FIFA 20 VOLTA FOOTBALL Gameplay Details, Modes, Progression & Much More - Including New Gameplay Trailer

In FIFA 20, players can experience a whole new way to play the game in VOLTA FOOTBALL by taking their learnings from the streets and applying them to the stadium or vice versa, from playing balls off the wall to performing a futsal drag – the flair and creativity of street football comes to life.

Gameplay in VOLTA FOOTBALL is built on top of the existing EA SPORTS FIFA Gameplay engine that develops and refines current elements of the game while adding new and fundamentally unique mechanics. Providing players with variety and diversity, a range of different modes with varying circumstances and rule combinations elevates the experience to bring the key elements of street football to life in the game. Additionally, simplified rules, custom ball mechanics, various environments, different match types (Rush Keepers, Street with Keepers, Futsal), along with a whole lot of flair, add to the authentic experience. In Kick Off mode, existing footballers from the World’s biggest clubs can compete in the streets and players can choose from a variety of options with VOLTA House Rules depending on what they want to jump into, including Survival, No Rules and First to X.

Additionally, VOLTA FOOTBALL also includes a story mode that takes players through the world of VOLTA. Along with an online connected experience in VOLTA TOUR where players can journey to different locations all over the world, including Tokyo, Amsterdam, New York, Cape Town, Mexico City, Rome, Paris and more. And, players can make their way through promotion and relegation with online VOLTA LEAGUE where the new player versus player formats places your team against others online, and wins lead to promotion into a higher division.

  1. I think it will be a cool diversion from whatever the main game mode someone plays. Sucks that its not online for those that like that sort of thing. Looks like a lot of fun though and definetly a better addition than The Journey.

Actually looks super solid. Surprised it isn't online, figured they were copying the NBA Live Park/World of Chel series with a similar concept.
Ill definitely play and it will extend playability which is great. Just surprised it isn't online.
Sometimes EA really confuses me. You'd think it'd be easy to utilize certain approaches across games, but they don't and I'll never understnad it (i.e. if they have online approahces like in NHL and NBA, how can they not utilize some of the architecture to easily make Volta an online mode).
Either way, still a day 1 buy for me. Between MyCareer and Volta news.

I think this is a better direction for the casual fan, rather than journey. Good design choice.

Can't say it enough. They have blown me away with the amount of things they've added to this game across all modes. This isn't some junk that was slapped together. This is deep and intricate and well though-out. Same with the FUT additions and Career Mode additions. The Fifa team feels like they accomplished 100x the amount of things that they typically do. I'm very impressed. Can't wait to check it out.

this mode would kill pro clubs if it was online. I think i would only play this for now one. I think maybe EA is not making it online because they know the average pro clubs game is 5 v 5 or less than that already and most people would play this instead if you could use your virtual pros in 5 v 5 and eliminate all cpu players basically making it the death of pro clubs except for those who play in 11 v 11 leagues which is not the average pro clubs game...
even  offline when u do  3 v 3 your ps4 can't even do over 4 controllers.    so disappointing how epic this multiplayer mode really could of been because it looks great actually.  what a let down
This new mode sounds exactly like the old FIFA Street games, which is not a bad thing. I usually get FIFA after PES, but this will be an early purchase for me this year just because we're basically getting FIFA Street back.

I was a big fan of FIFA STREET 4 (PS3/X360, the 2012 version), and recently the RPCS3 PS3 emulator allowed us to use our PS3 disk of FIFA STREET 4 to be able to emulate the game on PC................in shiny stunning 4K...
So recently, ahead of FIFA 20's demo, I had been playing FIFA STREET 4 a lot in its surprisingly beautiful 4K mode via the RPCS3 emulator to get in the mood for the upcoming Volta, and I started noting down the skill moves that the CPU AI were capable of pulling off, as I wanted to compare them to the CPU AI attempts at skill moves in FIFA 20's Volta.
Typically.............during the FIFA 20 Beta stage, all the YouTube uploaded videos, and the usual streamers, posted videos of them "having to beat the Amateur AI" so as not to spoil their "reputations"..........this meant to view the CPU AI in action, we were only able to witness some fuddy duddy Amateur AI in action in Volta, and it made Volta look very lame indeed against the CPU AI...
So, along comes the demo, and now the trial, of FIFA 20...................and I have been noting down the very same kind of things, i.e. the CPU AI skill moves that we witness when playing against it (ok, hands up, I am a big CPU vs CPU kinda guy, I love to look at AI innovations as the years go by...), and boy, are we in for a treat.
Those who thought FIFA Street was not being presented with an "update" within FIFA 20 can be mistaken, because although a few of the top top skills from FIFA Street havent been witnessed by me in the CPU AI in Volta as yet, I can honestly say my A4 piece of paper with my handwritten "Waka Waka, Taekondo Pass, One Foot Roulette, Rainbow Back Heel Pass, Neymar Special Rainbow Flick, Ball Hop Pass, and Tornado Pass" etc etc has filled up so quickly with all the skills I have witnessed, and I can state right now that the level of skills and the organic movement of the players, as well as the organic ball physics in Volta, has taken me by massively pleasant surprise, after labouring through witnessing the Amateur AI as "presented by the FIFA 20 Beta test 'experts' " on Youtube in recent months.
FIFA 20 Volta................is damn good. It may be dismissed by many and I can understand why, but please give it a go and you will start to see what I mean...
I seriously advise, as a one-off, and even though most want to keep playing, setting it in Volta mode as CPU vs CPU in Legendary AI level to watch Brazil vs Brazil in any of the Volta 3v3, 4v4, Futsal etc modes.....its awesome, organic, and has real depth in terms of the AI logic. Make sure Neymar and Cointra are in the CPU AI team, the game picks random players so just go out and in a few times until those 2 are in the Brazil team.
I might even try out the main FIFA 20 game soon...................
I ignored the story portion of Volta up until the official release. Jeebus it's terrible. Not even sure why they thought the mode even needed a story. Why create a character only to have them call you a different name and give me a british accent! I got to choose my nationality and name guess that only matters outside of the story. Fun game mode but that story portion woof.
