NL East All-Stars of the Franchise

All-Stars of the Franchise Program Breakdown

The smaller Sizzling Summer Program wrapped today, and now we get the third major program of the year, the All-Stars of the Franchise Program. This program includes 30 MLB All-Stars and then a collection reward of All-Star Jackie Robinson. You will unlock 18 of these cards in the program, and you will need 44 of them (we’ll presumably get more from the Home Run Derby and All-Star game itself) for the Jackie Robinson. In other words, this is working like most of the other big programs where you will need to buy some cards in the marketplace.

Bottom Line

The big programs continue to show how SDS is in a bit of a tricky spot when it comes to fusing the old Team Affinity programs with these mega programs. In the past, you could grind for all 30 of these players, but now you’ll be capped at 18 and have to buy the rest in the marketplace. SDS has been giving us more chances to grab these players after the program ends in future programs, but that sidesteps the point that some people don’t want to wait — and the cards are not as good as time goes on as they’re replaced by new ones.

On top of that, these cards have much lower power levels than the 2021 All-Star cards. I would count that as a positive in a vacuum, but I do think some people will be bummed out by these cards. People slightly burned out by the game may have been hoping for souped up power levels on these cards to get them back interested. Others are still probably waiting for a patch that changes the gameplay enough to bring them back to The Show.

The Jackie Robinson collection card is unquestionably an amazing card, but it probably is not going to be cheap to get there. When it comes to the other players, not too many scream out to me that they’re must haves from the jump, but guys like J.D. Martinez will likely end up in my lineup. But with these players not blowing away the others out there, this will come down to who you like swinging with or pitching with rather than there being tons of “must have” meta players.
