The Crew Motorfest might boast a variety of game modes, but the weekly Summit contest is where your mind should be. With this week’s theme being the Drift Harmony Summit, ranking might be hard if you’re not a skilled drifter. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
No one wants to miss those weekly freebies from the Summit event. So, in this article, we’ll be going into an in-depth guide on how you can master drifting and rank well in the Drift Harmony contest. Following these small tips and tricks, you can get those exclusive car parts and win exclusive Platinum vanity items.
What to Focus On?
Before we get into the details, let’s break down the different factors that lead to a good score. First and foremost, you’ll need a car that’s made to drift. Each car has different stats, meaning it’s not a one-size-fits-all deal. Selecting the right car is essential to ranking high.
Next, you have the car settings. While many drift cars may be pre-tuned and optimized for drifting, players need them to fit their playstyle. If you can’t control a car, it’s useless, even if it has optimal drifting stats. Always optimize the car to fit your driving style.
Those two factors alone will significantly boost your Summit score. However, other factors like getting a feel for the track and mastering drifting in general will give you that extra edge. Also, always remember to participate in all the weekly Summit events. Each week, there’s a different set of events. Here’s a list for your convenience:
- Main Events (Drifts, Races, etc.)
- Feats (Speed Traps, Slalom, Escape, etc.)
- Brothers (Co-Op Events)
- Masters (Higher Skill Events)
- Custom Shows (Vanity Items and Designs)
Some weeks, you’ll also have live competition bonus events, so be on the lookout for those.
Now that you’ve got an idea of how to accumulate points in the Drift Harmony Summit event, let’s go through exactly what you’ll need to reach the top.
Picking the Right Car
The first thing you want is a car that’s tailored towards drifting. You can browse through cars with higher drift scores or specific drift edition models. Both of them will help you conquer the drift challenges better.
You might think that you can pick any car and tune it to drift better. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. While fine-tuning a vehicle will undoubtedly improve your drift score, the right car plays a massive role that can’t be overshadowed simply by tuning your vehicle.
Here are some cars we recommend for the Drift Harmony Summit in The Crew Motorfest:
- BMW M5 (2011 Drift Edition)
- BMW Z4 sDrive35is (2011 Drift Edition)
- Hoonigan Ford Hoonicorn Mustang (1965)
- Hoonigan Audi S1 e-tron quattro (2021 Drift Edition)
- Red Bull RB14 (Disruption Edition 2018)
- Mazda RX-7 (Drift Edition)
- Nissan 370Z (Drift Edition)
You can find both the BMW M5 and BMW Z4 in this week’s Summit bundles if you don’t have them already. Otherwise, try to utilize the other cars to the best of their abilities.
You’ll notice that most of them are Drift Edition cars. As we stated before, always look for cars that are Drift Edition or have high drift scores. These will maximise your Drift Harmony progress.
Tuning to Perfection
You’ve picked out your car. The next step is to work on its settings. Tuning a car can be exhausting, not to mention confusing, if you’re new to it. With a plethora of settings, fine-tuning each one to perfection takes skill and expertise. Thankfully, we’ve got you covered.
| Transmission | Final Drive | Set to 0% (balanced acceleration and top speed) |
| Tires | Grip Front | 0% |
| Grip Rear | -6% (longer and more stable drift) | |
| Breaks | Brake Balance | 65% towards the front |
| Brake Power | -5% (smoother break with less power) | |
| Aero | Load Front | 0% |
| Load Rear | -5% (lighter rear load gives better drift angle) | |
| Suspension | Spring Front | -2% |
| Spring Back | -2% | |
| Damper Compression Front | -2% | |
| Damper Compression Back | -2% | |
| Damper Rebound Front | -2% | |
| Damper Rebound Back | -2% | |
| Anti-Roll Bars | Front | -5% |
| Rear | +5% | |
| Alignment | Camber Front | +0.25° |
| Camber Back | +0.25° |
These are general settings you can use for a variety of cars to help you get more drift times with better control. As you learn the individualistic features of each car, you’ll discover more favourable settings. Until then, these settings should be enough.
Revisiting Tracks
When playing Drift Harmony Summit, remember that only your best scores count towards your overall score. This means players should keep replaying races to improve their scores. As you replay the tracks, you’ll start memorizing the turns in each track, helping you to drift better.
Certain turns allow for longer drifts, while others require quick brakes. These are all things you’ll learn as you replay the track.
Playing a race again and again might not boast very significant improvements. But when done on all the events, it’s sure to put you slightly above the rest of the competition. Make sure to practice and master one track before moving on to the next.
Learning How to Drift
Replaying tracks and having a top-tier car are important factors. But nothing compares to actually knowing how to drift well and chaining your combos. Drift Harmony Summit isn’t about how fast you complete the track, but rather about your drift score. The longer you hold a drift, the higher your multiplier is. Crash, and it resets to zero.
There are a few key points you need to know about getting a high drift score:
- Touching walls or going off track resets your multiplier.
- Maintaining a drift longer increases your multiplier.
- Use handbrake for sharp turns or adjustments.
- Learn different drift initiations and where to use them, e.g., handbrake initiation, power oversteer, trail braking, feint drift.
- Tapping the throttle in long corners gives you more control.
- Drift wide to maximise your multiplier earlier in the track to get a higher score. Don’t leave the track corners unused.
- Pre-drift on straight paths for higher score chains.
- Adjust sensitivity. Smooth movements allow for better drifts over jerky, spontaneous movements.
- High frame rate and the proper camera angle make drifting much simpler.
- Manual transmission gives you more control over the car.
- Watch top players to learn when and how much they drift on each turn.
- Finally, don’t lose your cool. Drifting can be difficult in the start. But, you must stay consistent and keep practicing without getting frustrated.
If you’re able to incorporate even half of these tips into your casual drifts, you’re bound to improve. Aim to adjust your drifts according to the track. This will greatly improve your position on the Drift Harmony leaderboard.
Playing the Entire Package
Our last tip is pretty simple: participate in every event. We mentioned that your cumulative score counts toward the Summit leaderboard. If you don’t play these events, you’re potentially losing out on free points.
The event people neglect the most is the Custom Shows. This event is primarily to show off your car more than your skills. So, always opt to enter the show, as you might just get a few extra points. If your car has a few vanity items and customizations, then we’d definitely recommend participating.
Following all these tips will help you achieve your desired rank. Even if you’re only ranking bronze or silver right now, keep improving. Platinum might be in the cards for you next week.
