EA's Skate Will Be Free-to-Play with Cross-Play, Cross-Progression, Microtransactions & More

Skate will be a live-service, meaning the team won’t push a new game every year or 2. Instead they will continue to improve and add features through the model. Skating will take place in a new city called San Vansterdam.

The team mentioned the game will feature cross-play, cross-progression and the dirty word, microtransactions. The game won’t feature mapped areas behind a paywall, paid loot boxes or paid gameplay advantages. It won’t be pay to win, it’s mostly for cosmetics and convenience.

Fans can sign up for a chance to playtest Skate and provide feedback.
