world’s biggest competitions, including the Premier League, LaLiga Santander and the Bundesliga, FIFA 21 on both current and next gen brings you the ultimate EA SPORTS Atmospheric Audio experience, unparalleled in sports video games.

Next Level Realism

Next-gen technology creates a greater definition of player physique. Muscles flex after striking the ball, Frostbite™-enabled strand-based hair responds authentically to player movement for some of the games biggest stars, and enhanced realism of faces and kit cloth take the world’s best players to a whole new level of dynamic realism.

Responsive Multi-Touch Animations

New gameplay technology enhances the visual quality and responsiveness of linked animations on the ball, enabling you to experience fluid and realistic player movement. Players now take more human contextual touches, reducing mechanical, robotic movement.

Off-Ball Humanization

From tiredly adjusting shin pads in the 89th minute to screaming for a through ball from a team mate, Off-Ball Humanization creates visual animation texture and authentic character behaviours that let you feel all the emotion of football at the highest level.

GameCam

Inspired by the look and feel of top-level football broadcasts, a new gameplay camera gives you a fresh perspective on every match. See more of the pitch to help you plan your build-up play or block passing lanes, and watch home and away fans react to the game in real time.

PreMatch Live

New pre-game cinematics deliver an unprecedented matchday experience to immerse you in the sights and sounds of football at the highest level. See team buses arrive at the ground prior to kick-off, feel the buzz as fans enter through the turnstiles, and watch players pass through the media zone on their way to the pitch.

Big Goal Moments

Some goals just mean more. New contextual player, bench, and fan reactions respond to the match situation to let you feel the explosive emotion and drama of a last-minute UEFA Champions League winner or a relegation-saving equaliser.

Lightning Fast Load Times

The power of next generation consoles delivers faster load times that get you in the game quicker than ever before.  In FIFA 21, you’ll go from menu to kick-off in under two seconds*.

*Load time is representative of Kick-off mode to match on PS5 and Xbox Series X only.

PlayStation Activities

Whether your next game is a Career Mode title decider or you’re getting ready to take on the world with your VOLTA SQUAD, PlayStation Activities lets you jump straight from the PlayStation home screen into your favourite game mode to get you into the action quicker.

  1. "displaying more human behaviour like cleaning sweat from their face after a run, shouting for a pass, and regaining their breath after sprinting"
Meh so that's what they meant by off ball humanization. Random passive animations not related to gameplay. I was hoping for AI defenders not being total zombies or keepers not falling like dead weight and missing easy saves.
Controller feedback is cool. Don't know how much of a game changer it will but could be interesting.
Lighting and atmosphere are whatever as that should be expected.
Everything is animations based with EA and that's half the battle when playing their sports titles. They need to work in actual ball and collision physics rather than only having everything animations based.
I'm still set on no game of FIFA will ever touch my PS5 without some high praise from people I trust.

You must not have read the article lol

I did. What jumped out to you as a different game? It's taking advantage of the PS5 controller, graphics, and load times.

For starters - New movement, new camera angle, controller haptics... It's not NBA2K revolutionary but it's a free upgrade for a game that came out a little over a month ago so that should set expectations.
About what I expected considering it's a free upgrade. No mention of player models/body types... I thought that was in the early info. Or was that a Madden-only thing since that info was kind of lumped together?
Still hoping the biggest upgrade of tuning gameplay to improve def awareness and cpu shooting/crossing behavior might come in an update once they have the next gen launch off their plate.
These trailers and words on paper don't mean sh*t coming from EA. They been doing this for years if not decades: their marketing department is pretty good in writing and summing up new stuff, but like Madden, dont tell us, show us. If it is all as good as they ought it to be then why not just release actual gameplay video's showing us the differences.
Take a note from SSD and 2k, EA: show us what you got.
Not a fan of these free upgrades. It gives these companies an excuse to use what they have from past gen and build on it. Tbh, I was hoping for a completey new experience with a game built from the ground up. This is what you hope for when the next generation of consoles arrives. I will have to see the game in action before I can judge and decide on a future purchase.
There's eFootball PES next year to look forward to I guess.  The only sports game to take the right approach and take a year off for next-gen to truly rebuild it.  2K did a halfway approach, which I appreciate - with expanding the feature set, it is left open for them to spend the next dev cycle rebuilding the physics and motion engine from scratch (and perhaps yielding more graphical fidelity from the consoles).  EA of course, the tamest, lamest, half-hearted, half-assed, last place approach in giving us the same core game based on a flawed engine and design approach from more than a console generation ago.  This gen will be more of the same, unfortunately.  As someone mentioned above, EA's marketing team is the most talented division in that whole company.  The NFL is really the one with the power to do anything about it, but the bottom line is being more than satisfied, so there will be no NFL equivalent to what we're seeing with NBA 2K, and what we might expect to see from PES and MLB The Show.
Faster load times are great, although I expected nothing less. The rest is just fluff. "Individual hair strand response" seriously ! I usually button mash through intros, cut scenes and celebrations anyway. I'll wait for a "new game" in '22.

3 days from release and no gameplay from either FIFA or Madden next gen. Something aint right. NBA 2K couldn't stop promoting their game, but EA seems to be hiding theirs.

Agreed. Insane that we haven’t seen anything substantive.

2K was a completely new game. this is just a free, for most, PS5 update. Don't expect missive changes in gameplay

That's not true, even though it was promoted as a game that had been built from the ground up, that was a lie. Don't get me wrong, it is a next gen game with improvement in many aspects, but it's not a completely new game.
